I have always been a big fan of arcades going back to my childhood. I grew up hanging out at them on the weekends in my high school and college days. I am enjoying the resurgence of arcade bars here in the Valley. Since moving to Mesa, I have been making stops here at Level One Arcade Bar. I love the chill vibe and their selection of classic arcade games. Games use tokens or quarters that you can get from the token machine. Level One Arcade Bar is a two-story venue and has a wide array of pinball machines and arcade games. They opened in 2019 in Downtown Mesa and have a Valley Metro light rail stop nearby. Each floor features its own bar with each of them having around 30 beers on tap. The second level has majority of the pinball machines. You will find me playing classics like 1943, Galaga, Mortal Combat, Tekken 3, Area 51, Mario Bros and Street Fighter. I am also a big pinball junkie. They have darts here at Level One and we have had fun playing them when I have come here with groups of friends. Check out the speakeasy behind the building if you want to hang out in a cool 20s vibe atmosphere with a cocktail. It is called Alchemy 48. Under 21 is permitted with a parent or guardian until 7pm and must by supervised. Happy Hour is 3pm - 7pm Monday to Friday.

Love Leanne she's always smiling and having a great conversation! Anytime she's here I try to make it in and enjoy a few drinks! Also lots of games if that's ur thing! Food is decent for being small kitchen. Can play ur own music so thats nice as well! Days are more chill nights can get more up beat! Come check it out!

I had about an hour today before I needed to be somewhere and stopped in to check out the arcade here. They have HH here from 3-7pm and $1 off drafts. Bartender was nice and explained to me that the machines here take tokens. I got a pint of beer and then headed upstairs to play Ms Pac Man. I also made sure that this was the fast version Ms Pac Man as there is a regular version Ms Pac Man and I don't like that one. I scoped out the machine first before deciding to get a beer. The place was pretty empty when I came in and I was able to play two games of Ms Pac Man and enjoy my beer at the same time. They also put little side tables by the arcade, so you have a place to set down your drink as you play. Lots of old school video games here including Tetris and Dr Mario! I'd definitely come back again when I feel like playing a few rounds of my favorite arcade game! Parking available on the street, bathrooms located on both floors.

2 story arcade bar. We sat the level 1 bar for a while and didn't get any service but the bartender was quick to visit w her friends instead of helping us. We ventured upstairs where most of the games were. Service was quick at the upstairs bar even though I had to ask for the rainbow candy that was supposed to be in my drink. Games are 1 token except for the pinball machines, which were 4 tokens. There are other arcade bars that I would venture to and recommend due to lack of service.

You know it's going to be a legendary night when your main competition at darts is a rogue fan blowing your aim off because, apparently, even the air wants you to lose. So, there we were, bar hopping around DT Mesa like pros, when someone casually mentioned, "Hey, there's an arcade upstairs at this underground speakeasy." Challenge accepted. Now, let me tell you, playing darts after a few drinks is a whole different sport. Did we break some dart tips? Absolutely. Did my buddy somehow manage to launch darts behind the machine like some kind of ninja? Without a doubt. And yes, we definitely tried blaming the fan for our poor aim because who else can you blame when your darts have a mind of their own? It was hilarious. Meanwhile, Mike D., aka The Darts King and also Mr. Friendliest 2018 (go add him), is still sitting on his throne. Honestly, I'm getting tired of his reign. I need to snatch that crown! This spot is legit, though. They have a handful of games, a well-stocked bar, and cozy tables where you can chill. That night, there was even a nearly-wedded couple with their whole crew hanging out. Super chill vibes. Yeah, I'm coming back.

Pretty cool spot for a drink and to play some arcade games. Bartenders were friendly and so was the person who was checking ID's at the door. We hung out upstairs and the back patio. Drinks are fairly priced.

How fun is this place?! I love Mesa more and more each time I visit. This week my niece was in town and I was looking for somewhere fun I could take her. One of the great things about Level 1 is that kids are allowed on as long as they are supervised by an adult and it's before 7pm. It is a bar so the night scene is very different. There are a few arcades close to me, but there are so many more game options here and with the second level there is much to choose from. Service was great, they have an atm so you don't have to go elsewhere if you don't have cash, most games are between a quarter or a dollar. Of coming to drink there is a full bar on both levels. We had a great time. My favorite by far is the Metallica pinball or of course your old school Nintendo options like Burger Time, Excite Bike and more.

Came here to play darts and celebrate my partner's birthday. Not our first time and def not our last. Darts, shots, and some bar food. Was pleasantly surprised by the chicken quesadilla we shared (LARGE). The bartender was super sweet and overheard us talking about my boyfriend's birthday and offered him a free birthday shot which was thoughtful! Darts are great there as they have 4 individual dart boards and plenty of room for everyone to shoot. Sick pinball machines upstairs. It was about 2pm and not super busy since the night crowd wasn't quite in yet. Parking out back was still tight though. Vibes are nerdy and immaculate

We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on a Friday night. The 1st level was not very busy, so we decided to grab some drinks and food. We sat at the bar, and had to wait some time before being acknowledged, despite the fact that there were 2 to 3 bartenders at the bar. The food was great, we got the pretzel, which was surprisingly very soft and warm. The wings and the fried pb and j were also tasty. The fried pickles were over fried, so it just ended up drying them out. The place itself is very cool, lots of games to play. The service is what really put a dent in the experience. I love the flight deck I got, but it was hard to get a bartender to take our order. On top of that, they don't seem to have alot of knowledge on the beers they serve. I asked for a mix of IPAs for my flight, and the bartender seemed confused. My husband was trying to close out, and it took at least 20 to 30 minutes to even get anyone to pay attention. This place is great, but the service really needs improvement.

Cocktails tasted great my friend said and as a non cocktail drinker myself I tried the toasty one and it tasted like hot chocolate kinda liked it they have a decent size amount of pinballs but a handful don't work or a lot have stick buttons and the screens don't indicate when you've inserted coins so you kinda go threw a trust the system know there coins even if the screen doesn't change , and the top floor of the place smelled like piss. Ok spot I still think yucca tap rooms pinball area is better

Super cute bar areas throughout! Service is friendly and quick. They have darts, arcade, bar seating and patio! Even a hidden gem downstairs! . Cute lighting for photos too. Pricing for drinks is good too.

I'm pretty positive this is my new favorite place. Wish it opened up an hour earlier on weekdays but oh well. Games are great, pin ball is great. Outdoor area is great. Beer selection is more than great. Staff is nice. Food is yummy. Love being able to come here after work for a drink and some games. They have a mystery bag you Can get for 5.50 and it's gotta mystery beer and 4 tokens in it every time!

Great selection of pinball and arcade games!

Loved visiting this Arcade and Bar! We were treated so nicely by all the staff, including the door host - pictured with my review! He was so friendly and made sure we knew all the details and helped us to have a great visit. Tons of games, plenty of good food, and two stories of fun! 10/10 would recommend. We are planning our next trip to Level One for the Bloody Mary brunch - heard great things about it!

FYI--the reservation email really doesn't explain how to get in, so here's what you need to know! Go into Level 1, which is an arcade, and walk ALL the way through to the back. Go out the door to the outside patio area and you'll see a security guard. Let them know you have a reservation for Alchemy 48. Someone will come up from downstairs, get you, and take you down to the speakeasy. Then comes the riddle! Don't feel intimidated if you're not good at riddles--I stressed about this part a little bit beforehand. Don't! Just read it. She gives you a clue that basically tells you what to do, and it's super easy. TIP: Make sure you take a picture in the little riddle/entrance room because you DON'T come back through that room when you leave! We almost missed that opportunity. Once you're inside, it has a really nice, romantic speakeasy atmosphere. We loved the live jazz and really enjoyed the whole experience. It would also be so much fun to dress up a little in Prohibition-era style for the night. For drinks, I had the Neapolitan and my husband had a Manhattan. Yes, the drinks are a little strong--but isn't that how they're supposed to be in a Prohibition speakeasy? Overall, we really enjoyed Alchemy 48. It's romantic, a little different, and the hidden entrance and riddle make it more of an experience than simply going out for drinks. Definitely a fun addition to a date night! Service is a tad bit slow

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. Even on busy nights, it somehow still felt personal. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the vibe has changed quite a bit. The drinks just aren't as consistently good as they used to be, especially considering the prices now. Service feels far more transactional and impersonal, and the atmosphere that once made this place stand out has faded into something much more generic. It feels less like a neighborhood gem and more like a stop on a nightlife circuit.
