Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Cookie
    Jacqueline O.

This is my must-stop every time I'm in west loop! The peanut butter chocolate cookie is the best dessert I've ever had in my life. The staff is always super nice, good at answering questions, and super quick. Even when there's a crowd! I will say it gets packed in there and it's a small space. Not a lot of places to sit or stand after getting your order so I wouldn't plan to eat there.

How is this spot some famous bakery? I thought the chocolate chip cookie wasn't very good at all and I love chocolate chip cookies. I got the $5.75 Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. It looked fine from the outside, but it didn't taste very good. Super over priced. I don't get it.

I finally got to try Levain Bakery in Chicago! I tried their walnut chocolate chip cookie and two chocolate chip cookie. Although I'm not the biggest fan of walnuts in cookies (but love them otherwise), I still wanted to try their classic cookie. The cookies were baked well and priced the same as other higher-end cookie shops. They were yummy, but didn't blow me away. The bakery was small but clean and cute. Service was nice and quick.

I was window shopping and everything looked so good. The displays were gorgeous. The cookies look amazing. They open early and close late Please come and create your own adventure.

Great place to stop for a quick cookie! They have ice cream scoops you can add onto your cookies now. Line is out the door during peak hours! Theres a few chairs outside but it's mostly grab and go!

West loop location. Paid street parking. Nice and cute inside. I loved the blue color. We order d two cookies and a cortado. The coffee was very good and the cookie had great crunch on the edges. The middle could have been cooked a little more for me but it's not as gooey as Crumble. Overall the cookie was a large size with a good taste. I'll say a 3.75/5. I had the chocolate coconut caramel cookie and my friend had the chocolate Chip cookie. She loved the cookie. Cookies cost around 6 bucks each.

MUST stop every time I am in Chicago! Some of the best cookies - almost has a scone like texture. I am a big fan of the two chip chocolate chip and the seasonal lemon and spiced cookies. Don't discount their other items either! We loved the Turkey Cheddar sandwich and baguette with butter and jam. Shop is set up to grab and go with not much space to linger but there is a bench outside of the weather is nice.

The GF cookie was identical to the NYC location, a little dry and crumbly. Having the caramel ice cream scoop with it definitely helps. The ice cream was creamy and dare I say better than the cookie but the combo was tasty

It's a quick service cookie bakery without any place to sit. However, the display is simple, yet beautiful. It's light oak decor with an open kitchen is quite nice to all into. The display cases are simple and clear for providing you with all their options. The staff is friendly and answers all your questions. Cookies are enormous there, so paying about $6 a cookie isn't too off kilter. You get freshly baked, gooey cookies and every bite is satisfying. I ordered the cocoa peanut butter cookie a their original chocolate walnut. I ate my cookies a couple hours later and they were divine. If you eat them a day later, just warm them up on the microwave or oven, and they taste just as fresh as when you bought them. Levain is a wonderful spot to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Most people who hears chocolate cookies always think of the thin round but here are at Levain, they are like round and packed with chunks of chocolate like a crab cake. They have two locations in Chicago and across the USA. When you are so close to the bakery, I was smelling the aroma of baked cookies outside and I knew I had to come in and buy a box of cookies. Cookies are around $6 each and you can see in the glass box what they have for the day. I went with the signature cookie assortment and there was no way I can finish these cookies in a day. They suggest to put them in a air-tight container and they should last a week. Highly recommend these cookies.

We shared the seasonal cookies Dark Chocolate Peppermint & White Chocolate Macademia. Texturally satisfying - crispy and soft. Levain cookies generally are above average sweet. The white chocolate macademia was more balanced and satisfying while dark chocolate peppermint was overly sweet (as someone who has a sweet tooth) that lacked the familiar bitterness of dark chocolate. No issues with service. No tables, order to-go.

The vibe in the bakery feels polished and upscale, and the smell alone pulls you in. They offer a great variety of treats, but I came specifically for the cookies. They did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and worked quickly to keep the line moving. The cookies are thicker than your typical ones and absolutely lived up to the hype. I will definitely be back.

Levain Bakery is a MUST stop if you are visiting Chicago! Each cookies is amazing and fresh and worth its price. Super chunky and delicious. Each cookie has a unique flavor of its own. I'm addicted these cookies are just different. The store is super small and there are no spots to sit down at and no restrooms. Be prepared to take the cookies to go or grab a table outside. Expect there to be a long line this place is popular for a reason. However the staff move very quickly and swiftly and super nice. I bought 4 cookies and a slice of bread and it came out to about $45 and was WORTH IT. The quality is everything to be honest! My favorite cookies that I enjoyed every bite are listed below. I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

I went close to 2pm, so I only waited about 15 minutes for brunch, but most of the pastries and breakfast sandwiches were already sold out. *Matcha Pandan Eclair $9.5 ** The biggest éclair I've ever seen! You get a mini version on their tasting menu, but the bakery sells this full-size beauty. My favorite pastry from the haul! I loved the crunch from the toasted genmai and the light pandan whipped cream. I just wish the matcha flavor was stronger. *Black Truffle Croissant $16 * Every bite was packed with black truffle flavor, and with fresh shaved black truffle, truffle oil, and a premium truffle filling, I could see why it costs $16. You also get a mini version on the tasting menu. But I wasn't a fan of the crunchy pearl sugar on top. I ended up shaving it all off. *Ube & Huckleberry Basque Cake $9 Loved the little powdered sun stencil inspired by the Philippine flag. It was filled with ube pastry cream and huckleberry. Personally, I found the filling too sweet for my liking. *Filipino Breakfast $20 ** I originally wanted their signature longanisa breakfast sandwich, but it was sold out, so the staff recommended this instead. Best recommendation ever, I even thanked them before I left! Every component was so thoughtfully done, especially the meats. Now I need to come back for the tasting menu. *Oh, Hot Yam $6.85 ** Hands down the best ube latte I've had. After my two-hour wait, I was told at the register that the black truffle croissant was sold out. However, I kept seeing fresh trays of them being brought out--presumably to fulfill online orders. It was incredibly disappointing to wait that long outside only to miss out on a signature item that was in front of my eyes. Breakfast Sandwich-- Loaded with longanisa, hash brown, eggs, and cheese. The eggs were incredibly fluffy, the longanisa was juicy and flavorful, and the hash brown was super crispy and golden brown (no white interior to be seen) I tried the ube and huckleberry basque cake, matcha pandan eclair, and foie gras danish. The basque cake was the standout pastry-- moist with crisp edges and a beautiful blend of flavors. The Kaffe Calamansi and Manila Fog featured incredibly unique profiles and disappeared in minutes.
