This small restaurant is extremely hip and vibrant. We showed up on a Tuesday at 7, and were fortunate to get a table (as they recommend reservations). It was soon clear why: the place filled up quickly and was bustling with a mix of locals, tourists, and expats. The food was a little mixed: I got the chicken and fresh spaghetti and it was sublime. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, and the skin perfectly crisp. The spaghetti was very fresh, well seasoned, and had these delicious chanterelles atop it. We also got a beet salad that was quite good: the beets were of high quality, tender (but not mushy), and there was a wonderful contrast in texture with popped quinoa that was mixed in a tasty beet puree. The cheese plate also had a Robuchon (maybe misspelled) that was deliciously creamy and unlike anything I've had before. read more

Fish La Boissonnerie was a great meal. I would say a bit more country style French. Cute place and everyone around us was friendly and seemed to enjoy their food and experience. When we walked in, we asked if we could sit upstairs, and they said that that's where the kitchen was, so no. It was funny - I can see why Americans annoy Parisians. We ask for a lot. For our entrees we had white beans, tartare tuna and tomato salad (you know that entrees' are appetizers in France). For our main dinners (plats) we had the lobster anise ravioli and monk fish, both excellent. The ravioli were large and the monk fish was a thick piece with great texture. A good friend recommended this place, and it was wonderful, small and quaint. We had the tuna tartare appetizer, which was really fresh and flavorful, Then we shared two tuna entrees between the 3 of us - simple, but really good, with fresh toasted cherry tomatoes and sone of the best polenta I've ever had - crispy on the outside, a d creamy on the inside. Incredibly delicious modern French fare, with an intimate ambiance! We made reservations for two for dinner, and were seated quickly. Jonathan came by to chat a bit before taking our order. He spoke fluent English, which I appreciated; I felt more comfortable asking questions and for recommendations. The meal opened with a complimentary amouse bouche of a small cup of green lentil soup. It was very interesting. Savory and light, with a thin texture. The bread was so good! I watched Jonathan slice it for us and bring it over. It had a fantastic texture; chewy but fluffy, light on the inside, with a lovely crust on the outside. The bread itself was one of my favorite parts of our meal. I ordered pork belly atop a bed of mashed potatoes. The potatoes were so creamy and decadent, but still light. How do they do it? The potatoes also had some herbs inside, which made for a well-rounded bite with the pork. The pork was tender and juicy, practically perfect. My date ordered the risotto. Creamy, cheesy, delicious. The texture was soft, but not monotonous; it was very smooth. All in all, Fish might be our favorite French restaurant of the trip. I'm looking forward to returning! read more

A Wonderful Evening Fish is run by the same team behind Semilla and Fredie's, two perenial left bank favorites, so we knew it would be good. A small, bustling bistro on Rue de Seine, Fish has a convivial atmosphere and tables are not crammed together. While the noise level was above average, we were still able to carry on a conversation. We started with an affordable bottle of Champagne Blanc de Blanc while we purused the menu. This being our ninth day of non-stop eating in Paris we went light. My wife and I both opted for a refreshing tomato, watermelon and feta cheese salad to start and the house specialty hazelnut crusted whiting, a nice moist flaky fish served on a bed of wilted baby spinach and shallots, perfectly cooked. For desert we split a poached peach. Again, very light and refreshing. Service was outstanding and friendly and never hovering-- the French way to a great, comfortable evening. Highly recommended. Faced with the task of summarizing my meal at Fish, I'm feeling a bit unenthusiastic. My father recommended it as a casual place, not too expensive and generally tasty. I was bummed to find out it was owned and mostly staffed by ex-pats, which just makes me a snob. But you, fellow yelp reader, may want to know that when making your decision about where to eat on your one night in Paris. The table d'hote menu looked appealing, and for 35 euro, I decided I'd try it all. Allow me to remind you that 35 euro turns out to be many more dollars in the event that you are someone who 1) thinks in American currency and 2) dares to do the math as a means of self flagellation. The food was yummy in a basic way. The gazpacho was quite delicious, but mostly because I was thrilled by the glob of sorbet floating in it. The fish was tasty--Marlen? It was white and the flavors were good. The basil panna cotta was pretty delicious, but you know how it is with panna cotta--its kind of mono-flavored so don't expect anything more. One of the waitresses was turning red from the amount of wine she was drinking over by the espresso machine, which was off-putting. It was the end of the night so go ahead girl, finish the bottle, but be discrete! Whomever made our coffee, however, did the job just fine. Be warned: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT AMERICAN EXPRESS. I got the 3 course meal but I also got to try other people's dish as well! Sharing is caring! Their bread was nice and warm and super seasoned. I had to eat seconds! 1) Saint Jacques Thinly sliced scallop sashimi served with fresh dill and pickled beat cabbages. It was very refreshing and a good start to the meal 2) Tuna Tartare Probably my favorite over the scallops. Perfectly seasoned diced up tuna with thinly sliced radish, diced up sweet pineapple, and some micro greens to garnish. 3) Seared tuna steak over potatoes This was also pretty good as well. Presentation is great here. You can see the level of attention to detail here. Looked to be some thinly sliced taro chip served underneath the tuna along with potatoes and aioli. 4) Daurade (Sea bream) Perfectly cooked sea bream. Nice crispy skin and perfectly moist fish meat. We had the most wonderful dinner at Fish la Boissonnerie our last night in Paris! I was misinformed that reservations were not needed. Luckily, we arrived a few minutes before the restaurant opened at 7pm and managed to snag the only table that had not been reserved! I would highly recommend reserving a table in advance. The menu at Fish la Boissonnerie is only in French and unfortunately our waitress seemed to be the only employee who did not speak fluent English. Fortunately she spoke just enough English to tell us some of the ingredients in the dishes so we did not have to rely solely on our dictionary. We started our meal off with a wonderful bottle of Cabernet. We each choose the Prix Fixe Menu which included the choice of an appetizer and entree for under 40 euros. We aren't completely sure what we ordered, but we loved every last bite!!! I ordered a buttery stuffed pasta appetizer and this magnificent pork dish that was served over a bed of spicy cucumber, cabbage, and bean shoots. My husband ordered a clams and squid appetizer and the white fish. My sister ordered the ceviche and the white fish. Despite the language barrier our waitress was so friendly and helpful. We were never rushed during our meal despite the crowds of people that attempted to get a table. Had tuna carpaccio for appetizer, and John Dory as main as per recommendations - both were great. Solid 3 star restaurant. They expanded the place according to the blogs but I can't see how. Food wise the kitchen puts outs quality dishes with some flair. On this visit we started off with a cucumber gazpacho with truffle oil and it was paired with a 1er Cru Chablis. Next was the rabbit tureen (sp) with pickled veggies. This dish was light and explosive in flavors. The rabbit was moist and chunky -- clearly did not skimp on the meat. Next up the roast lamb. My fiancé and I didn't have reservations but were lucky enough to snag the last two bar seats for our final dinner in Paris and are so glad we did! Our server was so kind (and bilingual). Seeing we were having trouble picking a wine, she asked us a little more about our preferences and ended up recommending a nice, medium bodied white with a buttery finish that was our favorite wine of our trip. There were plenty of food options and even as a vegetarian, I was able to find great choices for a full three course me. We got the lentil soup and ceviche to start, cod and gnocchi as mains, and the panna cotta and orange tarte for dessert. Everything was delicious, the ingredients were very fresh, well put together, and the presentation was beautiful. The orange tarte in particular was incredible. Truly a hidden gem in Paris at the Saint-Germain-Des-Pré district! Such a wonderful seafood restaurant! The fish (Grilled Hake) are cooked to perfect with a crispy skin on top, the sauce to the fish is just like soulmate to each other! I could hear them singing in my month. It was amazing!! My last night in Paris, I was determined to have at least one fancy dinner; I settled based on friends' recommendations at Fish La Boissonnerie, a nice walk from the Orsay & l'Orangerie, through the art gallery district and a bit of boutique shopping, should you be looking for holiday gifts, as I was. I arrived right when they opened, and had no trouble being seated without a reservation at that time. The meal opened with a complimentary taste of green lentil soup, delicious. I did some thorough googling of the menu, as my very limited French had met its match, and settled on tete de cochon (pig's head), which I admit, made me nervous, but it was served in a presentation that was sort of like a crab cake, almost -- chopped fine, shaped into a round, and fried, I think? With a mushroom mousse, and other delightful elements I can't name now, but it was all so good, I wanted to lick the plate. I followed that, on my waiter's recommendation, with the scallops -- but I'm not sure I've ever really had scallops before, if they're to be compared to this melting deliciousness. My god. With a fennel puree, and this one I really did very slowly savor each bite, not wanting the plate to end. I was tempted by a cheese course, but couldn't resist the passionfruit dessert, with ice cream and chocolate cracker and little delicious bits on top and it was just all so good. I might have added a touch more passionfruit myself, but I am a fruit dessert person -- there was a lot of chocolate hidden under that cracker, more than I needed, but others might disagree. It was all truly splendid, and the only thing that would have made it better would have been having someone there to share it with. But I read a very nice book while I ate, and all was well. This was a great surprise. It's a smaller restaurant, but it was quite quaint. We had to wait a little bit for our table (but considering we made a reservation that night, we were ok with that). We were able to enjoy a bottle of wine while we waited. The service was impeccable. I highly recommend the following dishes: gnocchi and the walnut encrusted whiting on a bed of spinach. Also the white asparagus was delightful as well. Oh and the bread was delightful! Oh, did I mention that we were seated next to President of Normandy Hervé Morin. I think overall in most French resos/bistro/brasseries the menu changes often and yield to local & climate or what is available and it is fantastic. The cooking here has a traditional depth w modernity and elegant presentation. flavors are unexpected. Broccoli soup in cold w a bottom of crunchy sun chokes?!? Ricotta cheese and some ingredient that was so ever mild- my brain said it's either earl grey or a smidgen of lavender. So delightful and refreshing. This soup started me on a high note. Teté de colchón! A hockey puck shape that had been seared on the flat sitting on a very smooth sieved pea purée w whole peas on the side and a long crostini w fresh anchovies, mandolined radishes and marianted mushrooms. Veaaaaaal as the "plat" perfectly cooked, perfectly cooked chunky asparagus, carrots and peas, sitting on a sauce that reminds me of fricassee (tarragon lemon thyme cream chicken broth sauce-ish....) This meal was a whole delight. Service is sweet and kind. Always replenishing the delicious basket of bread. Bread flat and tastes buttery even though your hands don't look it. Paris has not stirred me wrong so far and I don't think it will read more

We made a reservation to dine here about a week before our trip for a Sunday night, since I read reservations here are needed and many places are closed on Sundays. This is a very beautiful restaurant, with impeccable service and wonderful food. It was one of our more expensive meals of the trip, but well worth it. Their bread was one of my favorites of the trip. We started with a pork cheek appetizer, had tuna and lamb entrees, and a dessert. The couple next to us ordered the whole chicken to share - it was so much food it could have fed 4. They said it was also very good. We planned our trip at the last minute so it was really difficult to get reservations at many places we wanted to try but when we gave the restaurant a call, they told us they might have a table if we walked in at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night so we decided to give it a shot. We had a couple of drinks at the bar while we waited for a table and the bartender was charming and chatty. There is nothing pretentious about this place and the food is decent and honest but nothing extraordinary. If you're looking for an easy meal where you can feel comfortable without a language barrier, I would recommend Fish la Boissonerie but make sure to call ahead and try to get a reservation. read more

Forward from my friend Elzabeth McGehee Grossich Dear Mr. Sanchez: We just dined at your restaurant, Fish La Boissonnerie , this evening (4 avril 2011) starting at 20h30 and finished the meal at 21h35 (according to the timestamp on our receipt). We sat at Table #6 and we were waited on by Serveur 1. I live nearby and was eager to take a guest with me to try your restaurant. The evening started off well; the atmosphere is very charming. We sat at the bar while we waited for a table for two. At first the waitress was very accommodating, particularly because we both suffer from severe food allergies and made this clear to the waitress who verified with the chef for us to choose our meal. For me, the meal was fine, without any ingredients that cause an allergic reaction. However, for my dinner guest, the dish contained cream, which she could not eat because she has a severe allergy of cream and lactose products. When making the choice of what to order, we voiced that cream would be a problem, and in fact, my guest chose another dish than she wanted because she was assured that this dish would not have any cream products. The dish arrived with cream, which was confirmed after she took a bite, and when we asked about the dish and its ingredients, our waitress said she thought there was cream and said , "Is that a problem?", without making any kind of effort to correct the mistake. Rather than checking on us again, she sent another waitress, who was very rude, to take away our plates and glared as she tossed away the uneaten dish that contained cream into the garbage by the bar. My guest felt very ill from the meal, even after one bite, because she is that allergic. We were eager to leave and get Benadryl so we asked for the check. It was necessary to leave the restaurant immediately but I wanted to make you aware of this because allergies can be life-threatening and I thought that as a courtesy, I should inform you of our experience. Although the location of your restaurant is very convenient and it has a wonderful atmosphere, after that horrible experience, I will not be going back and will not recommend it. This restaurant should be on everyone's bucket list of food delight. We walked into this section of restaurants. and had to flip a coin to decide on where to go. Thank goodness for HEADS. I was skeptical when I heard English spoken amongst the patrons and servers. but was pleased by the menu being in French. I had the fish soup (to die for), and my wife had the lentils with egg for starters. The egg really worked well with the lentils, otherwise it would have been dry. It was a combo that I never expected! For the second course, I had the Pollock with beet and currants sauce, surrounded by pickled cucumber and cabbage which was so tasteful I will never forget. The dark red matched the intense flavor. I am salivating just writing this. My wife had the tomatoes with oregano, olive oil, feta cheese and eggplant for her second course. I never tasted oregano and tomatoes with such intensity. Our server spoke fluent English, and she helped us through the menu. The food is insane! From the first course to the second, each ingredient melded together with symphonic delight! This was the best meal that we had in Paris. Subway ticket X2 $5 Two course meals X2 plus a bottle of wine: $135, Finding this place on a flip of a coin: Priceless! Fish is a bistro located in the 6th (lots and lots of art galleries). Its not huge which means the noise level stays low so pleasant conversation can ensue. The bar is prominent in the dining area and we sat there for dinner. My scallops and mushroom risotto were well prepared - especially the scallops - tender and flavorful. The wine selection is quite nice and we tasted about half a dozen before settling. Dining at the bar helped with the tasting process. Service: Attentive, up close and personal. Outstanding really.
