After years of disappointing pool service with many vendors, I finally connected with Pure Pool Solutions while they were servicing my neighbor's pool. I can't recommend them enough! Over the years, they've replaced outdated equipment, and helped get my pool up to its peak performance. What I liked most is that they come on the same day at the same time each week like clockwork, and alert me via text. With other vendors, it was a guess whether the pool was serviced or not. My previous review gave this company 5 stars, but service lately have fallen short of their previous stellar service. I spent almost a month trying to get someone out to service my heater. Finally had to ask my engineer brother to hook my heater back up so we could heat up the pool for a 4th of July family pool party. Think because of power outages, my variable filter was coming on during the most expensive time of the day to run the filter, and out of synchronizing with the sweep, which means my sweep was running just on the new booster pump which can wear out that pump. When I asked that the time and schedule be corrected, I went to check my variable filter and found it set to run at full speed 24-hours! I'm paying $215/month, up $50 from when I started this service. So it's not the cheapest pool service. read more

I needed help with a pool pump. I called and an actual person answered which was a good sign. Long story short I ended up fixing myself but this company sent out a person to look at my pump, and then later someone else followed up with me. I will use them again when something comes up. read more

Our first experience in 2021 was less than 24 hours from call to quote, they found some tough to find parts to boot. Knowledgeable, responsive, professional, & the quality of the work was excellent. By far the best contractors I've worked with. Since then we've used them for regular service, filter cleaning, and now some equipment replacement. I continue to enjoy working with Pure Pool. Michelle is easy to get ahold of, and doesn't waste time. Mike is a pro. George & Carlos do efficient, clean, high quality work. They've made a few recommendations to me over the last year ranging from $40 improvements, to $2000 replacements, to other contractors for related projects. I used to research before taking their advice. Time and time again they've proven it's not worth my time, as their recommendations were always the best possible. I don't pay Pure Pool to maintain the pool. I pay them so I can swim without thinking about maintenance. Would give 6 stars if I could. read more

Very disappointed customer... We've had Pure Pool Solutions for about 4 years now, and the first few years were fine. Then they had a change in service technicians and we saw some dramatic issues in the quality of work... for example, our pool turned green (we pay for them to manage the balance of the pool water, weekly). When we contacted them about the color they told us the filter was broken and need to be fixed, we fixed it... a couple of months later the pool heater was broken (fairly new), root cause was corrosion in the heater caused by an unbalance in the pool water. Pure Pool Solution took zero responsibility for the poor management of our pool water balance, and cost us a ton of money... that in my opinion could have been avoided should they have done their job properly. Mike (the owner) was not apologetic about the entire situation. I was willing to pay for the new filter and heater, but it would have been nice for them to take some accountability in the matter. This is a long due review. I hired Pure Pool Solutions back in August of 2021 Mike & Michele were nice during the pre-sale period. The post-sale experience went differently. Here's a summary: - Lack of product knowledge: After the technician finished the installation he told me my pump wasn't compatible with the system Mike recommended and that he didn't know how to wire it for variable speeds. He wired it for a single speed and left. I learned I could use 8 speeds using relays. The pump supports schedules which is a quick workaround (neither ideal). I shared a sketch of the wiring but they didn't have the knowledge. Another example was when I requested an indoor controller but Mike claimed Pentair didn't offer one and to rely on the phone app. I found and shared the part # with him. He claimed it was impossible to get a unit in the west coast (partially true). The very next day I did a small diligence and bought one near by. - Incorrect equipment assessment: Mike suggested an IntelliCenter i5PS. Besides the pump incompatibility, it couldn't handled all the features I have. The technician decided to bundle lights in a single relay and left the backyard's low-voltage lights permanently on. An i10PS was required. - Poor workmanship: Besides ending up with a new less capable system, I found other issues: * Automation box was damaged by the technician * Automation box doesn't have proper support and bounces back and forth * Breakers were incorrectly labeled * Electrical installation was not up to code (e.g. multiple wires on single breaker) * Water leaks * Pentair sent another company they trust and their assessment was subpar quality and pointed more issues - Poor post-sale communication: I shared the feedback with Mike and Michele upon completion. I sent pictures and videos of the issues and suggested alternatives. Mike simply didn't follow up. Michele communication was better. I treated Mike, Michele and the technician with respect, but they stop responding emails and taking my calls. - Upsell: Mike and a Pentair's territory manager visit my home to review my wiring diagram. They also came with an additional proposal: buy a pump, a filter and hired Mike's pool services to get a discount and extend the warranty by several years. Both my pump and filter were fine, but I accepted the upsell regardless. Mike also tried to sell my a new booster pump on the spot because of a noise. I leveled the pump and the noise went away. Anyways, he just needed to get a card from Pentair, do the work and invoice me. After 3-4 months of no-progress I decided to escalate to Pentair directly. - Simple warranty requests got ignored: The controller comes with a bridge to communicate with a home network. It's power adapter was faulty and made a loud noise. I showed it to the technician and he pointed me to Mike. I sent an email and nothing happened. The other company's technician look at it and handed me a new adapter from his truck. Resolved under 5 minutes. Unfortunately, not all issues have been resolved after 1.5+ years. Pentair's trusted company quote to fix Mike's mess plus equipment was too high. Instead, we agreed to rewire the pump. It took them few minutes to sort out the expansion card issue. Dealing with them hasn't been smooth sailing either as they serve Brentwood area and made an exception with us. I have to give Mike credit for covering part of the labor. However, they took no accountability on their work, the work done on their behalf and did not honor fixing remaining issues. I'd highly recommend staying away from Pure Pool Solutions for major equipment repairs/upgrades. At least take Mike's suggestions with a grain of salt and get a second opinion. Pentair products are great but any product is as good as its installer. Take your time to find a reputable installer. Pentair & most manufacturers have limited leverage to hold dealers accountable. Pentair territory manager tried to do the right thing, but there's only so much in his control. read more

We were very disappointed in this company. We were not allowed any direct interaction with any of the pool technicians. All pool-related questions and requests had to go through the billing lady so she could get answers from the pool experts. Unfortunately, she was super slow to respond, and sometimes didn't respond at all. On numerous occasions, the billing lady justified her slow response by saying they were just too busy. Hmmm, maybe time to hire extra staff if your customer service is taking a hit because of increased workload? read more

This is probably the worse pool service in the Bay Area, perhaps even in the state of California. Not only are them much more expensive than their competitors here in the East Bay, they're also the greatest rip off artists/Cons, I've ever encountered as a home owner with a pool. We were out of town for awhile. We paid our monthly pool charges and came home to tadpoles, algae, equipment strewn across our patio area. We had mosquito's as well. I have never seen a filthy mess like this before in our beautiful pool area. Our gardener had to come help. He pressured washed the sides of the pool and found us a new pool cleaning service, Susie's pool cleaning service. They've been over almost every day for the past two weeks working on bringing our pool back to normal. They're monthly charge is almost $80.00 less a month than Pure Pool Solutions. read more

Once again Pure Pool Solutions rescued me. My pool sweep connection to pool fatigued and failed this January. I did not notice until the end of the day but texted Mike and Michelle with photos of the damaged fittings. The very next day they were out in the cold and reaching into the 40 degree water to remove the broken fitting and replace it with the correct replacement fitting. A pool service should be able to quickly provide the knowledge, team, and skill to handle pool problems, not just net the pool and set the ph. Very poor installation of my replacement pump. I have to crawl around an electrical panel to access the control screen for the pump. I called and asked to have the pump re-positioned, and got a quote for $325. This is to fix their incorrect, and unsafe installation, which was $1400. Now no one is returning my phone calls. I applied to this co. a while back, agreed to $10/hr paid training and $15/hr like his other technicians, according to him (Mike). After the first week of training in the heat I finished the day with Victor dropping me off at my car. I was able to get an appmt within 2 days of calling. Owner Mike arrived punctually. He listened to the many issues we were having with the spa, pool and solar. He explained the problem and patiently instructed how we could resolve the problems ourselves, and provided lots of additional advice. He definitely did not try to "sell' unnecessary services at all, when he could easily have. I recently bought a house in Alamo that came with a very high utility bill, we spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the cause as we weren't using AC a lot. My neighbor had mentioned that Pure Pool put in a new Variable Speed Pump and that it made a huge difference. I called Pure Pool and Mike came out the same day, four days later I had a new Variable Speed Pump installed. I could tell immediately that this had an impact as my daily usage on PG&E.website showed a dramatic decrease in power. I have only had the pump a month but my first bill after getting the pump was 200 dollars less. Big believer that everybody should get one as it should pay for itself within the year. I regrettably have to write a 1 star review for pure solutions because at first they were very helpful and polite but ended up just being another lying company in a rush to get paid and move on. After they installed the equipment and were paid a substantial amount of money they disappeared and did not return any phone calls. They promised to show us how to program and use the equipment they installed but never did. After months went by and many unreturned phone calls and emails we are still unsure how to use the equipment( spoke with the secretary multiple times and she apparently did not forward the messages to the technician and became very condescending over time). My advise would be do not pay them until they complete all work and fulfill all promises. Hopefully this gets there attention and they can finally show us how to work our equipment at which time I am willing to withdrawal this review. read more
