I was completely broke at the time and paying for it was way over my budget. Then, when I came back the next time for a follow-up, I figured it couldn't hurt to at least ask if I could get an extra sample or two given the circumstances. I expected the answer would be no, but this seemed like an innocent question, especially given that I never consented to the service in the first place. Before being able to tell the doctor about the initial consent issue, he interrupted me, made false assumptions based on the snippets of my intended statement that he bothered to allow me to say, and then proceeded to give me a condescending lecture on how services cost money. Obviously services cost money! I don't expect anyone to work for free. What I expect is to be asked if I want a service before being required to pay it. What I expect is not being lectured on false assumptions that were made based on statements that were left incomplete because I kept being interrupted. Had he bothered to let me speak, he might have heard about how I was not only not told that my insurance didn't cover it, but not even asked if I wanted the service. Regardless of whether or not it would have changed the outcome had he allowed me to speak, I did not appreciate the interruptions, assumptions, and condescension. Between the doctors rudeness and the unexpected charges for a service I never consented to, I can not recommend Tolland Eye Care, and I will not be returning.

Office staff is horrible. I asked to be called at the end of the day because I work 3 rd shift. So…read moreinstead of calling at 3:30 as I requested(they close at 4) they called at 10:00 am. Thanks a lot!!! I took a sleep aid because I was having a job interview and staff meeting that day and wanted to be sure I was on point. Thus the request for the call back in the afternoon . Needless to say I was groggy for both. All I wanted to do was order a pair of back up glasses. The prescription had not yet expired, which they admitted but they said they recommend I come in. Trying to use up my end of year hsa dollars, that's all. Will not be going back. If you can't comply with a simple, respectfully made request, I'm not interested in giving my business

They called me up and said that I owed an additional $80 because "it was a diabetic medical exam and that it went to the deductible. I called my insurance company and they said that they were not in network and that the billing code was correct. They actually billed the insurance company an extra medical fee, which was rejected because it's included in the coding for the original eye exam. The practice was not in network at the time of my exam and tried to bill me the out of network fee. The other issue is is that the doctor will not give you your paper prescription for your eyeglasses until you buy the eyeglasses from them. I asked the doctor for my prescription and he said that when I picked up my glasses, he would give it to me. I have never had this happen before. As far as my prescription itself, I'm still not seeing very clearly.

This Vision Center houses the office of optometrist Laura Vodopivec, whom I can't quite tell is…read moreeither really nice or really good at pretending to be nice. Regardless, she is fairly good at her job and very efficient, all the while making time for her patients. The reason I chose to get my eye exams done here is because the other optometrists in the area (notably, those in Willimantic) said I would have to wait MONTHS to get an appointment as a new patient. Appointments with Dr. Vodopivec, on the other hand, can usually be made a week in advance, which was especially shocking, given that that Dr. Vodopivec only works part-time. The staff at this office is kind of...weird. One guy is aggressively friendly, while another woman doesn't really talk at all unless you initiate the conversation. Given my insurance co-pay, I only had to pay $20 for the eye exam itself, but the contact lens fitting cost me a whopping $70. I'm not sure if this is on-par with the typical cost of a contact lens fitting, but it certainly did a pillaging on my wallet. (A note about the contact lens fitting: If you are "prescribed" to wear a new type of contact lens, you'll have to come in again a week later for Dr. Vodopivec to check to see if the contacts feel okay. You won't get charged for this additional visit, though.) Overall, this place is okay. Not anything to write home about, but it got the job done.

They scheduled me for an exam & contact fitting, over the phone they asked if it was my first time for contact I said yes. However, I came in today to get told that I can't get fitted for contacts because they scheduled me at 10am instead of the end of the day. The doctor was extremely rude, never apologized and I was extremely disappointed. I have since moved from when I was close, but today was an hour of driving wasted because people are lazy & didn't do their job. Very impersonal & I would not recommend them again

Unfortunately, their billing department causes problems. I received a notice from my insurance that they had reached out to Hebron Eye Care for more information to cover a claim on my routine eye exam, but Hebron Eye Care did not respond. Instead, they stuck me with the total cost, paying over $300.00 out of pocket. If you are a private pay and plan to pay the total cost at Hebron Eye Care out of pocket, you will be fine. But if you, like most people, rely on vision care through your insurance, then you should know that the billing department may leave you holding the bill when they make billing mistakes. For me, the expense and headache of trying to fix this business's billing error wasn't worth it, and I have found another friendly and competent optometrist who has a more reliable billing department.

So, I called in July and asked about getting an appointment and what their pricing is. They had reasonable prices which are comparable to the ones from my previous doctor, so I went ahead and snagged an appointment. Now, my schedule is a bit difficult to work with, but they have great hours here and work to accommodate. I went in for my appointment, and the office admin, Mary, and the doctor, Dr. Sadanowicz were absolutely wonderful. They were both professional and courteous. Dr. Sadanowicz explained everything before she performed the various tests and went into depth when asked additional questions. I did require a referral to a specialist, which the doctor was kind enough to provide, and also eased my worries. Thanks, Hebron Eye Care Team!
