I recommend the place but be cautious of up charges. Question all recommendations for repair/replacement. I had an oil change and component inspection. Everything was great until they got to my cabin air filter which sits behind the glove compartment. It takes about 5 seconds to access the filter, and I was surprised that the filter they showed me was so dirty as the car had approximately only 6,200 miles on it and had never been on a dirt road. They quoted me $50.00 to replace this filter. My 81-year-old geriatric, senility inclined dumbass told them to change it, although I knew better. The filter costs about $18.00. They had already taken the 5 seconds to access it and remove it. Putting the new one in and closing the glove box would take another 10 seconds which should have been covered under the component inspection price included with the oil change. THE ISSUE HERE IS they charged me $50.00 for an $18.00 filter and $32.00 for a 10 second installation. Nice place and nice folks don't always add up to the best service.

I have taken my vehicle to 3 other auto shops in this area, I always get this, "Well, due to the mileage on the vehicle, there shouldn`t be any issues."Excuse me, I work from home, I don`t drive it much, but I have the right to have a perfectly running vehicle when need to go somewhere. OR "If it isn`t broken, don`t fix it." This is my favorite,"You don`t drive it as much, there`s no reason for checking it often ". I`ve had so many people recommend these places and this is what I get!? THEY CALL THEMSELVES MECHANICS!?!? Guess my money wasn`t good enough for you. B & H will take it. I don`t know if B and H can find and repair anything, but I`have tears of happiness, only because they listened to me. They didn`t make me feel like I was just a typical stupid person and I didn`t know what I was talking about. EVERY driver should be listening to their car and have it checked out if they hear something weird. I wouldn`t care if they don`t find anything wrong and wouldn`t care if they sent it back not fixed (I actually do, because I do need a vehicle, BADLY, driving a short distance gives me a tiny respite). I`m just so proud to have this place take their time (even though I have cabin fever 10 x`s over, a sick family member has had me home bound since last November,I need to get out of here). Unfortunately, my experience was marked by consistently poor communication from the start. It took days between his responses. David came out to assess my vehicle and charged a $50 fee. I chose to move forward with the repairs, he advised me not to drive the car in the meantime. Taking that seriously, I arranged for a rental vehicle for a week while waiting for his next available appointment. The night before the scheduled repair, I messaged David to confirm our appointment. He read the message but never responded. The following day, which was the day he was supposed to show up, came and went, still no word from him. This situation ended up costing me not only the $50 fee, but also over $300 in rental fees, not to mention the inconvenience of rearranging my schedule. Overall, the lack of communication and professionalism was incredibly disappointing. EDITED/UPDATED my review to include proof of payment that he is calming he never got. No reason to lie about anything on my part!

This is why I always make my mother put her calls on speaker because Steve's wife(Rochelle) and daughter, for whatever reason, have a habit of lying about things and have pretty consistently bullied my elderly mother for years. So apparently the daughter lied and said that my mother cussed her out, which she would never do, so when we got here this morning Steve told my mother you can't come here anymore instead of calling her and canceling it and having the guts to do that knowing she would be driving all the way in from Flagstaff. The behavior from his family is something documented on Reddit in several threads about mechanics around Phoenix, yelp, and other parts of the Internet so it's incredibly easy to verify this information and since his wife and daughter are now answering all of the complaints posts on yelp, I'm very curious to see how they respond to my very honest review. I also have that phone call recorded so I might post it on YouTube and link to it here to expose the obvious lying by Steve's daughter and i'm taking it to another mechanic to have them look at the work that was just done on it with the water pump and timing belt to make sure it was done correctly. In the short time that I posted this review, several people reached out expressing how many problems they had at A1 auto and recommended two mechanics in Apache Junction and Mesa and I've already spoken to both on the phone and not only are their mechanics knowledgeable, but their office staff is spectacular!! I consider this a good thing because now we have better places to get car repairs done! This community on Yelp really comes together to help people when it's needed.
