    Delicious cocktail

We tumbled on the bar at Shangri-La after a long day seeing all the sites. What a spectacular bar and hotel. Ambiance and service can not be beat. Staff was so friendly and eager to share the history of the hotel which is impressive-The Shangri-La Paris is housed in the former private mansion house of Roland Bonaparte. Le Shangri-La Paris, situated at 10, avenue d'Iéna (16th), is housed in the former mansion house built in 1896 for Prince Roland Bonaparte, the great-nephew of Napoléon.

Loved this place! Giuseppe was an awesome bartender that made the best drinks! We had to hit this place twice while we were Paris.

My husband and I chose this bar because it was walking distance from our AirbnB in Paris. It is very close to the Eiffel Tower. The bar is located within the Shangri-La hotel. It can seem a bit intimidating/pretentious walking in but the staff make you feel comfortable. The drinks were great! Be prepared to pay however, drinks were 35 euros each.

True to theme, there is a lush garden on the wall and water is poured from a watering pot. The drinks definitely have strong herbal and floral notes.. I found one of them to be quite overwhelming and they quickly fixed it with some bubbly tonic to tone it down! An excellent experience above and beyond what we expected! The cocktails are very fun, and they even have a few beers here if that's your thing. The servers speak fluent English, and it is popular with foreigners, but it's not a tourist trap by any means.

So the little red door has a cute red door but the bouncer lets you in through another door (novelty observed haha). The man takes your jacket and umbrella (what a gentleman!) and sat us on the second floor. While the space between the couch and the seats were rather small, we were able to manage. I got the permaculture and resilience. The resilience is a club favorite and my favorite too! The way the sorghum, pineapple sage (syrup), pasquet cognac, and savanna rum all tied together was a blessing. I was going to get a third but I was tipsy by my second drink. My first drink was the permaculture and while I was considered it would be strong, it didn't seem strong to me. I love clarified dairy in alcohol so this was a win in my book. It consists of chestnut, butter, wakaze umeshu, avallen Calvados. The bar let's you stay for an hour but if you sit elsewhere, you can stay as long as you want. 5 stars and I hope to come back someday!

Unassuming, this cocktail spot in the 7th is a perfect start to a fun evening. My prescription began with an old fashioned coup tailored with "The One." Citrus vodka based classic. It was very good! The champagne foam on top was a first for me. Made the drink trendy I suppose lol. I hung out downstairs until I got hit on by a cute photographer, I'm engaged, so that's a no! But a good sign for single people. It's an environment that creates open conversations. I guess I wasn't done exploring when I ventured upstairs and sat right in between to groups of friends chatting. To my left what looked to be grad students talking about future career plans. They complimented my dress, very nice of them. And to my right a group of friends discussing the topic of dating men who like "going in the back door". One of the ladies seemed very against it but mentioned, "if he really wants to I will atleast one, but i do not prefer it." The mood is intimate and chic. Overall a great time!

Boyfriend turned on the flashlight on his phone to see the menu, as it is quite dark in the bar, but was asked to turn it off by the obnoxious bartender. She said it was too "aggressive" to use actual light to see the menu. He turned it off, and I used the background light from my phone to make out the drinks on the menu. All of them were very "stylish" and expensive, with a lot of unnecessary ingredients. When a table opened up, we moved to it with our drinks. We decided to just have one cocktail, then bail to go to a friendlier, less complicated place. The waitress for our table had an attitude and was just plain rude. Never going back.
