We eat here a couple of times per week and we love it. The service is always outstanding!! The ambiance is an old diner type, but not very noisy. We have had almost everything on the menu and most of the desserts. The food is good, but I am a spicy flavorful kind of person and the only thing I have found to have a good flavor is the Salmon. You can get flavor added to the grilled fish and chicken and it's awesome. Food is always cooked perfect, except for the French toast. They have only had one cook that made French toast where it wasn't soggy in the middle, but he is obviously not there anymore, it has great flavor, but soggy. Everything else on the menu is good, so give it a try, I think you will enjoy it! read more

Went to eat on Wednesday at 7pm, ordered the catfish and baked potatoes and salad bar, what a let down!! The potato was cold , the fish had no seasoning on it and the salad bar was lacking as well. The salad bare was almost empty and the croutons were store bought and no taste. We have been going there for several years now, so wondering what happened. We will not be going back. We so sorry that this place has gone downhill! read more

Libby's is a spot we got for southern fried fish and make some really good fries as a side. I have tried other menu items but they are just not as memorable. You won't leave hungry and the service is usually pretty fast and friendly. The salad bar is a relic (this is a compliment from this greybeard) and prices are reasonable. read more

Based on what I had heard, I was expecting a lot more from my dinner at Libby's. We arrived around 7 on a Tuesday and the downstairs was entirely full. We were seated immediately and had our drink orders taken. After that, it took several minutes before we had our drinks. Also, they only had 2 servers for the whole dining room, which meant it took several more minutes for our server to take our order. Given how busy they were, I would hope they would add another server, as the 2 servers were running ragged the whole time I was there. I went with the single chicken fried steak, which comes with 2 sides and a roll. I went with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The dinner is a ton of food for $9.50. The steak is large, and it was covered with gravy. The gravy looked like classic pepper cream gravy, but it lacked seasoning. I wore out the salt and pepper shakers adding flavor to this gravy. The steak was very thin, it may be the thinnest chicken fried steak I've ever had. Despite it being so thin, you couldn't cut it without a knife. The breading was crispy, but like the gravy, it lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes were standard, as was the deep fried okra. I will say the okra's breading was thinner, which I prefer to overly thick breading on okra. I sampled a piece of fried catfish from one of my friend's plates. They are large pieces, thick with flaky fish. It has the requisite cornmeal crust, and it was a nice crunchy breading. It was the best thing I ate, and I see why it's such a popular dish at Libby's. Libby's has a lot of seating downstairs, and it's a bar upstairs. I can see why it's popular, the place is comfortable and it serves classic comfort food which is typically popular in Oklahoma. But, most of the food just didn't land for me. I'd return, but not for the chicken fried steak. read more

Hope-in-the-Wall, small town appeal greets each diner at the door. What appears to be copper ceilings, corrugated tin walls covered with farm tools and historic pictures of the area. The young elk head overlooks the diners as home cooking is happily consumed. There's a family table of 20, single diners at two-top tables, red 'leather' booths, and an old pew lines one section of the main dining room, giving a nod to nostalgic comforts. Expo window is a wide open space, allowing patrons to see the hustle and bustle of the cooks. Back in the first room sets a very clean and very full salad bar of fresh ingredients. Pea salad, homemade slaw (not a cream slaw), and a cold spaghetti salad pay homage to Sunday potlucks at church. The food arrives, and our eyes are So Happy. Generous portions of fried catfish allows even hearty eaters an opportunity to take some home. A fair amount of sides offer customizing of your lunch or dinner. With my fried catfish 4-piece, I opted for pinto beans and fried okra. (I envision a large bowl of these tasty pinto beans and a side of cornbread during the upcoming cold winter days.) Ron's chicken fried steak dinner was HUGE, lightly coated, and REAL MASHED POTATOS covered in a simple cream gravy. Nothing frilly, just stick-to-your-ribs eating. A wonderful diversion from average. Whoever developed the menu here must be entirely capricious: from Southwest eggrolls to wraps to Spicy Chicken Sliders to burgers to a Six Piece Shrimp Dinner to steaks, Libby's offers the proverbial kitchen sink. Based on my narrow selection, the kitchen sink ain't bad, and if you don't know what you want when you leave, they have that when you get here. In a severe case of dimensional transcendentalism, the restaurant is two sizes larger than the town it is in. Based purely on the size, they must be doing things right. Even mid-week, there is a steady flow of customers which the perceived population of Goldsby belies. The decor is Urban Cowboy, truck stop, Eastern European chic--lacking of theme or pretension. Of particular interest is the half-booth that ponies up to the prep table for the wait staff. (You might ask if there is a discount for plating your own food while you eat.) The last few times I've been to Libby's the food was cold or not fully cooked at our table and had to be sent back. Over the years I have enjoyed coming here. Mostly during the summer. It's not too busy but it can be relaxing to shoot a game of pool while listening to a live band. The food however is hit and miss. They have certain items that you can tell they take pride in. The catfish is one of them. Wow I must say. Tastes amazing and when you order the large they don't skimp you. However certain items like the pork chops are not their best. But still it isn't enough to say I won't come back because I will. I think the staff is courteous and I like the atmosphere. I live in OKC, we drove south of Norman for what I've been told is "the best catfish in Oklahoma." If you've been told that, you've been told wrong. There are reasons to head south of the OU border to Libby's, but none of them revolve around their food. Sitting downstairs is a completely different experience than sitting upstairs. The lower level is family friendly, covered with the standard, "hey, we're in small town Oklahoma so we'll cover the walls with fish and dead deer" decor. The upstairs is a pretty spectacular place with flat screen TVs, pool tables, pub style seating and a full bar. Not to be too sexist, but the upstairs server might be one of the most beautiful "girl next door" blondes I've seen working for minimum wage. ;) So here we go on the food... Average and overpriced. I expected the homestyle cooking to be full of flavor and overflow the edges of my plate like I'm used to in small towns. Instead, my sandwich was served on a large plate on day old wheat bread probably picked up from Wal*Mart. There was enough white space it would've make any modernist happy. I've made a better sandwich with leftovers found in my kitchen. The catfish was pretty good, but I'm a fan of thin crispy fillets, not the thick ones we were served up here. The fries were home sliced and cooked, but disappointingly soggy. The chicken strips were bland, the grilled pork chops were juicy but nothing screamed, "ORDER ME AGAIN." Long review short, I'll probably head back there in the summer on my cycle for some partying but probably won't be ordering up any food. read more

Came here on the way to Marcum's and decided to stop in for a try. The hostess was very sweet, and we were seated immediately. It was a Sunday, but I think we missed the big after-church rush, so ordering was timely and the food was delivered hot and fresh. I had a burger and onion rings, which was a good value, and my boyfriend had the chicken fried steak, which he devoured. I do agree with some folks that say the wait staff is pretty rough. I don't know that they've had a lot of experience in a high-volume restaurant, but judging from their being a little lost, I'm going to guess not. Once a larger table was seated next to us, we pretty much disappeared from her radar. Once we were able to flag her down and get some cobbler, but this was served luke-warm, so ick. We also had to ask repeatedly for refills for our drinks. So maybe some training or more waitstaff would help. read more

Excellent food. They have a huge menu. I got a chicken fried steak sandwich on Texas toast and the thing was the size of Iowa! The toast looked cute sitting on this frisbee of fried goodness. The fries are homemade and I loved them. My husband ordered a western omelet that came with biscuits and gravy (99% of the breakfast options come with biscuits and gravy). There was a note on the menu that said if you wanted hash browns to just ask for them- at no additional charge! The beverages were also free so for two heaping plates of food, the bill came to $18 and some change. Awesome! The decor is a little strange. Antique furniture for sale when you walk in, corrugated steel walls covered in old photographs, tables covered in advertisements...but it was clean. The service was fantastic and the food was great. Super cute place! I recently had to move out of college early and my mom, boyfriend, and I decided to stop here for a quick bite. Our waitress was the sweetest soul and the food was amazing! Our waiter went above and beyond by keeping my boyfriend food warm while he raced over to meet us. Some of the best service I've ever received. I've recently gone on a strict diet, and I was able to find something here! This place is adorable and is a classic country diner. I'll definitely have to bring some friends here when we get back to OU! read more

Libby's has always been one of our favorite places it continues to be very good. However in the past year the service and the food quality has gone somewhat down hill and Scott and Libby don't seem to be around as much watching the crew and I think that's what the problem is. The prices are the most reasonable four restaurant of this type and they make homemade french fries that are outstanding along with the rest of their food lot of people come for the catfish we go for the breakfast on Sundays and it's never so crowded you can't get in I just wish their service and their food quality would come back up hill a little bit read more

Just a traveler, I frequent this area 3-4 times a year for the horse business. Stopped in on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. Great Service, drink never got below half full. I had a "light" lunch, Chicken salad sandwich and fries. Ingredients were fresh. Fries homemade and very tasty. Peach Cobbler topped it off which was also homemade and had a great cinnamon crust which was awesome. All and all great experience and will continue to come back when i am in town. read more

I'm rating it 4 stars based on what it is...a roadside diner in small town USA. I've been here several times, under several different circumstances: breakfast, dinner, and late night. Overall, it's what you'd expect in terms of menu selection. Their chicken fried steak and catfish are pretty good, they offer tator tots. You know, the usual. They also have a salad bar. The late night (upstairs and patio) scene is also interesting. It's frequented by the locals, not many Normanites make it down there. And that was cool. Friday nights we've done karaoke, and it really is a good time, especially when it's a nice night for the patio. Nothing special in terms of bar options or prices, it's the kinda place that has buckets of domestics. But hey, it is what it is and I love it for that. read more

Decent one trip salad bar as one of your 2 sides. Down home comfort food at decent prices. I have had problems in the past driving down there when you would think they would be open only to find that the upstairs bar is open but not the downstairs restaurant.
