I found the optometrist (a female), very through. Ordering glasses is what makes me angry. They charged me $300 for the cheapest pair of glasses ever made. They were bifocal, plus they charged me an extra $20, that I had to pay myself. I don't care for the glasses but what could I do but order a pair online that I could afford. I had to ask these people 4 times to send my prescription by email. They claimed the doctor had to look at it and sign it but I never got it. A couple of months later I tried again. Still they did not send. Called a few days later they sent prescription unsigned saying it was not valid. I'm sure they knew I wanted to order online so no PD number of course. By that time I was aggravated and threatened to let everyone know their practices in my review. They didn't care, they still did not correct this. I guess I WILL have to contact the BBB and a new optometrist.

I drove to Primary Eye Care Center in Bloomfield because they are much closer then my usual optometrist's office. It was very busy when I arrived. I was okay with the wait because I had no appointment, nor had I ever been here before. I waited around an hour, when the very nice lady named Denise said she was ready for me. I handed her my lens and my frame, she took them to her station, in around five minutes the job was done. My glasses were also sparkling clean! Denise didn't charge me a penny for her work. This is a small business and my insurance guided me here. I tried to overlook the "daycare" environment for the doctor and staff, but did have to mention the out of control kid was getting a bit loud when they were screaming their head off. That's actually minor compared the lack of expertise and guidance when fitting for new eye ware. Not being able to see without glasses, I relied upon their input to ensure my eyes would be centered in the lens, the glasses would fit good and look good. This did not happen. I ended up with oversized lenses without glare coating ON THE INSIDE, which severely inhibited my sight while I was driving and led to a slight vendor bender. When I went to see what could be done they had me pick out new frames, and after a 20 minute wait they stated my insurance would not cover new glasses and these would totally be at my expense. Not for one second did they volunteer to work with me or feel they had an obligation to make sure I could see properly when leaving their office after purchasing eye glasses that should have improved my vision. I was not asking for reimbursement for car repairs or for a full refund, I was expecting them to work with me and offer some type of a discount on a new pair of glasses as it had nothing to do with the insurance, but it had everything to do with their business model and inferior service level. I was simply told that I picked them out and it was my issue to deal with. Please avoid this business. They are pretty busy and there is no good reason why except that it is a convenient location. Let's go out of our way and patronize a store where customers matter.

The only time I felt the doctor was giving an in-depth look at what was going on with my eyes. They offer you two additional exams that insurance does not pay for, but they are not expensive and worth it for the amount of detail analysis/images they are able to get on your eyes. I hate shopping and shopping for glasses is not remotely on my list of "favorite things" to do; however, she was very helpful and narrowed the type of styles I liked so I could pick what worked best for me. You could tell they do the same sequence with most of their patients, but I felt cared for and not just another paying customer. They answered my questions along the way and were very descriptive about what a certain test or a certain liquid was for.
