One day the special was banana nut French toast... omg wish it was on the menu. The blueberries they use are enormous which was awesome. I asked if they could be added to the granola pancakes... it was really good but extra fiber wasnt smart for me personally. Tried the malted hotcakes made with waffle batter and they were the only place on island that did my poached eggs perfectly. Service has always been excellent and very friendly. Free parking but the parking is very tight ... the chocolate place next door always says it's open... but not during breakfast hours. So we parked there a few times. During regular times the lighthouse cafe is super busy and likely have yo wait. There are so shops to browse. Sept is evidently the slow time. So no wait. read more

My all time favorite restaurant! I have to drive for two full days to get there......it's worth it! For over 35 years I have been ordering the same meal. They are known for having the World's Best Breakfast but it doesn't matter if it's breakfast or lunch, this is what I order: Blackened Grouper Sandwich, without the bun, cheddar cheese, home fries, slaw, and a large tartare sauce. The most amazing, yummy thing ever. Due to the three recent hurricanes they have moved the restaurant about a mile from the original location. It's a larger space now but still has several of the same employees, plus wonderful new employees, and the same "off the chart" delishious food. The best food!!!!! Wife and I stopped in yesterday, after sunrise shelling, for some breakfast. We had heard about this little cafe and wanted to give it a try. This is classic, old Florida and we loved it. It is quant, lots of framed Lighthouse pictures from all over cover the walls. You can hear accents from all over the country and at least two different languages, if you listen closely. The hostess sat us right behind her and the register as soon as we walked in. I recommend that table if you are a people watcher. The servers were all over the place, taking care of all the customers like they were family. We ordered fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, water, and a house made Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary is very thick and the vodka is hardly noticeable, but this thing is delicious. The orange juice is heavenly. My wife got the seafood Benedict and I got the Hungry Fisherman Omelet. Both were delicious! I asked for an English muffin with mine because they serve homemade strawberry preserves, which are to die for! Everything was delicious and we will definitely go back. When you're done eating, walk it off by hitting some of the little shops flanking the cafe, you won't be disappointed! read more

We walked her from our vacation home. This made for a great morning, every morning, for nearly a week. We were beginning to feel like family, lol. Friendly faces, helpful, and patient. Social distancing is here, so the wait is a little longer than normal. But don't get frustrated, the tables turn over fairly quickly. People seem to be aware to not linger because others are waiting too! The French toast was fresh! I got a generous portion and it was delicious. I also ordered a scrambled egg on the side to make it a perfect breakfast for me! My breakfast was great. But my 19 yo daughter ordered the whole wheat pancakes and bacon. It was not what she expected. I believe her pallet was cut out for whole wheat pancakes, lol. I assure you, they were fine. In over three decades of visiting Sanibel, I don't know how it was possible to have never been to the Lighthouse Café for "the world's best breakfast." It was time to change that. My parents and I biked down for a delightful breakfast. "World's best" may be a stretch, but it was certainly good. We split an order of the blueberry pancakes, and each had a side of our favorite style of two eggs with toast or potatoes. The blueberry whole wheat hot cakes evidently ranked 12th place out of the 100 top comfort food menu items in America, according to Country Living Magazine. I can totally see it. They were fabulous! Made with fresh, juicy blueberries and accompanied by a blueberry syrup that also had fresh macerated blueberries. Yum. I don't think I could have eaten all three by myself, but it was a perfect quantity to split this platter of blueberry heaven. As a side note, for a little café like this, it had surprisingly great coffee! Every few minutes it felt like someone was taking a lap around the restaurant with a carafe to top off cups and provide warm ups with a friendly smile. I chose this location because they were the closest breakfast spot to my hotel on the island. We planned to only ride bikes and not use the car on our visit, so I thought this is a good place to try out. I noticed the day before, when riding bikes past this restaurant, they were very busy so we decided to be there no later than 9am which turned out to be a great idea because we were seated right away. Service was good and quick. Parking is right in the front but since we rode bikes there is a bike rack as well. Most places on the island have places for your bike. Our breakfast was what would be expected from your typical mom and pop breakfast joint. Decent food at a decent price. They are very close to the Sanibel lighthouse so you can go sightseeing before or after your visit. I would recommend if in area. read more

Located at the far end of Sanibel Island near the famous lighthouse, we were impressed by owner, Dan's, friendly nature which was mirrored by our waitress, Heather. My husband ordered the Blueberry Wheat Pancakes which were served with blueberry syrup - both of which were well supplied with plump fruit. For the price, there should have been a side of bacon ... just sayin'. We ate breakfast on Thursday 4/4, they had just opened earlier this week. The food was phenomenal! I had avocado toast with a poached egg and it came with their famous potatoes - soooo good & fresh melon slices. My kids had toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes and melon slices. My husband had an omelette. My kids and I have dairy allergies and they were very friendly and careful with our options and food. The coffee was good too. In the morning near the lighthouse of the Sanibel Island not many restaurant open. This is the few restaurants serving the breakfast. The place is pack with vacation tourists and local. The decorations is somewhat unique with pocket of seating. The wall full of light house pictures from many place. We were here for a business deal and need a place to discuss some findings. If you're staying at Sanibel, this breakfast spot should be on your list of places to visit. Affordable prices for food that will fill you up before a day in the sun. They are COVID-19 conscious and all waiters and staff wear masks. They also only have seating at marked tables. We got seated quickly around 10am and also got our food quickly. One of the biggest factors for me was the coffee was good and they were always quick to fill an empty mug. I also had a bite of the key lime pie and WOW it is comparable to a pie from key west (it's homemade and peanut free). 4.5 stars. This was our first time at the restaurant. We ended up there because they were the only place on the island that served breakfast after 12 noon. You can get breakfast until 3pm! I called ahead and Dan was ready for us when we got there. A small unpretentious place with open doors to a small outside dining area. Fast food delivery; good prices and delicious food. What more can you ask? Oh and there's a little shopping center in the plaza and the Lighthouse beach is just around the corner. Perfect location. Great service as well. The blueberry hot cakes were delicious! I had to order them since they were so highly rated in southern cooking magazine! I also heard someone order Coconut hot cakes, but didn't see them on the menu - I think those would be equally as delicious. The restaurant is cozy, but I was still able to squeeze my baby pram with my 4 month old inside and by the table. The staff are very nice, but always very busy!
