This is our first time at Lima Tavern, and it won't be the last. We found it through the AAdvantage Dining Program, and we can't be any happier. If you like authentic Peruvian cuisine, don't miss it. The food was excellent! We started with the Papas a la Huancaina, a classic, five stars. I ordered the Tallarines Verdes con Asado (Peruvian Pesto Noodles with Steak), and it was delicious. César, our server, told us that it takes time because everything is prepared fresh, so the wait was super worth it. My wife ordered a Quinoa Salad with Chicken; she really liked it. We didn't know quinoa originated in Peru, but now we do. Cesar was always attentive and often came to our table to ensure we had everything. Overall, we had a great time, and we hope to return soon to try the ceviche and many other dishes.

Great little Peruvian restaurant. Service was great, and food was pretty good. They have live music on Saturday evening.

Just a wonderful dining experience! The steak was so tender and full of flavor! The civiche was one of a kind! Definitely a must try again!

Taverna Lima delivers a feast for the senses--where Peruvian tradition meets artistic presentation and unforgettable flavor. From the moment the plate arrives, it's clear that Taverna Lima isn't just serving food, it's telling a story. The dish in the photo, a stunning rendition of Lomo Saltado, is a masterclass in culinary elegance. The beef is tender and richly coated in a savory, soy-infused sauce that clings lovingly to sautéed red onions and sweet peppers, creating a harmony of textures and flavors. Thick-cut potato wedges add a golden crispness, while the molded white rice stands tall like a proud monument to tradition, crowned with a delicate purple orchid that whispers of Lima's floral soul. What sets this experience apart is the attention to detail. The plating is not just beautiful, it's poetic. Every element feels intentional, from the vibrant color palette to the balance of textures. It's a dish that honors Peru's multicultural culinary heritage, blending Chinese stir-fry technique with Andean ingredients in a way that feels both authentic and elevated. The ambiance at Taverna Lima matches the plate's sophistication. Nestled in Plano, this gem offers a warm, vibrant atmosphere with live music and heartfelt hospitality. The staff treats you like family, and the menu is a celebration of Peru's rich flavors--from ceviche to maracuyá drink, each item crafted with imported ingredients that preserve the soul of the cuisine.

My favorite restaurant I've been to in a long time! From the second you walk in, the mood is set. The menu is not overly complex, but still has many great options to choose from. I tried the Lomo Saltado and it was delicious. For dessert, I had the Picarones with a coffee and it was great. I want to thank César and the owner Eliseo for an amazing experience and giving background on the food and fun stories as well. Will be coming back here again soon and Thank You!

This is a nice little Peruvian restaurant tucked away in the back of a strip. The menu had a good selection of dishes including ceviche, cuts of steak and seafood. The Lomo Saltado I ordered was good. Meat was tender. Cooked in an oriental style sauce almost like a kung pao. There was a sax player who started up midway through the meal and was very good. Service was ok.

My expectations were high after reading the reviews & the minute i walked in the restaurant looks and is clean, pleasant, the waitress was really friendly and approachable , service was really good. Now let's talk about the food. Ceviche mixto was good, calamari a little over cooked , and the fish was cut the wrong way so it was very tough, but the leche tigre was very tasty, good flavor. The pollo saltado was so salty that it was hard to eat and same the lomo saltado. Like i said service was extraordinary but food was not good and the price is pretty high!

The building is stunning, the décor is elevated, and the layout is much more spacious compared to the previous Gloria's location. You can definitely tell there was a full renovation, and it gives a more modern, open feel. I arrived right around opening (11 AM) and chose to sit at the bar. There were a few guests already there enjoying drinks and chips, which created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The bar staff--two gentlemen--were kind, attentive, and professional. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay, which came out promptly and was excellent. However, the timing of the food service is where things fell short. I ordered shrimp tacos, yet a guest seated next to me--who ordered after I did--received his entrée (which appeared to be a steak dish) well before mine. Considering it wasn't busy, this was a bit surprising. I did have to follow up on my order before it was brought out. When my food arrived, it was good overall, but it could have been warmer. I also added mixed vegetables, and this is something I want to highlight for safety purposes. The vegetables included greens like spinach with stems that were not properly trimmed or cut. I actually had a moment where I almost choked, which was concerning. This is definitely something the kitchen should review, as it could pose a risk if not prepared carefully. Overall, I would rate this experience a 7/10. The ambiance, drinks, and overall quality of food were solid, and I will absolutely return--Gloria's/Mexican Sugar has always been one of my go-to spots in Dallas. With a few improvements in food timing, temperature, and preparation details, this location has the potential to be exceptional. 7/10

Tried Gloria's for dinner the first time in their new location and was disappointed…read more Let's start with the chips and salsa - chips were fine, but the salsa was watered down. Not a good start. Ordered a frozen swirl margarita and normally this drink would give me a buzz. Not this time. Couldn't tell if there was alcohol in it. Maybe they're skimping on the Top Shelf? Ordered enchiladas- beef with red sauce, and chicken with sour cream sauce. The chicken was moist, but both sauces were bland. Like seriously-no taste. The rice on the plate was shaped liked a hockey puck and had the same consistency. Didn't order dessert. Was pretty put off by the food. I really hope they get their act together and stop cutting corners. The new place is nice, but I feel like they're trying to save $$ to pay for this new location. I'll try again in a few months. They got 3 stars for nostalgic reasons and a hope they get back to what made them so good before. But for now, cost cutting is the primary menu item.
