While drinks are absurdly priced at a whopping €39 per cocktail, I'd say it's worth the wait and the price tag. This is the perfect cocktail bar with the coolest atmosphere and impeccable service. Even just walking through the Ritz on its own is an incredible experience. Would highly recommend checking it out at least once
My wife and I visited during the Christmas holidays. A few tips: Opened at 5 pm and there are only 25 seats. We arrived around 4:30 and there was only one other couple in line. However, it quickly queued after we arrived. If you're not one of the first 25, then I suspect it's at least a 45 min to hour wait until table turn over. (Hours may vary?!) We were seated and since it was the first group, a lady gave an introduction to us all and explained a bit about the bar and experience. That was nice. Servers presented menus with their famous craft cocktails. I suspect you can order your at your own request too. Delicious olives, potato chips, and nuts were complimentary and replenished as needed. Most drinks were 38€, so you are paying for the entire experience!! We started with a raspberry martini and French 75, followed by vodka martinis, and finished with a glass of champagne. The drinks are presented with detail such as a fresh flower. All drinks were very good. It was a fun experience, and the staff goes all out to make it special. Final tip: be sure to take a few coasters home as a souvenir!
Ah, to ring in the New Year with my first 2025 review - the epic Bar Hemingway, where Hemingway himself took his nightcaps. Is it posh? Yes, it is. Is it maybe *a bit* too posh? Yes, it is. It's a tiny bar in the Ritz Carlton that seats barely 25 people, and the queue to get in starts at 4.30pm. It's one of those places where you have to sit down and sink in to really understand what the fuss is all about. I made my maiden voyage to the venerable cocktail bar with two friends I met on a writing course in 2017. It felt particularly nostalgic to be among these friends, sipping cocktails and telling old stories, just as Hemingway might have wanted. The ladies received beautiful roses with their cocktails. It's true that this little bar has become more of a tourist trap over the years. But it hasn't lost its magic, and despite the pricey menu, I still think the ambience is worth a visit. In fact, excuse yourself and make your way down the winding carpeted staircase to visit the restrooms- even that journey keeps you "in scene" and you won't be disappointed by the elaborate gilded decor. Enjoy, soak it in, and yes there are free-flowing snacks that come with the drinks.

Stood in line for about an hour and when I finally got to the front the host wanted to seat a party of two behind me instead since I was solo. So, I asked someone in line ahead of me who was also traveling solo if she wanted to sit together and she agreed and we were seated. I ordered the extra dirty martini-- the hype is that it's a regular martini with an extra olive embedded in the ice cube that slowly makes it extra dirty. It was incredibly strong and not balanced and honestly a bit underwhelming for $30 or $35 can't remember. She got the hotdog and I opted to just snack on the complimentary snacks. Overall, it's a pretty space but probably something to check off just once unless you enjoy queues and incredible mark ups on cocktails.

We spent about 20 minutes in line and the host will keep things moving for you. If you have a larger party and want this experience, I would recommend coming at opening or on a non-peak evening. My cocktail was lovely but not $40 worth of lovely. You're paying for the "experience" I suppose but the price tag is completely outrageous for what you actually get. I ordered a fruit forward cocktail that, while it was good, was not memorable, innovative, or particularly remarkable. The most I've ever paid for a cocktail and not one I'll ever really think about again. The space itself is gorgeous and service was kind and prompt. The snackies are a nice touch! Go have yourself an experience.
I was so looking forward to visit this bar and it was everything I expected! We were lucky enough not to stand in line because we went when they just opened. Inside it's a small space with dim light, classy and chic. The walls are full of Hemingway's articles and pictures. The menu is a huge old fashion newspaper, unique. Table was set with water, nuts, chips and olives. The severs looked sharp with their white jacket, ready to take your order. I knew the specialty of the house was the Dirty Martini but im in my Expresso Martini era so I went for it. Each lady receives a beautiful white rose in their cocktail, nice detail. There were only three options for food, sliders, lobster rolls and hotdogs. We ordered the sliders and the lobster rolls, both very good. Despite there are several reviews stipulating this is a tourist trap it definitely didn't gave me that impression. Otherwise, I think it was the total opposite. I felt in a genuine French bar in the 40's, full of atmosphere and fun vibes. Very charming place. Highly recommended.
Located at the Ritz, Bar Hemingway is a small, cozy bar with lots of history. There is an entrance that is located just outside of the bar; however, during my visit it was locked and I had to walk around to the main entrance of the Ritz and then wander through a maze of hallways to get back to the bar. Since the bar is quite small, be prepared to wait if you arrive at a popular time. Although, the doorman at the Ritz told me it would be at least a 45-minute wait and I only ended up waiting about 10 minutes. I'm not sure if he just had bad information, or was trying to deter me for some reason. There were a handful of tables open during my visit, even though there was a queue, so perhaps don't let the line deter you. I ordered the mini cheeseburgers. They were raw in the middle. Cocktails are 38 euros, so maybe just come by for one drink to soak in the ambiance. Women who order drinks here will also receive a white rose with their drink. There are complimentary bar snacks (olives, nuts, and chips). The chips at my table were stale. The napkins are cloth handkerchiefs, which adds an additional touch of elegance.

I was iffy if the line would take too long but hopped in. I think I waited up to 15 minutes? A rather quick queue. I was sat at the bar and was immediately presented with some snacks such as chips and nuts. The menu is stylized in the format of a newspaper with some excerpts on the drinks. I ended up ordering a Ross d'Ecosse for my first cocktail! It was adorned with a very beautiful rose. The cocktail was champagne based and was very good! Sneakily strong so I had a bit of a buzz after just the one drink. I decided to order one more cocktail, being the Zelda. It was a slightly spicy cocktail with flavors unique from any other cocktail I've had before. It was brought to me by Sam! She makes a great cocktail :) Everyone at the bar was very kind and I ended up staying to chat for quite a while! The inside of the bar has this cool ambiance functioning as an ode to Hemingway with an old timey feel. The cocktails are pricey at 35 euros each, but the bar is situated inside the Ritz Carlton! Overall, I had a very good time and felt it was a unique experience. Worth the splurge!

Probably the most expensive yet the most accurate representation of a classy speakeasy bar. First off, the bar is located at the Ritz, so you'll have to make your way from the hotel entrance through the beautiful hallways of the Ritz to get to the bar. Then when you check in, they'll walk you to your seat, where you're immediately transported to a Parisian movie from the twenties. It's a wood paneled intimate bar with limited seating, and it's easy to pretend that Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald are among the customers there too. Did I mention their menu is like an old school newspaper and that my drink came with a beautiful white rose? Talk about jazz age perfection! read more
Tucked away in a corner of the Hôtel Ritz this elegant bar was named after the famed American writer Ernest Hemingway, who was a frequent patron. The bar exudes an old world charm with oak paneled walls adorned with vintage Hemingway photos and memorabilia. They had an impressive lineup of signature cocktails, but in a rare flash of memory from English Lit 101, I felt compelled to channel Hemingway's Jake Barnes in The Sun Also Rises, and chose Champagne instead. As expected the service was flawless. Immediately upon being seated, a young lady brought us olives and mix nuts in a divided dish. The waiter soon followed to take our initial order. Pro tip- They open at 5 pm so get there 10-15 minutes before to stand in line. We got there at 4:45 and there were several people ahead of us. It's a small intimate bar that only seats about 20 something people and it filled up within minutes after we were seated. Sam and the rest of the staff took care of us and everyone so well. You immediately feel like family when you enter this charming little room rife with memorabilia and decor. The food is bar food but highly elevated. This was Oct of 2025 we were here and the drinks are exquisite and food is delicious and playful. We loved it here. When your martini was 30 euros and worth every penny! I wish I'd taken more pictures. It's located in the Hotel Ritz and I don't think they accept reservations. There was a short line which I found annoying but then I realized there are only about 30 something seats and I don't blame people for lingering. I did not feel rushed at all. No food but various bar snacks kept appearing Table was wonderful and service was top notch as was my raspberry martini. Every lady receives a fresh rise with their cocktail. The space is amazing with lots of Hemingway objects spread throughout. People watching was over the top. Loved it!! read more
Tourist trap. The Bar Hemingway is located inside the Ritz Hotel and is accesible by two points. The main entrance on Place Vendome and the back entrance in Rue Cambon. The location opens at 530 and the queue starts forthwith. Priority is given to VIPs and hotel guests. The better option is to come around 8:00 and then make the queue as the crowds dissipates. The actual bar is small with less than 25 tables and bar seating. Your best bet for an experience is to sit at the bar. The bartender is an award winning mixologist and will engage in lively conversation. The Bar has tangential links to Hemingway. It is not the Bar Chicote in Madrid or even the nearby Harry's Bar. The former is the setting for two of Hemingway's short stories. Bar Hemingway features in the Sun Also Rises. All that come here are trying to partake of an experience that is not real. If you think Hemingway would come now and share a drink with you, your out of your Instagram mind. If you don't understand, take another selfie it's ok, you'll be safe soon. The drinks are good and the food is very limited to cheeseburgers and hotdogs. Bar snacks are provided ala Spain. My advice: come and enjoy but don't linger: sort of like Disney. Long lines and artificial with mediocre food relying on a faded legacy. read more

Came here half for a good cocktail and half for the ambiance.. The place is cozy and chill where everyone is seated (so no one standing with their drinks) and super posh. The place is lined with all these objects related to Hemmingway so its a pretty cool vibe. Drinks are ridiculously expensive, but they are also really delicious, and presented well--- each drink has a background story as well. Free refills on the chips, olives, and nuts. Highly recommended as a quasi-bar/tourist destination, or a place to entertain guests, but also not a place you'd come weekly for a quick drink. read more

Lovely establishment that was visitier by Earnest Hemingway a few times, nearly a century ago. As near as I can tell that's the only connection. All drinks are approximately 35 euro but are a half portion size as what is typical. My martini glass was half full when presented to me. Additionally, the Martini bar does not have blue cheese olives. It's worth one visit but becomes clear that it's a gimmicky tourist trap. Hemingway would be disappointed - there's no way be would drink at this establishment today. It's an over priced joke. read more

Oh my God. This is my favorite bar in the world. I still remember the first time I visited it almost 10 years ago. This time we had to wait an hour to get in. But it was well worth it. The clear dirty martini is there iconic drink. It is served with an olive brine and ice in the middle of the martini. It is wonderful. It has this wonderful slightly sweet taste that is very light and amazing. Of course, there's no way to get the recipe to this amazing martini. our server was so much fun as were other people at the bar that we met. We were there until closing time at 10:30 PM and we started at 6:30 PM. We did have the hamburgers which are the small little hamburgers, which were OK. We did not try the hotdogs, but that's the only two foods they have along with the chips and nuts and olives that they give you !!! read more

There's no better way to end the night than at the Ritz Paris. I'm not sure I could have been any happier than the moment we walked down the steps and spotted open seats in Bar Hemingway, a little after midnight on a weeknight. I was probably beaming from ear to ear the entire time. Love this bar, like with my entire heart! I'd had a delish dinner prior to arriving so I went Pink Panther. I don't generally drink cocktails with cream but I gave it a go for this very special occasion. If you know me you know I'm a tequila girl through and through and adore white chocolate so I mean was this drink even really a question. I think not. We also ordered a Hemingway Daiquiri which was very, very yummy! I may have actually liked it more than the Pink Panther. Exceptional service. Very classy, very lovely establishment that I will continue to visit on each and every trip to Paris. I just have to get my timing right ;) I've arrived before to a full house with a wait, and we all know little miss impatient does not like waiting. If you have superb taste, I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this bar. read more
Walk to the back... no even further back... until there is no hallway left at the Ritz, and here you will find Bar Hemingway. The real entertainment here is Barmaster Colin Field. If you can, grab a front row seat at the bar, order a 30€ cocktail and feel zero guilt about eating all the chips, almonds, and olives you can acquire while watching him work the room of personalities with his stories and moments of connection. If you care more about drinks than Paris's iconic characters- there are plenty of those to delight you as well. read more

Easily one of the best bars in Paris that you must visit! It may be a tad hard to get into but well worth the wait if you can make it. The bar is quite small and very intimate with mementos from all parts of Hemingway's life. The drinks, though expensive, are crafted with utmost care and perfection. A newspaper style menu tells you a little history and the story behind each drink. You could spend a while reading it all but honestly, just dive into one and be prepared for a unique experience! read more

I was really looking forward to the experience here and more than willing to wait over an hour to get in. Places where the staff is able to make good recommendations after hearing what my favorite drinks are (The Last Word, Gin Dirty Martini, French 75, Negroni) ususlly leas to great experiences and I expected the staff here to impress. However, I was very disappointed with one of the staff members that fell far short knowledge wise (although I think it was partly due to a challenge with understanding a lot of English) and a second staff member helping was only pretty good. On top of that I was just not impressed with the drinks or experience and sent back a drink, which I have only done one other time in my life. The Connaught in London is a far better place to explore the menu, but the history and experience at Bar Hemingway was worth a one time visit. read more
