This place is amazing combination of Peruvian and Chinese fusion. One of my new favorite restaurants in town. We started with the Anticuchos De Pollo for an appetizer and it was the most tender chicken dish I have ever had. The spice components just keeps you coming back for every bite. I then went to two different main courses of Amos Con Pollo and the Chaufa De Pollo. Both dishes were amazing and so different from each other it was mind blowing. I think both dishes were fantastic and that I could not pick which one I would pick over each other. Good luck with that peeps! I tried their Flan De Lucuma for desert and still managed to clean my plate after all the previous. The Carmel crust just made it pop with the hints of lucuma sauce. Try it. The food was delicious! It's not the typical Peruvian food I tasted before. But we had a chance to talk to the owner and he said a lot of the ways they were cooking the food was how he made it in Peru. Service was very good and friendly staff. Since it was not crowded, they did not rush us out. It's a hidden little treasure, because you can't see it from the main road. But definitely worth trying. read more

You know this place is good when it can get the brisk business it does on the backside of a strip mall....loved it. Authentic Peruvian food made from family recipes. By far one of my favorite restaurants to visit. My husband introduced me to this restaurant last year and I absolutely fell in love with Peruvian cuisine. Never Again! Horrible Experience, used their website reservation system only to receive no contact or confirmation so I called the following day and was then given a 6pm reservation but told I may have to wait about 15 minutes as they were going to be very busy that date. Showed up only to be told I had no reservation and would have to sit in another room, the one with pale walls, almost zero notable décor and best described as the strip mall vacant store, the seating area I did not even see in website photos but then realized I did miss a photo of it, my fault, there was one (1) of 514 other photos displayed to see on Yelp. If you go just ask for the spot where you cannot see any of the entertainment, you get to listen to the music through the wall and the wait staff goes in and out between the building in efforts to take care of your order. So very many things were wrong, such as the stringing along that they were working to get me seated in the main dining area, to which I finally realized they had no such intention as I finished my dinner. I also liked that on my previous first visit with some Peruvian friends we had all been served water (free in glasses) during the meal. but this time (my second visit) when two of our five Non-Peruvian group asked for glasses of water it was brought in plastic bottles, which I thought was very odd. I did figure it out though when I saw the bill and they had charged me $7.00 for the two waters. The mandatory added 20% tip tacked on to the bill regardless of party size was also a nice touch that I saw in the small print on the menu after I had ordered. In keeping with what I felt was like the theme of my dining experience, on the way home I thought about looking for a game of Three Card Monty or perhaps a man standing near an alley wearing a trench coat that could sell me a Rolex for $50.00. My advice don't walk away from Lima Taverna RUN. read more

Let me start by saying the food was ok, the desserts weren't. The ceviche was very good. The service was just ok at best. The reason for the low rating is poor customer service. I was billed for plates I didn't order, told the waiter, he argued with me. I paid the bill, including the automatic 20% due to party size. I spoke with the owner to remedy, Eliseo, no resolution. Bottom line, I was over charged for just ok overpriced food made them aware (twice) and no equitable resolution reached. Will never go there again. read more

Having lived in Peru, I was very impressed! We ordered the ceviche first, and it was perfect. Then came the lomo saltado and aji de gallina. The lomo was succulent, perfectly cooked. The aji de gallina was spot on. We drank chicha morada and it was just right. We topped the meal off with alfajores that were amazing. Service was excellent. This is key because compared to Peruvian prices, this food is not cheap. That said, this food is really good! Chef came to the table, personally presented some of the dishes, and made sure he spoke with each guest and each patron was satisfied. I've seen other Peruvian restaraunts in the DFW area, but none do it this good. The only other Peruvian restaurant I've seen close to this level is Lima Criolla, in Austin. The success of this restaurant is no accident. I would not be surprised if Gastón Acurio was not a mentor. Must try! read more

Lima, Lima, what a gem you are! I stumbled across this hidden delight and I am so glad I did. The decor is spot on for the restaurant. Red napkins against the wood tables is a nice contrast and feels right for this place. The service was fantastic. They have accents--get over it. It's a Peruvian restaurant and this gives it a flare. My girlfriend and I had a good glass of Pino and were happy with their wine selection even though we are wine snobs. We had the salmon and the pork chop dish--both were well prepared and scrumptious. The salmon was sitting in a bed of mussels and scallops in this broth that is as close to heaven as you can get. The salmon had a perfect crust and was drool worthy. My companions pork chop was delicious and was a bone in, dark meat chop--way more flavorful! I am excited to enjoy more diverse tastes, and this place fit the bill. What a fantastic experience! The decor, food, and staff were all so impressive. My husband and I had never tried Peruvian food and thought we would make this our food-venture for the week. We ordered a light lunch of Leche de Tigre and anticuchos de pollo and they were both fabulous! The antichucos de pollo were chicken skewers that were very tender and had great spice/seasoning. The Leche de Tigre was fabulous. Honestly in the running for the best ceviche I've had (and I try it A LOT). The citrus tang from the lime mixed with the salt, fish, peppers, Peruvian corn and onions was so good I had to fight off the urge to turn that glass up and drink the leftover juice! Ana, our server, gave us a sample of their chicha morada drink. It's a traditional Peruvian drink made from boiling purple corn along with pineapple, cinnamon, clove, and sugar. So, so good! The staff was fantastic. They took time to educate us on their culture and comida! We met EVERYONE! Another great reason to visit, Saturday night's live music! The food isn't bad, but the horrendous service overshadows the food for possibly being one of the worst we've experienced in history. Waitresses run past our table like they're trying to avoid serving you. We ordered a couple drinks. 5 mins after ordering, another waitress comes over to see if we ordered drinks. They forgot one of the drinks we ordered. For the arroz con pollo, it was a piece of chicken breast. Not chicken on the bone. When we asked, they said they ran out of chicken on the bone. They should have warned us ahead of time. The ceviche is really good! That I'll give them. We asked for a check. 10 mins goes by. We asked again. Another 10 minutes. We had to ask 4 additional times. We were ready to just walk out but they finally arrived with it. Had to explain to the waitress that they have some serious service issues that need to be resolved. But I don't think she fully comprehended. Paid by credit card. That took 20 minutes to run the bill through. HD to ask for it 5 times. This may have been one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. I don't see how this place can survive. read more

Came here after church, craving Peruvian food. It had a 4 star rating, so I was expecting great food and service. My sons and I received neither. Waited 45 minutes to get 2 of the 3 orders, I got up and refilled my own water. The place did not have a lot of customers either. Our plates were 22 dollars each. Unreal, paid 70 dollars for three plates and water. Service was terrible and the food was average. It's too bad , place has potential . Never coming here again. read more

We moved to Dallas from New York almost two months ago and we've almost given up completely on finding some of our favorite cuisines in the DFW area. Well, I'm glad to say that, except for the grilled chicken, Lima Taverna is as good as our local spot in Jackson Heights, NYC. Pisco sours are legit, papas ala huancaina and cacha, with a Cuzquena beer are on the money. Mixed seafood ceviche was excellent, just like abuelita used to make. And, to truly judge a place, went with the lomo saltado and an arroz chaufa. All dishes were fantastic and service was excellent. Lastly, top it off with live music from a wonderful performer singing salsa, merengue and bachata closed out a fantastic night. read more

My wife's grandmother is Peruvian, so we like to indulge in her family's culture. The staff is super friendly and will explain any dish you may have questions about. The owner came over to our table when my wife, her. Family and I went in the day before our wedding for a big lunch. The owner was awesome and even brought us some traditional Peruvian celebration shots. I always get the empanadas to start; they are so amazing. My wife likes the Leche de Tigre. I ALWAYS get a Golden Cola (Inka cola); it's like a citrus Big Red...soooo good. I usually order at least 2 Inkas. The wife gets the Chicha Morada, which is like sangria with a clove flavor and is also amazing. I typically order the Lomo Saltado. The beef is perfectly wok seared and in a sweet soy sauce with big slices of onions over a bed of fried potatoes; which are basically French fries. It's such a good dish, my mouth is watering as I write this. read more

How dare you call on this stuff Peruvian food!! You're giving the great culinary reputation of Peruvian food a bad name. Only people who have never been to Perú can be fooled by it. Terrible food, served on pretty plates! Extremely overpriced for the quality. Horrible service - hey only had 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant on a busy night. I couldn't even get my water refilled ... and then, without even telling your customers, you dare to add 20% for the tip for this bad service. Heard great stories from this place so decided to try some of my favorites from back home. The ceviche was decent, needed a bit more if rocoto to bring up the flavor. Maybe a suggestion will be to ask the customers if you wanted a bit spicier? The anticuchos were good but it lacks on quantity. The lomo saltado was my biggest dissapointment. Had lots of nerve on the meat on a a dish where the meat is the star. The meat seemed boiled instead of flamed at a high heat. Service wad good, server kept checking on us and refilling our drinks. Need to check the quality of your meats and maybe increasing portioning. read more
