Friendly and helpful service for DIY and processional landscapers alike. This is a good place if you're looking for basic rocks and flagstone for home projects. Most of their common landscaping stones are prebaged or can be custom bagged if you require a unique stone size or color. They also do much larger sizes of bulk rock if you require that. - If you want to avoid the morning rush, come after 10 am. - Many flagstone options. - May not have the best selection of boulders. - Check their website for holiday deals. They had 10% off during Memorial Day weekend.

Red staining from desert gold DG when hit with water overflow.

Horrible customer service!!!Had a big issue with the desert gold DG purchased from them last July in which red staining appeared everywhere water interacted with the DG and my yard looked like garbage. Initially a Southwest Boulder rep came to the house to take samples and pictures. He agreed it looked bad and had no qualms that Southwest Boulder would give me more DG AND pay for my contractor's time for reinstall. Now the manager there, named Randy, calls me with a very defensive and aggressive tone saying all he'll offer is 1 yard of DG (not nearly enough) and also NOT pay for the reinstall. He just kept cutting me off when I asked if he'd seen the pictures or talked to the other rep. Wouldn't have a decent conversation with me. Now my yard looks HORRIBLE!! Basically they want me to pay again and they won't try to rectify the problem caused by their subpar product.

Amazing experience at Southwest Boulder and Stone this morning! Ashlee knew the prices by memory of every product we asked about, and they pulled item after item down with a forklift just so we could feel it, see it and even walk on it. Then they sent us home with generous samples and exact printed estimates so we could decide at home. We have used other companies for rock in the past, but we'll be sticking with Southwest from here on out. Great prices, great variety of products and great experience!

We were redoing our yard and looked online and then in person at 2 businesses that sold pebbles and crushed stone. We were SUPER-IMPRESSED with all the staff we interacted with. Ashlee was our first phone contact who did great PR for the company. Daniel and Greg were wonderful! Daniel informed us by phone of the available discounts we could use. I complimented them on their blue-green logo tee shirts, and Greg dug into a box and gave us one!! The stones were delivered yesterday and the delivery guy, Jeff, made every effort to unload the HUGE bags on the pallets as far into our carport as possible. The pebbles and stones are now beautifully spread over our raised flower beds and look FABULOUS! We highly recommend Southwest Boulder and Stone!

Less than mediocre service, decent selection, moderate to high moderate cost in comparison to others, and limited knowledge employees.

A special thank you to Codie and the entire landscaping crew - truly are the best services I have ever had done with my home. Codie took the time to understand exactly what I was trying to accomplish with my backyard and made sure every detail was handled correctly. The landscaping crew was equally impressive--professional, hardworking, respectful of my property, and incredibly meticulous with the placement and installation of every plant. You could tell they genuinely cared about how the finished project looked, not simply about getting the job done. The end result exceeded my expectations. They helped transform my backyard into something I had envisioned for a long time, and seeing it finally come together has been incredibly rewarding. They truly helped make my backyard a dream. I sincerely appreciate Codie and the entire Moon Valley team for the pride they took in my project and the quality of service they provided. When someone treats your home and landscaping as if it were their own, that deserves recognition. For anyone in San Diego looking for professional nursery, planting, or landscape installation services, I would recommend Moon Valley Nurseries without hesitation. Based on my experience, Codie and this team set the standard for what professional landscaping service should look like. Thank you again, Codie and crew, for an outstanding job and for helping turn my vision into reality.

Instead, a salesperson claiming to be a landscape designer aggressively misrepresented what a 'DigAlert' ticket covers. He claimed running their own report after I described one already done by 811, granted them authority to plant seven large tree root systems directly inside a high-voltage and high-pressure natural gas public utility corridor, in direct violation of San Diego Municipal Code safety separation buffers TREE PLANTING AND STAKING SDL-101ATTACHMENT 13. https://www.sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/legacy/publicworks/pdf/edocref/standarddraw/2015standarddrawings/sdl/sdl-101.pdf. This "landscape designer" sugggested that Palo Verdes were the best trees and that they had zero root problems that may interfere with the FIVE underground utilities running on my property that included gas, electric, drainage, AT&T, and Charter Communications. Quite the contrary: Palo Verdes grow up to 25 feet wide and just as tall. My lot is 5500 sf in a tract home community that sits on an easement as a major public right of way. This predatory trade practice shifts massive structural liability onto an unsuspecting homeowner and his outright lies just to get a sale were outright shameful. STAY AWAY from dishonest businesses like this. I called Anderson Nursery right after and they said they've never tell a homeowner to do such absurd thing. Obviously.

What a gem to find this family owned nursery in the heart of Poway!…read more The nursery is MASSIVE! I could spend hours here looking at all the different plants, trees, and flowers. They have an extensive selection to choose from and if you don't find what you're looking for, they will help you find it. Their prices may be a little higher for some items compared to corporate stores like Home Depot but the quality justifies the price. For some other things, they are actually the lowest price. The nursery is clean and organized with plenty of workers to help assist you with picking something out, answering any questions, or helping you load things into the car. I was in and out within 15 minutes! The parking lot is plentiful so no issues there. For parents of little ones or those who love watching mini trains, they have a huge mini train track set up outside in the back by the bonsai trees. A fun and free entertainment to keep your kids occupied while you shop. We bought an apple tree so hope it's fruitful (crossing fingers)!

I feel that the higher prices are justified based on selection and the customer service

We have been working with Nathan at Moon Valley Nurseries for about four months now and cannot say…read moreenough good things about him. We came in at the very beginning of landscaping a new build, which meant a blank slate and a lot of questions. Nathan took the time to walk us around the yard, show us what was available, and give us real options instead of just pointing at whatever he wanted to move that day. He was genuinely knowledgeable about the plants, what they would do in our space, and what made sense for the look we were going for. He was also friendly and understanding about our budget and our timeline, which we appreciated. We started with a variety of plants to get the project going, and we have gone back several times since for trees and shrubs. Every visit has been the same experience: good advice, no pressure, and someone who clearly enjoys what he does. Great guy to work with. If you are planning a landscape project, ask for Nathan.

FYI - If you want them to have access to what you have submitted online - you have to sign up for the promotional texts, same goes for the emails. I get a text message the same day asking me to buy something. I responded asking about the quote...nothing. I called in asking about the quote since there was no response and the gentleman on the phone was very nice and respectful. He explained that all of the submissions from potential clients go to a call center and just tend to "get lost in the oblivion". (Great. Glad some strange place had all that info I submitted.) He was able to access my name and that was it. Again, when they tell you they need you to give them permissions so that they can access what you submitted in order to help you, know that is incorrect and it's just a marketing technique to capture your information with your own permission. As NONE of the pictures or the request that I submitted were available to him. He apologized and asked me to text him with my request. I did so. I did not hear anything back so I followed up again. The gentleman seemed engaged at the time which was promising, and asked if we had a contractor or if they needed to quote all of it. I informed him we didn't have a contractor. Then the conversation went cold and no response for another day. Then I receive an email that asked me to schedule a consultation and to meet my landscape designer. Seriously? Was this a joke? No quote attached. Nothing. I replied to the email asking if there was supposed to be an attached quote - nothing. Well, I took a screenshot of the email and text it to the guy that hasn't made up his mind to whether or not my backyard is worth a quote, and asked him if it was supposed to be attached. Crickets. I responded later in the afternoon and again, nothing. Looking at the reviews, unfortunately it seems as if a lot is going on with this company at the moment. (Which may be the reason for the lack of interest in assisting?) I probably should have just read some of the more recent reviews. I called the company that is literally down the road from me. Not as convenient as I had anticipated. It's just a quote my guy. Just a quote. Like I said, I provided everything, just needed to know what would be charged to do it. Now to figure out how to revoke the permissions given to them to advertise and hopefully get a quote from another company.
