I was at this store to get some lava rock that I wanted to hand pick. No problem. They sent us out to the area and within 30 seconds Anthony paged someone to help us. Rob came over and he stayed with us the entire time digging through the bins to get the larger rocks that I needed. 50 rocks or so later he loaded everything up, weighed them and loaded my car with much care. I do recommend RCP block for homeowners to buy landscape materials. I was totally happy until the very end when I returned the pallet. This is when the guy unloaded the pallet. He threw it down and it landed flat on the concrete making the efn loudest crack sound that I am sure may have damaged my hearing and at the very least gave me a headache for my otherwise pleasant evening. Please tell your workers to calm don a little and be respectful . read more

Homeowner here whose been working with this location over the years as we transform our back yard's hill into a terrace. Everyone from this location has been helpful and friendly. I love that they save my past order history, this has made it so easy to re-order during our project because we've gone months, sometimes a year between orders (We've really been dragging our feet LOL). Their show room is large and consists of everything from the walls of the parking lot, to the patio you walk across to enter the building. Their yard is gigantic and holds a lot of materials... which brings me to my final point, we never had to wait more than a couple days to get rock and block. What a great team of management and staff! Russ, the manager, embodies the best customer service I've ever come across. We were tackling a retaining wall project. It started with the person at the counter, who helped determine all of the materials I would need to build the wall. They were so detailed in which blocks to use and all other materials to complete the project. They had everything gathered up for the builder to pick up. Unfortunately, I picked entirely the wrong builder. He flaked out consistently, and ultimately, we realize he didn't even know what he was doing. I was in a panic and called Russ and told him we needed to switch builders, but I didn't even know what materials the current guy had picked up and what was still at RCP. Russ took the project over, did an assessment and made sure that builder no longer picked up anything from my order. I then switched over to a new builder and Russ made sure he had the proper invoices so he knew exactly what he was picking up to finish the job. To go above and beyond in that capacity was so impressive. I have always relied on RCP for do it yourself projects and will continue to rely on them as we work on our property. I have never experienced staff that is completely USELESS! I've been here a couple times looking for firebrick, turns out I purchased the wrong one. First, to make a return I let them know in the office why I was returning the firebrick. I was told to drive to the yard, unload and have an employee give me a receipt. I did that and stood around waiting for help. There was at least 10 employees by the shed just standing there stuck to their phones. They even had a bonfire going! They all just kept looking away as if waiting for someone, anyone but them to help me. I finally flagged a guy down, he takes forever to get to me because he can't walk, he has drive his forklift to me, even though I'm about 15 feet away. I tell him why I'm there. He leaves because he doesn't have a pen or paper to write me a receipt. At this point what should have been a simple return turns into the most complicated thing for them. I just proceed to unload the brick myself because I don't want to be here any longer! I then have to drive back to the office and show them the receipt and they finally give me my refund. It only took the guy at the register like 15 minutes to figure it out! The whole time I'm standing there waiting for my refund all the other workers behind the desk are talking about their dating life loud enough that I can hear! Wow!! RCP where do you find these workers? I have never encountered such useless people! I will never return to this place. I will gladly pay more for any products in the future just to avoid this place. read more

We spent over a thousand dollars with them and ordered brick from a display they had. We assumed when we placed the order we would get the brick we pointed out and asked for. We verified the order on the order sheet. When it arrived to our home all the order brick on the pallets were the light color. We got multiple colors in our shipment and they told us that's just how it come. They displays are inaccurate and do not show the product you will actually get and they are rude. I am definitely not returning. Even just listening to someone's concerns goes a long way or acknowledging frustration and this wasn't done. read more

Don't know what other reviewers are talking about. Got ALL our questions answered and also a quote for the product needed. Told us about an upcoming sale and also delivery schedule. Information was very thorough and the office staff also helped us make an informed decision on what product to go with. All in all we are happy we came here as they are saving us about $600 on the front wall we are building. They also sell individual blocks and layers as opposed to another places "Pallet Only" rule. I'd tell you to make sure you check these guys out before making a final decision as they can save you some money on certain products. Do your homework and make an informed decision. This is the place to go for all your backyard stone needs. We wanted to build a patio in our backyard by using patio pavers but the selection at Lowes and Home Depot were expensive and bland. Our contractor told us about this place and we were surprised that not only were their pavers better quality but cheaper than Lowes and Home Depot. One thing to note is that they really don't have Sales Associates helping customers every step of the way. They seem to cater to contractor or people who know what they are doing. They have a solid selection of pavers, blocks for retaining walls and several samples of loose gravel. They also have a few locations throughout San Diego. I am happy we found them. read more

I am pleased to say Jeff at RCP in Escondido is exceptional at his job. He helped my friend and I problem solve a confusing mystery of "identifying the pavers in the picture". Together, we solved the mystery, the contractor had selected the wrong pavers to match the current backyard hardscape pavers. Jeff was very, very helpful uncovering the caper and then proceeded to help us select samples of the correct pavers to take back and compare to the backyard. In addition Jeff, helped my friend and I design an edging trim, short wall. There are many sample displays and altogether we had a very productive experience with Jeff and RCP. Enter on Mission, exit on Metcalf. The staff are great and get stuff done fast, they pump through the long lines like champs. Their selection of bricks and stones is second to none, they have always had what I needed in the amount I needed. They have parking bumpers too. Pricing is great too. read more

We needed about 3 tons of stone/pebble and ended up looking here at the suggestion of a neighbor. The guys working there couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. One of them walked around with us as we looked and told us pricing info per the bag/yard depending on how each type was sold. We found exactly what we were looking for and while we could have probably gotten basic rock from Lowe's or Home Depot for less, we would have been settling as they just don't have the same selection. They delivered it for us on the day we asked, at the time we asked and instead of just dumping it all in 1 pile, he spread it along the length of the area we needed it for which made spreading it out so much easier. read more

Lies!! Product we bought was fine! Contractor we meet there was excellent, Ben B. The lady behind the counter we ordered from, lady is a real stretch! We ordered 7 pallets. Five for what we thought we needed to do job, and one extra In case we decided to add a couple of areas, and if there were some broken in shipping. The counter person, told us that we should order one extra pallet, because we were buying it local, Riverside County, Eldorado Stone.com., and they were one of the few supplier that would take back what we didn't-need. So of course we said fine, let's get 7. The job is done, and looks really good!! Ben, our contractor, was great! He called R C P to pick up the left over stone and was told , "We have a no return policy". OMG, Needles to say, I was a bit pissed off!! I told Ben that Sue and I would go and talk to the sales woman and take care of the problem. We went to RCP to confront her and was met with verbal hostility. I asked her to look me in the eye, and asked her if she had told us to get extra because it was returnable. She outright lied to my wife and I, in front of her two superiors, and said no she did not say That!! I almost lost it!! My wife had to get me out of there! I could not believe that her boss told us she had worked for 13 years, and they believed her! She outright lied to,Me, my wife , and our contractor. This is total B S and really needs to be dealt with! I have been a customer there Sense the 80's!! Never again!! The Store employees and local management at the Escondido office of RCP is beyond belief ! I am a retired owner of a large Local Dairy, Golden Arrow Dairy, and in my day, the Customer was always right!! When we replaced a bad bottle of milk the customer left out of the refrigerator and it spoiled, we replaced it and were apologetic to the customer. RCP Block & Brick has a great selection for contractors and people who are okay over-paying for things that you could get from another home improvement store. We went here to check out their pricing for some patio pavers and we weren't too impressed with the place. First, to get someone to help is kind of a pain. I was expecting someone to walk us around to look at the different types of stone. Instead we talked to someone at the counter who looked bored and indifferent. He did give us pricing on everything that we asked about, so I can say that our questions were answered. Second, nothing at this place actually has a price on it. Yes, I know that this is an industrial/construction supply business, but nothing in the store had a price. Gloves display, no price. Tile/marble/stone sealant, no price. Hand compactor, no price. I don't even know if that is legal, but that was what I saw there and it was kind of weird and shady. Third and lastly, after sub-par service we went to home improvement store and found the exact pavers we were quoted for $0.25/ea cheaper. read more

Buyer beware!!! purchased 7 pallets of retaining wall stone that they delivered. When I took back 8 blocks and 3 empty pallets the yard person was very critical with any dirt on the block and did not give me credit for only 5 block. Because 1 of the pallets did not have RCP stamped on the side they would not give me any credit. I explained that these were the pallets that the stone was delivered on. It did not matter NO credit. The young man behind the counter did not say very much and was RUDE!!! read more

After ripping up my backyard I lugged an existing border stone with me to Home Depot and Lowes. With no avail I was convinced the border stone was extinct since it was so old. I stumbled across RCP and very kind man came out to my car to see my possible fossilized stone. He replied "oh.... yeah I have that!". I was in a little bit of disbelief as he walked me over to the stones. Another pleasant man helped me load up my beauties and away I went to reinvent my backyard.
