I am writing this review to let people know that Liberty Chevrolet in Wakefield is awesome and highly recommend them. I bought a 10 year old 2016 Chevy Sonic from them and discovered the A/C had an issue. The A/C was working but was leaking freon around the A/C compressor which unfortunately was not covered under the 90 day warranty. I reached out to Liberty "after" the sale where I had to pay to replace the A/C compressor and while Liberty really had no obligation to cover they offered me compensation to make right which I really appreciated. Again they stand behind their sales even after the fact so you will be in good hands if you choose Liberty! read more

I want to start this off by being fair, our direct Sales guy Herve was great. He was friendly responsive even after hours so the content of this review is not a reflection on him. I brought my 2024 Chevy Trax in with an very apparent engine knock. I had heard reports on this issue and was expecting the worst (Engine replacement with a long wait time). I had made an appointment for a Tuesday but had to have the vehicle towed there the Friday before, GM wanted to tow it to a different dealer but I stuck with Liberty. I left a message for the service department explaining the situation and asking to get a follow-up call back. Days went by and I heard nothing. My appointment day came and despite calling back multiple times the phone was never answered and voicemails never lead to a callback. The Friday after my appointment arrived with the dealer having my car a week and still nothing, me and my father (co owner of the vehicle) reached out to sales to get in touch with service. Only at this point did we finally get in touch with someone only to find out the vehicle has not even been taken on a diagnostic drive. We were assured it would be looked at immediately and we would get a call back in a few hours. I checked periodically the MyChevrolet App to see if they were driving it as it does tracking, come to find out my vehicle was parked 10 miles away in the middle of Salem. Now I work in the industry but I dont see many Techs taking a vehicle with a very obvious low end knock on a 20 mile "diagnostic ride" to a random spot in another town/city. We confronted about this the service department became flustered. We were then told the car could not be looked at until the following Tuesday because they need to tear apart the engine but it is now too hot to work on. Through all this I had been in contact with sales on potentially trading it in for a 2026 Trax as my 60k mile warranty was almost up on the 24. I wanted at this point to go elsewhere however they had my car that would ultimately be a trade in so I was basically stuck. My sales guy was able to find an upgrade I wanted and this is where things got worse. They offered me 1k less on trade then I was hoping so I countered and said I would walk for less because the financing wouldn't work, that where their sales manager came in. To start off this guy was extremely condescending. He starts off with a nice Power Move handshake (for lack of a better description the text book Donald Trump pull handshake) like he was showing his dominance. Which validates some of the other reviews here especially from Women being intimidated. He had a snarky answer for everything and responded like we were the dumbest people on the planet (I work in the industry, and my father grew up in it, his father retired from GM). They agreed to my terms but again a snarky attitude when I simply asked that I keep the basically brand new tires on my 24 and have those swapped to the 25 which I would pay for (this benefits them as they can now list my old car as having brand new OEM factory tires). We got passed along to Blake at this point in financing. We went in asking for a GM extended warranty however they wanted us to get their All State service plan stating it was better, when we countered saying they make more commission they said thats not true and they do it because its better than GMs and they care about their customers (after some research the All State plan doesn't mandate OEM parts are used, allows for negotiation of labor rates, and of course they make a higher commission selling it). We stood firm and got what we thought was an extended warranty, turns out is basically a service contract that I still need to pay a $100 deductible on which we don't remember being told because we were never given the documents for the warranty and were show the wrong documents and finance numbers multiple times during the process which added to the confusion. When we questioned the dealership about this after the fact when we found out it wasn't a warranty and we have a deductible (only found out because I noticed the warranty paper work was not included in what we received and reached for it to be sent over which it was however filled out and unsigned) we were told by Blake that he would not have forgotten to mention it because and I quote "he is a machine". There was questions about validity of signatures on said documents as we got sent unsigned documents twice however at this point its not a concern and could be a simple accident, however that doesn't change the fact that I was lead to believe it was a "WARRANTY" and not a service contract but now Im stuck with it as I paid for $2,000 for it. To wrap this up DO NOT GO HERE! They are condescending unprofessional and practice intimidation tactics as well as numerous instances of situations that were borderline bait and switch. Personally if I was GM I would kick them to the curb as a dealer. Word of advice find a Dealer that is still family owned. read more

I leased a car through Liberty Chevy in Wakefield, MA in March 2024. The level of service provided in the last year and a half has been nothing but unacceptable. The men who run this dealership are misogynistic and I would not recommend any of my female friends go to their business. (There has been 1 man who I did have a very pleasant conversation with over the phone: Joe Kerr. Shoutout to Joe, he is the exception to the rule at Liberty Chevy). I went to Liberty Chevy in March 2024 looking to lease a 2024 Trax. I had done extensive research and calculations before going in, and I knew that the Trax was the model I was looking for. It was the best option for my needs and budget and was the only option I was interested in seeing. My dad and I walked in looking for Joe to be our salesperson (he was the salesperson for my dad's car) but he was busy at the moment so we ended up with Ron Dalfonso. This was the moment it all started going wrong. My dad and I sat down with Ron and told him I wanted to look at a Trax. Ron immediately started trying to upsell us rather than give us what we asked for, saying "Are you sure you really want the Trax? I don't make any money on selling you that, the margins are bad." This comment really rubbed me the wrong way. As someone who has worked as a waitress and relied on tips, I can sympathize with a salesperson who relies on commission. However, I feel as if this comment was completely inappropriate. He was disregarding what I was asking for, and if you have a problem with the commission structure, that's something you need to take up with your manager, not the customer. When we were on the lot looking at the Trax models, we began speaking about leasing options. Bear in mind that I work in finance and have an MBA - I do understand how a loan payment is calculated, but leasing is new to me. I asked Ron how a lease payment is calculated differently than a loan to buy, and Ron would not give me an answer because he assumed I would not understand. He was treating me like I was a dumb girl. Moving on, I sit down to sign the papers to lease the Trax. Even though I wasn't thrilled with Ron's service up to this point, I still felt like the Trax was the best option for me, so I move forward with the deal anyway. I sit down to sign, and notice that my name is spelled incorrectly on all of the paperwork. Ron had a copy of my license from the test drive, and didn't even bother to make sure he had my name spelled correctly. We fixed it on the official paperwork before I signed anything, but to this day I still receive mail with my name spelled wrong. After I sign the paperwork, I'm told that my car is supposed to come with both floor mats and splash guards that are currently on backorder, and hence not currently in/on the car. I'm given an IOU signed by manager Blake stating that I'm owed parts and labor for these. Ron tells me they are estimated to come in about 6 weeks, and he'll call me when they are in. Flash forward a year and a half, and I never heard from Ron again. I've been back to Liberty Chevy multiple times for maintenance service and each time I ask for the floor mats and splash guards I'm owed, and still have yet to receive them. Every single time, Dave tells me he will look into ordering the mats & guards and will call me when they come in, but alas, no call. My dad was in last week and mentioned to his salesperson, Joe, that I was owed floor mats on the car that I leased a year and a half ago. Joe made things happen and was able to send my dad home with my floor mats! However, my dad didn't realize I'm also owed splash guards, so I still need those. Joe gave me a call (the only person from Chevy who has called me since I took my car home) and I explained this whole situation to him. He assured me that this is unacceptable, and to come in on Saturday to speak with a manager and get this solved. So I do exactly that. I bring my IOU and give it to a manager. I end up speaking with Blake, who was the original manager who signed the IOU. Blake comes up to me and says "Wow, I'm surprised you were able to hold onto this." I wish I asked him why he's surprised I am responsible enough to not lose an important piece of paper. I HIGHLY doubt he would have said this to a man. I told him yeah it's an important piece of paper so I've kept in my glovebox. His response "See, because I TOLD YOU to keep it in the glovebox." No. You are not credible for my being a responsible adult. I am a 28 year old adult woman, and this guy is speaking to me like I'm an irresponsible little girl. Mind you, this is the MANAGER. LADIES: DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. And because this dealership has yet to take me seriously, I still didn't leave today with my splash guards. I was told to call back on Monday. So I guess stay updated to see what happens next week. read more

Have been here twice and both times I felt like I was raped. Not literally. I will leave my first visit out of this BUT, my second visit, which was about 5 months ago I am more than willing to talk about. First, I get there at 5:45 and as I pulled up to the bay, the person inside (service advisor) turned add all of the lights. They are supposed to be open until 6:00. Thankfully another person (not in service) helped us out. Had to call numerous times to get an update. After spending $2500.00 for brakes and a noise in the front end, I got half way home and the noise in the front end was still there. They were already closed so I called the next morning and left a message for my service advisor. Many hours later, no response. I literally called service approximately 10 or more. Finally I got ahold of him. He said they fixed what was wrong and that they had their top guy on my vehicle. They never fixed my issue. They were also supposed to check my blindside detector since we were getting an error. They said the error never appeared while they had it. FUNNY, it came on before and after they had it. They were very professional with the whole process of trading my truck for a new one in the showroom. However I was having some issues with my new truck. Yes you read that correctly a brand new 2023 Silverado in the showroom was giving me issues the second week of owning it. The infotainment system wouldn't work the volume would randomly go away not letting me use anything in the screen or even make or take calls. I brought it in to have it looked at and the technician confirmed I had no working infotainment wow go figure. At the same time GM financial had no knowledge or record of me ever purchasing a vehicle even thought I was starring at my brand new truck on my driveway with my own eyes. I attempted to make my first monthly payment and they were clueless and my purchase didn't exist. I return to the dealership and they said they messed up the paperwork and will have to resend the paperwork to GM financial. Since this was their fault they offered to make that monthly payment since I made the effort to pay but I didn't exist. I got the statement and I now owed 2 months worth of payments I called the dealer and they said there was another mix up therefore the statement GM sent me was true. Even though they said they'd cover the month for dropping the ball on paperwork they didn't make the payment and I got hit with two months worth. Thankfully GM financial heard my case and they filed a complaint against the dealership and waived any late fees due to this mess. read more

I got my truck appraised here and I haven't stopped receiving spam emails ever since I gave them my contact information. I'm not just talking about their office contacting me after I've told them to stop calling but random life insurance emails and debt relief emails. What the hell is going on here? I had scheduled a service on my new truck here but I canceled it and would rather spend money for an uber ride to/from another Chevrolet dealership farther away while my truck gets worked on. Disappointed by our experience here. Went in to purchase a new vehicle, explained we would be paying cash as we had financially prepared to do so. After putting a down payment and waiting for 2 months for the vehicle to arrive, they refused to sell us the vehicle unless we financed it. They cited the pandemic as the reason for this. Called other area Chevy dealers and none of them had this practice. If we had been told from the beginning that financing was the only option, we would have understood and looked elsewhere. Ended up going with a Subaru which was a better deal and accepted our cash payment. read more

Brought my car here for service to check out transmission and brakes. Liberty found no transmission issues (no explanation for the symptoms I was having) but two subsequent mechanics did. I did replace my brakes and rotors. Immediately upon its replacement the brakes were grinding and squeaking. I waited a couple of weeks to bring the car back in. I was told they needed more time to "break in" and they lubricated things. The squeaking stopped but the grinding continued. Drove the care another thousand or so miles and the grinding went on. Took it in again - replaced the brake pads. Grinding continues another 1000 miles later. So now I've spent about $700 on brakes and rotors, $120 on 6 uber rides, and still have defective brakes. This operation looks like nobody wants to be alive let alone speak to a customer. I got a79 Chevy Malibu as a gift from a passed family member . I was instructed to have a few Chevy enthusiasts perhaps to look it over. All I got was insults . The car is rotten, the car leaks. When you gonna get it out of here......? And so on. I brought the truck back in on 11/26, because it was still leaking oil in the same spot. They put it up on the lift and looked at it and said they could not see a problem. They thought the leak may have been from left over oil. They added dye to the powering steering fluid to see if that would show anything. I took the truck home. Brought the truck back in again on 11/29. Same problem leaking oil in the same spot. This time when I went home, I had put cardboard under the truck to show them where it was leaking from. They put it back up on the lift and this time they told me it was leaking from a gasket under the oil filter. They said they don't know how they didn't see it before. (They had done an oil change a couple of weeks before). Bottom line, they charged me a total of $3534.82 to repair a leak, that ultimately was their fault and should have been repaired the first time with a $2.00 oil filter gasket. Please, for your own sake, find a service center that knows what they are doing. We are going to contact GM and report this situation to them. read more

I had a quote from a neighboring dealership and I called and spoke to someone named Robin who told me time and time again they would not give me any information over the phone they needed to see my truck that I was looking to trade in and that it was imperative I got to the dealership to see them in person. After going back-and-forth for over a week explaining to them that I have a job and my children are remote school learning and I didn't have much time I finally said I would go in to visit. Literally walked into the dealership this lady Robin said oh here is Tim he'll work with you now. Keep in mind they already knew the quote I got from the neighboring dealership not once did anyone offer to go look at the truck that I was willing to trade and they finally gave me a price on a new vehicle that was $150 more per month than the competition. What a complete waste of time I wouldn't go back to that dealership if they were the last one on earth. read more

TL;DR: My experience with Joe and team is that they gave me the truck I wanted, at the price point I wanted and have been a pleasure to work with the entire time. I stopped in just to look at the Silverado's and met Joe K. I was asked what it would take to get me out of my old truck and into a new one. I gave them what it would take not expecting it to work out. By the time I returned from the test drive, they had a deal within my range. But I didn't have the time to wait around as we needed to get kids to practice. They were extremely understanding and trusting. All the behind the scene work that usually results in hours at a dealership was done while I ran my errands. In all, I spent the least amount of time physically at a dealership that resulted in me driving away with a new vehicle. The support and communication from Joe didn't end when I drove off the lot. I didn't notice it when picking it up, but there was a scratch in the tailgate an inch long. Snapped a pic and sent it to Joe, and arranged to have it touched up. Mentioned someone walked on the bed while the LineX was still wet and left footprints... Joe said he make a call. Now, could I have negotiated a better deal with my trade in? Probably. But that's on me. Are the other reviews on Yelp warranted? Don't know as they were not my experience. This was actually my second time at this dealership, and it was the friendly experience of that first trip with a different sales person, that in all honestly did not result in a purchase to no fault of the dealership, that led my wife and I to return when it was time to buy my pickup. I love my new truck, but if I find myself in the market again for a Chevy, I'll be starting my search here. read more

The Service Department at the Dealership is TERRIBLE!!!!! I made an appointment for Service on a Wednesday morning. 4 Days later they still had not diagnosed the vehicle. When I purchased my truck, I tole the business manager I wanted a extended warranty that would cover me through my loan. He said, I can give you a 6 year extended warranty for $$$. I said ok. The truck was a GM Certified Vehicle. so I had a 12 MO bumper to bumper warranty that came with it. I knew that in reality I would only be getting 5 years for 6. But either way I was covered for the length of the loan. I am now 3 years in only to find out my extended warranty is ending. The piece of crap business manager sold me a 6 year warranty and it was back dated to the day the truck was built. I now know this is common practice, however, if some one tells you he wants a warranty to cover the loan; You should fully disclose what you are doing. Instead they let me walk out thinking I was cover and knowing that in fact I was not. I paid for a 6 year warranty and in all reality got 2 years. If I was fully informed, I would have purchased a lesser warranty for longer time that would cover major components like engine and power train for the same money. On another note: The service department is arrogant and rude. I just bought a car from them and they could not even put a sticker on it for me. I had to get my own sticker. They are deceptive, sneaky and rude! I will never buy from them again! read more

If there was 0 stars they'd be getting 0. 5 months, $10,000, & 5 trips to Wakefield later...spliced a few wires, new alternator, new isolator, more wires spliced, 2 weeks at Allison, new ECU... My truck bed lights don't work - they worked before I brought in the truck Tried to charge me another $5500 for brakes because they "smoked" on a test drive. The brakes are perfectly fine and we're done also prior to my visit. Matt from service - horrible communication skills, didn't return my calls in a timely manner. Lennie, Service manager - gave me a hard time when I showed him a towing bill for $750 from the same date I picked up my truck. Literally broke down within 2 hours of leaving the Liberty. The tech assigned to my truck literally disrespected me in front of Matt, Lennie & Michael Psomos and looked like he wanted to fight me. (Super unprofessional - wish I remembered his name) Michael Psomos (Fixed operations director) just puts everything back on Lennie. Very hands off. To open.... I've always been a imported car guy. Volvo, Saab, Volkswagen, and Hyundai. So when I was looking for a new car, and a friend suggested Chevy, I was skeptical. THESE GUYS ARE GREAT!!! They really know their stuff when it comes to their cars and the brand. The showroom is very open and inviting with a friendly staff. The key for me was being allowed to look over the cars without being assaulted. BUT once I was ready to "talk turkey" the staff was ready and accommodating. The salesman asked me what I did and what I was looking for in a car. He was quite attentive and looked through his inventory for a matching car. I went with the Sonic and I'm very pleased! They did everything from registering the car to getting my plates. It was actually easier to buy the car from them than to deal with Mass RMV! My next car will definitely be from Liberty and would easily recommend them to others (which I suppose is precisely what this review is! ) read more

Put a $2000 deposit on a truck in December 27th, truck was supposed to be all set for me on Jan 1st. They actually demanded I come in to pay for the truck on Jan 1st. And when I showed up they said they hadn't received the truck yet. Called today for the 10th time looking for an update, no one ever returned my call. Talked to Chevy customer service and they said the truck had been delivered to the dealership in January. Obviously the truck was sold to someone and they never told me, all the while holding my deposit, pretending they were still waiting for the arrival, and never returning a single call to the dealership. Today I asked for the manager and Robin said he wasn't in the dealership yet and wasn't expected in until later in the morning. Asked her if I should call Chevy to figure out when the truck was coming and miraculously the manager was in the phone in 20seconds. Manager said I would get a call today between 1:00 - 2:00, no call back. Just called and got a rude "Blake" who took my card info down for a refund of $500 and was pissed off when I told him it was $2000 and hung up when I asked for email confirmation. Every single person down there from John Anzalone, to Robin, to Karlee, and Blake are rude. I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of their mouths when buying a car from them. read more

Beyond disappointed with the service of my Chevy vehicle at Liberty Chevy. Mechanics and service team do not dedicate enough time when servicing vehicles. The team failed to fix a repair of my vehicle after several attempts at the dealership. They could not even perform a simple oil change and tire rotation correctly. Sent an email to both the service manager and general manager of the dealership and neither employee took the time to provide a response. read more

I worked with Ron at Liberty Chevy in Wakefield to buy my Colorado. Not only was he knowledgeable about all things Chevy he did it with an unmatched charisma. He became an immediate friend, and did not come off as your average sales pitching car sales man. This is the place your dad warns you about. I wish I read the reviews on their Facebook page before stepping foot in there. Talk about sleazy used car sales men, scam artists, BAIT AND SWITCH clowns . They are super friendly and nice when they want something from you, but they are nothing but LIARS after you sign. Their secretary is in the wrong job, can't handle her work load, never calls back. The fact that I was about to have Wakefield police escort me down there to either get my money or my car back should tell you everything you need to know. Stay away, never in my life have I ever been treated so poorly by a dealership. They are ALL in the wrong business. read more

The SERVICE department is amazing! Eddie Devanna along with his manger Henry Rockwood were excellent. They went above and beyond to make sure I was informed about the damage done to my fuel line (thanks to Valet) to NEW Suburban. I was even given a loaner car while my Suburban was in the shop for 2 days! Eddie was very honest, polite and informative. He was able to get me a reasonable price to repair the line knowing my suburban wasn't even a month old and how stressed i was. THANK YOU SO MUCH EDDIE! Dean-sales department (not sure of last name) was awesome great, he showed me to my loaner car, assuring me everything will be okay. I cant say enough about the SERVICE DEPARTMENT at Liberty Chevy. As for the Sales Department (John Anzalone) was extremely rude when i came into the store on a Sunday morning crying bc my car was towed to Liberty from Boston. I explained my fuel line broke and i have no idea how the damaged happened. His first response was "did you purchase the car here?" I said no i went to Quirk. His reply "Well that is why you are having a problem already, Quirk Chevy doesn't do proper checks before putting their cars on the lot, Quirk just wants to move the cars. Hence the reason i got a great deal." He persisted to talk negatively about Quirk which i feel was very unprofessional. I was already extremely upset and his attitude didnt help the situation! I HIGHLY recommend the SERVICE Department for any of your car repairs. Ask for Ed and you wont be disappointed! read more
