This place is fine. We actually came here for trivia but they apparently don't do trivia anymore. They did offer us some cards against humanity cards which almost made up for the lack of trivia. The drinks are fine, they had kraken rum specials on Thursday night, not sure what different weekly specials they have. The bartenders were fine, not too friendly but made adequate drinks. I mean how hard is it to really pour a beer from a tap?!? The bartender seemed more interested in checking his cell phone than engaging in good customer service but the busser did a good job of clearing our empty glassware. Fun place to go and grabs some drinks while getting your game on. Between the classic arcade games, pool, and air hockey you would be hard pressed to not have fun. Level up has a lot to offer for a fun night out and should definitely be given a chance when thinking about going somewhere new. There are a lot of things I love about Level Up Arcade. They only opened a few days ago and I have been there spending money each of those days. The atmosphere here is just right. It's dark, but not too dark. Their game selection is decent: a nice mixture of old and new. They have most of the retro classics like Dig-Dug, Galaga, Mario Bros, Tron, etc. Their newer games have a lot of good variation. Games like: Area 51, Marvel Super Heroes, Raiden II, the Simpsons and Turtles Arcade just to name a few. Their Pinball table count is around 15 tables, probably more. I didn't count them though. My biggest complaint is that a lot of the games seem to be in very poor condition. The guns aren't calibrated right, the sticks on Marvel Super Heroes are total crap, buttons stick (or don't have the resistance you want from them). A good selection of the games and pinball tables aren't even on! I know the place just opened so I am not too upset about this- as they are likely in the process of getting everything up and running. I feel it's an issue that if addressed, will make this a respectable arcade. On the other hand, if the games are not maintained and repaired, and controls continue to be less sensitive, this place could flounder in the competition opening up in town as of late. Another thing I'm not crazy about is their Bar/Menu. The Menu is through the Maize's kitchen I believe, which is cool, but it's spendy! All sandwiches cost $9 or more. Fries and appetizers range from $4-$7 roughly. They have pizzas as well. Though to be honest I am not there to buy food. The beer selection is good. I'm always up to save a buck, so naturally I buy on the lower end of the spectrum. Pabst tall boys are $2 and MGD, as they call it, are $2.25. Their beer prices seem pretty standard. One more thing I want to mention is the staff has been very friendly and accommodating with everyone's questions and requests. Bottom line is: If you want to have some beers and play some pinball or other classic games, Level Up has a great selection to get your arcade fix. My kind of place! They almost have it all. The downfalls for me are: (1) the bartenders don't seem to give a damn about video games and the overall atmosphere somehow just seems like a bar. Even though there are tons of classic arcade games & pinball machines, somehow they fell a bit short. I think this place got started by people who don't give a crap about video games but recognized a growing interest in classic games and used it as a gimmick. That being said, they did do a pretty damn good job. (2) They don't do a very good job of upkeep with the games. there is often something wrong with a game making it very disappointing for someone who actually wanted to try their hand at a classic game like say, Donkey Kong or Dig Dug. You can't really play a game like that with a semi-malfunctional joystick, or some pattern permanently burnt into the screen. (3) The door folks have the lowly habit of ID'ing everyone, even if you're blatantly 40 or 50 etc. They try to claim it's the law which is obviously a line of BS, since most places do not have that practice... and stay open. #3 is the main reason I don't go there very much. read more

I absolutely love this place! Great games, fun vibe, and always a good time. I appreciate all the seating as well, since most barcades forget that people actually like to sit down as well as play games. I absolutely love pinball and they have a great lineup. If you like pinball, Level Up is the place to go in Eugene for newer machines (90's & up!). Level Up is my go to for bringing my out of town friends, and they always have a good time, because there are games for everyone. So they let me play pinball, while they play Mario Cart, and then we all play Killer Queen! It's a win-win! read more

Level up looks pretty cool but unfortunately I wasn't able to experience it the thursday of 6/19 at 9! I don't know if the person carding was on drugs or what but he rejected my ID because it 'felt funny', while accepting my friends who had identical oregon cards. Now my ID is completely legitimate and i'll take the manager down on a walk to the DMV if he wants to question that. So I think whoever was in charge of carding needs to be educated a little because it seems he can't tell a real drivers license from a fake one. I guess I should have appealed to the manager or something but I really don't think I should have to. The funny things is I wasn't even going to drink, just play the games lol! read more

This is one of, if not my favorite, bars in Eugene. The bartenders are absolutely wonderful. Special shout out to Chino for being incredibly nice and providing the best service of any bartender in town. I always have fun whenever I've come down and I've never had a bad time. Food is good, better than most of the typical bar food you'd see, and there's more variety than most. Plus the general clientele is pleasant-I don't ever feel uncomfortable. There's always something to do and the drinks are fair priced. This place is always my go to when I want to go out-it's at least my starting point if I do a bar crawl. It's an honestly great place. If the manager or whoever is reading this, you should give your bartenders a raise or something. They keep people coming back! read more

The concept of this place, I have to admit, is rather cool. The generation that grew up scrounging for quarters to throw down at the mall arcade for a nice game of Defender, Tron, Golden Axe, Pac Man, Vangaurd, Battlezone, etc etc. could really use a place to kick back as adults, have a beer, and be nostalgic. The problem with this place is that there are too many defects in the illusion. The lighting is all wrong for an arcade: way too brightly lit. There are too many machines that don't work, a rather jarring and disappointing thing to see when one is trying to ride the way-back machine. When I round the corner and see Tron or Centipede for the first time, I want to smile and drop a quarter in, without worrying about screen glitches or non-working buttons. I was there opening night, and have not been back since. I may go back soon just to see if they have fixed or replaced the machines that were not working properly on opening night. I don't really see the point of the DJ's to be honest. It's not a dance club. The floor is covered with video games, and the DJ's just seemed to clash with the theme more than anything else. Another thing that doesn't really fit with the theme is the location. Being on campus, most of the customers are bound to be college students. Doing a little math, a 21 year-old would be born in 1991, whereas most of the video games featured are from the 1980s. All I am saying is that these games hold no nostalgic value for the college crowd, so locating the bar so near the University might not have been the wisest move. Time will tell. If more attention was paid to fixing up the games themselves, Level Up Arcade might be more of an attraction for those of us who DO have fond arcade memories we would like to relive. read more

This place is an awesome time. I've had a lot of fun here. The staff is most of the time pretty friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. The only thing that I hate is that the pinball machines are always broken. For as much loot as you guys are bringing in you should be able to have a freaking mechanic/electrician on staff. Love this place for the selection of games, pinball machines and pool tables. The only issue I had (the last time I went anyway) was that the bartenders seemed a little off. One didn't know what a finger of whiskey meant and the other put soda water in my old fashioned. Not a huge deal, didn't spoil my experience but could use some work there. The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is pretty friendly. Looks a lot better than when it was the indigo that's for sure. They really utilized the space well. And of course they have all the classic games I grew up with not to mention about a million pinball machines! This place kicks ass. Just took a big road trip to visit all my barcades in the surrounding area. I live in Salem, so the Coin Jam is my local bar. Having said that, this place is great! They have quite a bit more floor space than the one in Salem. Plenty of games, lots of pinball and two air hockeys. They serve mixed drinks as well, which is good. Finally felt good to drink a white russian like Lebowski while I played pool. The games are dirty. The food is bad. The bathrooms are disgusting. But it all felt right for Eugene. You can tell the owner has built this place to accommodate the Eugene College Kid trash. So, it fits very well. The artwork on the walls was pretty badass too. I saw a Greedo sitting with Han Solo piece on the wall which was about the coolest thing ever. Overall, my second favorite barcade. read more

Had a couple people recommend this spot so I came here for my birthday with a few friends. Really surprised at how bad the service was from the moment we got there. Bartenders seemed tired and worn out, and the bouncer didn't even say a word to us even though we tried to be friendly and ask how his night was going. On top of that, the bouncer was really weird toward us throughout the night and wouldn't say a word to any of us; both when we came, and when we left. He watched us having a smoke before we left and continued intently watching us we got our bikes and left. No one in our party was difficult or unruly, and we even tried to be friendly to both the bartenders and the bouncer. We just came to celebrate my birthday and play some pool at a sweet video game bar we'd heard about. Only been here once, but after that experience I'm not planning on coming back anytime soon. read more

UM, Frickin sweet man. I always thought this would be a great idea. And it is. Me and my son went down to check it out and Oh boy. It totally took me back to my youth. We had the cheese pizza which was pretty good. it had a grill/bbq/slight smokeyish taste to it which i loved. My only complaint about the food is besides the salads its all hand food. Gaming and hand food not a good combo, but hey what you want. They have some pretty sweet games in there as well. some will eat your quarters, but I didn't care, because they did that when I was 12.lol. some need fixin. The wait staff could use some help. I only say this because I have culinary degree and now that a professional, up beat staff is very important. I believe the owners were there having some sort of shin dig for friends. we got there right before and it would of been nice to be greeted by them, since there new and all. But oh well. I hope this place last. Good luck gentle men. with a few more added touches, like turn up the volumes to a few of the classics so it has that arcade sound, and get a street fighter 2 cabinet.
