It happened with my primary care physician (as well as his replacement). It happened to my dentist. And it happened to my eye doctor. So that explains why in December 2015, I became a patient of Solinsky Eye Care when they took over my eye doctor's practice upon his retirement. Solinsky has ten locations across Connecticut, and I visit Dr. Jessica Olewnik at the Avon office. She has been fantastic to work with. She is friendly, personable, and extremely thorough and helpful. Solinsky is very proactive on keeping up with technology and industry advances. Did you have one of those field of vision exams? Just a few years ago, the current technology would have you stick your face into a contraption that reminded me of a submarine captain peering into a periscope, like Sean Connery did in "The Hunt for Red October". Well, that is no longer state of the art. Yesterday I had the same test using a Virtual Reality headset! And I have to mention Solinsky's Front Desk Associate (I'm embarrassed I can't remember her name) who may be the greatest goodwill ambassador I've ever seen in a medical setting. She's been there forever and is a holdover from Solinsky's predecessor.

They gave me an appointment for a week after I called. I arrived there at 7:30 am, Angela the Ophthalmic Nurse was very friendly, patient and sweet. She did some tests on my eyes, until the doctor arrived. Doctor Olewnik, confirmed I have dry eye. She prescribed me eyedrops, also gave me a sample of the same drops, so I could use them immediately, until my prescription arrived in the mail. My eyes have healed nicely, and are no longer watering. I'll be returning to Solinsky Eye Care for future eye care needs.

We managed an appointment within a week of calling -- very rare! -- and were taken to see the doctor with less than five minutes waiting. The exam was carefully done, eyes dilated, and the waiting precess comfortable. When it came time to pick out glasses we had a reasonable choice of affordable frames, though if you have the cash they have some really upscale frames (think Tiffany, Coach, etc.) They didn't push us to buy more, much appreciated, and they helped fit the frame and got us out in not much over an hour. We thought the doctor, the front desk staff and the young woman who fitted us were knowledgeable and helpful. This is not a large operation, but the interior is clean and they have a nice public restroom. Curiously, the outside of the building looks abandoned with grass and shrubs way overgrown. Somebody needs to fix that right away. We initially thought the place was shut down. But -- unless they get our prescription wrong or it is delayed arriving, we'll stick with four stars.

She was absolutely magnificent -kind, considerate, patient, and very efficient. The way she conducted herself was stellar. If I could have dreamt up a better person to have met and worked with, that person would not have been half as good as Tiffany Mathieu. After researching their website, I figured out which style of glasses I wanted. I walked in on a Monday afternoon, it was slightly busy so I walked around and tried on some glasses. Everything was organized by brand, not prices or sizes. They had a large selection of glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses. I was drawn to the Ralph Lauren and Ray Bans. A sales associate asked me if I need assistance and I said not at the moment; another one was able to assist me once I was ready. I needed advice on what kind of glasses would fit my face and nose, since I have a lower bridge nose and she said the keyhole style and the ones with the nose pads would probably work better for my face/nose shape. I picked a handful that I tried on and liked the style and fit. I sat down with her and went over what I wanted or didn't want (blue light, no reflective lenses, warranty, insurance, etc). I wore it and she sized it out for me. She said they will text me once it's ready, I paid, and I was on my way. I got a text and the glasses were ready in two days! They fit perfectly and I can see clearly now. The one year warranty is $34.99 and covers scratches and if it breaks (not theft or loss). I didn't get the sales associate's name. Overall, a good experience and I would definitely use them again.

I explained this to both managers there, who immediately said, "This prescription is what you told the doctor was correct, LensCrafters made you lenses based on your eye exam, therefore it is not LensCrafters' fault." The managers were hostile and rude. They later found out that the lenses were made from my expired prescription, yet they did not apologize. They had no lenses made, but again, the prescription was off and I was chastised a second time. This time, the managers said that "this is what you told the optimist and we will not give you a refund." Avoid this place! What a miserable experience. The other LensCrafters were not any better. I ended up going to a independent doctor and purchased my lenses and frames from another store.

I've been a patient here for about 20 years, going back to their old location in Old Avon Village when they were pretty much next door to Bruegger's Bagels. Really nice staff -everyone I interacted with (reception, technician, and Dr. Dolin) were very courteous, pleasant and professional. I was seen at my pre-determined appointment time with no delays. If you need a nice friendly eye doctor- here's your guy.

Looking for a new Doc as I have recently moved to the area. Initially office seemed great,…read morefriendly staff and there is a dog who hangs out there. Went for a basic eye exam with dialated eye exam. Doc did not do the dialated eye exam, and I didn't understand why at the time, he just said I didn't need it. Paid my co-pay and left, thinking I was all set. I now get a bill for $100. Called the office and it ends up instead of doing the dialated exam, which would be covered, Dr. Fitzpatrick took pictures of my retina instead, which is not covered by insurance and is an "extra" procedure. I do not appreciate extra procedures being done with out me knowing especially if they are not covered under insurance. The office assistant said Dr. Fitzpatrick makes it part of the routine eye exam. I have never had to pay more than my copay at the eye doc unless I have been first informed and then been able to make a decision. Seems dishonest to me.

My son went in for a long overdue appointment and the need to update glasses and contact lenses and the optometrist was terrific and extremely knowledgeable. Dominic was so helpful with the frame selection process and assisting with sizing, shape, and size. Today I had to urgently replace a 10 year old broken glasses frame and Dominic went into the back room and came out with a piece that fit exactly, free of charge. This is a great find and I would highly recommend this shop and the professional team that work there.
