This was our last stop after a long day of eating and drinking all over downtown. I'm glad we decided to check it out because it was super fun. Some of the games were free while others you had to pay for. They had super retro games like Tetris and Super Mario Brothers as well as pinball machines and air hockey. The cocktails were fairly priced and tasted decent. Definitely a cool spot to check out if you are in the area. Oh and there wasn't any cover charge!

Their menu was above satisfactory. They had some unique options, amongst the standard. All were high quality. If you're into alcohol (my Dad and I don't have never drank alcohol, and will never) they seemed to be pretty popular in that field. It should be pretty easy to meet the stated from the get-go purchase minimum of two drinks, and two food items. Their waiters did fine, but they need to get more. I'm pretty sure the three main rows of tables, had one waiter for each row. I can only imagine how many they had for the rest of the seating areas. It had a typical bar atmosphere, slightly enhanced by some nicer tables and chairs. I'd say the inside overall didn't feel new or old, but also didn't feel rundown. It also had an intriguingly large yet intimate feel. I was a bit letdown by the crowd. It seemed as though most were here because it was something to do/somewhere to drink. There weren't "no laughs" but definitely not as many as I expected, and not as loud or hard as I expected. Overall, I was here to see and meet one of my favorite people ever. This club could've been average, and I'd have still had a great time. If I ever return, I'll reassess my thoughts and write a new review. (Or update this one...still a bit hazy on Yelp's new rules.) This club also crushed it considering it was the day after Christmas. I'd say if this is the closest location for you to see someone you LOVE, you should have a great time.

Starlight Lounge: Where Eugene's Secret Broadway Rejects Serenade You (And It's Weirdly Good)…read more Gave the Starlight Lounge a whirl last Sunday for their karaoke night. Expectations were set somewhere between "drunken caterwauling" and "mildly painful nostalgia." Color me... surprised! Let's cut to the chase: the *talent* here. Eugene, who knew? Several performers weren't just "good for karaoke," they were legitimately, bafflingly excellent. Like, "should probably be charging admission or at least bothering Broadway agents" levels. One individual in particular possessed the kind of voice that makes you wonder why they're belting show tunes in a dimly lit Eugene bar on a Friday and not, you know, on a stage where people pay actual money. It was impressively non-awful. Actually, scratch that. It was great. Shockingly so. Drinks? Perfectly serviceable. Major points for the extensive non-alcoholic menu. They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met. Manage expectations. It's a pleasantly nice hidden gem, truly. Emphasis on gem but also on hidden and possibly on the faint scent of... well, I didn't try the women's restroom this time. That particular adventure, and its potential to swiftly terminate an evening "May or may" not determine if one needs to head home cause she's unable to use a disgusting toilet) is reserved for my next visit. A critical data point, one might say. Overall- Surprisingly excellent karaoke talent (seriously), good drinks (booze-free options aplenty), comfy vibe, proactive DJ. Minus points for existential questions raised by the talent pool's location and the looming bathroom inspection. **3+ stars. Good job, guys. Keep it up! P.S: it was ass FREE less the drinks etc... SCORE! 3 out of 5 = Good Job Helping hands; improve and attract more customers. 1. Partner with Downtown Hotels: Drop off flyers/promo cards at hotel concierge desk highlighting your surprisingly Broadway-level karaoke and extensive mocktail menu - perfect for tourists looking for unique, non-club nightlife. 2. Advertise Themed Nights in "The Weekly": Run simple, recurring ads or event listings for specific karaoke nights (e.g., "Showtune Sundays," "80s Power Hour") in Eugene's free weekly paper - targets locals planning their week. 3. Leverage Social Media Snippets: Post short video clips (even just 15-30 seconds!) of your best singers (with permission!) on Instagram/Facebook; yes even facebook. Showcase the talent & vibe - proof beats description. 4. Promote Mocktails Specifically: Add a dedicated "Zero Proof Stars" section to your drink menu/online & mention it explicitly in ads. Eugene's health-conscious crowd will notice. 5. Offer a "First-Timer" Perk: Give a small discount on a well drink or mocktail to anyone the DJ recruits to sing for the first time. Lowers the barrier, rewards participation. Good luck & I have faith you will continue to make wonderful cherished memories.

The place is extremely clean, no smell and the cats are well cared for. The owner however is a nightmare. Michelle is the most UNWELCOMING person and a deterrent to visiting this place. She has a manic energy and is a complete control freak and outright rude. She'll give you a long list of things you cannot do, like wake the cats up, scratch their belly or hold a cat wand toy too high. they have fewer rules at Disneyland. You know your perception of weird cat lady? She's that! Honestly if I found a cat I wanted to adopt I'd think twice before wanting to deal with her as a liaison for the rescues. She's totally off putting. Once you're in the "lounge" she'll eagle eye you by coming in and sitting at a table and watch you interact with the cats, even though there is a huge glass window and she can see everything from her front desk. It's very uncomfortable and I did not have an enjoyable time. I was previewing this business in hopes of bringing friends here, but I'll pass. I am glad they have been able to adopt out a good number of cats and the place could be fun and enjoyable if she'd back off and learn some etiquette. If I were a cat I'd hiss at her...

I've always thought Springfield and Eugene would benefit from having a cat café especially since there's a lot animal lovers and there's a lot of places to do. but the variety of things do, is much needed for the area. I thought it would be great especially from a mental health advocate point of view too, stress free for people to enjoy. [Location, Space & staff] I really love that the space was clean and well organized. it wasn't too small of a space. staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. I also love the fact that you can adopt the cats which is great so they could find homes. I really love the location because it's not too close to Autzen but on the familiar road to! I think the location is nearly perfect, as there's plenty of space to park. I definitely think it's so worth it to visit and spend an hour with these cats. I definitely am interested in the frequent visitor pass! [Drinks & snacks] Springfield Cat Lounge offered a few local beverages which I appreciate. They also had a variety of snacks, which I really loved since it's very inclusive for different dietary needs. I particularly love the Boba tea protein bar!! Never seen anything like it! [Merch] Shirts blankets tote bags and other cat related items or souvenirs are available to buy and in plenty! Also has local art and jewelry! I found most items were reasonably priced. [Note about rules] Only one thing I was not entirely happy about was when I saw there wasn't a reinforcement of rules, in the cat lounge area. Particularly the rule of not waking up any napping cats;about halfway into my visit, A couple came in and they were just waking up all the napping cats which I didn't appreciate. Part since it's a rule that was told by staff and I felt bad for the cats as they were napping, and then somebody put their hand in front of their faces.. [Events and more activities!] They offer doing knitting and occasionally other activities for an hour some part of the weeks, as part of their weekly events. So far, it has been the same price as a regular visit admission, which I really love! Overall, definitely looking forward to being a frequent visitor and keep on supporting this wonderful amazing local business!! Note the only other cat cafe in Oregon is in Bend. The one in Portland sadly closed I beli I visited the week of April 20th 2024, not sure why my review didn't post : ( so if there's any changes please keep that in mind.

But for the most part very good the enchiladas are fabulous, the tlayuda delicious and many other meals. I genuinely liked this place. But after tonight, I have to say that the complete lack of respect shown toward the food was mind-blowing. There were three things tonight that simply could not be forgiven. 1. The Ceviche Trio The pulpo was chewy as a bouncy ball wrapped in rubber bands--completely inedible. The fish had no salt, no acidity, and was cut so poorly that I made the joke that the cook must have forgotten his knives at home, thrown it against the wall a few times, and said, "Well, that's good enough." The shrimp was effectively a cheap riff on shrimp cocktail, if they had remembered to clean the shrimp before serving it. I've had better ceviche from Taco Bell. Granted, that was from a vagrant selling what I thought was ceviche outside Taco Bell, so take that for what it's worth. Either way, it was loads better. I hope it was fish. 2. The Al Pastor Tacos -- "Served Table-Side" When you read that something is being served table-side, you imagine someone coming out of the kitchen with beautifully marinated, succulent pork piled high on a proper trompo, topped with pineapple, slowly roasting and caramelizing away as you wait for it to be carved right there at your table. Instead, out comes a busser with a trompito, spinning a metal skewer and attempting to give the meat some sort of roasted effect with a blowtorch emblazoned with "Ace Hardware." He then passes me this metal box containing room-temperature, dry pork that tasted like it was made with a seasoning packet. Not to mention there was no practical way to eat it. You basically had to tear the meat from the skewer with your hands because the apparatus was so cumbersome. If the butter knife provided had actually been capable of cutting the meat, it would have fallen directly into my lap. It was as if they took the iconic mid-century dish made famous in Mexico City and decided to serve it à la Easy-Bake Oven. This was an absolute failure of a dish from concept to execution. 3. The Pork Fajitas We have all had and loved fajitas: sizzling meat, onions, and peppers arriving at the table still sizzling away. This was not that. This was stew meat in a puddle of broth. Soggy and overcooked, with no caramelization and barely any flavor. One Positive My brother said his pork belly tacos were nice. And honestly, that's part of what makes tonight so disappointing. We've been here several times. I genuinely liked this place. I understand that not every dish is going to be a winner, and I've certainly had meals here where I thought, "Well, I won't order that again." But tonight wasn't a matter of one disappointing dish. It was three dishes that felt like nobody involved had any respect for what they were supposed to be.
