What a great find! This bar doesn't look like much from the outisde but once you walk in, its super cool and full of character. The bar staff was extremely friendly and educated us on the history of the bar. Both bartenders spoke english and were from United States. It was explained to us that Lulu White was a brothel madam, that was concidered to have more power than the mayor of New Orleans during the late 1800s. Her brothel contained a "Blue Book" that allowed patrons to chose their companion via photos. The Lulu White bar, took this concept and allows you to chose your drink according to the individuals photographed in the "Blue book". We were told the individuals listed in the book change about every 6 months but the Lulu White drinks remains constant. I tried the Lulu White: Altos Anejo Tequila, Plymouth Gin, Genepi, Absentroux, and Cardamon noir. It came in a elegant beautiful glass and It tasted like a dry martini with a licorice flavor from the absinthe. This was definitley a drink you sip on to enjoy. The décor of the bar, resembled historical New Orleans with its dim lighting and elegant décor and half moon booth seating. This was a great surprise, and I recomment anyone to stop by and check it out! read more

Quaint bar with live jazz and nice bartenders. Stumbled in here on a Sunday night trying to get away from the mostly English speaking clientele in the surrounding bars. Still a strong mix of anglophones but locals seem to balance out the crowd. Fairly priced cocktails. I had the Beatrix which was a little too bitter for my taste, so switched out to the Pale Ale which was tasty. The live music was fantastic! Not sure if the ensemble is there every weekend, but they made a great trio. I'd visit when/if in Pigalle again. read more

This was a fun a little spot, but it's very small. The place is so small, that there was a line outside that we had to wait in. Though the line was short, the "door guy" had to give word to the bartenders when he was letting people in. ie. 2 leave, they let two in. When we first walked up we were a bit confused because of a crowd of people smoking but weren't actually waiting to get into Lulu White. We asked the gentleman at the door if this was the line and he rudely said yes. Once we were in, a bartender approached us with a menu and asked if we spoke English or French. Once we said English, he quickly explained the menu and said we could sit wherever we'd like. However, when two seats opened up and we sat, he told us we couldn't because he had people that had been waiting longer than is. It was very confusing. He was nice about it though and said when something else opened up he would seat us. Soon after, two seats near the wall opened and he sat us. we had a frozen drink that was tasty and strong. The atmosphere is dark and loud, similar to a night club but it's a bar. The music was all American. I'd like to go back when there is live jazz. I would recommend this place for the cocktails, but definitely not the atmosphere. read more

This place is such a good time! The bartenders were super friendly and taught me about genever (which is excellent). The drinks were delicious: well thought out and well executed. This was the first time that I had a grasshopper, it was a refreshing drink that was a good way to end the night. They had a good list of boozy drinks as well that fit my palate. The small bar has sort of a carousel look to it. They had a three piece band doing Jimi Hendrix songs. I could see myself being a regular here. read more

Super fun cocktail bar with great mixologists working behind the bar! We waited about two minutes outside while the bouncer checked if there was room for us and then guided us to two seats at the bar. The bartenders very kindly introduced themselves and helped me pick a drink. It was called the something green giant and had cucumber and honestly is one of my favorite cocktails I've ever had. The crowd here it was a mix of French locals and other tourists which was nice. I know that it's marketed online as being a jazz bar but keep in mind that they don't have jazz every night, while we were there, they were playing general hits, everything from hip hop to rap to pop to some rock, so there was really something for everyone. To be super clear, don't expect an overcrowded bar where everyone is standing around dancing in a clump, they do a wonderful job here of making sure that people have a seat/table to stand with so it is comfortable and leisurely experience, and doesn't get overly packed. This was different from other bars in the area that we're super packed and you are touching bodies with strangers the entire time, and I really appreciated the effort to make it such a comfortable experience. Very delish drinks. Lovely bar. Was stuck for the length of one cocktail with a dozen other people who spoke English only. And the bartenders spoke English too (despite being Portuguese). The staff were super friendly and again the cocktails were really lovely, but it was such a disappointment to be in a place where no other French people were just chilling out in their neighborhood. Scott Fitzgerald or Hemingway I did feel like I stepped back in time. My husband ordered the scotch based Moon Flower cocktail and my sister and I ordered the champagne based Lulu's Fizz cocktail. Lulu White was recommended to me by a local friend and boy were they spot on. It's a quaint, dimly lit cocktail bar that serves up some epic cocktails. If you happen to be there on the right evening there's live music (generally jazz as I'm told) and we happened to luck out! The bartending staff seemed super close and their joy for the craft came out in every cocktail. We had some great conversations with the team as they don't get a lot of Americans in there. I had a couple martinis and one of the signature cocktails and it was all fantastic! Highly recommend if you're in the Pigale/Montemarte area and want a pre dinner drink. Rori and Ben were a hoot! The patrons, I don't know if they were regulars, passerby's or just tourist like us but the bartenders (Rori & Ben) make you feel right at home! They talked to everyone, kept the drinks rolling (I only had one for the sake of trying something) but my friend's indulged in 2-3 a piece. Amazing cocktails, boozy slushies, and friendly bartenders. How do you get anything less than five stars for that? My hotel was no more than a few meters away from Lulu White, and I'm bummed I came here just once on my last night in Paris. It's a beautiful room with a great vibe--the music was all American soul, disco, and funk. There are two slushie machines with legit spirits being mixed in for a unique flavor. For instance, the slushie du jour featured Chartreuse, Lilet, and absinthe. Usually these machines are packed full of sugary garbage, but not here. Served with a smile from the woman I presume is the owner, and it was a gorgeous sendoff. It's pretty clear that the bar gets bumping a bit later in the evening, so if you're looking for a party, probably showing up around 11 or midnight is the best bet. read more

We stumbled upon Lulu White by sheer luck... strolling down the street we heard the amazing sounds of jazz and decided to pop in... boy we were lucky we did. Turns out this place is 1 of 7 most intriguing speakeasy's in the world according to a CNN travel article... as well as Thrillist. Another reviewer mentioned that this feels like going back in time - just as in the movie Midnight in Paris (one of my favorite films) and I'd I agree 1000%. The truth is, some of the most alluring and magical spots in Paris these days are not owned by French people. It's the foreigners who are bringing their craft cocktail bars and laptop-friendly coffeeshops to France, shaking things up, quite literally. I've got no problem with classic wine bars and brasseries, but after a few days of the "traditional" French experience, I was craving something less predictable... Lulu White is a perfect example. It feels more Brooklyn or New Orleans than Paris, with it's slushy cocktails ($11-14) and classic rock soundtrack. It's not just dim but DARK, with tiny booths and tucked away tables for a close-talking date. Our waiter described each cocktail to us in poetic detail, and we agonized over our decisions. In the end, the girls had Lulu's Fizz, a simple champagne quaff with an aftertaste of Flintstone vitamins (how's that for poetic?). The boys had some fancy artisan beers, a bit pricey but delicious. The place is tiny, so you'll need some luck to get a seat or booth. Arrive early or very late for the best chances. We loved the laid-back vibe, upscale drinks, and passionate servers. Lulu is a real treat, even for a jaded SF cocktail drinker like myself. read more

Just woke up from what was supposed to be a nap thinking about our favorite (that we went to every night we were there) local (to our hotel) bar! Mike, Juliette, and the general manager Olivia treated us with such hospitality, it kept us coming back- definitely an A+! Mike told us that Lulu White was a real Nola brothel madame owner and all the drinks (many of them absinthe based) are based off her ladies... & the drinks they made us off menu were phenomenal as well including our fav, the French 75 made the traditional way with Cognac! Overall I had an excellent and amazing time here! I went here for the first time for Fat Tuesday not knowing this was a new orlean themed bar! My friends and I were in for a treat! We walked in as they were hosting a small band playing jazz. The music was amazing! Everyone was sad once they were packing up ! But boy! Let me tell you!! The party was just getting started! The bartender turned on the strobe light and the rest was history! Wow, the cocktail were complex, interesting and unique. The NOLA Classic themed cocktails this night were very yummy. I did choose one cocktail i did not like and the lady waitress was very pleasant and friendly to tell the male bartender to change the drink completely.. he made me a whiskey mojito instead to his request and creativity! It was delicious! My Parisian friends never visited this bar before and was very impressed By recommendation I made! I will say the bar is a little small but it can easily accommodate around 45-50 people . Shout out to the black male bartender-- he can even sing! He made this bar very lively and fun! Lol & shoutout to the petite English speaking lady waitress! You were the best! First things first: read up on Lulu White (the person) because if you're opening up a bar that's dedicated to a turn of the century bad ass MF Creole brothel madame from New Orleans, you better believe I'm about that action boss. Secondly, if I walk in a spot and you're bumping D.R.A.M, outkast deep cuts and Cam'ron- I might kiss you on the mouth. The bar itself was awesome- went there on a Friday night with the lady around midnight. Lots of other late 20s early 30 folks enjoying themselves. Small and intimate but with plenty of room so you never felt like you were jammed in there like a sardine. Ben our bartender was really friendly (and fluent in English) bonus points for greeting us at the door and helping us with the drinks list. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Their cocktail menu is labeled as the "Blue Book" with pictures of different characters-each of these characters are actually cocktails filled with unique personalities. Very very very cute. If you're not sure on a drink, hopefully the other bartenders are just as helpful. Don't think about it too hard though, because you can't go wrong. I've tried three different cocktails and they were all delicious. Only thing missing would be either a live jazz band or a jazz soundtrack versus the rock and roll they seem to go with. Drinks were quick and well made. Olivia is a gem, she looked after me and my friend and I can't thank her enough. They have a killer selection behind the bar, from Chicago whiskey to sugarcane rum from Haiti! They've got it all. I have been coming to Paris for business lately (from LA) and have been making it a point to always stop in Lulu White when I'm wandering around the city at night. I discovered it initially when visiting Dirty Dick (next door, also great for tiki drinks) and it's an excellent cocktail bar with great service and a superb staff. The current manager, Mike, is top notch and incredibly informed on what spirits are on offer. If you're in the 9th / 10th and want a cocktail but don't want anything too stuffy or pretentious - and in the mood for great live music on weekends / every night on the stereo- you MUST stop here. read more

I consider myself a bar aficionado and have made it a mission to try to go to as many of the "Top 50 bars in the world" and Paris has a collection of them. Lulu White might be one of the best of them. Walking in the bar was small but intimate. I felt welcomed by not only the bartenders but the patrons. They had a live jazz band that melodic tones only heightened the atmosphere. Inside I was able to run into a American bartender that was one of the most attentive bartenders I've ever had. He coached me through there menu and offered in-depth recommendations my girlfriend and I more than enjoyed. In the end Lulu White is the type of bar you want to visit as I felt welcomed and left the bar with nothing but fond memories. Do yourself a favor and go.
