Nice little Mediterranean restaurant with covered outdoor seating. We shared a handful of mezzo, including the large hummus (very good), roasted zucchini (needed a bit more salt), the burrata and the shawarma (the best of all the dishes). I've been dining here many years, and the food they are serving for takeout and delivery only during the crisis is as good as ever! And it is very reasonably priced too. Here are the things that we have had in recent weeks Chicken bowl It's marinated grilled chicken with some fresh shredded veggies and incredible green rice. Everything tastes so good together in this dish. Big Salad I'm a sucker for a salad with roasted root veggies, which this one has. IT came already dressed, perfectly I might add. It's a nice sized salad. Fish Sandwich I loved it. They used a richer fuller flavored fish than you'd typically expect on a sandwich like this, which made it more satisfying. Can't remember what the bun was like, but I remember really enjoying it. And it came with great fries... Fries I always order a side if I'm not already ordering a sandwich. They are pretty big fries, which is probably why they hold up so well even as take out. Sour dough bread Yeah, it looks expensive, but it is enormous and incredibly good bread. As many others have commented, the service is absolutely ludicrous and not in a good way. Despite having reservations for a birthday party, the restaurant didn't have enough menus! It was basically empty except for us, so that was odd. Then when I asked the waiter about it, she said they were printing some... but didn't bother mentioning this until we asked. It's probably not her fault they didn't have enough menus, but would it have hurt to loop us in and tell us they're on the way? Absolutely not. The point of a waiter is to be the messenger between the restaurant and the customers. I have worked customer service before and have sympathy, but it's also unfair to us as patrons and human beings in general. The food was good, though the portions were small. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin. The seating was pretty uncomfortable. We were placed at the bar in "the two best seats in the house". These coveted seats are the closest to the door, and right in the path of the draft. Good luck trying to reserve these bad boys. However, let none of this detract from the food, the beers, the ambience and the bathrooms. All are top notch. I would highly recommend the roasted cauliflower (the menu has changed on the 3 occasions we have visited so don't hold me to this item). Olives - deserving of their own section. C'est chic. Try this place for casual dining, with no expectations, selecting only small plates, and you can't go wrong. If you have a high bar set for consistency of service and want food to die for, you will likely meet with disappointment. I came to the Lighthouse for a 7pm weekday dinner with two friends. My friends preferred chairs with backs, so we had to sit near the front door. The other tables had bench style seating or were too small for a party of three. As others have mentioned, service is touch and go. We had to ask several times for clarification on some of the menu items since the descriptions are either misleading or unclear. We ordered labneh with housemade sourdough bread and french fries to start. All three of these were delicious, but we had to ask for a little salt for the labneh. When it came for the entrees, we all had had an interesting experience--and not in a good way. The tortilla soup was cool temperature-wise and sent back. It took forever. The chicken shawarma was like a bowl of dipping sauce with no chicken in sight. I had the steak skewer platter. There were no skewers and no platter. The steak was done to perfection (I asked for medium), but I should have had a better idea of what the dish actually was. I should have had them hold the french fries. I really didn't eat them after having them as an appetizer. As far as atmosphere goes, the restaurant has a dimly lit romantic vibe with its triangular corner location. That romantic vibe can be easily killed by loud inane conversations guaranteed to come from people drinking at the bar. We had a reasonably good time at the beginning of our meal, but things fell apart. My recommendations: it was very cold inside the restaurant, so bring a sweater. Be prepared for an extra long wait between server visits to your table. Also, specify that you want the tortilla soup to be heated, not merely "hotter" or they will bring it back extra spicy! read more

Lighthouse feels a bit unremarkable at first glance. It's another sparsely decorated, flatteringly lit place in Williamsburg with a typical looking menu: oysters, ceviche, burrata, cheeseburger. It looked a little too easy-to-please and directionless, and I must admit I felt a bit let down when my boyfriend told me he had made reservations here for our dinner-and-a-movie in Brooklyn. However, Lighthouse delivered a low-key, Middle Eastern-inflected meal that ended up being memorable months later. While not necessarily a destination dining situation, I would be happy to widely recommend it as it's easy to reserve, food is well-executed, and the space feels like a party without being insufferable. It's overall just so pleasant that it becomes the platonic ideal of a Williamsburg restaurant. When we arrived at 8, we were seated immediately at a communal table on backless benches. The couple next to us was finishing up a chicken dish which smelled amazing and inspired our ordering choices. We started with a couple cocktails ($12 each). Our Man in Havana (rye, rum, cointreau, fig bitters) was overly boozy for me but not bad; Obama Cares was a typical Moscow Mule riff. Good deals for strong drinks but not a cocktail destination; wine list looks interesting with sparkling options and natural wine. Our first dishes were the smoked labne ($4) and grilled escarole ($13). We didn't get any bread after a miscommunication, but the labne was amazing on its own. The flavor of smoke is so purely concentrated and delicious, and this goes really well on all of the dishes we had (or shamelessly eaten on its own). Escarole was great, a nice texture and a more gently charred flavor, complimented by tahini. Our next two dishes were the squid ($17) and half chicken ($28). Squid was flavorful and not too chewy. Chicken stole the show, period. It's super tender with a crackly skin. The roasted flavor went well with both the semi-spicy zchug served with it as well as our leftover labne. Israeli couscous was a soft complement. Portions were generous; we could have skipped a dish and been happy. The bill was about $50 a person after tax and tip. The space is nice, though I'm not a fan of the communal bench seating. Service is super and the pacing was reasonable (probably a bit more than an hour). Bathrooms are dimly lit and feel cool. At the risk of damning with faint praise, Lighthouse was one of those experiences that didn't bowl me over at the time, but in hindsight the food was so satisfying, and the experience so smooth, that I have fond feelings for it. Lighthouse has been on my list of restaurants to try in the Brooklyn area. However due to covid19, I have not gone out to eat restaurants except to take out. I was in/near the Williamsburg area, so I decided to do take out from lighthouse. I ordered the grilled beans (marinated with olive oil, salt and pepper, I think) and the big hummus. This was all excellent. The hummus does have a little kick of spice so if you are not into spicy, this may not be for you or ask to modify. The prices are affordable and the ambiance is casual and your typical hipster Williamsburg establishment. :) read more

Really enjoyed our outdoor dining experience here last weekend! They have a nice setup. The tables are really well spaced out and the servers are all very kind. They have amazing cocktails. We got a marg and the grass is always greener. Both were great. For food, we ordered the chips and guac, the burger and fries. A little sad that the burger didn't come with fries and we had to order them separate, but they were quite delicious! They came with some sort of aioli sauce on the side! The burger was pretty good as well. The chips and guac were SO delicious for some reason. The chips were so crisp and thick. The guac tasted so fresh and had amazing seasonings in it. A great refreshing summer appetizer. We got there a bit early, so we got a table pretty easily. But it did fill up quite quickly by the time we were leaving. I've only had soup in a bowl. I can now say I've had steak and eggs in a bowl... and that's not a good thing. I've passed by a million times before on my way somewhere else. I jumped at the chance when my friends booked it for lunch/brunch. The steak in a bowl was descent. It wasn't bad. But definitely not anything to write about. The menu is Mediterranean/American, but it didn't mention the hummus on the bottom of the steak bowl. It also didn't mention that it'd come in a bowl (guess that's a secret, too). But again, it's not terrible. The chocolate mouse was ordinary. If you like foamy whipped cream ... then it was basically that....in the shape of a waffle. Not my cup of waffle. The staff was mostly helpful. We came with a baby carriage, and it wasn't ideal for the tight space. Ok would I suggest going here? If you're hungry and you don't want walk futher...sure. Hm. I had a hard time deciding between 3 or 4 stars here, but my heart is telling me to err on the side of caution with Lighthouse. I think the restaurant is beautiful, open, and airy. But none of the seats have backs, I feel like a total yuppie (or yuccie) eating here, and the bathroom is 1000x too dark. It's also just absent of any personality, it feels almost like a macbook version of a restaurant. I came here with a few friends and maybe I'm writing from a disadvantaged perspective because everyone's meal looked/tasted better than mine? I had the chilaquiles which tasted good enough, the salsa verde was nice and the eggs were cooked well. I just thought the dish was really overpriced ($15) for what it was - tortillas, eggs, and salsa. At least put some radishes/avocados/SOMETHING on top for that price. I also had a $4 orange juice. I should know better because restaurants like this always scam you with OJ. And that's what happened. They gave me a tiny glass with 4 giant ice cubes and maybe 1/2 cup of orange juice. Okay. This is just karma for my participation in the gentrification #aesthetic. Ok well beyond the bothersome aestetic!! The meals were all plated really beautifully and were colorful. My friends had the shakshuka, burger, freekeh bowl, and chicken/rice dish. Honestly the freekeh bowl seemed the most interesting/appetizing. Nicely cooked grains with picked onions, whitefish, and feta. I wish their other dishes were as thoughtful and complex. But everyone was happy with their dishes. They're perfectly, delicately fried and salted. Comforting traces of potato skins remain on the hand cut fries and there's slight bounce with their interior but they err on crispy rather than fluffy. They come with a rich ketchup, and we requested a mayonnaise, which was well seasoned and a recommended addition to this well executed rendition of a classic. It's a nice welcome addition to Lighthouse BK's brunch menu that resists being tricked out and instead provides reliable relief amongst refreshing pickled and Mediterranean flavors. I could not recommend Lighthouse any more, especially as a venue for our rehearsal dinner for our wedding. We had the most fantastic experience with this venue from our first interaction to our last. We went through many possible venues in the Brooklyn area and Lighthouse was immediately on our short list. In contrast to most restaurants, when we reached out to Naama, she responded to our inquiries immediately and with incredible warmth and the decision from there was easy. We had a larger party than a normal rehearsal dinner, and with everything from a Pandemic to winter weather, they were always accommodating of our changing group size and any additions we wanted to our menu. Could not have made it easier. The venue itself is tremendous. The space was incredibly fun with palm trees and almost summery accents which felt like a nice escape from winter and roomy enough for both an intimate feeling sit down dinner and walking around drinks for after (we did both our rehearsal dinner followed by welcome drinks for anyone in the area). They really took care of everything on the night of, from wonderful table settings, printed specialty menus, and even without asking made us some specialty cocktails named to fit the occasion (and they were very tasty to boot). All we had to worry about was having fun and eating great food. Speaking of, the food was INCREDIBLE. We basically picked out a tasting menu the week prior and I can't tell you how many people commented on how good the food was. Starting with Oysters and Ceviche (which was maybe the star of the night, I went in for thirds), and then rolling into some great seafood and steak, they were all winners. They also put together a lovely mezze table for the welcome drinks guests. God... the food was just so good all around. All in all, my husband and I couldn't have had a better experience with Lighthouse and couldn't recommend this more for a dinner event or dining in general. Lighthouse really surprised me and surpassed my expectations! The space is super laid back but exciting and I love all the outdoor seating. Because I went on a warm night, all the floor to ceiling windows were open so even sitting inside felt like we were outside. The hostess was incredibly accommodating to our party because we continuously were changing how many people were going to be at the dinner because so many of my friends work in banking and classic they don't know their hours ever (this is why I work in food industry). The waitress was also so helpful with wine tips. My friend had no clue what he wanted, because he is "scared to order wine" and she made wonderful recommendations. I ate here opening night and it was incredible. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was out of control and the atmosphere was perfect. Design is simple and well thought out, a very welcoming environment. There was a DJ at the end of the bar feeling out the vibe of the room and playing to the crowd... The server informed me that they were serving a smaller menu for opening night but will continually over the week be adding items to the menu. Can't wait to go back and try everything else. Great for large or small groups - communal seating or non if your party is larger (ours was 15 people). A raw bar built into the bar, open kitchen so you see it all happening, amazing wine selection to go with anything you may order whether it be the grilled steak or a plate of freshly shucked oysters. The 2nd and one we had to stick with was literally up against the hanging coats....so we got to have people hang all over us when they were coming or going. HOWEVER, I got the egg and burrata sandwich. Life-changing. My betrothed's current dietary restrictions resulted in me getting his sourdough toast. The food & service are often pretty good, but this last trip to Lighthouse was disappointing. There was an incredibly obnoxious birthday table, complete with an adult in a literal tiara, and I am pretty sure I saw fingers snapped at the staff. Yikes. So there is definitely some sympathy from me there, and I'm sure it put a dent in brunch service. However, it should not cause burnt bread and an omelette to take 30-40 minutes. One entree order came out WITH the appetizer, does that mean it was already sitting out? We were never checked on a single time during any point in the meal. The awkward plate timing was never acknowledged, so I asked about it. It was pretty clear that the basic birthday table was eating up a ton of attention so I didn't blame our waiter at all; I asked someone who was nearby and didn't seem to be frantically checking orders like everyone else. In retrospect it was probably the manager or something, but she was pretty sarcastic and annoyed that I'd bothered to speak up about what was going on. Our actual waiter apologized and brought us complimentary coffee and bread, he was very nice about it. I dunno though, I've never been in charge of a brunch shift. But I'd guess you'd want more than a few people on the floor and two chefs handling the busiest two hours of your entire week? The bartender looked very busy as well. This is corner resturant you should visit when in Brooklyn. The eclectic menu offers a variety of fresh oysters (a must try) small plates and dinners. Experienced the heirloom tomato salad that was earthy and delicious. Also had the baked chicken with Israeli couscous/potatoes with tomato (this dish takes sometime to cook but well worth it). I never notice these things, which tells me it must of been pretty bad but I guess the owners must be pretty cheap and kinda scammy. The mezze dips are $4 each, if you order all 5 it's $24 and it doesn't come with bread!!?? So you need to pay an extra $4 for bread. Forget the fact it's mathematically incorrect to charge more when it's clearly stated they cost $4 separately - it's also just plain bad manners to bring out 5 mezze dips and not one piece of bread or a damn cracker for it all. Our Bloody Mary's were served in tiny glasses with huge pieces of ice - it was maybe 3oz of mix for $11. Again just RUDE. Our cheeseburger was also very small for $16. Our poor server was covering most of the restaurant and couldn't keep up, so we needed drinks and more bread for about 20 minutes. I get the feeling this restaurant is trying to be something it's not - you're in East Williamsburg, not Soho so please humble yourself and serve the locals some proper food. read more

I cannot believe that during 90F heat this restaurant wont turn on an AC for it's customer! Its really hard to understand. no way you could enjoy the food or focus on anything else when you are basically struggling with the unbearable high temperature inside and have no break from the heat outside. i wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a family dinner with your parents or your senior members of your family. Elderly people and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk during days like this. Indoor dinning without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures. Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has air conditioning. Lighthouse is not one of those places. read more
