I got a prescription after my eye exam, from the doctor's office located within this LensCrafters (Envision 2020). After researching their website, I figured out which style of glasses I wanted. I walked in on a Monday afternoon, it was slightly busy so I walked around and tried on some glasses. Everything was organized by brand, not prices or sizes. They had a large selection of glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses. I was drawn to the Ralph Lauren and Ray Bans. A sales associate asked me if I need assistance and I said not at the moment; another one was able to assist me once I was ready. I needed advice on what kind of glasses would fit my face and nose, since I have a lower bridge nose and she said the keyhole style and the ones with the nose pads would probably work better for my face/nose shape. I picked a handful that I tried on and liked the style and fit. I sat down with her and went over what I wanted or didn't want (blue light, no reflective lenses, warranty, insurance, etc). I wore it and she sized it out for me. She said they will text me once it's ready, I paid, and I was on my way. I got a text and the glasses were ready in two days! They fit perfectly and I can see clearly now. The one year warranty is $34.99 and covers scratches and if it breaks (not theft or loss). I didn't get the sales associate's name. Two bad experiences at Avon CT Lenscrafters, both involving a pair of glasses I had bought from Lenscrafters and had had the frames adjusted there several times. The first problem was that they said they could not get me a new pair of frames like the ones I had to go with my lenses. So I left that day. Then most recently, when those frames broke, I went back in and asked for two things: 1) Help with taping my broken frames back together as I had no backup pair; they couldn't do that and 2) I asked them to make me a new pair of glasses with a new prescription. I started looking at frames and then after they had already seen my new prescription as if they could fill it, they then said they could not make me new lenses based on my prescription. Bad service all around for a long-time customer who had purchased frames and lenses from them several times. Unlikely to go back there at this rate. I give them zero stars. read more

Had an eye exam at the Optician's office in the store. When I received both pairs of glasses, I could not see clearly. I explained this to both managers there, who immediately said, "This prescription is what you told the doctor was correct, LensCrafters made you lenses based on your eye exam, therefore it is not LensCrafters' fault." The managers were hostile and rude. They later found out that the lenses were made from my expired prescription, yet they did not apologize. They had no lenses made, but again, the prescription was off and I was chastised a second time. This time, the managers said that "this is what you told the optimist and we will not give you a refund." Avoid this place! What a miserable experience. The other LensCrafters were not any better. I ended up going to a independent doctor and purchased my lenses and frames from another store. read more

What can be worse than an eyeglass emergency? How about a Sunday eyeglass emergency? Saturday night I took off my glasses to go to bed. As I was folding the sides closed, I heard a "crack" and all of a sudden my glasses were in two pieces. Damn !!! The local LencCrafters has Sunday hours and I was there when they opened up. The old frame couldn't be salvaged because the internal spring had snapped. My next hope on the monetary severity scale was trying to move the old lenses into a new frame. I was waited on by a wonderful lady named Lyudmila. She looked up my records, said my broken frames were from 2005, so they most definitely were no longer in stock. Her challenge now was to find something in stock that would accommodate my odd sized progressive lenses. She put them into one pair that "fit" but not to her standards -she said she didn't want to sell me that. She went through the inventory and found a better fit, She checked the bridge distance, found it to be off by a few millimeters, and adjusted it 3 times until my vision was exactly where it was yesterday. She was so patient, so meticulously dedicated to perfection, so determined to make the right product work for me, and so professional, I was thrilled. 3/14/2020 I had an eye appointment at 12pm I arrived at 12:09 I was late my fault. And they gave my timeslot away why for being 8min late. The next appointment was at 3:30 I mean I was only 9min late and drove 40min to get there. I cant believe they dont have a window for people arriving late before giving my appointment away. I get it I was not on time there was traffic covid 19 virus and everyone driving like idiots. We love this Lenscrafters location nestled in Avon Marketplace. We recently stopped in for a pair of "replacement" glasses for my son as he had misplaced his regular pair and didn't have a spare. I called ahead to see if we could bring in our regular eye doctor's prescription (yes) and how quickly we could get a new pair (that day or the next, depending on the type of glasses my son wanted). When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Angelina, whom I had spoken with on the phone earlier. She took care of our insurance info while my son looked for glasses amongst the massive variety the store carries. When he couldn't find a pair he liked (teenagers!), Angelina ended up picking out a pair of Ray-Bans on the first try that my son loved and ended up choosing. Angelina took my son's measurements and that was that. Insurance saved us a lot of money (although kids 14 and under currently save 50% on all glasses and lenses if you don't have insurance) and we made sure to add a protection plan for $34.95 that covers everything - and I mean EVERYTHING except theft and loss (trust me, we've used it in the past too many times to count) - just in case. Although Angelina was honest that we would likely not be able to pick up the glasses until the following day, we were pleasantly surprised to get a text just 2.5 hours later saying the glasses were ready! We went back to the store, my son tried on his glasses (which fit like a glove), and all was right with the world again. Lenscrafters is the fast food joint of eyeglasses. The only reason to use one is either because of convenience or because of good customer service. We have had some great customer service people work with us at various locations. Marie at the Avon Lenscrafters is not on of them. Snippy, disinterested, rude, abrupt, instead of attempting to do our minor repair (the replacement of a screw) she tried to upsell us repeatedly on replacing perfectly good frames. Good service can make up for not having the best product. Marie was the worst customer service person we've encountered at any Lenscrafters on either coast. read more

Ever since I can remember, I've not been a fan of wearing glasses, even when I've needed them! However, as of two years ago, after buying the most expensive pair I could find (always happens that way, they looked best), I've loved the way I look in glasses. The group here at the Avon location are superb! Very helpful and friendly. My adventure today however, started at the West Farms location, which, if you've ever been, is always a zoo. I've had my eye on a pair of super geeky dark blue (check out the picture I uploaded) pair of Ray Ban glasses. I've always dreamed of being a pin up model wearing a pair of these things, but have never found a pair I completely fell in love with. Until today. Not sure why I've ever seen this particular shape (same as the original shape, but wider and a bit bigger) but I found them and now they're all mine!!!! I put them on hold at the mall location (I have an eye exam tomorrow), even though they were terribly stretched out from the millions of people who have probably tried them on in the past day, with the promise that when I leave the store they will be 'cleaned up'. After that woeful conversation, I basically b-lined it to the Avon location in search of a nicer, less used pair! They had them!! Even though I had to purchase them sans prescription lenses only to have to go back to the mall tomorrow for my eye exam, I was still treated well and everyone was super friendly!! I saw a local eye doctor and took my prescription to Lens Crafters in Avon, the day I ordered the glasses I had a great experience and the man who helped me was so sweet and professional (I wish I knew his name!)-he even gave me a coupon when I was surprised by the high cost of my glasses. However, yesterday I picked them up and the man working the desk had me try the glasses on then said "you know you need to wear these all of the time, right?" to which I responded and told him I thought they were only for reading and that my vision was completely distorted with the glasses on. He told me it would take a week for my eyes to adjust. Fine, whatever. I drove home wearing the glasses and tried to wear them as much as he recommended. I sincerely struggled driving and could not even walk in a straight line. With this being my first pair of glasses, I assumed the adjustment period was normal. I called my eye doctor today and he confirmed that my glasses are only for reading and was stunned that someone told me to drive with them on. My prescription is for convergence insufficiency and the prisms are incredibly strong. I am still pleased with the service I received my first day visiting Lens Crafters, however the fact that someone made an assumption and essentially put my life in danger by instructing me to operate a vehicle with near sighted prism lenses is completely unacceptable. read more

I purchased glasses about 7 months ago from this store and I've had problems from day one. The glasses did not fit well when they were purchased and I've gone back more than 5 times to have them adjusted. Each time I went in I was met with poor customer service and rudeness. Today iwent in and asked for a manager and spoke with Erin. When I showed her my glasses at the front desk she immediately said they looked normal to her. This was frustrating for me because I explained that the way the frame was bent forward from my last adjustment with them I couldn't see well with my multi focus lenses. Eventually a man did help me and I hope the adjustment he made will last for more than a week or two. If I managed this store I would not want Erin to have any contact with my customers. the service here is awful, no one knows what they are doing. i've already been in to the store 3 times today and was just told i would have to return for a 4th time. they messed up a simple order of new glasses, forgot about the lenses that go in them and the insurance i had to cover them. they didn't think to tell me that i needed my old glasses to get my new pair. after waiting an hour for the lenses to be put in, i couldn't even pick up my new glasses because no on in the store was paying attention to what they were and weren't telling me. honestly i think this store needs to get rid of the current employees and replace them with someone with more than 2 brain cells. read more

Terrible customer service. The lenses of my glasses which I bought at LensCrafters in Avon are defective and they refused to replace them even though I said I'd pay for new ones. The employees were extremely rude and gave me the runaround. I was referred from one employee to another to another and it was obvious that none of them were actually interested in helping me even though there were no other customers that needed help. At one point the manager actually excused me of not having purchased my glasses there and then she said that my last eye exam was only for contacts, which is downright ridiculous. Go to another branch (West Farms or Enfield are terrific!). This place used to have much better customer care technicians. Since August, I have walked out 4 times, after waiting 25-40 minutes to get my son's glasses adjusted, and last week to get new lenses for my daughter. The place has been packed (no sign in or numbers to ensure your place in line), and I've gone when both techs are with people & or we were the only people waiting to be seen; no one has looked up to welcome or acknowledge that they noticed us (waiting in this store means sitting on a bench staring at them). 40 minutes is a long time to wait unacknowledged; very unprofessional. It was well worth the drives to West Farms Mall (where you sign-in & are greeted) and to Enfield (where we were immediately greeted even with a busy store). The manager, Damon, has been too busy to receive calls the two times I called & he was not there the final time I tried to "shop locally". Note: there was a wonderful technician named Carrie who used to work here, who always was responsive to customers who waited. She wasn't in the store the last 4 times I went. read more

I am not one to complain but I will not go to a Lens Crafters again. Today I returned for a 2nd time after my 1st appointments was running late - an hour. Today the receptionist could not get my insurance taken care of and basically told me she was done trying. I left and then outside called my insurance myself-returned inside and was not able to be seen due to now being late for my own appointment. They would not take me . I had excellent customer service experience from one person in particular. The representative who helped me was named Damon. I had been mugged the night before and my glasses had been stolen from me. The police were unresponsive and unsympathetic, as were the EMTs and everyone who was supposed to be helping me during this traumatic experience. I was so surprised to be getting the care and help that I needed from my Lenscrafters salesperson. Damon was patient, respectful, and sincere with his response to my situation. I have been in the store when it's been very busy but it never fails that he stops what he is doing to say hello. I have been to LensCrafters before and was satisfied. Yesterday, Wednesday 2/15/17 I stopped because my husband broke his glasses the night before. He has been having serious health issues and we couldn't go get a new pair of glasses right now that required his participation. The frame had broken. I went to two other shops before and had no hope when I arrived. Damon took charge. ( I hope I spelled his name correctly). He assessed the frame couldn't be repaired, but wanted to check something else. He found a pair of frames into which my husband's lenses could be inserted. He did it quickly and calmly. I was here today to get new glasses. I have a simple reading gLass prescription. I brought you script to the man at the front desk and proceeded, with ATTITUDE, to tell me it was expired. Ok, no problem. Could have told me that a nicer way. Anyway, I shook it off and began to look at glasses. The man was on his phone constantly and when he looked up, he would give me an eyebrow raIse of disgust whatever pair I had on at that moment. He was really no help and felt like I was just being watched. I decided if I'm not going to get glasses with lenses, I might as well not get any at all here. I just feel really upset because I had gotten my first pair here about 4 years ago and also had a bad experience. Too bad it's in such a good location but with such poor customer service. I went into this LensCrafter after I had a problem with my lenses, they solved the problem quickly and the Supervisor was very polite and customer oriented, he really cared about the problem and worked to find a solution. Their glasses are very stylish. I had a horrible experience today at this Lenscrafters. I was ignored for over 30 minutes. No one said hello when I entered and no one wanted to help. I had $1,200 to spend to kill my FSA and they did not want it. I picked out 3 frames, but walked out after I was completely ignored. One of the opticians was chatting to her friend that came in and did not care to do her job. I spoke with the manager that had a tattoo on his neck, that no doubt was the Chinese symbol for incompetence, he told me to have a seat and then waited on someone that came in after me. I walked out after wasting another 10 minutes. With sites like coastal.com that offer a first free pair of glasses and have prices at less than half that of this place, you figure the service would be good, but it isn't. The service is non existent. Do yourself a favor and check out coastal.com. They have a 1 year return policy even. This is where I am getting my glasses right now. read more

I walked into Lenscrafters earlier today with the hopes of getting my frames fixed as they were slightly bent. I was also planning on getting new lenses because it was time for a new prescription. Upon entering, I was greeted by an employee named Christian. I told him that I wanted to get the frames adjusted to straighten them out. He took a brief look at them, and quickly said "Well I could try, but I'd probably break them." Being on a budget and without a warranty on the frames, I decided just to get the lenses replaced. When I asked him if this was possible, he responded with "What do you mean?" I had to repeat about three or four times before he could grasp what I was asking. However, the entire time I was explaining this, I could see his facial expression begin to change. He no longer took me as a serious customer, but instead he actually started laughing at some of my remarks, and even rolled his eyes a few times. When he finally understood what I was saying, he replied "Oh, well the manufacturers would simply take one look at the frame and say no we can't do it." I tried explaining my point further, but eventually I found myself in a vicious cycle of asking a question, him responding "What do you mean?" and then spending a few minutes to explain myself while he held a smug smirk on his face. I eventually got tired of his condescending tone, degrading chuckles, and overall demeanor so I left the store. One thing that baffled me was that the manufacturers couldn't replace my lenses separately from the frame. I tried to explain to Christian that I could pop the old lenses completely out of my frame and pop them back in without damaging either one. This would allow the manufacturers to craft new prescription lenses using the old ones as a guide to keep the same shape and size to fit my frames. Christian laughed at this idea, but is it really that far-fetched? People are starting to use 3D printers in their homes which can replicate objects and print them, but Lenscrafters really can't do the same thing commercially? I find it very hard to believe that Lenscrafters lacks the necessary technology to duplicate a lens with the correct size, shape, and prescription. To say that I am dissatisfied with the customer service and company protocol is an understatement. Unfortunately Lenscrafters doesn't have much competition currently, which is most likely why they can get away with treating their customers the way that they do. However, imagine a few years from now when people can start downloading and printing their own frames, and lenses. Guess what, you won't have to pay well over a $100 for a pair of glasses either. Right now people are compliant with overpaying for a pair of glasses, and even being mistreated in the process. However, soon enough, the public will wake up. Sincerely, ex-customer read more

Terrible service, I needed glasses for my son..we live close to avon so it's very convenient, however they did not offer my sons size in sports glasses...which is fine, however zero advice was given as to how to buy them in his size...
