The delivery lady was amazing, she placed the products in such precise manner on our drive way! Last week I needed a little mulch only and didn't want to order delivery as the Growers mulch is only 10 bucks per yard. My husband and kids went to get a yard of it by bringing huge totes ordered online and then stuffed the totes into our minivan since we don't own a truck. We terraced a hill, trenched new sprinkler lines, tilled the roots, and then removed a lot of soil after grading the land.... Basically, we performed a lot of prep work before ordering our topsoil. I was overly pleased on the quality of the top soil we received. Our tall fescue lawn grew from seed very well. Ordering our load of top soil was a breeze. I drove over, but probably could have just called. I told the ladies at the desk how much I needed and set up a delivery date. The day of delivery went smooth. It was a shock what 20 cubic yards looks like when it arrives in your drive way. The driver did an exceptional job of dumping the topsoil so that it didn't push into my garage doors or spill over into the yard. Ordering, delivery and quality were all outstanding. This was my first time buying a large amount of soil and compost for a new raised bed. I used the layered method. (hugelkultur) I first used wood, then compost then soil. This was easy and cheaper then buying all the bags at the store. It felt like it would have been a million trips. The driver was a pro and placed it in my driveway like I asked. This place is quite interesting, with a surprising selection of any kind of mulch, soil, compost, topsoil, DG, fill dirt, fertilizer and pumice you might need. They have a nice website with good information and a calculator to determine how much product you might need and they deliver. To be transparent, we had a small customer service issue in the beginning. It was corrected immediately by Rick, the VP of Sales & Ops. He took a situation and made a happy, satisfied customer out of us, enough for us to write this review! We are quite pleased with the soil, the dairy compost and the California native shredded cedar mulch for our container garden. Purchased: 47 yards of mulch 20 yards gold DG 6 yards ATS This is for a full backyard remodel project. SPVS was very easy to deal with and had great customer service. Delivery was really easy and everything showed up same day and dumped in the spots I had designated for staging. The CA Native mulch is VERY CHEAP ($6 a yard), and it retains a TON of water once spread. Great stuff and looks attractive on the ground. For those complaining of "trash" in the CA Native...chill out. You know how absolutely impossible it would be to pick thru every single inch of the amount they have there looking for non organics? I'm sure they do their best. Hey....I found a stretch Armstrong head in my delivery and it was rad. Turned into a treasure hunt. It's $6 a yard...quit complaining. The DG is just DG. But can't beat the price. The ATS (amended topsoil) was recommended from American Sod Farms next door to SPVS as a prep soil for 1100sqft of TifTuff Sod we installed. I laid down 4" of the ATS and the turf absolutely loves it. Very healthy growth, fully established and seam free in about a week. Grass is super healthy due to the ATS. Great product. So disappointing! I purchased 3 yards of Mulch from San Pasqual Valley Soils and there was so much trash. This was trash just taken from the top layer. I called and talked with Carlos. I explained what I had. He didn't seem surprised. When I continued to say their website says they have clean mulch, he blamed Gardeners. Gardeners put trash in the waste containers ,he continues. He thought offering me more of the same mulch was a good gesture. Seriously! Go somewhere else. read more

They are SO FAST. I spoke to Val for 15 min., and my soil & mulch was delivered within an hour. She was very patient and knowledgeable. She took the time to confirm some raised garden math for me, answered my questions, etc. I was previously set on working with another company, but they failed to get my order on the delivery schedule (I was on a time crunch and needed to work around my work schedule so I planned to have it delivered on a specific day and they never put my order through). I have been purchasing soil from San Pasqual Valley soils. This year we bought the Raised Bed Mix for our planter boxes. It has been cloudy and rainy in San Diego all year so it's been a slow growing season. We transplanted corn, zucchini, squash, lettuce, kale, tomatoes and peppers 3 weeks ago. I needed some soil for raised beds, and was delighted that San Pasqual Soils delivered. While most of the employees I met were generally friendly, the soil I received is very sandy and not as rich as I was hoping for. I also found several pieces of broken glass in the soil. I've been purchasing mulch and compost from San Pasqual Valley Soils for 2 years now. I spread their Cal Native mulch around my plants to inhibit weeds and to retain the moisture in the soil. The mulch contains a fair amount of compost too, which the plants seems to love. Another benefit of using their compost is the worm population has exploded. They sell the compost by the cubic yard, so bring a pickup truck or trailer. My Ford Ranger holds one cubic yard. They also deliver for a fee. Last year they dropped 100 cubic yards on my driveway and I rented a tractor with a bucket to spread it around my property. They also sell bark and wood chips by the cubic yard. Prices are very cheap. A cubic yard of mulch or compost typically costs about the same as one or two small bags from H.D. Lastly, you can dump greenery such as tree and bush trimmings for a fraction of what Edco charges. They don't accept Palm branches because the fibers jam up their shredding machine. My only complaint, is they are not open on the weekend. read more

Update to the review below. The owner contacted me on yelp, sincerely apologized for their employees actions and state that they would have a "VERY, serious discussion" with them. I really appreciated this. Whoever this company driver was on W. Field Parkway in Escondido at 9 AM this morning, they should consider using a different driver. There was a major accident on the freeway and everyone was merging into lanes politely and courteously someone let me in and this driver sped up to cut me off then when they could not they slammed on their brakes and then once they pulled up beside me the started shouting obscenities and calling me a dumb f*** etc.. Regardless of whether you're working with a customer on a job or you're just in transit, employees actions speak for the company especially in a logo vehicle and this employees actions were discussing. read more

I purchased 10 yards of topsoil 50/50 to reseed a small lawn. My only complaint was there was a lot of rock that had be to raked out. 1", 2" and even some 3". I filled up buckets of rock and my lawn mower is still finding them. read more
