I never write reviews but I had a very disappointing experience here tonight. I ordered 1/3 rack ribs and brisket. I peeled back the crust on the ribs and blood was prevalent through the entire 1/3 rack under the crust. I did not feel comfortable eating them and I asked the waitress to get a new rack - she was very pleasant! However, the blonde woman manager who then came over was very rude. She proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that it was a "smoke ring" although everyone at my table agreed it was not a pink smoke ring it was red, flowing blood. I told her we frequently smoke ribs at home and I understand the pink smoke rings but she did not seem to care and argued with me. read more

Walking into this loud BBQ joint, you are ushered past the bar where the local boys are wetting their whistles. Thought I had made a very bad mistake in coming to this restaurant with my wife! I was visiting family in CNY, and after a fun hour at Onondaga Lake Park we decided to grab a bite to eat. We decided on the Liverpool Limp Lizard. I like that their beer on tap selection has a little something for everyone! Service was attentive and friendly. The food is reasonably priced, and the portions are more than generous! I called 2 weeks in advance to set up a small catered lunch and was promised a call back closer to event. I never got a call back, so 4 days before event, I called again to check. They had no record of my order but said they would call back right away. They didn't call, so once again I called. went here for the first time & honestly i was really disappointed! thought this place was supposed to be on par with dino bbq - maybe i caught them on a bad night. i worked at bull and bear for a while, and was under the impression limp lizard was better - but my experience with the food here was way worse than anything i had at bull & bear. i got the 3 sliders, which was $14 (!!). i thought they would hve maybe had some cheese, slaw, or anything at all on them really, to set them apart from each other, but it was just 3 buns with 3 diff meats - nothing else, did not come with a side (the server did at least mention this before i ordered). the same bbq sauce was poured over all three, one was brisket, one was pulled pork, and one was mexican style pulled chicken. i guess i expected a little more for $14. my partner got the cheesesteak, which came with two sides, and was $14. his was way more food for the money, and he enjoyed it! i tried a bite and it was just ok to me - it tasted like they used cheeze whiz/nacho cheese sauce. service was just ok, nothing special. i was going to order a beer but did not see a drink menu on our table. also kind of wish we sat outside - the booth section we were sat in, way too close together, and low ceilings, just feltike they squeezed 4 booths into a space that was too small for 4 booths. overall, might give it another try, but will have to wait a while or maybe go to another location. read more

I was craving some good barbeque (damn you FoodNetwork!) and opted for Limp Lizard in Liverpool instead of Smokey Bones. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. The food isn't terrible by any means, but it wasn't the drool worthy barbeque I wanted. We started with Pig Skins, potato skins with pulled pork on top. They were potato skins... with a heap of pulled pork. Nothing special at all. For entrees, we ordered the Smoked Wings as well as the Platter (3-way) with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The ribs were the best part of this meal. Fall of the bone and super tender. They had to make up for the lack of flavor in everything by smothering it in barbeque sauce. Our waitress was quick and efficient, but not overly friendly. When you pop into the bathroom, you definitely get the sense they are trying to compete with Dinosaur, but they're losing. They did have a few things on their menu (not barbeque related) that sounded pretty good, so we may go back again... undecided. read more

Ok, so we tried Dinosaur's first. But it was crowded, loud, and long delay before seating. I'm so glad we left for Limp Lizard - it was exactly what we wanted. The service was sassy and fun, the food was really good, the tap selection broad, and the ambiance suited us perfectly. I had pulled pork and 1/4 rack ribs, and savored every last bite. Limp Lizard is one of our go to restaurants! There is never a huge wait, they have great food, fun/child friendly atmosphere and a great bar with ever changing craft beers. They always have sports on and have great food and drink specials during the games. Live music on weekends is a bonus too! You really can't go wrong with any of the food choices. Some of my favorites are the wings (I'm salt sensitive so I can only eat a couple), pulled pork, ribs, cuban, smoked turkey sandwich, tacos, etc. Tonight I tried something new and had a burger with pulled pork on top. It was a large party and cooked perfectly (a huge pet peeve of mine is an overcooked burger!) I got cole slaw and mac n cheese on the side. Their sides are all fantastic and it's always hard to choose. Their cole slaw is some of the best I've ever had and always a great addition to the pulled pork. I also love the sweet potato fries, tomato/cuc salad, beans, and salt potatoes to name a few. They have great bbq sauce too! Friends of had them cater their party and all the food was fantastic. So we have pretty much two famous BBQ places here in our city and surrounding areas. I won't name the other one, but you all know exactly who I speak of. I can tell you honestly that they both are super close when it comes to ranking them in flavor and price. Both have their own unique flavors as well. I typically always get pulled pork here and sometimes I get the brisket. The sides are extremely tasty and appear to be home made. The sauce for the BBQ isn't to overwhelming. This is all good thing because you really want to taste the smokiness of the pork itself. The pricing is pretty much about the same as the other guys and you can expect to pay about forty bucks for two people. That includes entrees and a drink. I don't really get appetizers often, so I can't speak for those. I recommend coming here when you feel like you want a different flavor then the other big name in town. So we sit down, and for 25 minutes, no one pays any attention to us. The hostess and waitress walked by us and made eye contact but did nothing. The only reason that we gave 1 star was that we could not give less. This is probably one of the worst run restaurants in the area. We have gone there for years and food is fine but service is very slow. Recent visit was the last straw. After waiting for about 15 minutes to order drinks we were finally served then ordered our food. After 45 more minutes or so with no food in sight, we finally told the waitress we were going and wanted the drinks bill. She did not say a word but just ran the bill plunked it down on the table and left. Not a word of sorry for the wait or anything so this probably happens often. Not going back. read more

Liverpool's Limp Lizard was hopping on a recent Tuesday night. We were there to check out the scene... Sit in with the house band and get us some good eats. We shared the house made fried green tomatoes. They were served hot and crispy with a sauce on the side. The tomatoes themselves were awesome, but the sauce was a little on the weak side. After that we shared the three-way platter with brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The brisket was truly the star of this plate, with the pulled pork and the ribs coming in second and third. Slaw was a little sweet, and the collard greens could've used a little heat. Everything delicious and we will definitely go back. Service was fast and friendly; though my request for paper towels in the men's room went unanswered for the entire evening. The music was fantastic! If I could give 0 stars, I would. My husband and I along with some friends had probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had when we attempted to eat here. We called ahead to make sure that our party of 9 could be accommodated. We we're told yes, they'd have a table in the back. We arrived on time and we're seated. Our server took awhile to stop by and get our drink order. We waited about 10min to get our drinks (drafts from the bar). We immediately placed our food order. My husband and I got an appetizer. it took 30min for our appetizer to arrive. The server never checked on us or offered refills on our drinks during this time. We ate the appetizers and after waiting 1.5hr, we still didn't have our food. We weren't offer more drinks or anything. We tracked down the manager and asked why our food was taking so long. Her response was that it was a Friday night and our wait was normal. The restaurant wasn't that busy, still plenty of empty tables. We finally got up to leave because we were tired of waiting. The manger literally chased us outside because we were leaving and they had started cooking our food and said we needed to pay for it. We explained we weren't paying for food we didn't get, we'd had terrible service, and we were leaving. She proceeded to scream at us as we left. I will never go back k here. I e never been treated so poorly ever. I've worked in restaurants before as a server and a bar tender and never witnessed behavior like this. read more

Cute tiny rustic Bbq joint. The brisket was amazing. Nice smoky flavor and extremely tender. Came apart with little effort. I also tried the pulled pork for my sample platter. The pulled pork was very good. The 2 sides I picked were mac and cheese and coleslaw. The mac and cheese was good but the coleslaw lacks flavor. It needed some vinegar and maybe a touch of salt. The beef brisket was good and the pulled pork was good. Mac and cheese was really good. Prices were reasonable. The not so good. The bun that the pulled pork was in was a soggy mess. The cornbread and the jalapeno cornbread was way too dry, crumbling in my hand and mouth, and the bits of corn kernels in it were hard. The collard greens were an actual insult to my mouth. I ordered the wings, they were barely warm, you could tell they had been pre-made and microwaved to the point where they were extremely dried out. The only thing worst then their main course is their sides, no love, no flavor, no ambition or passion whatsoever is placed in their sides. It was the the most unpleasant culinary experience I've had in a long time. They didn't even bother to warm up the sides, it was as if they served them cold from a fridge. For St. Patrick's Day, the family and I decided to try Limp Lizards for the first time. We got there around 6:45ish and no one else was in the family section. We are a family of four; two adults and two children under the age of six. Unfortunately I either didn't hear our waitress's name or she didn't give it to us. I normally pay attention to this because I don't like to say, "hey" or "excuse me". I prefer to use their name. To start, for a place that states they're good for kids, y'all need to have some kind of paper for the kids to be entertained/draw on. I don't mind so much the restaurant not supplying the crayons, because I normally carry those in my purse for them. Though the waitress said she would bring us paper for them to draw on (I believe it was the paper she uses to write down her orders on) but she never brought anything for them. Second, it would be nice if she would have known the drink menu instead of her saying, "scan this and it'll tell you what we have on draft". Really?! It's St Patrick's Day for Pete's sake! Third, when we ordered the appetizer, she only brought 2 plates... for a family of four. Not happy about that, it's simple math. But whatever. Fourth, when I ordered the 3 way on creating my own dish, I requested for sweet potato fries. What I got was regular fries. Fifth, when I finished my ST Patty's beer, I wanted something else to drink. She explained how their root beer was on tap and how it was so good. I agreed. She later returned to tell me they were out. I then settled for water and lemon. Sixth, my husband asked for jalapeño cornbread and instead, he got what I assume is regular cornbread with hard pieces of something inside. Again, not happy about that. Seventh, when requesting for a To Go box, I asked for a second box for my fries so they wouldn't get soggy. That took me asking a second time for it because she forgot the two times prior coming to our table without it. Eighth, remember that root beer that I was never served because they were out? Well that didn't stop her from charging us for it. Ninth, not ONCE did she ask if we needed a refill or if my kids were okay on their drinks. They weren't, so I had to share my water with them too.
