    Fried corn mush and bacon.

If you're a local, you'd probably struggle with how to answer the question, "What is a Hoosier?" Once you walk into this quaint little cafe, you would know it has something to do with Indiana. The walls are adorned with pennants, pictures, and basketball memorabilia from all over the state. My wife and I came here on a Sunday morning looking for a new breakfast experience. The place was pretty empty, so we were seated immediately. After viewing the menu, I decided to try something new and unique. I ordered the fried corn mush with bacon. I have had corn mush before, and it is similar to grits. When it said fried, I guess I had a different idea of what that would be. I was expecting it to be griddle fried and more like a corn fritter. When my order came out, I discovered that the mush was deep-fried. This in itself was not a bad thing. I found the texture crispy on the outside and soft inside. It lacked flavor and left an oily feel in my mouth. A little catsup and Tabasco flavored it nicely. I can't judge this meal as this is the first time having this, so there is no point of reference. I'm not saying the fried mush was bad, just that it's something I would order again. The bacon that came with it was pretty good. I did sample a little of my wife's omelet, and I believe a return trip is in order for one of their omelets.

My husband and I been coming to this cozy Cafe for 9 years and it's just my favorite restaurant to come for breakfast! My sons love it here and I definitely will recommend! It feels homey and just right. The staff is always so nice and welcoming, and not to mention the food, very delicious!

The food was okay not great but not terrible, French Toast looked like regular bread eggs were done correctly and bacon was crispy but flavor was missing coffee was also taste free. I won't be back

A very popular spot. It's a nice cafe plenty of room, I ordered sausage eggs biscuits with gravy. The sausage was a bit tough but somewhere in there there was a flavor that I liked. The gravy was good but I could still taste the flour in the biscuit and it will certainly not fluffy. My waitress is absolutely adorable! She was extremely kind and went out of her way to make sure I was taking care of.

Hoosier Hospitality in the heat of the Arizona desert, be still my heart. I've heard of the two Hoosier Cafes in the Valley but never dined at one until now! AND I got to meet Linda. She's a lovely grandmother who "married a drunken American sailor from Ft Wayne" and after 30+ years and a few kids and one divorce, are still friends and business partners. Before embarking on a cross-country move for her ex's career in the 90's, they ran a Hoosier Cafe just south of Ft Wayne. They are also the original owners of the Hoosier Cafe in Chandler, of which she sold years ago. So considering she's been in the restaurant business longer than I've been alive, she and her ex deserve all the praise (esp making it thru 2020). It's diner breakfast/brunch food but not a chain. I managed to get a meal and conversation a little before closing recently (daily at/around 2p) after hiking in AJ. Linda was the one who made my late breakfast (a 3-egg cheesy/meaty omelette and potatoes). Many diners I've been to are fairly light on the cheese n meat but not Linda's! There was cheesy deliciousness in every bite. The potatoes were well seasoned, not overtly or under. They're also fairly inexpensive considering how much more expensive the Valley is than Indiana. I'm glad I found this place and look forward to coming back and maybe seeing some fellow Hoosiers plus eating one of Linda's homemade cinnamon rolls she promised to me.

Best Breakfast I have had out in a while. Had the Omelette with bacon, ham, and cheese, came with home fries, and I chose a biscuit and gravy for the side. With water, the total bill came to $12.97

Since 2016, this non-profit diner has been directly supporting homebound cancer patients through sponsored meals. The menu is deep, and the food is incredible! And honestly, I feel confident with all of their options. The place was packed and everyone looked satisfied. I ordered the chilaquiles which were a delightful offering of crispy tortilla chips covered in earthy red chili, topped with a velvety poached egg, on a bed of hearty pinto beans that had a hint of cumin, all which was drizzled with a rich crema and crumbled queso fresco. My dad had the Rueben and he said it was in his top-three he's ever had! Even during the Saturday brunch rush we were seated promptly, the kitchen was swift and our waitress was kindly attentive to our needs. We will definitely be adding this fine establishment to our short list, and can see why this is a community staple.

We finally decided to try the diner, and oh my goodness--this is no substandard food kitchen. This is top-notch food at reasonable prices and for a great cause. You can't go wrong! We arrived on a Sunday at their new location, which is super nice, VW bus and all. :) While relatively small, it is many times larger than their old location around the corner. You can sit inside at a table, at the bar, or at one of the few patio tables on a nice day. We sat inside for this first visit, and a friendly server took our order. We chose to order from the breakfast menu, and I ordered The Camper: Crispy double-dipped fried chicken thigh smothered in savory gravy and topped with cheese, three slices of Nueske's peppered bacon, and an over-easy egg, served on a housemade butter biscuit. My wife ordered the CSA Scramble: Farm-fresh veggies from Crooked Sky Farms CSA basket scrambled with three eggs, served with fruit, sliced tomato, and 9-grain toast. Needless to say, we were both impressed. The Camper was absolutely perfect. I would not change a thing. The gravy was just special, and there was so much food, I took some home. My wife's dish was fresh and perfect for what she was looking for. Do consider donating to this worthy cause. We chose to, and you can even donate right on your bill so that it goes right on your credit card if you so choose. But I can judge simply food or filet a trout or chicken and add a homemade beurre blanc sauce. I like simple red wine but relish a Camus anniversary bottle. We eat at hole in the walls and expensive places. But often we look at each other and choose between Dennys or VI, and are happy! Today, May 16th at VI on Signal Butte - rough start by a waitress who told both of us "I need to know your pie order. NOW." Resturant was not busy. Not at all. It was 4:15 maybe. Slow on a SUNDAY post-winter visitor rush on a late Spring day. Rushed. I pointed to my 3-6pm dinner choice of TURKEY. I showed her. "Just as it comes. She repeated it back to me as she typed in into her handheld computer. Chicken fried steak arrived. And a sausage looking oval patty shape of stuffing. Two long finger prints in it. I wondered if she picked up my loose stuffing as it's normally served here in America, or rather the chef did this to all who request it. I told my husband to look for spit in his food. My hubby? Nicest guy ever. But when he knows I didn't want and could not manage fried beef..but I had fasted 21 hours. I needed sliced fresh high protein meat. Wait another 15 min or eat the mess on my plate? I told her I'd eat it. Truly don't like complaining let alone confrontation with a Russian native with a sharp attitude because of a rough life. My nephew is from there so I GET the trauma. and I though I know I can usually switch my palate. But not for this plate of food. I felt sick looking at it. "Just eat the 'steak' I picked the stuffing apart - could not eat more than a thimble. Gummy gluten salty yuck was inedible. The FINGERPRINTS! 2 Fingertips past knuckles imprinted. I left it and hope someone there stopped to think "Why?" Our Waitress tried to make up by suddendly being nice when she walked behind me with a second piece of pie ...to go home. Thanked me for being agreeable or something. I nodded. I remember this saying if you l oh someone's attention the first three seconds and first three steps you'll spend the next 30 min trying to make them believe you're hiring. It's true. I was too tired this week to be extremely understanding but I'm never rude. I told my hubby let's both let this one go. And I said "But we won't return here." He nodded in agreement. Because I see people come in and sit down I see how tired they are and make quick calls to be able to turn their day around if only for a short time before they return home....to being a caregiver or to grieve a loss. Sad dinner and maybe she had a tough week too. But. But times 3 over.
