Dirty Dick may officially win the award for "most questionable name attached to a genuinely great tiki bar." When we arrived the place was dead quiet -- like "did we accidentally come during a private apocalypse?" quiet. But as the evening went on, more people slowly wandered in and the atmosphere picked up. The drinks were fantastic: huge, strong, colorful, and dangerously fun. Exactly what you want from a tiki bar. The bartenders were incredibly sweet too. They answered all our questions, made recommendations based on what we actually like, and clearly knew their menu well. Always appreciate bartenders who don't just point randomly and say "this one." The decor and vibe were awesome -- dark, tropical, quirky, and full-on escapism. Felt like stepping into a hidden island bar in the middle of Paris. Only thing that threw us a little? The music. At several points it sounded less "tropical tiki escape" and more "waiting 45 minutes for Space Mountain at Disney World." Not bad exactly... just unexpectedly wholesome for drinks strong enough to make you text your high school friends at midnight. Overall though, we absolutely loved it and would 100% go back. Dirty Dick is a very fun French take on a tiki bar in the middle of Paris' Montmartre area. If you like spicy drinks, El Placer De La Tarde was a respectably spicy drink in addition to being tasty. My wife had the Painkiller and loved it. Later on I had the Navy Grog. It was good, but I'd say it wasn't crazy strong. My wife got the Miami Vice Negroni and we both thought it was meh. Being as you're in Montmartre, there are plenty of bars to visit. I'd definitely make Dirty Dick a spot to visit if you're doing a crawl. read more

Dirty Dick is the only people we double dipped during our holiday to London and Paris. Recommended to me on a Conde Nast Traveler article, I was drawn to it for the proximity to Montmartre and description as being a "dive tiki bar". I ordered the painkiller my first time around and it was perfection! The atmosphere of tiki music, Caribbean-inspired artwork and leis and tiki shields adorning the walls transported me to a beach in the Bahamas for a few minutes. We knew we had to come back our last night and did so! I ordered the Miami Vice Negroni and it was a complex drink. I still can't determine if I liked it or didn't. I got different sweet and bitter notes each sip. My husband got the extra grog strength drink and it was a hit! Do yourself a favor and come here! You won't regret the slight deviation from wine and champagne and enjoy the reprieve! read more

I told the bartender I was from Cleveland and that we have a good tiki bar here. He knew the bar and the owner. Tiki is a community and felt very welcome here. It did not disappoint - drinks were balanced and tasty and the atmosphere/vibe was on point (no Tiki music but cool French modern music that we thought was fun and unique). This cocktail bar is very dimly lit and they are tiki style cocktails. The skulls on the drink menu tell you how strong the drinks are. There's a good amount of seating for you to sit and enjoy your drink. We had one drink and decided to move on afterwards. Something that was extremely weird that was happening were people coming around asking if you wanted a massage. Even after saying no thank you they still tried to get us to take one saying that we decide the price after. Before coming over to us there were massaging people at the table behind us and kept bumping into me. They never said excuse me once. This was STRANGE to say the very least. Massages do not happen at cocktail bars in New York where I'm from or anywhere else I've ever traveled to. If I'm ever back in Paris I wouldn't come back here. read more

Back before COVID, I was traveling for business and found this cute little tiki bar across from my hotel in Paris France of all places! It was so unexpected which is why I had to stop in before returning to my hotel. The bar is small and unassuming. From the outside it reminded me of a no frills corner bar. But when I walked in, it was sensory overload! Dark and sultry, bamboo and candles; it was a true tiki bar! I sat at the bar and the bartender was so welcoming. He was friendly and helpful when I was trying to decide what cocktail to choose. Once I made my choice, he created a perfect tiki drink to satisfy tropical tastebuds. While I was there, he checked on me often and made smalltalk too. Round 1 - Hats Off to Berry and The Polynesian Remedy Round 2 - Mystic Fist of Ku and Winter Wahine Round 1 was the best, the cocktails quenched our thirst and were beautifully presented. For round 2 I did not care for the Winter Wahine, it was boozy and a tad sugary. The staff were cool and spoke English fluently. I wish I ordered a drink that they lit on fire! read more

Recommend by a friend who lived in Paris for a bit, Dirty Dick is a wonderful little tiki bar with some killer drinks. We only stopped in for a bit, but the ambiance brought on the sense of being in one of the many tiko bars of San Francisco: lower seating, colored mood lighting and well-worn carpets. The staff was super friendly and really understood the art of the tiki cocktail. My boyfriend was in the mood for a simple martini that they dressed up with a little orchid, but I opted for a bit more tradition and secured a Mai Tai. Overall, a solid drink, but what set it apart from every other Mai Tai I've had in my life, was the little frozen fish (that right, made of ice) full of spiced nuts! A nice touch and freaking delicious. If you find yourself in Pigalle, stop in for a drink and a surprise snack. read more

GREAT place for drinks in a cool yet definitely sketchy neighborhood. We weren't expecting to find a Polynesian type tiki bar in Paris but when we did find it at Dirty Dick we were not disappointed. It was a cool youngish crowd and neat decorations, and although it isn't a huge place there were a few different areas to sit and enjoy your drinks. The bartenders were nice and we were surprised to find some that spoke English, including one who claimed to not speak French at all. The mai tai was amazing, as was the pain killer, and the bartender who served us our first round of drinks really put a lot of care and attention into the drinks, even down to the sprinklings of seasonings on top of the ice that went in the drinks. As for the not as good...the Asian Persuasion drink might have just been the wrong choice for me but it tasted pretty bad. Like - surprisingly bad. Everything else we had there was great though and it was a lot of fun hanging out there right as we got to the city. We felt welcome there for sure. read more

We loved Dirty Dick. A block or two from the Boulevard de Clichy in Pigalle. If you don't look carefully you walk right by it. Great luck with the Zombie (en feu!). Very strong. The Painkiller was good, too, but a far lighter weight drink. Clubby atmosphere and music, and very cozy, not particularly retro. Mixed reviews I see about the bartenders: when we went, they were African (or Caribbean) emigres' and competent and efficient. I ordered in French, and they had no problem with me, though replying in English. Not for nothing, they were also very macho and not obsequious. It surprises me not at all that they don't tolerate being bossed or ordered around--or feeling as if they are--and would require a "s'il vous plait" or "merci," which are valuable phrases, if not essential, to the Paris travel toolkit (along with "bon jour"/"bon soir," "Madame"/"Monseur"). Paris is a personal favorite of mine, but the officious Parisian stereotype--which is simply pridefulness--exists for a reason and honorifics cut through much of it. "Hey, fix me an Old Fashioned" ça ne va pas. For tiki drink connoisseurs, know that subject to customs limits/creative packing, Martinique rum and absenthe in varieties you can't find in the U.S. are more affordable and easy to find in grocery stores, such as Monoprix. There is a Monoprix very near the Les Halles Metro. Martinique rum is an essential ingredient to a Mai Tai, selection of which is limited in the U.S. read more

I feel like the people who go to bars in Europe aren't really about sitting... they prefer to stand and chat - which leaves room for the tourists (aka me) to sit #winning! Anywho ... I tried a drink called the zombie (bartender's recommendation). It had approximately one million types of alcohol, that someone all blended well together.
