I hadn't been there in a year. In 2022 the food was outstanding. I took my family on Monday July 3rd, 2023. I ordered their flagship dish of 3 barbecue items with sides. The meat items we served room temperature and tasted blan. All the sides were served in very small plastic containers and also tasted bland. I was extremely disappointed. Apparently, the chef there doesn't care about what's being served or has poor training. That's the last time going there for us. Just lousy. read more

If you are looking for good BBQ this is the place!! The Mac and cheese was outstanding and the pulled pork sandwich couldn't have been better on a day like today! The service was great and staff were friendly and helpful. The vibe is an adult crowd, which seems harder to find these days. Lots of sports games on and people to chat with. ATM inside :) thanks for a great time! read more

My go to bbq place when traveling in Liverpool area.....great friendly staff, good service, awesome food. Spicy bbq smoked wings are soooo good. Never have been disappointed with their food read more

I never write reviews but I had a very disappointing experience here tonight. I ordered 1/3 rack ribs and brisket. I peeled back the crust on the ribs and blood was prevalent through the entire 1/3 rack under the crust. I did not feel comfortable eating them and I asked the waitress to get a new rack - she was very pleasant! However, the blonde woman manager who then came over was very rude. She proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that it was a "smoke ring" although everyone at my table agreed it was not a pink smoke ring it was red, flowing blood. I told her we frequently smoke ribs at home and I understand the pink smoke rings but she did not seem to care and argued with me. read more

Walking into this loud BBQ joint, you are ushered past the bar where the local boys are wetting their whistles. Thought I had made a very bad mistake in coming to this restaurant with my wife! However, to my surprise, the brisket and BBQ chicken was very tasty. The quality of the meal surprised me in that it tasted as if I was in Texas. Would come back when in town again. read more

I've eaten here in the past when in town on business but it's been a few years. Sat outside and the service was great. The food was very good, has a combo of chicken and brisket and both were cooked perfect. The raspberry bbq sauce is amazing. Will definitely be back when in the area again. read more

I was visiting family in CNY, and after a fun hour at Onondaga Lake Park we decided to grab a bite to eat. We decided on the Liverpool Limp Lizard. I like that their beer on tap selection has a little something for everyone! Service was attentive and friendly. The food is reasonably priced, and the portions are more than generous! I got one of the brisket sandwiches, and the meat was PILED on! I had to take the other half home. Overall, a great dining experience and surprisingly kid friendly! read more

Limp Lizard - Bbq menu - Barbeque Near Me - Liverpool, New York

See all

I was craving some good barbeque (damn you FoodNetwork!) and opted for Limp Lizard in Liverpool instead of Smokey Bones. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. The food isn't terrible by any means, but it wasn't the drool worthy barbeque I wanted. We started with Pig Skins, potato skins with pulled pork on top. They were potato skins... with a heap of pulled pork. Nothing special at all. For entrees, we ordered the Smoked Wings as well as the Platter (3-way) with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The ribs were the best part of this meal. Fall of the bone and super tender. They had to make up for the lack of flavor in everything by smothering it in barbeque sauce. Our waitress was quick and efficient, but not overly friendly. When you pop into the bathroom, you definitely get the sense they are trying to compete with Dinosaur, but they're losing. They did have a few things on their menu (not barbeque related) that sounded pretty good, so we may go back again... undecided. read more

I called 2 weeks in advance to set up a small catered lunch and was promised a call back closer to event. I never got a call back, so 4 days before event, I called again to check. They had no record of my order but said they would call back right away. They didn't call, so once again I called. I was then told they weren't accepting any orders for catering and tried to blame me for not calling earlier. Total incompetence on their part. Very disturbing. I will not go there again. read more

went here for the first time & honestly i was really disappointed! thought this place was supposed to be on par with dino bbq - maybe i caught them on a bad night. i worked at bull and bear for a while, and was under the impression limp lizard was better - but my experience with the food here was way worse than anything i had at bull & bear. i got the 3 sliders, which was $14 (!!). i thought they would hve maybe had some cheese, slaw, or anything at all on them really, to set them apart from each other, but it was just 3 buns with 3 diff meats - nothing else, did not come with a side (the server did at least mention this before i ordered). the same bbq sauce was poured over all three, one was brisket, one was pulled pork, and one was mexican style pulled chicken. i guess i expected a little more for $14. my partner got the cheesesteak, which came with two sides, and was $14. his was way more food for the money, and he enjoyed it! i tried a bite and it was just ok to me - it tasted like they used cheeze whiz/nacho cheese sauce. service was just ok, nothing special. i was going to order a beer but did not see a drink menu on our table. also kind of wish we sat outside - the booth section we were sat in, way too close together, and low ceilings, just feltike they squeezed 4 booths into a space that was too small for 4 booths. overall, might give it another try, but will have to wait a while or maybe go to another location. read more

Ok, so we tried Dinosaur's first. But it was crowded, loud, and long delay before seating. I'm so glad we left for Limp Lizard - it was exactly what we wanted. The service was sassy and fun, the food was really good, the tap selection broad, and the ambiance suited us perfectly. I had pulled pork and 1/4 rack ribs, and savored every last bite. I'm a real BBQ fan, and have eaten it all over the country: The Limp Lizard earned its 5 stars read more

When we called to order takeout, the person taking the order was rude and message us wait 12 mins before coming back on to take our order. After getting home and opening the containers, the order was wrong. I can't have bread and had ordered slaw and seasonal veggies. We received the tomato salad and corn bread. Needless to say I only got half a dinner. I called to let them know and was given attitude. Not very happy tonight. read more

Very good bbq. I really enjoy the blueberry bbq sauce that you can get on the brisket the "big blue" I believe it's called. I wish they'd sell that in a bottle and/or offer that on other dishes read more

Good food, typical BBQ restaurant atmosphere, and great prices. Overall I was satisfied with the menu, service, and food. I went with the brisket Rueben and it came with fries and Mac and cheese. I thought it was all great, my only complaint is that for a BBQ restaurant they should offer more then just one type of BBQ sauce. What if some people want sweet BBQ while others want a hotter one? Aside from that I had no issues with my experience at Limp Lizard. read more

Limp Lizard is one of our go to restaurants! There is never a huge wait, they have great food, fun/child friendly atmosphere and a great bar with ever changing craft beers. They always have sports on and have great food and drink specials during the games. Live music on weekends is a bonus too! You really can't go wrong with any of the food choices. Some of my favorites are the wings (I'm salt sensitive so I can only eat a couple), pulled pork, ribs, cuban, smoked turkey sandwich, tacos, etc. Tonight I tried something new and had a burger with pulled pork on top. It was a large party and cooked perfectly (a huge pet peeve of mine is an overcooked burger!) I got cole slaw and mac n cheese on the side. Their sides are all fantastic and it's always hard to choose. Their cole slaw is some of the best I've ever had and always a great addition to the pulled pork. I also love the sweet potato fries, tomato/cuc salad, beans, and salt potatoes to name a few. They have great bbq sauce too! Friends of had them cater their party and all the food was fantastic. Highly recommend Limp Lizard! read more

I used to have lunch here twice a week then covid, fast forward two years and it was the worst dinning experience we have ever had. So we have pretty much two famous BBQ places here in our city and surrounding areas. I won't name the other one, but you all know exactly who I speak of. I can tell you honestly that they both are super close when it comes to ranking them in flavor and price. Both have their own unique flavors as well. I typically always get pulled pork here and sometimes I get the brisket. The sides are extremely tasty and appear to be home made. The sauce for the BBQ isn't to overwhelming. This is all good thing because you really want to taste the smokiness of the pork itself. The pricing is pretty much about the same as the other guys and you can expect to pay about forty bucks for two people. That includes entrees and a drink. I don't really get appetizers often, so I can't speak for those. I recommend coming here when you feel like you want a different flavor then the other big name in town. You won't be disappointed. read more

We were seated at 9pm. They are advertised as being open til 11am. We were immediately told the kitchen closes at 10. Uhhhhh. Okay? So we sit down, and for 25 minutes, no one pays any attention to us. The hostess and waitress walked by us and made eye contact but did nothing. By the time we walked out, the entire staff was talking amongst themselves and just hanging out in the back. We were literally the only table in the entire restaurant. There were a few dudes on the bar side, but wtf? Never going back. Never ordering from there either. Way to be a second rate Dinosaur BBQ. That would have never happened there. 0/10. would never recommend. read more

The only reason that we gave 1 star was that we could not give less. This is probably one of the worst run restaurants in the area. We have gone there for years and food is fine but service is very slow. Recent visit was the last straw. After waiting for about 15 minutes to order drinks we were finally served then ordered our food. After 45 more minutes or so with no food in sight, we finally told the waitress we were going and wanted the drinks bill. She did not say a word but just ran the bill plunked it down on the table and left. Not a word of sorry for the wait or anything so this probably happens often. Not going back. read more

Liverpool's Limp Lizard was hopping on a recent Tuesday night. We were there to check out the scene... Sit in with the house band and get us some good eats. We shared the house made fried green tomatoes. They were served hot and crispy with a sauce on the side. The tomatoes themselves were awesome, but the sauce was a little on the weak side. After that we shared the three-way platter with brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The brisket was truly the star of this plate, with the pulled pork and the ribs coming in second and third. Slaw was a little sweet, and the collard greens could've used a little heat. Everything delicious and we will definitely go back. Service was fast and friendly; though my request for paper towels in the men's room went unanswered for the entire evening. The music was fantastic! The house band killed it from the first tune and soon after the guests wowed us with catchy arrangements of familiar tunes and some great originals. Cool hang on a Tuesday night! read more

We are new to town and we were really looking forward to giving this place a try! Came in to eat around 8pm and the hostess seated at the last available table on the patio. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My husband and I along with some friends had probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had when we attempted to eat here. We called ahead to make sure that our party of 9 could be accommodated. We we're told yes, they'd have a table in the back. We arrived on time and we're seated. Our server took awhile to stop by and get our drink order. We waited about 10min to get our drinks (drafts from the bar). We immediately placed our food order. My husband and I got an appetizer. it took 30min for our appetizer to arrive. The server never checked on us or offered refills on our drinks during this time. We ate the appetizers and after waiting 1.5hr, we still didn't have our food. We weren't offer more drinks or anything. We tracked down the manager and asked why our food was taking so long. Her response was that it was a Friday night and our wait was normal. The restaurant wasn't that busy, still plenty of empty tables. We finally got up to leave because we were tired of waiting. The manger literally chased us outside because we were leaving and they had started cooking our food and said we needed to pay for it. We explained we weren't paying for food we didn't get, we'd had terrible service, and we were leaving. She proceeded to scream at us as we left. I will never go back k here. I e never been treated so poorly ever. I've worked in restaurants before as a server and a bar tender and never witnessed behavior like this. read more

Interesting that your staff likes to sit at the bar and harass customers when they aren't working, telling them to "f-ck off" when they don't want to have a conversation. Will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place, incredibly unprofessional. Do better. read more

Cute tiny rustic Bbq joint. The brisket was amazing. Nice smoky flavor and extremely tender. Came apart with little effort. I also tried the pulled pork for my sample platter. The pulled pork was very good. The 2 sides I picked were mac and cheese and coleslaw. The mac and cheese was good but the coleslaw lacks flavor. It needed some vinegar and maybe a touch of salt. The prices were average for a bbq restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to others. The staff and our waitress were friendly. read more

Limp Lizard - Pick 2 platter brisket and pulled pork with slaw and mac & cheese - Barbeque Near Me - Liverpool, New York

Pros Nice, attentive staff, nice outside seating, nice indoor seating. Good selection of beer. I had the blueberry jalapeno boneless wings and they were great! The beef brisket was good and the pulled pork was good. Mac and cheese was really good. Prices were reasonable. The not so good. The bun that the pulled pork was in was a soggy mess. The cornbread and the jalapeno cornbread was way too dry, crumbling in my hand and mouth, and the bits of corn kernels in it were hard. The collard greens were an actual insult to my mouth. A few refinements and the whole meal could be out of this world, but I guess that's was separates a decent restaurant from a great one. read more

I love the environment, honestly the food has been the best it's even been the last 2-3 months! The new cook they brought in is great

I don't know how the food was. Because after ordering and being told it would be 30 minutes they said it would be a bit longer. At that point I waited and they came back and apologized that they didn't have the food that I ordered and would I be interested in anything else. Heard they had bad service and they proved themselves in one fell swoop read more

I wish I could give this place a negative -5 stars. This was some of the worst food I've ever had. There food has absolutely no flavor. I ordered the wings, they were barely warm, you could tell they had been pre-made and microwaved to the point where they were extremely dried out. The only thing worst then their main course is their sides, no love, no flavor, no ambition or passion whatsoever is placed in their sides. It was the the most unpleasant culinary experience I've had in a long time. They didn't even bother to warm up the sides, it was as if they served them cold from a fridge. This shows no care or respect for the consumers. I would bank that most of the postive reviews are from friends, family and co-workers, because no honest palette would ever consider Limp Lizard even remotely quality food. To call the food at this place terrible would be a compliment. Do not eat here, you will be gravely disappointe; I know my family was. read more

If you like food that should be server warm or hot cold this place is for you. Went here twice and both times it was terrible, and the service wasn't much better, at least one waitress microwaved my meal. The good thing there are two other locations in CNY and both are much much better. read more

Food as usual is good ,but the new bartender not so much. Not a very busy day still took 15-20 mins to even acknowledge we were there. Forgot to put in my side order. Then when it came time to pay she just assumed she deserved a 40% tip and didn't even bother to ask if I needed change. Also half the beer were either out or about to go flat and not very cold. read more

Let me start by saying that I really wanted to like this place. Great atmosphere with good blues music and pretty ladies behind the bar. One of the bartenders was fantastic and gained the attention of some of the local lounge lizard types. The other young lady was new and probably never worked in a bar before. She was very pretty but suffered from the I am hot and don't give a shit syndrome. They had 5 dollar pitcher night. The young lady poured a pint by mistake. I watched as the lonely pint sat at the waitress station for about 10 minutes. When alerted to the problem she poured the pint into the pitcher and filled the rest with fresh beer....yuk....I tried the house IPA (made by Syracuse Brewery) and it tasted like dirty tap. I finally settled on a bottle of Miller Lite. anyway....I ordered the pick 2 combo with2 sides. The chicken was so dry and overcooked I put it aside. Seemed as though it fell into the deep fryer. The ribs were just ok....collard greens way too salty....pretty good cole slaw. I may have been here on a bad night but anyone comparing this place to the dinosaur is nuts... read more

The place is ok not great and yes there is better BBQ joints in area. The service here is not great, once they served the food they never come back to see if we needed something else we had to go find waiter for drink refills. I was not a fan of the BBQ sauce thought it to sweet and to thin but sauces are a personal preference I had ribs and brisket thought brisket was to dry and lacked flavor. Ribs were ok but again lacked flavor and solid smoke ring. Not sure if I would go back probably not I would have given it 2.5 stars if possible, it's just not solid 3 in my view read more
