Came here for drinks on a Wednesday night and it was way busier than I expected even past 9pm. The whole place has a date-night vibe with dim lighting that makes it feel pretty upscale, like somewhere you'd come for a fancy dinner or a special night out. We ordered the ponche and the bomba del amor, and both cocktails were amazing. Very sweet, very boozy. The kind of drinks you sip slowly because you can actually feel them. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and one small thing I really appreciated was seeing the wait staff actively sanitizing the menus, it made the place feel really well-maintained. Would absolutely come back, especially for drinks before or after dinner. read more

Came here for lunch. First time sitting outside at this location or ordering off the menu myself I went with the Ribeye (instead of my usual Lomo saltado). Got it medium rare. Cooked perfectly. It was delicious. The potatoes it came with had a different seasoning but the main reason they weren't my fave was because they were a bit too hard for my liking. I prefer soft potatoes or crispy potatoes. But not medium soft hard boiled potatoes. So next time I'd get the fries instead. Otherwise delicious dish. My usual, chica morada, tasted a bit more sweet than I'm used to but delicious. I sat outside, under an umbrella. Perfect weather read more

I am writing to address a disappointing experience I had at your restaurant on July 28th. I had a reservation for three people at 4:45 PM, and upon arrival, the hostess was in the process of offering us a nice table. However, a staff member named Viri intervened and insisted we be seated at a different table. When I requested a different location, I was told it was unavailable due to other reservations. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I am familiar with how reservation systems function; I noted that the restaurant remained largely empty during our visit. At one point, we were even asked to vacate a table we had sat down at before eventually being placed near the hostess station. I am bringing this to your attention because I felt our treatment was inconsistent with standard hospitality. I would like to encourage your leadership team to ensure that all customers are treated with cordiality and respect, regardless of their ethnicity or attire. read more

Came here on a Saturday night to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday, and what a pleasant surprise! The place was packed, with lots of people waiting for tables--definitely make reservations ahead of time. The décor was modern and stylish, creating a great vibe for a fun night out. The food was absolutely delicious, with a perfect blend of flavors and ingredients. We ordered several dishes, and every single one came out beautifully plated and incredibly tasty. Our waitress was attentive throughout the evening, and the drinks were not only delicious but also super cute and well-presented. I would definitely recommend trying this place if you're looking for great Peruvian food and a lively atmosphere. read more

Visited this place on weekday 8pm ish, surprise to almost full house at that time and day. Nice vibe, friendly staffs, but food and drinks were not my cup of tea. Ceviche Limon - seafood was fresh, crispy calamari was okay, taro chips were tasteless. The citrus source was too sour, think of someone biting a lemon and instantly regretting it. Pisco sour (passion fruit) - too strong and too sourly, like mixture of vinegar and liquor. Lomo Saltado - we ordered this, but was served Seco de Costillas. The beef short ribs were kind of hard to chew, not tender at all. The canary beans were bad, it tasted like a can of bland baked beans. Tiny portion of the salsa criolla, way to little, can't even tell what it tastes like. read more

3.5 stars. Ceviche is amazing. We got the ceviche sampler and it had a discount during happy hour. My personal faves are the classic and the leche de Tigre but the aji Amarillo was good too. The lomo saltado and the chaufa were both on the saltier side and meat was a tad tough. Even with Yelp reservation, we got squeezed in an awkward spot where we were in the private room but sharing with a company party. Before this party arrived, our server was nowhere to be found and we had to flag someone over to come into the room where we were seated. I'll just come back for ceviche only. read more

6/24/2025 Limon 800 California St Mountain View, CA 94041 In my quest for Happy Hour deals, I tried here on a Tuesday afternoon. Free city parking is a short walk across the street. Not very busy and I sat at the bar. The ambiance is modern upscale with lots of real wood. Service was fast and good. I got the Trio Ganador which consisted of three dishes of Ceviche accompanied with Taro chips and a Peruvian lager. The Ceviche was very lemony and the fish, shrimp and calamari were very fresh. But I guess I'm more of a sodium Poke guy. No repeat for this. My check was pretty steep and this is no Happy Hour bargain. Getting charged for hot sauce was completely unacceptable. read more

Great service. Loved our waiter, JP. He was able to give recommendations and help us decide was to order. Food did not disappoint. The seafood was fresh and rice was well seasoned. I've visited this location several times. The food has been hit or miss, and we've already shared feedback on what works and what doesn't, so I won't focus on that here. The drinks, however, are always excellent. What continues to be lacking is the service. During our most recent visit, we had three different servers throughout the meal and ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes for our check while the server still had my credit card. My husband's drink was also forgotten. These kinds of inconsistencies are frustrating. What was even more surprising was that both managers were visibly standing nearby talking with an associate while this was happening. At first, I thought it might be related to a shift change, but the issues continued well beyond that. Considering it was one of their slower times of day, it was baffling that no one stepped in to assist. At this point, sitting at the bar seems to be the safest bet. We've always received great service there. It's disappointing to see this location go from a five-star experience to what I would now consider a three-star one. We genuinely enjoy visiting and hope to see improvements in the future. read more

I was craving lomo saltado and this place did not disappoint!! we ordered the ceviche, half chicken, and lomo saltaldo- everything was delicious and well seasoned. We also ordered the lychee sour and pisco sour- beware these drinks are VERY strong. We came in on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and were immediately seated. Lots of seating indoors including a room with tables in the back. The servers were friendly and attentive. The only reason I took off a star is because we found a fly in the rice. We let the waiter know and he immediately brought us out a new one. Overall still a very positive experience and we definitely want to come back to try more of the menu. read more

We were able to get a same-day reservation for a party of 3 on a weeknight here. The food was tasty and the service was great, but the restaurant was really loud. Because the music playing from the speakers was loud and the restaurant was full, everyone around us was yelling which made it tough to hold a conversation. Also, every table around us seemed to be a birthday dinner and the staff sung for each one. I think it's a really nice touch if you're celebrating, but definitely something to think about if you're reserving a table for a different event like a business dinner. read more

Food, A. Service, C. I have been to this particular Limon once before and twice to their Burlingame location so I knew what to expect with the menu. Coincidentally, my first attempt at Mountain View was a year prior when I came with no reservation and couldn't get a table because they were busy and ended up going to Burlingame. This year, lesson learned: made a reservation on Yelp for 6:30p time slot a week or so ahead of time. Got the email confirmation and even a text message the day before asking me to confirm, which I did. Walking up, we saw there was a private event sign outside the main entrance. No problem, the hostess politely walked us to another entrance to another smaller part of the restaurant that was for the non-event. It was literally 1-2 minutes before 6:30p and the staff there talked amongst themselves about where to put us. It was pretty full but there were two tables free. "Sorry, some other tables are taking a while. We can call you when one opens up". Ummm, OK, not ideal but sure. I've been on the other end where we've finished our meal and sat longer than expected and the restaurant politely mentioned they need the table for another reservation/party. So we went back to the car and waited about 20 minutes before we got a call to return. No mention of the 20 minute wait when we were seated. They were a little less busy but still busy (Cinco De Mayo). Staff was professional but we had to ask for a knife (one placesetting was missing it) and we weren't checked in on during the meal on how everything was going or to offer more water. The food was delicious, as usual, but the overall experience left something to be desired. read more

I wish I came here sooner. We started with a spicy ceviche which was so good. I recently went to Spain and the ceviche here was even better. We got a lomo saltado for the main course which was also amazing. For drinks, I highly recommend the pisco sour. Our server, was so incredible and recommended us the best dishes. If you ever visit here I highly recommend getting a table with Michael. At the end of the meal they brought us out the mango panna cotta which was the perfect end to our night. This is the type of experience that makes you want to keep coming back. read more

This place had great reviews for their food and a few not too good that we agree with. We weren't wowed. The ambiance is nice. The servers were nice. We were seated at 11:45 am on a Sunday. It wasn't very busy and it took a bit to get our canned sodas and glasses with ice. It looked like they were having a group employee meeting. We wanted to try everything but we weren't into ceviche so we ordered the fiesta platter for our appetizers and the brasa plater for our meal. The chicharron de pollo were fried chicken pieces with a haberno lime sauce. The chicken pieces were dried. The sauce helped. The beef empanadas were dried and we didn't taste all the flavors of the olives, raisins, and beef. I don't recall the second sauce. It wasn't that good. I liked the platano frito, lightly fried sweet plantains out of everything the most. The yuca fries were dry on both platters. The presentation on the plate was great. The half rotisserie chicken from the brasa platter had a good flavor. It wasn't overly dry. This was a small half chicken, leg on the bottom, and breast and wing on top. The same two sauces were served with the chimichurri on top of the 16 oz ribeye steak. The ribeye was fatty so not dry. The pork belly was not greasy but ok. Maybe the meat platter and appetizer platter were not good choices. We saw other patrons with individual dishes, like the ribeye and pork belly. Maybe it's better to order just one item. Maybe the seafood dishes are better. Maybe if we had a few drinks, food would have tasted better. I'm glad we tried it. read more

Limón delivered big time. The Ceviche Trio and Octopus appetizer were fresh and packed with flavor. Our Lomo Saltado was great, and the Whole Fried Red Snapper was crispy, moist, and delicious. Loved it! App three dishes were good. The highlight was the beef tongue, it was so incredibly flavorful. The pork was good but a bit dry. The service was good, but to confirm the reservation I had to give the phone number of the person who reserved, which was a bit inconvenient as I arrived first before the person who reserved. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. I come here often for their ceviches and their drinks are incredible! Food Recommendations: I've tried a variety of options on the menu at this point and my recommendations are: - For ceviches, I love them all, but my favorite is the Pica Rico. It's a little spicy and absolutely delicious. If you prefer non-spicy, I love the Ceviches Limón and the Mixto Amarillo. - For Appetizers, the my top recommendation are the Camarones Crocantes and the empanadas. - For a classic main, the Lomo Saltado is delicious and flavorful. - For Cocktails (I like things on the sweeter side), I recommend the Passionfruit Sour and the Cadillac Margarita. I also really enjoy the El Capitan Margarita if you enjoy a smooth mezcal. You can also never go wrong with the Limón Pisco Sour. Service: The staff is always super welcoming, friendly, and professional. We've never had a bad experience here. Appetizers and Drinks come out fairly quickly even when busy. Ambiance: during the day, there is plenty of natural light and their outdoor patio is lovely on warm days. At night, the restaurant is warmly lit and is the perfect spot for a date night or celebratory outing. Overall: I absolutely love this restaurant. I cannot recommend enough. read more

The waiter was so off on timing thing. It took him 15 minutes to acknowledge we were at the table. The restaurant was not full. This was a Wednesday at 2:30pm. The waiter couldn't adequately explain the trio cheveche. Once we ordered the starter, he did not come back except i had to heighten my voice and ask him to come to the table. The people behind us had come in later. They ate and there left overs were in their bag. Really frustrating. Knowing peruvian food on a scale from one to ten the ceviche was a 6 as best. We didnt get to the main dish because the waiter didn't come back. Like I said, I had to flag him down for a second drink. I wasnt about to stay there for more mistreatment. read more

My staff and I have been loyal customers of Limon restaurant for quite some time, as we genuinely enjoy the food. we ordered takeout for our Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. While preparing to eat, we discovered a large green bug moving in the salad. This was disturbing and completely ruined our meal, causing everyone to lose their appetite. An incident of this nature raises serious concerns about food safety and sanitation practices, particularly regarding whether salads are being properly washed. Since then, we have attempted multiple times to contact a manager at the Limon restaurant, but we have received no response. The lack of follow-up has been just as disappointing as the incident itself. We expected better from a restaurant we have supported for years and hope this matter will be taken seriously. read more

Didn't have a reservation and wanted to have a nice, sit down dinner after the Art and Wine Festival. The hostess asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor. We chose outdoor because we figured it would be nice to people watch, and the weather was nice. However, we must have sat out there for over 15 min with not a waiter stopping by. We tried to flag a couple of people down, but, to not avail. We went back inside and asked the hostess if we could please sit inside instead. This was a great choice. Our waiter was really nice. The food was delicious and very beautifully plated. We were pretty disheartened when we were ignored outside, but, the amazing service we got from our waiter once we were inside turned the entire experience around! read more

Food was delicious, service not so good. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. We had reservations and asked to be seated outdoors. We were seated at an entrance table next to the street. No ambiance, but most importantly, no service since we were apart from most tables. We had to go find someone to ask for a spoon and some water. It took a while for someone to come by to get our plates and pack up our food. On our way out we spoke to the person that appeared to be a manager and told her service was not good. She apologized but didn't seem too interested in asking what had occurred. Again, our meal was delicious, but our celebration was dampened by the lack of service. read more

SUUUUUCH a great restaurant. So happy we decided to give this place a shot. Had the chicken skewers and picante de mariscos. Both were INCREDIBLE. The rice was cooked perfectly. Service was super sweet. The only thing that was difficult about this place was how jampacked it was, with everyone sitting close to each other. We could not hear each other in our party when talking; definitely almost yelling to be understood. I'd definitely go back, but perhaps sit outside. Limon was excellent. We started coming here around May and we have been there back now at least 4-5 times since then and all has been great experiences. One of the main reasons we started going back was their bartender Luis, he's customer service I believe is part of what made our experience excellent. Most of the times we go there for drinks and a few bites. These are some of the items we have order. Our favorite so far has been their Polli-Papas and their Ceviche Limon (not pictured). One thing that I would like to try again are their Leche de Tigre shooters because they were very very sour like to the point where it scolded our tongues for the rest of the meal, there was no salt on them. My wife basically gave me hers and we ordered their trio so I didn't want to waste the oyster nor I didn't want to tell the bartender that time since it wasn't our usual bartender Luis. That's why I would lie to give them a try so maybe next time we go I'll order a single one because they could have been having an off day for that order of shooters. Last thing you folks will see a picture of a cake in there and that's because one of the times we went in was to celebrate my 35th birthday and Luis and my wife surprised me with their Chocolate Bandido dessert and the Chef and the whole staff gathered around and sang Feliz Cumpleaños to me which I thought was very nice way to end our meal that day. Ambiance it's your usual restaurant ambiance, quite when it's not Lunch rush or Dinner rush but they usually have house or Latin music playing and when it's busy you just hear the beauty of a busy restaurant people talking, drinks being shaken and their kitchen an open kitchen so you get to enjoy a show while you eat. read more

Fantastic food, fantastic ambiance, great service! Anthony was awesome and made sure we got to our movie on time!

Food was too salty, service was non-existent, table wasn't ready, and theres a 20% service fee for parties over 6. Brought my family (9 ppl) here for my mom's bday dinner. Half the party arrived on time, the other half arrived 15 min late. Despite this, the table was not ready, and the hostess didn't bother to explain what was going on. We had to stand around while staff quietly pushed the small tables together. Service was cold and slow, yet they charge a 20% service fee. Ceviches were good, everything else (steak, rice, fries, chicken) was over salted. I don't recommend this place for special occasions or big parties. read more

We were getting family to try out new cuisines. So I suggested Peruvian and Limon is one of the places I've been to SF for Peruvian. Thank goodness they have a spot in Mountain View because I don't think we would've gone to the SF location. In short, very attentive service, with some hit and miss dishes, with a very social atmosphere. L O C A T I O N Limon is located on California St. and Castro St. in Downtown Mountain View. There's a few parking areas but there is a parking structure right next to Limon on California St. It's free which is lovely but if you need to use the elevator. Know it smells. I N S I D E It was pretty inside! Feels upscale with booth and table seatings as well as a bar area. It was quite loud inside. So it's not cozy and quiet. M E N U They had a pretty extensive menu that had both meat and seafood options. ~ Arroz con mariscos ~ This was delicious! Lots of seafood and the rice flavorful. I do wish they had a side plate to put shells from the seafood. ~ Lomo saltado ~ The beef was great though the amount of sauce really killed the crisp fries. I believe the extreme salty element was the sauce. I've never had a lomo saltado this salty. ~ Pulpo and grilled lobster tail ~ I had one bite of the lobster which was good and the pulpo (octopus) was grilled well! I would get the pulpo again for sure. S E R V I C E At peak lunch time, our group of 4 was easily seated. Service was quite attentive. We didn't have to wave anyone down. Our waters were filled often. Easily paid by credit card. O V E R A L L If you've never had Peruvian food, Limon is definitely a great place to start. Nothing I would skip out on. Staffs here are friendly and they are in sync! From helping each other take plates away from the table to singing a birthday song. Great team work! I like this place a lot but personally I don't love high chairs. I find them uncomfortable to sit on. The restaurant has two sections but only one side was filled with customers.
