Lisa was so sweet, as she did my manicure to perfection, incredibly detail-oriented & full of smiles! She was quite patient as I selected a color! Lisa helped me pick the best shade out of three that I was considering! Pedicure: Fabulous! Mimi was sweet as well; super detail-oriented while giving me a gentle pedicure and really took her time and did a fantastic job! Also, thanks Mimi, thanks for the best leg massage...wow! Loved it! I love how quick and affordable their pedicures are. I usually call the day or day before to schedule an appointment. It is run by extremely detailed nail techs. I never leave regretful of the work. It's relaxing no loud talking, they have a giant screen and usually play a pleasant movie or tv show. Went in as a walk -in for a gel manicure and possibly chrome. The service is great! Forgot to ask the price before but trusted them since I've been there before for pedicure. I was very lucky to have had the guy do my nails (I totally forgot his name lol but he's the only guy there) and he killed it. I didn't realize my nail had broke before going and he gladly added powder to fix it. He tried on the color I chose and was very helpful when I asked if I could see another color. After gel, he showed me how the chrome looked to see if I liked it. I LOVED IT! only paid $50 (this included mani+ gel+chrome) which was a fair price than other places I've gone to. Bad service went in for a new set of dip, the guy decided to do a refill instead. He was struggling to match my previous color on my nail.(that's why I said a new set ) he went along to do his job . Once he was adding the top coat he decides to remove everything , I kept quiet. And he restarted the whole process and again he removed everything. I was already in there for 2 hrs. Pre-covid 19 review. My regular nail salon closed down at the beginning of pandemic and I needed a pedicure. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at this particular place. Pedicure ($37.00): it was way more expensive than my regular my salon, but they pamper you way more. The pedicure is nice because a hot oil massage is included. The nail lady rolled a plastic bag of hot oil under my sole. I almost cried because it was the best foot massage I had in a long long long time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. THE NAIL TECHS ARE BEYOND RUDE AND SLOPPY. They said I needed to pay for the service at the beginning of my appointment. I paid thinking I would get quality service but instead was left with nails I could've done myself. At one point the tall thin male nail tech lifted my hand to the other staff and they all walked up real quick and had a laugh. Of course I did not understand what they were saying and when I asked what was funny, he acted like he couldn't understand me. Anytime I said anything they would look at me and say something to eachother and all laugh. They did not even attempt to hide the fact that they were talking about you. I wanted to tell them all how rude they were but I had already paid $90 for the service and just wanted to get through the appointment. They were already so rude that I didn't want them to treat me even worse or go out of their way to make my nails ugly. I also know I was not going to get a refund. I should've denied paying before the services because I felt stuck. My natural nails are perfectly fine but now I have this awful lumpy crooked French tip polish on them that I have to figure it how to remove. I could've saved so much money. I finally got a pedicure! Since this pandemic started I had not had a pedicure and it was AMAZING!! They maintain social distance. They clean between clients and they have clear shields separating client and pedicurist/ manicurist. I decided to pamper my self and went with the lavender eruption volcanic pedicure ($60) did not disappoint. They put a lavender pebbles in the water while I soaked my feet and it felt so refreshing. She started working on my toes, I got hot stone massage, cream massage on my legs, towel wrap, callus treatment, and massage on my feet. They make sure you like the color before they do your toes. I need to coma back soon. I recommend to make an appointment ahead of time so you don't wait as much. PEDICURE REVIEW: We were told about this new location by a Macy's employee. She recommended the pedicure and that's what we went in for. We had no appointment; we just walked right in and were seated immediately. The manicurists are very nice. We told them we wanted pedicures and asked if they also removed calluses. They do! The classic pedicure lasts about 15-20 min and includes the file, cuticle, lotion, hot towel, and polish.The chairs are huge high back white leather chairs with a massage pillow. Very comfortable! Ask for a card and get stamped for each visit. After 10 visits you receive a free manicure. This is our second visit and we plan on returning often. This is a long review on multiple visits so settle down, grab your snacks and charge your device or computer cauz it's on! Hehe I've been here a few times that I'm recognized when I come in, which in my opinion goes to show their attentiveness. Lil back story: It has been about 14 years since I have gotten a full set so I didn't have a clue what I wanted. Anyway, I was greeted right away and explained my situation and one of the techs was very helpful and I felt like she didn't oversell me with unnecessary services. I had to wait a little but I was okay with it because I was a walk-in. They have a HUGE selection of colors and designs I was overwhelmed because I couldn't decide. Once seated, one of the younger techs got to work on my paws right away but she was only the assistant to Katie. She was very friendly and I'm awkward so there were some quiet moments but I was satisfied with her work. I got a lot of compliments. I went back for a fill with a guy technician of slim built and was not happy with his work. I don't blame him but I should have trusted my gut. He filled some of my nails over dead cuticles and did not re shape them again. maybe it was my mistake of not speaking up but I felt like it should have been something logical to do. The last time I went I was somewhat satisfied but it's because Im a little bit of a perfectionist and again since I'm still new at "getting my nails did" I don't exactly know what to expect. The things that bothered me was that again my dead cuticles weren't completely take out (But now i will speak up about) and there was a few bubbles in my gel and I could see the streak of the holographic coat she put on. 2 of my nails were cut crooked but I caught it on time so it was fixed. In the end I felt like some of my nails were crooked but maybe it was just my astigmatism making them look like that. Unfortunately I did not catch her name just remembered she was middle aged. Overall, the reason why they still get all 5 stars from me is because despite the things that bothered ME, I didn't feel their work was rushed, the color selection was overwhelming, there was something on tv to keep the awkward moments at bay and the hot towel massage on your freshly done nails at the end is a nice little service. This place always does a great job no matter who does my nails. They always make sure that my cuticles and dead skin are taken care of. I cannot express enough how much I love this place. I've been here a few times with my best friend. I've been looking for a go-to nail salon for a while since moving back from the OC. I've been to plenty of nail salons to have now figured out what I do and don't like. I would consider myself fairly picky when it comes to getting my nails done. I live in LA so this is kind of a drive for me but in all honesty, it's worth it. For the quality work you get, it's fairly priced. I wouldn't say this is the cheapest place I've been to, but I would say this is by far the best place I've been to in terms of quality. Here's some background: my nails grow out fast and my cuticles build up pretty quick, so I get my nails done often. My nails are fairly strong so I usually opt for gel manis. This place cleans out my cuticles really well and apply the gel in such a way that most people mistaken my nails for being fake. I normally don't like acrylics for how uncomfortable they start feeling. More so recently, I've been breaking my natural nails a lot so I've been getting acrylics done elsewhere in the meantime (counter-intuitive, but I just like having longer nails.) Up until I came here to Five Star, I thought I was getting pretty decent acrylic jobs done. It wasn't until I met Katie that she changed my whole perspective on acrylics. I met Katie when I came in for a fill for nails that were originally done at a different salon. In the beginning, I was kind of offended when Katie (nicely) mentioned that my acrylics weren't on straight and the shapes were off. Because I had never experienced a GOOD acrylic job before, I thought that's how it was suppose to be. Katie is quick, friendly, and she pays the upmost attention to detail. She shapes acrylic nails like clockwork and it's the best work I have ever seen. Katie was able to straighten out my nails, even them out, and even shape them EXACTLY the way I wanted them. Her work was so perfect that after she painted my nails, my acrylics looked like what my natural nails would have looked like if I had grew them out. I was so impressed. The chairs were comfy and white, and I liked how the pedicure chairs were elevated. In addition, I loved how many options they had for colors. I opted to go for more of a nude color, but I definitely wouldn't mind checking out all the glitter and sparkles next time.
