Their menu was above satisfactory. They had some unique options, amongst the standard. All were high quality. If you're into alcohol (my Dad and I don't have never drank alcohol, and will never) they seemed to be pretty popular in that field. It should be pretty easy to meet the stated from the get-go purchase minimum of two drinks, and two food items. Their waiters did fine, but they need to get more. I'm pretty sure the three main rows of tables, had one waiter for each row. I can only imagine how many they had for the rest of the seating areas. It had a typical bar atmosphere, slightly enhanced by some nicer tables and chairs. I'd say the inside overall didn't feel new or old, but also didn't feel rundown. It also had an intriguingly large yet intimate feel. I was a bit letdown by the crowd. It seemed as though most were here because it was something to do/somewhere to drink. There weren't "no laughs" but definitely not as many as I expected, and not as loud or hard as I expected. Overall, I was here to see and meet one of my favorite people ever. This club could've been average, and I'd have still had a great time. If I ever return, I'll reassess my thoughts and write a new review. (Or update this one...still a bit hazy on Yelp's new rules.) This club also crushed it considering it was the day after Christmas. I'd say if this is the closest location for you to see someone you LOVE, you should have a great time.

They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met. But after tonight, I have to say that the complete lack of respect shown toward the food was mind-blowing. There were three things tonight that simply could not be forgiven. 1. The Ceviche Trio The pulpo was chewy as a bouncy ball wrapped in rubber bands--completely inedible. The fish had no salt, no acidity, and was cut so poorly that I made the joke that the cook must have forgotten his knives at home, thrown it against the wall a few times, and said, "Well, that's good enough." The shrimp was effectively a cheap riff on shrimp cocktail, if they had remembered to clean the shrimp before serving it. I've had better ceviche from Taco Bell. Granted, that was from a vagrant selling what I thought was ceviche outside Taco Bell, so take that for what it's worth. Either way, it was loads better. I hope it was fish. 2. The Al Pastor Tacos -- "Served Table-Side" When you read that something is being served table-side, you imagine someone coming out of the kitchen with beautifully marinated, succulent pork piled high on a proper trompo, topped with pineapple, slowly roasting and caramelizing away as you wait for it to be carved right there at your table. Instead, out comes a busser with a trompito, spinning a metal skewer and attempting to give the meat some sort of roasted effect with a blowtorch emblazoned with "Ace Hardware." He then passes me this metal box containing room-temperature, dry pork that tasted like it was made with a seasoning packet. Not to mention there was no practical way to eat it. You basically had to tear the meat from the skewer with your hands because the apparatus was so cumbersome. If the butter knife provided had actually been capable of cutting the meat, it would have fallen directly into my lap. It was as if they took the iconic mid-century dish made famous in Mexico City and decided to serve it à la Easy-Bake Oven. This was an absolute failure of a dish from concept to execution. 3. The Pork Fajitas We have all had and loved fajitas: sizzling meat, onions, and peppers arriving at the table still sizzling away. This was not that. This was stew meat in a puddle of broth. Soggy and overcooked, with no caramelization and barely any flavor. One Positive My brother said his pork belly tacos were nice. And honestly, that's part of what makes tonight so disappointing. We've been here several times. I genuinely liked this place. I understand that not every dish is going to be a winner, and I've certainly had meals here where I thought, "Well, I won't order that again." But tonight wasn't a matter of one disappointing dish. It was three dishes that felt like nobody involved had any respect for what they were supposed to be.

Wow, so I had been promoting this place as my favorite new karaoke show, and had a couple meetings set up for last night there, and they said I couldn't come in. Of course, I asked for the reason, since I knew there wasn't really ANY valid reason for the alleged 'random complaints', and OF COURSE got no answer whatsoever. I am organizing a boycott of this business until they treat people who respect and contribute much to their business with equal respect! Update Edit: SO.. Months later I get invited there by the awesome KJ B-Ross, and told pretty much all my friends there miss me hanging out. Bouncer is so cool, well.. Anyhow, I just did one song, headed on the road, came back next week, the bouncer had a complaint "I didnt know you let bums in here". Pretty sure this is the friend of the thief who stole my longboard, and whos friends I caught red handed with my 3rd stolen backpack in Kesey, and who has been encouraging all his little gangster wanna be cronies to shout snitch at me, because I tried to summon the law when I caught the gang of them with my shit, while the punk Wes distracted me and they made off with the loot. But I could be wrong, and it might just be another bum who spends so much fucking money at this place that his word is law apparently. Good thing the management there knows what is important at a business.. The bottom fucking line, bitches! Your talent, what you add to a show, that counts for nothing at Level UP. Neither do all the friends who beg you to come back, nor the customers that you actually bring (Shit I still tell people how awesome it is to see the Warped at that bar in particular edit: he is now kicked out, which is a *shock*). I always tend to ask myself, "I don't want to be with anyone else, where am I?" Tonight I had the issue of not being able to use the bathroom. Unfortunately, I had to go to the bathroom, and I remember the day I was in the shower. This is neither here nor there. This barcade has been a long standing suitor for the past few years. I never thought of it as an idea, but I will be in the area. Sometimes I have to get a beer before work, and I don't want to come here. It is loud, and if you like playing pool, you can get cocktails. I met somebody here who was in the same area as I. They have an ATM, air hockey, and a few other things to do than hang out with the other people. It is close to other places and there are a few things that are going to be better. read more

The greater at the door checking Id's was very Unprofessional. he did not like the way that my brother and I were dressed and he decided to not let us in due to the fact of my older brother taking too much time getting his ID out of his wallet. The guy at the door checking IDs with a big red beard needs to be terminated from this establishment if he going to be discriminating people as they walk in the door. He is a racist if you were to ask anybody around at the time who saw discrimination happen. he also put his hands on me which I will be talking to my lawyer about today. It used to be alright, but the games are just in a constant state of disrepair, they'll usually refund your quarters if you ask, but when half the coin slots in the building are eating quarters and it takes 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a bartender on a slow night, it rarely feels worth the trouble. Drinks are overpriced and terrible. Customer service is severely lacking, all of the staff always seems frustrated to be there and will ignore you at the bar for ungodly lengths of time, just picking people at random to serve. With other barcade options coming up this place gets less and less appealing. read more

The Idea is great, the staff is rude. Love the games and the bar, beer selection is wonderful. Like to able to take the kids before 9, play and have a good time with them. Variety of games is cool, TV with sports is great. Parking is not great, food is abysmal, service is rude and condescending. Not a big fan of being treated like a "stupid old person" by a bunch of college drop outs. Yeah guys we know that parenting isn't "cool" no need to be jerks about it. read more

I have never been to an Arcade where you can drink beer. In fact I didn't know a place like this existed. I grew up in the 80's-90's playing Pacman, Donkey Kong, Missile Command, Joust and so on. I was in heaven when we stumbled across this place. Order a few IPA's and play Donkey Kong. How does it get any better?!?! You can't get too wild and crazy because there tends to be little ones playing games too, but it is definitely a place to try. read more

I decided to add vegan crema and non-dairy cheese for a buck. It hit the spot. I did feel like a fish out of water with all the screens showing baseball as basketball is my jam. I am a huge Warriors fan and sad we lost Donte yet he is going to the Knicks. They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met.
