I had a pool pump that I had purchased from Leslie's installed by Leslie's Pool Service. The installer arrived 5 minutes prior to the expiration of the 4 hour appointment after I called twice to check on the status. He was in a rush and after installing the pump, wanted to get out of here in no time. He left the user manual on the pump for me and did not take any time to explaine the operation of the pump. He ignored the leaks that were developed after the installation of the pump in the rest of the pool pluming. He could not wait to get out of here. Bad overall experience. I waited for a year (not a typo - one YEAR - 365 days - 52 weeks - 12 months) for equipment to be available and installed partly due to covid. The store manager I dealt with was pretty good but the installer was another story. He ignore my requests, refused to do what had been agreed to, and left me hanging with a partially installed automation system. The work was amateurish and unsafe especially the electrical work and I had to personally spend another day or so correcting the work myself. To top it all off some of the equipment that the store manager had kindly reserved for me while we dealt with covid related shortages was sold to someone else and never replaced. It literally had my name on it. Never again. I've learned my lesson. The pool equipment manufactures are crooks trying to hold on to their oligopoly and forcing consumers to go through to go through "authorized" dealers which creates zero incentive for dealers to be conscientious and professional. The two stars are for the store manager I worked with. No one else deserves a star. read more

As we all know Covid has decimated the work force. Leslie's pool supply is no exception. Prior to Covid their stores had friendly associates willing to help you with any questions you might have. They still can provide excellent pool water analysis...but that's where it stops. Two weeks ago I brought my Polaris 380 in for some work on the water management system (the wheels were turning slowly and were "grinding"...normally that is a belt change and about $30 max. Well, in the Walnut Creek location the SINGLE employee (nice young lady) said there are few if any certified techs that can work on Polaris left at Leslie's. Danville store was my best bet. Danville employee (singular) did his best. Leslie's needs to pay more to bring in more staff. Trained staff so that things go more smoothly. read more

We always go to Leslie's Pool Supplies for anything related to our pool! They are open during the SIP, and they can do curbside pick up! I tried calling their number but it didn't work? I went in though and they had my items on hold for me. It was a very easy process. I paid for my items and then the staff members wheeled everything out to my car and loaded it into my car. SUPER convenient and so easy. I didn't have to touch anything or touch any of the product! The staff handled it all for me!! I recommend bringing a credit card with a chip so you don't have to touch any buttons or touch any cash. It makes it easier and a safer transaction. I highly recommend getting any of your pool supplies here in general and during SIP since they are handling it very well! read more

Well. I don't know where else I would go for pool supplies so that warrants 3 stars. They give me what I need. Bring in water from your pool and how big your pool is and they will tell you what to do and how to do it. I can't seem to manage those little test kits. They have other bits too. Just bought a vinyl pool you repair kit. That was nice. All the large appliance needs you could want. And lots of little pool toys that are probably over prices. For toys, go to costco. For chemicals, go to Leslie's. read more

This place is hit or miss. If the manager is in (Eric), they ROCK! He knows everything about swimming pools & hot tubs...from the chemicals to the machinery. Great customer service, too...he's really gone out of his way to help us. Unfortunately, if anyone else is there, you're out of luck. Even though I live in Pleasanton, and I find the Pleasanton Leslie's Store very well stocked and the personnel fairly knowledgable, for difficult issues I find myself driving up to the Danville store and working with Dave Austin. Dave Austin is one of the most knowledgable pool chemical experts I have ever met. Dave's knowledge is second to none. Dave knows my 22,000 SALTWATER pool filtration system and takes the time to explain, not only the chemical balances needed for my salt water system, but Dave was the one that suggested I switch from a chlorine pool system to a salt water based system several years ago. Dave Austin knows his stuff!! And I am so very glad we switched from chlorine base to saltwater based system. Fot the last three years, we have had NO algae issues or imbalanced chemical issues. Every 2-3 weeks I will bring into Dave in Danville or into the Pleasanton Store a water sample for analysis. Thank you Leslie's for offering the water analysis service. The Danville Leslie's store is great. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. However, DON'T USE LESLIE'S TO SERVICE YOUR POOL! They keep sending inexperienced, minimally trained technicians. A couple of years ago, I tried their service dept. for a simple filter cleanout. They sent an inexperienced technician and I ended up having to teach him how to do it. It has been a while, so I decided to give them another chance today. When I set up the appointment, I told them I have an older PacFab Nautilus D.E. filter and asked them to please send a more experienced technician. The technician showed up within the promised time window, but he looked barely out of high school. He'd only been on the job for two months and my filter system is older than he is. He'd never seen or worked on this type of system and I didn't want to take a chance on having him break something, so I asked him to call his manager and see if they could send a more experienced technician who has at least worked on my type of filter. Unfortunately, after I took a day off to wait for the service, they didn't have anyone else available today. He promised that the dispatcher would call me "in a few minutes" to reschedule for tomorrow, and he drove away. Nobody called or followed up so I'm left hanging. Bottom line -- if they don't have the experience to handle a simple filter cleanout, you'd have to be nuts to trust them with anything more complicated. Poor, poor, poor customer service. Brought my sweep in on Sunday and was told it would be a couple of days. I call on Tuesday to ask what the status is and get a snarky response, "have you looked outside?" (Yes, its warm.) And, then am told they are busy and it would be a couple more days. Thursday I call, they take my number and will call me back. An hour goes by, no call so I call back. Endless busy signal. Finally get through and am put on hold for 10 minutes while they check the status (why does it take 10 minutes?), only to be cut off. Call back again and finally get through only to be told they will try to get it done today. Would give this Leslie's a ZERO starrs if I could. Looking for a new place to get pool equipment repaired. 7/9/15 UPDATE Sweep fell apart today 7 days after repair. read more

First off, I couldn't do without a pool in the summer time (what do you expect, I'm a lab!! ) ....90+ degrees in Danville!! With that being said, I hate the Spring time and all the cleaning from the Winter that my owner goes through....there's ALWAYS something that needs replacing or to be fixed!! Leslies usually has that part that they need when it comes to starting a "pool project"......BUT....they've become wiser in how they go about this Spring time ritual..... They found a place in Sacramento, Best Buy Pool Supply that ships quickly, has everything in stock, and is substantially less than Leslies.....IF.....you can wait and not be in a rush to finish that project!! But you have to know what you need....skimmer baskets, cartridge filters, Polaris parts...all less and since they're in California, they'll collect the sales tax and you don't have to feel guilty about not adding to the States coffers!! (How much does Amazon take away or give to the State or County services anyways.....WOOF...!!) On that note, they do try to purchase locally, but nobody wants to pay too much either, especially my owner! So...how much of a rush are you in for that pool project this weekend?? earlier this summer, I was having a lot of trouble with my Polaris robotic vacuum. This was only the third year in the pool for this $1,300 appliance, and it was completely dead. I had a hard time with Leslie's at first, with lots of delays, unreturned phone calls, busy signals when I called, and weeks going by with no progress, I wrote a terrible review at that time, which I will retract if I can find it. Finally got in direct contact with Amber, and things really started to change. She was incredible, and went way out of her way to try to help. In the end, we had to replace the motor, and even though Polaris wouldn't do anything to help as far as warranty was concerned (it was a few months out of warranty), Amber arranged through her DM and store management to cover half the cost of the motor. Happy to say, it's been working ever since. Thank you Amber, and thank you Leslie's!!! read more

Joe is incredibly knowledgable, and efficient, everyone on his team is friendly and effective. It's a pleasure to come and spend $$$$ in his well organized and clean store. Yes I have been in this store at least 15 times over the years to buy chemicals, supplies and equipment and yes I am still mad at them because they never fixed my pool pump which they promised to do, and then they threw it away without calling me. They just took my property and threw it in the trash. Have they made me whole? No. Has the Area Manger so much as called me to say he is working on a resolution? No. Do fellow Yelpers need to know about this? Yes! The details: I dropped off my motor and pool pump and a rebuild kit and asked that they rebuild my pump. They took forever so I asked if I could buy a new pump and then also have them rebuild my existing pump so that I would never be without a pump in the future. They said yes. I then paid $750+ for a new pump and a new motor. I told them that since I was no longer in a rush for the repair that they could move my repair to the end of the line and repair items for other customers who were in a rush. Twice I spoke to the staff about this - once to the person who was doing the rebuild (the guy who commuted in from Livermore on the bus) and once to the person who checked me out when I paid for the new pump. When I went to pick up my rebuilt pump, it was suddenly no where to be found. Joe the manager said he could give me some chemicals, I told him to rethink his position as I was out a piece of equipment that I had just replaced for $750+. I never heard from him. I have asked that the regional manager call me by inquiring via another Leslie Pool store in the area. After one visit and three phone calls, no followup on their part. Went elsewhere, Aquarius pools in walnut creek is much better or even Leslie's in pleasant hill or Lafayette. Avoid this place plus they seen pretty rude once you come in oh and guess what!!! We have dealt with this store for 10 years and gotten very good service and advice. They have recently added a new manager Dave. He is very technical and has continued the good service. But where he has really stood out is honoring warranties for items purchases several years ago. I have visited the store three times. The first time I did not have much time and was searching for pool alarms. No one spoke to me and I left. I did some research on line and came back to make a purchase. The three people in the store managed to stop taking long enough to ring me up. Today was by far the worst experience. The same man who ignored me on the first visit, the Store Manager, was nowhere to be found as I waited nearly 5 minutes at the counter for anyone to assist me. The store was completely empty. When I let him know I wanted to return the three alarms he accused me of returning them after my pool passed inspection. He did not ask me the reason for the return. He then proceeded to open each box as if to prove I had used them for inspection only. Then he informed me that the return was too late when in fact I was within the 14 day policy. Then, he told me that there was a 15% restocking fee. Clearly posted on the counter is the re-stocking fee notification but nowhere does it state pool alarms are subject to the fee. When I questioned him he said that he would give me a store credit for the restocking fee. I asked if the notification was on the receipt and did I miss it. He then went on question me about why the return because (again) 'people just buy these to pass inspection' in a very condescending accusatory tone. I informed him that I have a child and children in the neighborhood and I decided to use what the pool company brought instead. I said he was very disrespectful at such time he told me I was condescending. I suggested that perhaps he was to blame if he felt I was. He hardly made eye contact the entire visit or offered to assist me in any way. I have always worked in the services industry and would have been fired for being rude, accusatory and using a condescending tone with a customer. He told me I could shop at another Leslie's location. This man (not gentleman) is in charge of the store...good luck with sales! I will shop elsewhere and tell everyone I know about what horrible experiences I have had at this location. read more

I would have given this establishment 5 Starts if it were not for my disappointing experience there yesterday, June 9, 2020. I was needing some help in making a purchase. The young man that was working there yesterday was the most unhelpful, disinterested and unfriendly clerk I have ever dealt with. I needed to purchase kick boards for my granddaughter's swim team practices. Michelle, who had helped me earlier and was really helpful was busy with another customer so I approached the young man. At first he did not even bother to look up to acknowledge me. When I ask him for help and explained that my need was pretty specific he said "I don't know anything about kick boards" and dismissed me. I waited until I could talk with Michelle again. MICHELLE IS A GREAT assets for our your company. She is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I wish I knew the young man's name, but trust me when I tell you that you might as well not bother even approaching him. Customer service is lacking with him. read more

Rush home from work, grab a pool water sample and $20 of discount coupons that expire today then head to the store. Show up at the store 15 minutes before posted closing, only one person in the store working on a pool cleaner in the back. She yells can I help you, I say yes I need my water sample tested. She says it's too late, something about the system already being shutdown, disappointing this is the store closest to my home... read more

While the people that work there have been helpful, the service is horrendous. Last Saturday I ordered a pump. Service called later in the day to set up installation on Monday, nine days later. The ad guaranteed 48 hour delivery and installation. That didn't even concern them that they were off by 7 days. At my request, they moved it up to Friday, a couple of days earlier. Then on Friday they called and said they could not make it, and this was after I had arranged to take the Friday afternoon off of work in order to be there. Never again. read more
