Salt Stain

Posting this review was not an easy decision for me as I have no desire to post it in the spirit of punishing anyone but things have gone too far today and things need to change. The servicing experience today was gross and it was a disaster. I recently purchased a CX-5 2018 AWD and we had a bit of a rocky start - 1) Within the 2nd week of driving, the engine began acting erratically one night when my gf and I were out near Boston. The sound of a struggling, revving engine and significantly diminished ability to accelerate began a rather long frightening 5 minutes of trying to figure out what happened on a highway with no places to stop. The clutch was on D the whole time. After we checked every button, knob, and anything that could move or change, it was when I gently pulled the clutch which nudged it like a fraction of a millimeter back, the sound and problem went away and the car was normal again. Strange I thought. Then 20 minutes later in Assembly Square Row, the clutch got brushed ever so slightly by me/my gf's hand moving and the sound and situation all came back. Again I nudged back the clutch a fraction of a millimeter and the problem went away. This hypersensitive clutch was not expected. 2) A few days later, the TPMS indicator light came on in this brand new car. Yes it was a cold day but my mother's Honda CRV which is almost a year old now never had a single such light come on for its tenure. 3) When I had first purchased the car, there was a piece of wadded up plastic trash that the car came with. It was inside the lift compartment. So when the customer satisfaction call came to me I brought these issues up and the dealership offered to 1) Recondition the car 2) Fully clean and detail the interior and exterior So I brought my car in yesterday and scheduled to pick it up this morning after they finish... That's when the fun began... I went out to see my car and noticed 4 big salt/soap stains dried and crusted on the rear door and on the top of the rear bumper. Asked what happened there. Mike was speechless for a few seconds. He takes out a napkin, licks/spits into it, and begins to try to wipe the salt stains. He then asks me if I was happy with the service... I almost gave him a real piece of my mind at that point but holding back, I told him I couldn't say I'm not disappointed right now... I find it unbelievable that you are spitting into a napkin to clean my car right now... (Without even apologizing or acting like anything was really wrong) He goes, "We can take the car back in - Do you want me to take the car back in to be looked at?" I gave him a fake smile, told him not to worry about it, and drove home. It was gross, their attitude was total crap, and I am horrified that this is the kind of service I'll be walking into every time I need something done for my car. Please help!

I am sorry to write a negative public review of this dealership, but I can't get anyone to help with a SERIOUS SERVICE ISSUE. I've called twice and emailed twice in the last TWO WEEKS, and the service manager and general manager are never able to speak with me or contact me. I spent $2300 in October '25 on a catalytic converter on the advice of the service department. In January '26, my check engine light came back on, giving the same catalytic converter code. They said it must have been a bad part and replaced it. It's now April '26, and my light is back on for the third time and giving the same catalytic converter code. At this point, I'VE SPENT $2300 AND TAKEN TWO DAYS OFF OF WORK, THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED, AND I CAN'T GET ANYONE TO SPEAK WITH ME ABOUT IT. I bought the car at this dealership and I've had all major service done there for many years now. This is how they treat a loyal customer, apparently. I DO NOT recommend this dealership and I'd advise staying FAR AWAY. If the service manager or general manager will PLEASE return my call and remedy this situation, I'll be glad to amend my review with updated information. UPDATE, May '26: I was finally connected with the service manager, who supervised another examination of my car, and they found a small exhaust leak in the flex pipe near the catalytic converter. The good news- they appear to have fixed it. The bad news- there is still a 50/50 chance that I paid for a catalytic converter that I didn't need. The service manager claims that the leak was caused by them removing the original converter, and that the original converter was bad. It's my opinion that because they failed to find the leak in January, they could have also failed to find the same leak in October, and therefore the leak could have been the original problem, not the catalytic converter (an exhaust leak CAN cause a catalytic converter code to show). Given that uncertainty, I suggested a PARTIAL refund. The service manager was not open to this. He said he'd talk to the dealership owner about it, and I never heard back about that, so I can only assume that that conversation never happened. In addition, I now hear a CLUNKING SOUND under the car, which wasn't there before my last visit when they worked on the exhaust. I contacted the service manager directly about that, and, you guessed it, I never heard back. I don't like posting negative reviews because you never know when a person or business is just having a bad moment. But after being REPEATEDLY IGNORED and, in my opinion, refused even a partial refund for expensive work that was potentially not even needed, I feel a negative review is warranted. I've presented all of my concerns face to face with the service manager, so the dealership had every opportunity to remedy this situation and they sadly, CHOSE NOT TO.

I flew in from Alaska to pick up this vehicle and drive it back up the Alcan, a very strenuous and treacherous drive for any vehicle. My SUV performed flawlessly even Better than what I had expected. Alex who now I would like to call a friend along with the Wakefield staff, had my best interests as his top priority. They went out of their way to have my vehicle safety inspected, cleaned, and a new oil change to ensure it was prepared for the arduous journey across the North American continent. Alex and the others at Wakefield are real people and they will treat you as you treat them, in my case with respect and care for each others business and well being. I have never had a used auto sales team take care of me the way Wakefield Auto Gallery did, Incredible. You get back what you put in, if you don't want to put in the extra dollar, you're going to be less fortunate and not satisfied. What a great deal, value, and experience overall. Thanks so much!
