It says something that I got here just 15 minutes late and everyone else was already getting their food. Prompt service. And as I looked at what everyone else was eating (and offering me, since all of the plates were massive), I think the food was good quality as well. I ordered the poutine on the basis that I knew it would be fried cheese curds and BBQ pork (Northern NY BBQ, not Southern), so that's what I got. Not the best - all a bit too fried and dried - but I plowed my way through every cheesy bite. Perfect balance of ingredients all the way through. I also kinda destroyed an entire bottle of hot sauce in the process. The others were impressed. Other components: When you walk in, it's a bar. You walk past the bar and suddenly it's a restaurant. More than one person appeared to get lost trying to figure this out, and I think one group even turned around and left because they were looking for a restaurant and not a bar. Their loss. Other than the TVs (which I enjoyed for some live sports), the restaurant and bar don't feel like they're the same even though there's no door between them. I didn't want to drink since I hadn't yet driven to my hotel, so I can only review the restaurant and not the beer... but pretty good overall. Everyone wanted the food to go, not a bit left behind, meaning they all liked it too. Good deal. read more

Their saving grace are their smoked wings which are smoked then fried and are great. Been there twice and both times the meat came out cold. The sides, with the exception of the French fries and sweet potato fries are very small and the chile was watery. The service was very nice though. read more

I went to Limp Lizard for dinner on a week night and had a great experience! The waitress was super kind and quick, the food was yummy, and we got to sit outside since it was finally warmer and not raining! We tried the nashville hot chicken sandwhich and medium boneless wings and neither were spicy, I definitely could've enjoyed some more spice.. I also wish they had some more dipping options on their menu. We split half of what we got and shared and enjoyed everything! read more

Only 4 stars because the sides were all just okay, but the actual barbecue here was so good. Burnt ends sandwich and a brisket sandwich, both flavorful, smoky and delicious. Waitress was nice, food came out quickly. We had to rush out to catch a flight (our fault for losing track of time). It's a bar so you're getting bar atmosphere, but we'd recommend this place to others. Haven't tried other locations but really enjoyed our meal here. read more

My out of town brother selected Limp Lizard for our meetup. No wait at the bar. I asked for a recommendation for a summer friendly coctail and was served a pineapple upside down cake martini! Pineapple, vanilla delish! We moved to an outdoor table with village view. Service was friendly and attentive at the bar and the patio. The guys both had rib dinners one with Mac and cheese and hell Fire chili. Cucumber salad and fries. I ordered a brisket bbq sandwich with Mac cheese and the chili as well. The guys loved the ribs and the Smokey bbq flavor. Mac and cheese was a hit, so creamy and blend of cheeses. Their hellfire chili is debatable, I enjoy it but it's not your classic chili, consists of mostly seasoned ground beef that packs a little heat it's definitely not close to hell fire for me topped with a bit of cheese and sour cream. It lacks moisture that crushed tomato, tomato paste or broth would improve viscosity. The brisket sandwich is huge with a Smokey bbq flavor topped with cheese and bacon. Some fatty bites but to be expected. Rage review from the guys voting for LL ribs over DBQ! Ifykyk the smokiness sets them apart! read more

The service I received here was fine but maybe a little slow. Not many people in the place but didn't check back so often. The food left a lot to be desired. My side of chili was tasty but a bit greasy and very small. The chicken sandwich had the breading falling off. I have tried them out at food truck events and do enjoy the walking taco they do. I also tried them at the taco festival and the taco was simple but a good portion for the price. I would go back and try more of the menu to see if I like some of the other food better. read more

I have to say that I just had the best catfish dinner here at the limp lizard and Nicolette was our service. She was fantastic!!!!!! Black beans and rice. Awesome cornbread was the best I've ever had and I'm from the Midwest for cornbread is big and I have to say this is totally delicious. I have to say that this is better than any southern state. Job well done.!!!!! read more

Great food and good staff. Prices are average to high but you get what you pay for. This is def comparable if not better at times than other places such as dinosaur. If you sit in the bar area it is loud, if you don't like loud ask to sit in the area as you walk in. The wait time here isn't bad at all for a good bbq place. I've turned her numerous times when other places had long waits within the area and always gotten in rather quick. read more

Now I am not a person who writes reviews but often but when I find something that I think other people should definitely be giving a shot it's Limp Lizard. The sides weren't anything to write home about good but not great. But this is a BBQ spot and you want to know how it is. I split the Brisket Sandwich and Burnt Ends sandwich with my wife. Put some respect on Limp Lizards name. Sandwiches were fire. My favorite the burnt ends sandwich wakes up your taste buds in the best of ways. Stopped in on our way to the airport but will definitely be back for you Lot Lizard. read more

I'm originally from the south. I love barbecue. But I went vegetarian over 13 years ago and have a hard time finding BBQ restaurants that I can actually eat at. While I did not technically get BBQ food at Limp Lizard, I did get amazing food and tons of options to choose from, which made me feel included in the party! I ended up ordering the Black Bean Burger with a side of Mac & Cheese and Cucumber Tomato Salad. It was delicious. And I was so happy to not have the new favorite "vegetarian go-to" for every restaurant-- the Beyond Burger option... I just can't with those anymore. We sat at the bar and our bartender was just the loveliest bundle of joy ever. She was so sweet, attentive, and genuine. We could tell that her regulars loved her as well. Limp Lizard is set in the heart of the center of Liverpool, a quick walk from our Airbnb. It's quirky and quaint, while also enjoying a very obvious lively atmosphere. If I lived in the area, I would be here all the time. read more

Liverpool Limp Lizard is on point again. We ordered to go this time, so we could enjoy our meal watching Thurs. night football at home. I ordered my usual Cowboy Salad with side of hellfire chili. Portion was huge as always. Especially the chili. That's a SIDE!! Great flavors and best when combined together. Janice ordered the Nashville hot chicken. She appreciated the sauce on the side. It was not too hot either. Just the right amount of heat. The two sides were tasty as well. We've always had a good meal here. The place was packed on a Thursday night. Our bartender/server did an excellent job. It was only her fourth night working there! It's a definite Check em Out rating!! read more

Wow... I really liked this place I had the brisket and smoked wings dinner. The dinner included 2 sides which I picked the slaw and the chili... I really enjoyed the chili it was awesome but the slaw was a bit to vinaigre tasting for me. The corn bread was delicious. The brisket was really good but the wings with the blueberry BBQ sauce were the belle of the the ball. This is well worth visiting the service was awesome. I had a great time. read more

How sad the restaurant has changed in service & especially the food ! Their has been an complete change in staff & food prep cooks . The food is mediocre to say the least, not fantastic as before the change. We WERE regulars & now we will be looking for another place to hang out hats. Tried this place out after a Yelp event and it was ok. Food: I ordered the brisket platter with a side of spicy chilli and collard greens. The brisket was cooked really good and the sauce was flavorful too. The chili was extra greasy and it had spice but not actual flavor and the greens taste was non existent. The fact that the brisket was really good I could excuse it but everything in the plate was lukewarm. Of course I took it home and warned it up which allowed me to get the full flavor of the meat. Service: The waitress was really nice and attentive. She gave us many recommendations on the drinks and her favorite foods on the menu. Decor: The place looks a bit like a dive bar but it don't bother me. There's plenty of room if you have a big party. All and all it's a 3/5 but if I was in the area I might come back. read more

A big disappointment after being a regular at Onondaga Blvd which is 5*. This is a poor 2nd best. I only went because I had a local flavour coupon which they don't accept for take away unlike the other. I ordered my favourite burnt ends with fries because they were out of salt potatoes. Red flag right there. The burnt ends were not the same little treats, caramel and burnt flavour mixed with a modicum of bbq sauce. They were great hard lumps of pork with no caramelisation and incredibly chewy. The French fries were incredibly soggy and virtually inedible. I cannot recommend this place, especially as Onondaga Blvd is so good. Difficult to believe it's the same company. read more

I love this place. Awesome variety of beers, friendly staff, and awesome food. This place in Liverpool,NY has the BEST wings I have ever had. I honestly don't know why this place has such low rating. They are a ton better than Dinosaur BBQ up here! At least the one in Liverpool. I had an awesome experience here! The staff were all friendly even waitresses that weren't assigned to my table all smiled as they passed by. The bartender was personable and I watched her have a great time interacting with all her customers. The food was great! I had the smoked wings and the flavor was perfect! The mashed potatoes and gravy were also good. The Hellfire chili had good flavor and wasn't as spicy as advertised but I can see how it could be considered very spicy. No offense to the non hardened taste buds. The crowd was a mixed bag of customers so it seemed to fit everyone equally. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Syracuse/Liverpool area. read more

Love this bbq!! I personally like it better than dinosaur bbq. My opinion is that the brisket has more flavor and I love the blueberry jalapeño sauce on it. The potatoes are creamy and the bbq beans have changed and for the better. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasty. On a busy Friday night we got a table and the service was fantastic! Only had to wait about 20 minutes for our food and they have juice bomb on tap which is always a good beer with bbq! Very enjoyable meal with enough to take home. read more

Horrible service. Hardly saw our server and couldn't even find her if we needed anything. Food was okay but nothing special. Do better.

Food was not good received beef brisket that was completely all fat. After dinner waitress brought checks. Never asked if we wanted dessert. After dinner, trying to have conversations, the music was turned up extremely loud. Bartender kept coming on the other side of the bar making out with boyfriend. Bartender proceeded to put up all the chairs on the bar, making it seem like they were closing wanted us to leave and it was only 730 at night. The bartender needed to read the room. There were two tables of groups of people that were not drinking a lot trying to have conversation conversations however they kept playing very loud obnoxious music that we couldn't even hear to talk. I would never go back again worse place for atmosphere. read more

The Liverpool location surprised me after my previous experiences at another location. Pretty decent bbq, pretty good prices, really good service, not a crazy loud or packed dining room, and never have had the long Dinosaur-like wait. As a bar, I'd skip it; but as a place to get bbq, worth being in the rotation for dinner. read more

Stopped Sunday afternoon. We both got a pulled pork sandwich, mine dry and hers with sauce. Mashed potatoes and baked beans. Plate came out and it had 2 small plastic cups for the mashed and for the beans. Funny, I felt like I was in a cafeteria. Ate them all , soso potatoes, then the sandwich. It was not hot and tasted like it has salt seasoning on it, and no smoky BBQ flavor. Did mention to waitress but did not want to put her on the spot. Tasted Wifes sandwich with sauce,, had very little sauce too,, it was the same as mine. Beans were the best thing there, wish I took a pic,, but I failed to do that. Something has changed there for sure. Too bad. Well on to the next restaurant, hope its better there. read more

Waitress started off great even checked on my meal a few minutes after delivering it and then ghosted. I waited over a half hour, no exaggeration, card in hand, even caught the eye of the other waitress and the hostess but they just looked at me and watched me look for my waitress and left. Smoked Turkey was juicy tender and smoke flavor was good, brisket was a bit fatty but tender and well seasoned, greens lacked more pork flavor but were tender, mashed were good, and corn bread was tasty although a bit dry. Not wanting to cause a scene in a semi busy restaurant (there were plenty of open tables so not busy on a Thursday night yet), I called the restaurant. Hostess apologized then brought my to go box and took my card offering to bring lids for the remaining greens and mashed which are now served in small to go cups. My waitress came back with the lids and her excuse was it was busy and she had to take phone in orders although when I called she was not the one answering the phone and when I did Grubhub taking and bringing those orders out was always the job of the host or hostess at the door. Whatevs, had been a while and will be again. read more

Horrible. Brisket must've been cooked a week prior to our arriving and the beans were straight out of a can. Ribs were the hands down worst I have ever eaten. Service generally is good. But 3 out of 5 of my last visits it's been cold. It is good food especially the brisket, just repeatedly served cold. Not sure what their issue is... but it seems easily fixable. I was not interested in a 10% discount, I would have preferred hot food and pay full price.
