I've been here 3 or 4 times. Several times the customer service was HORRIBLE. The owner seemed like he was constantly having to check up on his employees, because they were apparently trying to cut corners/lazy. I dealt with about 4 different people, 1 was nice enough, 3 were very rude. The 3 that were rude IGNORED ME even though the store was empty and had only been open maybe half an hour. I did see the owner helping a customer, they seemed happy enough. My advice is to skip the people at the front - go directly to the owner. He cares about making money, its his business. Some of the employees clearly need some training. They will ignore you, help customers who appear "wealthier" - read as older, well-dressed, and WHITE. Several times when I was skipped over, there was an older white person in a suit being helped that came in after me. Be prepared to deal with unprofessional people to get what you need. Other examples - I needed chandelier glass covers, they didnt have them in stock, special order. One guy just flat out lied, said they were impossible to get. His general tone and demeanor were very, very rude. Once he said that, he just acted like I wasnt even there. Owner wasn't there, I came back later and another guy helped me actually order them. Wow!! I came in at closing time and they were kind enough to help me! David was very wholesome and was able to get me the black fluorescent lights that I needed for my yoga instructors New Glow Night Yoga class in Fontana At Inner Phoenix Yoga! I had been to 3 hardware stores Lowes and Home Depot included with no luck. They had some beautiful light fixtures and lamps so I'll definitely be back! First off this location does offer a nice selection of lights but the service and pricing are not worth my time or money. I walked in well dressed after getting off from work and wasn't greeted, I had to approach the staff for assistance. Maybe because I'm young they didn't feel I deserved the time of day. The store is laid out odd for designing a house based f style. I went to Lamps Plus prior to coming here and the prices and selection as well as knowledge and friendliness were far better at Lamps Plus. If you like to pay extra for poor service than Light Bulbs ETC is the place to be! read more

My wife purchased a ceiling fan there and after installing it I wasn't happy with the fan due mainly to the motor noise. I called and spoke with Eric and told him the situation and he said they normally don't take back fans that have already been installed but was going to make an exception. I purchased another fan and after I installed that one I brought the other one back and got a full refund. Really impressed with Eric as he didn't allow company policy to get in the way of doing the right thing. Great job with your customer service. read more

Contractor or Consumer...if you need wide selection of lighting fixtures and supplies, this is your place. The reps are courteous, knowledgeable and offer meaningful suggestions. Prices are just slightly higher than big box locations but selection and service more than compensates. read more

Excellent service! Thank you, Eric, for all the help you provided in finding a solution for me in such a short amount of time. I called looking for options for a specific style of light fixture that would be available within a day because the installer was scheduled and the one I ordered from another source arrived completely shattered. Eric sent me photos via text of what they had in the store, and once we determined those wouldn't work, he shared the brand names of options he knew he could find quickly in one of their other stores. After looking over several options on their website, Eric found one in their store that worked nicely - it was picked up that afternoon and installed, right on schedule, the next morning. Knowledgeable, Competent, Prompt and Reasonably Priced! I have a nice, 12-year old Lite-Source torchiere, with reading lamp, on which the reading lamp had failed. Bought it at Lamps Plus but they couldn't fix it so they referred me to a nice gentleman in San Dimas, but after a week in his shop, he couldn't fix it either. Finally managed to contact the manufacturer and they referred me to Light Bulbs Etc in Montclair. I took it in and explained the failure conditions to them (Brian and Eric). They took the lamp apart and in short order determined that the transformer had failed. Remarkably, they had a replacement transformer in-store and I had the lamp back in fully operational order in less than 30-minutes. The whole repair cost me $50 where a new lamp of that quality would have cost me $400. The repair is also guaranteed for a year. Best darn lighting/electronics store I've found in a long time. read more

if you're a contractor this is the spot to come to. they've always got everything i need in stock and way cheaper and higher quality than the big home depot/lowes chains. if you're just a homeowner looking for lighting then all your high end fixtures are here. if you just want cheap hampton bay/ hunter ceiling fans go to home depot. the staff is great! knowledgable, polite and courteous. the only gripe i can think of is that it doesn't open til 8, being a contractor i want to be on my job by 8 so i have to purchase all my materials the day before. read more

I purchased some lighting for my kitchen, spending over $1,500 at this store. I found that my bulbs were burning out abnormally fast, and I was having trouble with flickering. So, went back to the store for suggestions. The store rep suggested trying different switches. After lots of frustration and returning to the store multiple times, I found that a different type of bulb was the correct fix, and not a new switch. Upon returning to the store for the last time, I called to let them know my son-in-law would do the switch return. The person on the phone instructed to me to ask for Brian. When my son-in-law arrived, Brian was called to the front desk. Once he arrived he stated "Whoever paged me, I'm not here." My son-in-law then explained the situation, to which he replied "I don't know what you're talking about." He was extremely rude. Needless to say, I will not do business with this company again. They have always had time for me and those around me when I am in the store to browse. They always ask if you need anything or have a questions. They stock a wide variety of lighting and accessories that you will never find locally. The first in our area to bring halogen and LED options to home owners and business'. Hard to find designer items you can't get at a big box or home store. The types of fixtures decerning clients are looking for. Something to see and touch before you buy. The service is top notch and knowledgable too. They know the ins and outs better than most installers and electricians. I come in after a hard days work, no problem, always ready to answer my questions and to help me with my order or just let me window shop and compare. I have never seen a problem here and especially nothing like what I read below. Never...Customer service here is great and has been since my first visit years ago. I recommend them to my clients, potential clients and to my friends alike. They treat people with respect and provide a friendly service thats lacking in most business's today. I am in love with this store, I don't have traditional lighting needs and this store comes through for me every time, one way or another. Do not try to compare this to a big box store, price-wise or other. All big box stores do is put the local stores out of business and then they only carry what they sell 1,000 of. We need more specialists like this. I use them for holiday decorating needs, production lighting, replacement bulbs of any type or size. Heck they even carry lighting gels (does anyone know what those are?) and photo flash bulbs. Their lighting fixtures are high quality and on trend, that is why you need to be careful comparing their prices to big box stores. I really appreciate everything the team at this store has done to help me out in critical times. I can see why some Yelpers say the staff isn't pro-actively helpful, but I find the reason is different...they leave you alone to ponder, but if I approach them for help they go out of their way to solve my problems and include me in the process. Is anyone indicating that the big-box stores have experts running them down to help? That certainly is not my experience. read more
