First they ask you where your local store is based on zip code. I put that in, got my local store. But then I was been asked for a password for an account I don't have. Can't register for an account online either; it keeps telling me nope, I'm registered, but there's no way to recover my password or get a new one. It just goes in an endless loop of "NO". Not a user-friendly site. Today, Sat. Feb. 13, I tried to put in an order via San Carlos Hardware, but they told me they can't do that and I should call Moosa, so I tried to call. I got a message saying they were closed - for the CHRISTMAS holidays! Uh, I know COVID has blurred a lot of stuff, but I still know what month it is. And if I were running a business I'd sure update my phone message more often. I hate to give them 3 stars, but their customer service both online and by phone is pretty nonexistent.

We have been working with Nathan at Moon Valley Nurseries for about four months now and cannot say…read moreenough good things about him. We came in at the very beginning of landscaping a new build, which meant a blank slate and a lot of questions. Nathan took the time to walk us around the yard, show us what was available, and give us real options instead of just pointing at whatever he wanted to move that day. He was genuinely knowledgeable about the plants, what they would do in our space, and what made sense for the look we were going for. He was also friendly and understanding about our budget and our timeline, which we appreciated. We started with a variety of plants to get the project going, and we have gone back several times since for trees and shrubs. Every visit has been the same experience: good advice, no pressure, and someone who clearly enjoys what he does. Great guy to work with. If you are planning a landscape project, ask for Nathan.

Patrick came over last month and helped us plant both trees and gave us some awesome tips on upkeep. For the Meyer tree he suggested a nitrogen-rich fertilizer and a well-draining acidic soil. We went with an organic soil from Kellogg Gardens, and added Perlite as he suggested. The tree seems happy and we're seeing about a 4 inch growth already. For the Bougainvillea, he suggested planting in the ground. We dug a hole twice as wide as the root ball, left the plant in its original plastic grow pot, and just cut off the bottom and slashed the sides. Moon Valley and Patrick's attentive service and help really has brought our little patio garden to life.

Our plants were not as ordered and arrived strapped to a flat bed truck after we were assured they would be delivered in a box truck to protect the plants. Wish I could give this one 10+ stars…read more First, the owner is one of the most knowledgeable in the business I've ever met. He and his family have owned and operated in the valley for several years and are well informed on all SD agricultural issues: water, disease, pesticides.... He helped me pair the right plants together and spent a lot of time "instructing" me on handling and care. Really appreciated that. Second, it's a local business that specializes in drought and small animal-resistant plants. They have other properties in the area, and many plants growing off-site, or behind the main area - if you don't see what you're looking for, ask - they may have it. Third, I purchased my entire 1st garden here - about 120 plants. In spite of my baby green thumb, most of my plants survived, thrived and arrived pest and disease-free. Fourth, the local water district STINKS. Horakh is very aware of the problems the locals deal with and helped us find a workable solution. Fifth, their prices are on the lower side and they have a clearance section that is usually marked at 50% off.... Very good.
