Came here on Oct 7, I ordered a formule €40 for an entree (appetizer), a plat and dessert. My appetizer was oeuf Bio Mollet, Fondue de Poireaux & Chips de Lard. It had half boiled egg on top of pale green vegetable that was salty. The bacon topping was burnt. My main plate is Magret de Canard Rôti aux Fruits Secs, Mousseline de Patate Douce (pictured). I asked the server what is the recommendation on how it's cooked. He said medium which I was amenable but then he later said "mais, for you maybe medium well". I had forgotten how the temperatures are and completely trusted him. But alas. I should have not. He thought that I would not like it rare but he doesn't know I have eaten medium duck before. Anyway, it was a little tough and I did not think that the mashed sweet potato melded with the duck nor the red onion. It is so disparate even just in sight. And finally the crème brûlée. The saving grace! First of all the size is humongous! Nothing like the dish size of when they serve it up in the US. I thought I had taken a picture but I must have been lulled before I could. Came here twice during my most recent Paris trip and the first time was excellent everything-food and service. I use a cane and they even made a special accommodation, so I didn't have to hike up the stairs to use the public restroom. Food was excellent both time with the foie gras being absolutely delicious and the escargot and potatoes being so tender and perfectly seasoned. The only complaint I have is my waiter the second time was less than friendly, but no points marked off because that is more what I would expect attitude wise in Paris. Delicious reasonably-priced food (almost all under €30 for protein and veggies etc.), comfortable red leather chairs, Parisian view with most chairs facing out enjoying an active street view through the wall of windows (open in nice weather), good cocktails and wines by the glass. Open all day everyday (I think, be sure to confirm). Great option for an early dinner (before many open at 7:00). Embarrassing to admit how often I've returned. I love this place! No matter how busy they are, you will be taken care of. Sitting outside is as charming as sitting inside. Their stuff is very polite and accommodating. We tried to have dinner here based on a recommendation from the concierge at our hotel. We made a reservation online. Despite my best efforts to greet the Maitre D we were ignored and when he finally addressed us it was like we were a bother. We were seated in a small table in the back corner squeezed in between several empty tables. We sat there for several minutes and watch the tables around us seated and waited on. We were again ignored this time by 3 different servers helping those seated around us. It was obvious since we were the only non French in this area we were not wanted. We decided to leave. As we walked out the door past the Maitre D he didn't even ask why we were leaving. Luckily as we wandered the streets to find another restaurant we stumbled across a small bistro run by only a married couple and had the most amazing dinner. read more

Tried to get in for dinner across the street at Le Comptoir for a double date around dinner time, but the restaurant is so small and they couldn't squeeze us in! So we decided to go across the street to this restaurant and give it a try. This restaurant was probably one of the biggest restaurants (space-wise) we went to while visiting Paris. It had downstairs seating and upstairs seating (along with outdoor, but what place in Paris doesn't have outdoor seating?) We were seated upstairs and asked if we could have a table by the window, but they said that it was reserved. But there was probably only one other table that showed up while we were there and there was about 8 tables in our seating area and the upstairs area had two divided areas so it was kind of weird we couldn't sit by the window. The service was slow, which isn't odd for Paris, but there really was no other tables being waited on while we were there and it was still very difficult for us to wave down our waiter. When we finally got in our order and our food. We weren't very pleased with any of the items we had. My boyfriend got a plate of different fishes on top of warm sauerkraut, which he did not enjoy. The fish really had no taste and there wasn't any sauce or anything to eat it with aside from warm sauerkraut. Maybe it's a thing that we just don't know about, but it was pretty bland. I got a duck and it was very dry and tough. It was so difficult to cut through and wasn't tasty at all. We had pretty good luck in Paris with tasty food, unfortunately this was probably one of the least tasty food places we ate at while we were there. read more

Im going to say 3 stars. I think the atmosphere is great and the food presentation is beautiful but the service is quite slow. She cleared all the dishes before I even had a chance to start eating my fries because I couldnt ask for ketchup. The carpaccio was thick and chewy and I couldnt finish it. My husband had the chicken entree which he said was very good and finished. Cool place but not a top spot in my books. read more

You might say I'm a tourist and okay so I found this place through Lonely Planet and might have referenced to a fold out map by Jardin du Luxembourg but my Parisian friend Marion was looking at the map more than I was. Anywho, this cafe, restaurant is a joy. As a graphic designer I must say I love the Type not to mention the name of the restaurant, this might be bias since I'm into that. Food: Excellent- a little pricier than other places by one or two euros however the atmosphere is very classy with a teak finish. It's perfect for people watching, catching up on a good read, or chatting with a friend. When I think of France I think of that evening we sipped on cafes and munched on little french things. Cozy atmosphere, free WiFi, open from breakfast to dinner time, serving hot food for all three meals. Today was very hot in Paris. We chanced upon this place and decided a meal was worth any price just to sit in the air conditioned space. The upstairs is posh with red leather seating. After a long walk, we couldn't get into Le Comptoir, so we figured we would try Les Editeurs across the street. Our waiter looked like Malcolm Gladwell. He moved all kinds of tables around outside so that our party of 3 had room, but didn't violate the "every table outside must face the street" law that France follows religiously. I started with the roasted eggplant, tomato and mozzarella millefeuille. It was kind of a cool concept and tasted very good. My cousin got the crispy bread with goat cheese puree and we ended up taking turns licking the plate (note to self: do not see Contagion). For dinner, I got the sea bass, which was cooked with the skin on. Our waiter came over to check on us, and suddenly gasped. He literally was astonished because he didn't think I was cutting my fish in the most efficient way possible. He then grabbed a knife and fork and de-skinned and de-boned my fish on my plate as we sat there hysterically laughing. Later in the night, we asked him to take a picture of us. We figured we would hand him the camera and he would say what everyone always does - "do I just press here?" Instead, he started messing around with the menu while laughing about how bad our F-stop settings were for this lighting. I think this guy may have actually been Malcolm Gladwell. For dessert, we had the brioche French Toast with caramel ice cream, which, while simple, was definitely in the top 3 things I ate in Paris. It was beautiful weather, and while we ate, several street musicians played quietly. Between the hilarious waiter, great food and atmosphere, this felt like a quintessential French night. read more

It was your typical french brasserie, indoor/outdoor seating basically on the street. He ordered a hamburger (who is he?) and I ordered croque monsieur because I had seen it in that movie It's Complicated. He scarfed his burger down so who knows if it was good, my guess is it was ok, but he didnt care. Having never eaten croque monsieur before, it was delicious. In fact, my boyfriend tried it and ordered it somewhere the next day, I liked mine better. But what really wowed us was the creme brulee with boubon vanilla. We had to eat creme brulee while we were there so this was the place. It may have been out of starvation, but it was nothing short of amazing! I should mention that I dropped a fork and before I could reach down to pick it up there was a new one on the table. read more

I am in love with the new space! It is like eating in a friend's home library or fancy salon. It is always packed, but you can probably find seats on the generous upper level. Unfortunately, forget about the terrasse. Even in winter, it's always occupied - and they kindly give little throw blankets for the lucky ones who score a table. The staff is not snobbish, and are quick to welcome you and check to make sure you have all you need. I have only been a few times for apero, but they give little snacks and keep your glasses full (water or wine!). The food looks and smells incredible, so I will have to properly sit for dinner sometime. read more

The Foie Gras was definitely interesting. My friend said to put salt on it and eat it with bread. I thought it was ok but I'm sure that's my palate not the actual item. Next, Steak Tartare was amazing. I got it slightly cooked and it was amazing. Lastly, Creme Brulee was love at first bite. You could hear the crack in the crust and it smelled divine. I devoured the whole thing in 2 minutes flat. Now that I'm back in Canada, I long for this. Costed me about $70 for these 3 items but well worth it. read more

While walking through The city on an evening stroll. A friend and I came across this bistro, after forgoing the long wait across the street. The menu, food and staff were all welcoming. With dishes offering something for almost anyone. I had the sesame wrapped seared tuna which was delicious. He had the steak tar tar which also said was amazing.
