Cathy is an amazing talent and multi-tasker! I had a couple of items with broken zipper heads and Cathy and Le were able to fix them for a very reasonable price (don't believe the average prices you see for a zipper repair on the internet- this was way, way lower). Found them through Yelp and had never been until today. I called to ask if they could take my measurements for a dress. They said yes, and I got measured immediately when I arrived several minutes later on a Saturday afternoon. Took less than five minutes. We called first, and we asked to get 2 pairs of khakis hemmed and shortened. The guy said $10, and can be done within 1 hour. Since we don't live in the area, but we were hanging out there, we decided to do everything we need to. They ended up finishing in 30 mins and was great with their promise. tl;dr = cash/check only no-frills place that gets the job done well and relatively quickly. Pricing is very reasonable. I brought a long formal dress with two layers to be hemmed six inches and they turned it around in a week. If you want them to save the material for you, specify it when you go in (vs other places I've been to that will automatically save it for you as a courtesy). By "no frills" I mean a smaller shop, zero small talk, and a relatively rudimentary measurement process, although I bet it's more intensive for suits. They didn't use pins when measuring but what looked like a soap bar that had to be pressed really hard given my dress was white and this difficult to see soap streaks on. I was worried the imprecise measurement would result in an uneven hem, but the dress turned out great. Would definitely use again for future tailoring needs. read more

They were in Sunnyvale but has relocated to this new location at the corner of Castro and El Camino. I've been using their services for over a decade now. For pants hemming or a waistband, I'll always use them because they're quick, and the price is great. They now have two locations, and this is for the one in Castro. It's cash or check only so keep that in mind, and pick up can be a little hectic, but it's worth it for the work and price. read more

They are okay, their prices have gone up for sure since they used to be here. They do good work and are competent. They won't mess up your clothes. The issue I had is that they promised a date and when I showed up, they told me they have been busy and would need another day. Le's is open and awesome! She only stays open until 3 or 4 so call first - she stayed open just for me and hemmed my pants while I waited! Pants for a suit altered in time and was done properly. We had to get it done in a few days and they were able to accommodate us.

Dropped it off on a Thursday and they said it would be ready with alterations by the following Tuesday. When I came by to pick it up, nothing was done. I came back the next day (when they said they would finish hemming the dress) and it's still wasn't done!! It was finally finished by Thursday when I came by for the third time. Mediocre tailoring place at best. I came here to get a bridesmaid dress taken in at the bust/waist area. I tried on the dress in the shop and she kind of pulled and poked around, then had me take off the dress first before she placed pins in it. I thought it was a little weird, but just went with it. I assumed maybe she was experienced enough to not need to place the pins while the dress was actually on the person. The dress was ready a few days later so I went to pick it up and try it on. I felt like the dress was still kinda loose; aka I couldn't really hold it up (it was a strapless dress, and she had told me before that after she took in the waist area, it was supposed to be held up from there instead of from the actual bust). I then asked if she could put straps in to help hold up the dress and she said if I didn't have the materials for that, she couldn't do it. She also said that for strapless dresses, you just have to keep pulling them up. That's definitely not true, because my wedding dress was also strapless, was altered somewhere else, and stayed in place perfectly. I ended up just paying what I owed and got out of there. It didn't feel like she really cared about the actual quality of the work that was done. Ask FYI it's cash or check only. read more

She did the re-hem right then and there, even though the shop was very busy, and I was out the door in less than 5 minutes with a hemmed dress!
