I absolutely love this place. A staple of Monroe, hands-down the best Cantonese food. Wonderful owners, delicious food, great price.

They are also very consistent from visit to visit. Some of my favorites are the crispy beef (you have to ask for it) and I also love the beef with vegetables combination plate. My mom still loves their Won Ton Soup and claims it is the best in this area. She also loves the fried sweet extras they provide as a side. I try to avoid fried anything, but take my mom's word that it's good. This most recent visit, I ordered two Phoenix and Dragon entrees for carryout. This dish is supposed to include chicken and shrimp as protein in addition to vegetables. Speaking regarding my entree', there were maybe four shrimp and the rest was chicken and vegetables. I will say that it was fresh and overall good quality, but the portion of shrimp was very skimpy and the chicken was very thinly sliced- like the restaurant was trying to maximize every penny. After my mom finished her leftovers, her comment was that she didn't want to order from this restaurant for a while. It seems to be very hit or miss these days.. I miss the consistency of great dinners from years ago. I realize that everything is more expensive these days and don't mind paying extra, but I do mind if the extra paid is not met with commensurate quantity and quality. I can't say that I'll hurry back here, which I'm sorry to say. The ambiance remains nice, but doesn't really matter with a takeout order.

Don't expect the world's best anything - you are picking up freshly-cooked food defensively - anything you get here will be better than the gas station taquitos or the Arby's roast beef sandwich binge you will regret in 30 minutes. But to be clear, it's not going to be particularly great. Something about the time of day that I pass by through this area gets me so excited to toss in a pickup order just to see what I get. The Singapore-style Mei Fun is reliable. Get it plain without the Singapore curry spice if you're more suspicious. lol. Anything like String Beans with Garlic, or Beef with Broccoli, is going to be perfectly acceptable for a road warrior like you. The location, consistency, and ease of triangulation with regards to ordering over the phone (or having your shotgun passenger order) about 10 minutes before you reach this Hwy exit merits a solid 4-star review. The food is 3-star ish, but the mere existence of this place warrants a bonus "Oasis" star.

And one of the qualities that I like that with this crab rangoon is you don't need sauce for some of my reason. It's a sweet taste to it compared to any other place that I had. Of course it doesn't look glamorous but I will say their seats were new so I didn't see any cuts or rips. Nothing on the floor saying that stuff has been old. Maybe their signage need to be updated because the crab rangoon posted on your pictures does not look like the crab rangoon that you get, which is perfectly fine. This is kind of out of my way but if I'm in the neighborhood I will probably go back. Happy Eating!!!

However, my girlfriend LOVES it. I ordered some chicken lo mein, and almond chicken for myself, with a cup of hot & sour soup. For her, we got the general tso meal deal with fried rice. I asked for medium spice -- knowing that she doesn't like spice. But historically speaking, the general tso typically comes out like orange chicken because it's never spicy... which was the case this time. She said there was actually no discernable spice in her dish -- which was a bummer. My hot and sour soup was alright, the chicken lo mein was decent... and the almond chicken is pretty hard to mess up from what i've found, that's why i order that... So, all in all - it was good, it wasn't great, she was bummed out and her opinion means more here than mine... but she doesn't use yelp.

They even let me know how easy it is to take an extra order to go, which is just so practical for a busy schedule. Tonight was our lucky night as we were seated within minutes of our arrival. QQ Kitchen is very unassuming upon entry. Small sitting area that was filled with people waiting for their take-out orders. The dining area is small and decor is simple. There is one TV monitor and tonight, "Triple D" (Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives) was on. How appropriate, huh? Menu has a lot to offer making it challenging to arrive at a snap decision. Many great choices. We started off with Spring Rolls. Very refreshing taste and the peanut dipping sauce was quite tasty. Our dinner selections: Drunken Noodles; and Pad Thai w Shrimp. Both these dishes were excellent and very fairly priced for the food quality and portion size. A great deal of foot traffic for take-out orders during the entire time we were in the restaurant. Good sign. We had a fantastic meal and we will definitely be back yo visit QQ Kitchen. Well done!

Fish slices with preserved vegetable soup broth: Soup broth was rich with savory and sour taste of vegetables. Fish slices were a bit too thick and slightly mushy; might want to switch to another type of fish with firmer texture. Nevertheless, this dish is a bargain as it contains both a protein and a broth base (also with some rice noodles). Szechuan-style eggplants: standard. Sauce was too thick for my taste. Stir-fried spicy string beans: standard, very generous portion of minced pork and garlic adds a lot of flavor
