Polar Pool and Spa came highly regarded from friends. We met with the CEO, Tony, to review how to optimize our pool chemistry and equipment. We recently purchased the home, and the pool is about 15 years old. We were amazed by Tony's depth of knowledge. And, rather than recommending a laundry list of things that need to be done, he recommended that we wait on several improvements. Not many service providers skip an opportunity to sell more services; he did not. Fabulous. Five stars for Polar: highly recommended. read more

I've used Polar Pool and Spa several times over the last few years whenever I had a problem with my pool equipment or solar heater. Tony is a great guy, is extremely honest, and is really and truly focussed on making sure you get the maximum enjoyment out of your pool. I was having a problem with my pump (of course on the hottest day of the season so far) and despite being super busy Tony stopped by on his way home, quickly diagnosed the problem, and repaired it enough to get me up and running. When he stopped by today to finish the job he noticed that my pool wasn't looking very good. He tested the water, added some chlorine, and told me what I needed to do to keep everything looking good. I have a better idea: As soon as I burn through the rest of the chemicals in my garage I am going to have Polar take care of my pool full time. read more

These guys are great. Highly professional. I just moved into a property and I had to get a bunch of things done to my pool and that happened right at the start of the season. Not the best time to book a pool guy with the great reputation that Tony and his team have. They are in demand! However, I had some serious issues that needed to be taken care of and Tony was great. He and his team got me sorted out very quickly. Unlike other contractors, you call or email Tony and you get a reply in really short order. Others don't even tend to call back. I was recommended to him by my realtor Jill Fusari and it was a great recommendation. Polar are now the people that will maintain the pool moving forward. I highly recommend them. read more

First time pool owner in San Ramon and Polar Pool & Spa really helped me out. They recommended the minimum to get things right without overspending and making me suffer sticker shock. They came up with a plan that matched up with the seasons and got things going right for my pool, including winterizing the system. They may also be the most honest pool guys around - my wife answered the door the other day and one of the Polar Pool guys gave her a crumpled up $20 bill that he found in the backyard. He said it wasn't his so it must have been ours. Gotta love the honesty. read more

My fiance called Polar Pool & Spa on a Monday and Tony called him back right away. Within that week on Thursday he was able to fit us in and stop by our house. Thank goodness he did. Since we are first time pool owners we have no clue on what to do. The pool company that installed our pool Royal Pools/Adams pools did a great job making our pool but sucks when it comes to the education and maintenance. They never followed up. Tony took the time to educate us on the basics and even fixed what the pool company failed to program on our system. He was very knowledgeable and kind. Tony mentioned to us that our system is one of the newer ones on the market and he himself did not know everything about it. We were very impressed that Tony took the initiative to call the makers of our system after he had left our home and asked them a few questions directly to learn more about our system. He called us back right away and filled us in on the questions he couldn't answer off hand during our visit. Within an hour Tony was able to give us a proper orientation about our system, show us how to balance our pool and fixed our system by programming the proper maintenance schedules. He even came by the next day to make sure that all the chemicals he put in our pool balanced the water correctly. What great customer service! We definitely plan on using Polar Pool & Spa again! read more

Tony and his team are awesome. We've been using Leslie's for the past couple of years, and we were tired of them nickel and diming us with repeat visits. Ultimately we needed to replace our pool equipment. We asked around and my wife's co-worker highly recommended Polar Pool and Spa. Our neighbor and some other friends also recommened them. I did my homework, and though Polar cost a little more than Leslies, you will save on getting the job done right the first time. Their work was excellent. In addition to installing the equipment, they corrected my pipe configuration, and cleaned up the wiring for my automation system for no additional charge. They also worked on their off day to get my pool fixed in time for my son's birthday party. Polar Pool and Spa definitely takes pride in their business and reputation and it shows. I would highly recommend them to my family and friends. read more

Truthworthy, polite, informative and high quality work. I am a first time pool owner and a do it yourselfer. They patiently explain their work and give great coaching on proper maintenance. Tony is responsive and helpful and so are his crew. If you crave expert advice or just want someone to take care of it for you, these guys are A+ at both. read more

I'm surprised I'm the first person to write a review for Polar Pool because everyone I know uses them and loves them. They were even recommended to us by the person who did our home inspection. I'm so glad we chose them for our pool service. Our pool is pretty old and our house was a foreclosure, so the pool needed A LOT of work. Polar Pool was fair, honest, and quick. They helped us get our pool in tip top condition and even taught us what we need to know about maintaining a pool day to day (what settings are the most energy efficient, how high it needs to be filled etc.) They are fantastic and we will definitely keep them as our pool service people for as long as we have a pool. It's hard to find such a professional, caring, quality service! read more

Polar Pool & Spa have exceeded my expectations in every respect. I called Polar based upon their reviews here on Yelp along with 3 or 4 other service providers. Tony called me back, talked to me at length and understood I needed affordable support for an aging pool. Tony showed up and immediately got to work not just looking at the pool but fixing a number of obvious issues with my setup. He replaced a number of parts, educated me on my existing pump and filter and provided me a *detailed* quote with things I needed to get replaced or repaired. My top priority was getting a more efficient pump installed as my pool was set up with a 3 hp pump when it really only required half that power. Tony gave me his honest assessment of what I could expect in savings on electricity. He is a very trustworthy fellow. I elected to replace the pump and set up an appointment. This is the crazy busy time for pool service but Tony fit me in a couple weeks out and showed up precisely when he said he would. Unfortunately, when I went to clean the filter prior to his visit I found our filter was damaged. I explained to Tony when he arrived the issue, he quickly called around to get me quotes on parts to fix my old filter. Upon reviewing the costs to fix my 10 year old filter I elected to replace the unit. Anyone else might have had to set up a second appointment to replace the filter but Tony knew the job would not be complete unless he did both the pump and filter. I was absolutely thrilled when Tony fixed the pump and then ran back to the warehouse to get a filter only to return 25 minutes later to install it. Everything was done on schedule and for an incredibly reasonable price. Tony and I talked a couple times shortly after the installation to tune my setup. He even came by one evening to check my schedule and make sure the pool was operating as expected. I did not ask him to come by, did not set up an appointment. He simply was standing by his work and making sure I was *completely* satisfied. Polar Pool and Spa are the best in the business. You can rest assured that Tony and his team will exceed your expectations. These guys are great. read more

Completely unprofessional. These guys came out and spent over an hour writing up a detailed estimate to clean leaves out of my pool and replace some out-dated equipment. They also added $75 dollars worth of chemicals. When we called back to schedule the work and I explained that we have our own chemicals and that we'd like to remove that off the quote. things changed! The guy no longer wanted our business and basically told me to take a hike. Whatever happened to presenting value around your quote and educating the customer. Instead this job was too small and this guy felt cheated he wasn't making money off the chemicals. Poor service. Would never, ever recommend them. And this guy was the owner. Don't write up a quote if you can't stand behind it or defend it. Waste of time. read more

They replaced our pool pump and filter. The work was prompt. It was raining a lot this week and we managed to schedule it on the only sunny day. They were flexible about it and great work! We really appreciate it! A great local company for any pool needs. read more

I have used Polar Pool and Spa for many years. Today I called on them again to replace an ancient pool filter tank and associated plumbing. As always they were prompt, polite, professional, and reasonably priced. I unconditionally recommend Tony and his company to anyone with any swimming pool equipment needs. It is a pleasure to work with such a fine company! read more

Tony is awesome. I recently had a Pentair 420 Filter installed. His work was impeccable. Arrival time was punctual and he was really good at calling me back when asked. He knows his stuff. Our pool is the cleanest I've seen it in a long, long time. After all the hints and tips, I should be able to maintain it. If not, I'm hiring Tony of Polar Pool to service it. read more

Wow, what can I say besides professional, prompt, high quality, extremely knowledgeable, and perhaps the best in the business. If you use anyone else...you can only blame yourself. Tony installed a new controller, booster pump, and repaired my heater. Additionally, he was ready to answer any questions I had and when he was done he told me to call him if I needed assistance on the new equipment. It's great to have high quality service, so if ten stars were available they earned them. read more

Outstanding service with helpful explanations of my pool system and how to maintain it. Would recommend Tony to anyone.

I called Polar Pool & Spa (based on Yelp reviews) and made arrangements to have my spa serviced. I had to wait about 3 weeks due to their booked schedule this time of year (I thought this was a good sign). Tony showed up as scheduled. He immediately got to work and explained to me what he was doing. As a first time spa owner, I was pretty clueless and a bit uneasy. Tony was educating and providing me tips so I could do most of the maintenance myself. He got my system up and running, despite it being a fairly old system. Tony was friendly, knowledgable and honest. He provided great customer service and answered all of my questions. I was even pleasantly surprised at the end when I received the invoice....it was very reasonable. I don' t usually write reviews on Yelp but Tony's exceptional service and reasonable price were certainly more than I expected. I'll definitely use Polar again in the future! read more

I have an older custom pool that I have not had many problems with (until recently). I knew the day would come that I would need a real "PRO" to handle major repairs for my complicated system. After networking for several months, I found Tony. I called him & was lucky to make an appt. the following week. Tony was punctual, professional, & most importantly, was knowledgable & capable of fixing the problem on the spot. Tony pin pointed the problem in a short period of time. During our initial phone conversation, by taking the time to ask me the appropriate questions, he arrived with all the necessary parts to make the proper repairs on my pool. Tony helped save me money by not selling me something I did not need. He followed up with a courtesy phone call a few days later to be certain I was happy with the job and the pool system was working properly. I feel so very lucky to have found Polar Pool for my pool repair needs. I highly recommend this company. read more

Best in class service and capability. Tony is the best. He understands the electronics plumbing and chemistry to get the job done right. He's busy for a reason - word of mouth is the best advertising. That's how I found him and I'd recommend him without reservation. Going to someone cheaper will cost more in the long run and he's competitive anyway. read more

I needed a new pool pump. A friend from work referred me to Polar. They came out and gave me an estimate. I decided to proceed and am very happy with the results. The new pump works great, the quality of the install was very good. Polar was quick, efficient, and reasonable. I would use them again. read more

Our previous pool company kept telling how clear our water was going to look, finally after months of cloudy water, we decided to change companies. We went with Polar Pools, They never told us our water was going to be clear, it just is clear, all the time. They also did a great job upgrading all of our pool equipment. I would highly recommend Polar for pool cleaning as well as equipment replacement. They will take the time to discuss your system, what you need and put in a system that best meets your needs. read more

Several years ago Polar (Tony) replaced our pool pump and control system. The equipment he recommended has more than paid for itself in electricity savings. Recently we had the pool completely renovated (everything replaced except the gunite shell and the pump system). As soon as that work was done we had Tony handle the start-up chemistry etc., to make sure it was done right. He also upgraded the pump control system and installed a spa heater. Tony is a pleasure to work with - always very responsive, keeps his appointments to the minute, proactively follows up to see if there are any issues - and his work is impeccable. Highly recommended. read more

During the past several months we have had multiple issues with our pool, filter, motor and pump. We were referred to Polar Pool and Spa, where we had the pleasure of meeting Tony Garnsey. Tony came to the house within 24 hours of being contacted, promptly diagnosed the problems with our pool equipment and then addressed them. A few weeks later, another issue developed, separate from the first one, and once again, Tony showed up promptly and dealt with the problem. If we could rate Polar Pool and Spa and Tony with more than five stars we certainly would. Attentive, on time, and very pleasant to deal with, we are delighted to know that we can call Polar Pools any time in the future and trust the care of our pool to Tony. We highly recommend Polar Pool and Spa to anyone having trouble with their swimming pool and/or spa equipment. read more

Tony Garnsey and his team did an awesome job installing a new variable speed pump and a new cartridge filter for our pool. I have known Tony for over 25 years and have worked on various projects with him. When it comes to pools and spas, Tony is the best! When I called Tony to let him know our pool pump had went out he called right back and within a couple of days I had a reasonable estimate to upgrade our pump to a variable speed pump and install a cartridge filter system. Tony gave his recommendations for the best pump and cartridge filter for our pool and we set up a date for installation. Tony and his team arrived on time, were professional, installed high quality equipment and did a perfect insulation. The pump he installed is quiet, very efficient and will save us money on our utility bill. Tony also gives high quality customer service. I would highly recommend Polar Pool and Spa to all our friends and neighbors. Thanks Tony! Rich read more

I had a severe algae problem with my pool and after trying to resolve it myself (I have had a pool since 1971), I gave up, searched on Yelp and found Polar Pool & Spa. These guys are professional and stay focused on doing the job intended. They did make some recommendations on equipment updates I might consider within a year but did not oversell. I was impressed with their service and their integrity. Will definitely use them again. read more

Our pool was in crisis due to poor service from our existing pool service and Tony at Polar Pool came to the rescue. He went out of his way to bring our pool back to safe levels for swimming in time for the 4th of July weekend. He really cared that our pool be in safe condition for our kids and family to swim in without getting sick. As it turns out, we had very low chlorine in the pool making it unsafe. He came back every morning for a week to fix it and inspected the equipment to ensure it is in working order. We are so thankful and the service is worth every penny. We found out about Polar Pool because they service several pools on our street. Thank you Tony for offering such professional and outstanding service - above and beyond! Tracy Harrelson read more

Very mixed reviews of this bunch. I used their service for quite a few years and have no problem with their pool cleaning crew. I do have an issue with the management however. If I had replaced everything they had recommended I would have spent thousands over the last 5 years. Often a simple DIY fix achieves the same result as the recommended multi thousand $ fix. Parts freely available online to the DIY pool maintainer mysteriously cannot be found by the crack team at Polar - and when they were held accountable they became evasive and shifty. I have moved on - and I am delighted with the new crew. I have no plans to recommend Polar to any of my friends. read more

During a very hot spell my pool filter literally exploded - on a Sunday. I called Polar Pool and Spa and left a message. Tony just happen to stop by the office, listened to the message and gave me a call back - on a Sunday!! He said they would come out on Monday and assess the damage and give an estimate, hopefully they could get to it by Friday. Tony came out, left the estimate. He also put chlorine in the pool to keep the stagnant water from getting green. They called later to say they had the parts and a cancellation and could fix/replace the filter earlier than Friday. I asked them if they could check the solar because I thought it had a leak. When tony came out he checked it and fixed it along with replacing the filter. Response and service was excellent. read more
