I honestly think Robert does a very poor job working for this location. Everytime I go here is like if he almost push me away like he wouldn't want to sale me. One time I saw him making weird faces behind me. Everytime I ask him something he answers with really dumb things that I almost want to walk away. One time I took a water test he threw the water away and didn't eve say I'm sorry. I think this guy is hurting the company sometimes I will make like a 1000 or 2000 purchase and he almost push me away to not buy here. Maybe he has issues. Never have I been more disappointed in a shopping experience. As a loyal customer of 12 years I have spent thousands of dollars at this store. On June 7th that all changed as I was literally scolded by the young representative who tested my water because I added chemicals an hour before. Instead of kindly advising me about not adding chemicals before a test he threw the test on the counter and said I was wasting his time and mine. Walked into the store they had no liquid chlorine the two associates working here on Friday June 24 both associates did not know what was going on would not pick up the phone to call anybody to see what other store had it. Twice I've received EXCEPTIONAL service from Ben, the assistant manager. I was desperate after spending nearly 3K on a new pool system and pump only to find that our pool was still green and cloudy even though our chlorine levels were high and the Ph was fine. Ben took his time - both times - to calmly and in layman's language explain to me what could be going on and provided me with recommendations using a brand named Natural Chemistry - first using the ClearAid and then No Phosphates (as our pepper tree is continuously dumping flowers and tiny leaves into our pool). Our pool now looks amazing!! I am so impressed by his knowledge and helpful attitude, that even though the San Marcos location is technically closer to my house, I will from here on out go out of my way to go to the Escondido store so I can talk to Ben and have him analyze our water. Leslie's is our local pool supply store here in Escondido. The first time I came was to buy some fun toys for the pool. I came back again because some family members of mine were requesting items to be shipped overseas because they couldn't find it for their pool where they live. It was convenient because everything they needed they already had in stock like the pump and the pool filter. I replaced my pump motor and I noticed a leak at the bottom of the pump. After describing the problem to Brian, he said it was most likely the pump shaft seal. He looked up my pump and of course, there was more than one seal listed. We looked at both of them and I bought the one that looked like it had the correct shaft size. He gave me very clear instructions and some tips to fit the new seal. Unfortunately when I went to seat the new seal, the part that presse3s into the pump housing was too small. No fault of Brian as we guessed which one was correct. I went back to the store, this time with the pump part that the seal goes into. Again Brian helped me. Since I had the pump part, Brian went in back and figured out what was the correct part. Of course, it was different from both the seal chart and the parts diagram from Jandy. In any case, he found the correct parts. I think it may have had to get the parts from 2 different seal kits. Brian then took my part and the seal kit and without my having to ask, went beyond the normal parts sale and installed the seal in my pump housing THANK YOU!!! I am glad he installed the part, as Brian with the proper tools made sure it was installed perfectly. I doubt that I could have done it as well at home. I took the housing with the now installed part back home, reassembled my pump and NO LEAKS Thank you Brian read more

Most of their staff are helpful and have good attitude every time I purchase using their curbside service except for one named Brian who unfortunately is the store manager per his badge. When I called and I said I wanted a curbside service his tone changed and made it sound like I was asking for a special service so I asked if they still offer it and he said yes. When I told him I was parked outside, again with an unfriendly voice he told me I will have to wait because he is with a customer. I told him it's not a problem, I will just wait. When he came out to get my card and deliver the boxes, he was rude - he just took my card and you can feel the poor customer service vibe he exudes while doing his job, as if he hated doing his job. Very unfortunate that this man is the store manager, they have 2 other regular staff that are more deserving in my opinion based on customer service! read more

We decided to paint our pool. Everyone knows it is a tough job but Leslie's talked us through it with the right products and our pool turned out to be fantastic looking. It is like night and day. We used the Dura Seal Blue Heaven on our plaster pool. I also decided to take a chance and primer and paint our faded pool slide. What a difference. It look brand new. I took before and after photos and showed them to the staff at Leslie's Pool. They were just as thrilled that their products worked as good as they said they would. While draining the pool it was recommended to use Scale;e Be Gone to clean the tiles. Oh my did this reduce our cleaning time tremendously. It also saved me from excess manual labor. I recommend consulting the professionals before starting this project on your own. read more

I got exceptional service from ERIC. I walked into the Escondido store as always to find him going out of his way for every person who walks in that store. This time however, he was multi tasking helping four of us and answering phones, truly amazing and professional. As usual he tested everyone's water and dropped his knowledge on us. I spent nearly $300 on chemicals and during his barrage of questions he also sold me a new pool heater and saved me hundreds of dollars. He even called me after hours from his sons event to solidify the deal. I hope Leslies appreciates this individual because he is the face of that business and represents you well!!! I have used Leslies in Esco. for all of my pool & spa needs for the last 6 years, spending a large amount of money in this store. Had a yellow algae problem. They recommended a "copper" product and said it would eliminate and deter it from coming back. After using 1/2 the bottle with no change, and using it exactly as the instructions said, I went back to the store for a water test and to let them know this does not seem to be doing anything. They told me water chemistry is fine and to continue using the rest and it will clear up. Didn't work. I went back to the store and spoke with the manager Brian and asked for a refund of this product. He told me he couldn't do that because he could not verify I used it properly, even though I had the empty bottle with me and noted in sharpie the date and amount I used. I don't mind paying for a product that works but spending $30 on something that does not work is not acceptable to me. The $30 they would not refund will lead to hundreds they will loose because of not standing behind the products they sell as I will never return to a leslies pools again...anywhere. If I am ever asked about a good local pool store in the future this chain is one I will not recommend. On top of that the manager Brian needs to take a course in customer service as he appears to not have a clue. It is apparent he is not happy with what he is doing. I did find a great pool store on east valley parkway. People are nice and helpful and their pricing is a lot better. I would steer clear of leslies unless you want a bad experience !! read more

First, let me say that this review could have been 5 stars. The information they provided me was spot on. I came in because my pool was not keeping chlorine. I went through all of the usual steps making sure that my water was in balance, but still the chlorine was disappearing. It turns out that the way I was chlorinating wasn't right. Thanks guys for pointing that out and recommending a solution. Things are better now. My beef was the manner in which the store manager (he made a point to make sure I knew who he was) let me know I was chlorinating incorrectly, essentially making me sound like an idiot for not knowing better. He even went so far as point it out to his colleague: "hey Joe, guess how he's adding chlorine..." . A few chuckles between them over the idiot who didn't know that putting chlorine tablets in the strainer basket of the pump was ineffective and potentially damaging his equipment. If that's what you need to do to make yourself feel significant, I'll play along. But let's keep something in perspective. I'm smart enough to have gotten to a place in life where I own a house with a pool. You work in a pool store. Do you really want to go there? read more

Good advice was given regarding our spa. Eric Cole assisted us in choosing the correct products for really sanitizing our spa, hose and jets. We forgot about our spa when the weather got cold and bacteria and slime formed. Simply emptying the spa water one time and cleaning it with fresh water from the hose was NOT going to cut it! We knew we needed a new filter but before we even installed it, Eric advised us to buy PURGE and let the PURGE dissolve the slime and other gunky stuff that formed inside the jets and hoses. And to empty the spa again and refill. Now our spa and water is crystal clear and most important, safe for use. Lesson learned: keep up with spa maintenance and test water on regular basis. Best service ever! I live in Poway and this is the best store in North County for knowledgeable employees and great advice. They recommended a great automatic pool cleaner (Zodiac MX8) that I have been very happy with for years now and when I took it in last week for repair, Eric gave it a tuneup with some terrific new features and no charge for labor and didn't try to sell me more than what it actually needed. I had his undivided attention, unlike other places where they're constantly taking phone calls and talking to other people and don't seem to care - what a refreshing experience in today's world. Nice clean store, great selection and prices, join their mailing list for special coupons. I really can't recommend them more highly. There are other stores a little closer to my house but for my dollar, it's well worth driving an extra couple minutes to go to this Leslie's on Center City Parkway to speak with people who actually know what they're doing and care about the customer. read more

We first heard about this Leslie location when some friends of ours told us they'd been going there for a long time and had always had a good experience -- and on top of it, their autistic son is obsessed with pool vacuums and he often liked to go and just look around and ask questions and they were always very nice to him and knew him by name. Come on -- that's straight up awesome customer service and just plain kindness. So, when we got our first pool a few days later, we went here and asked for Vince, who was one of the great employees that our friends mentioned by name. At this point, both my husband and I have been into the store multiple times with newbie questions, algae emergencies, and general confusion about what on earth we are doing. Vince has stood out as always knowing the answer to our questions, always having enough time to really help us out, and always making sure we are taken care of. He's representative of the experience we've had with the other employees, too. I guess their prices are a little higher than what we've found at Wal-mart and online -- but we've messed up so many times with anything we've saved on that it's cost us time and money in the long run. However, even when we just call with a question about something and the guys at Leslie don't stand to make a direct sale from our call, they always take the time to help us out. I really like coming to this store - I enjoy Eric's patient explanations, & the clipped British accent of their local linguist is always a pleasure. I feel supported in my pool adventure, and I am confident they wouldn't ever knowingly steer me wrong or over-sell products to me. The only reason the review isn't five star is that the location is often packed, so there can be wait times, as nearly every customer requires guidance and has many questions. He walk me through a step by step on how to maintain my pool and gave me honest, helpful advice. I had just purchased a pool pump and filter from Leslie's for over 2500.00 dollars and received 65 in bonus dollars, great right. A week later I went in to the store to talk about a new pool light and they ordered one for me for around 703.48, they did use my bonus dollars and that brought it down some, after I got home I went online and found that same light for 499.00 dollars, I cancelled my order and was refunded my money, except the bonus dollars, I was told they could not be refunded or returned to my account. I was not a happy camper and will not use this establishment any longer. read more
