I…read morewas given an appointment card, when I came in they told me my appointment had been rescheduled. I asked why I wasn't informed, they had no answer. Then they closed "temporarily". I asked for my medical records so I could give then to a new doctor. I called, got no answers, I texted, no answers. When I finally got to talk to someone they asked which doctor I was going to. I told them it doesn't concern them, I need my records, please. They told me I had to download a patient records request form and mail it. I did and received nothing. I started all over again 6 weeks later. I found an email address and told them that if I didn't get my records I would get the AGs office involved as itbis my right to have my records. They said they couldn't find my initial request but they needed a request, could I resend? I did, certified mail. That day they called and left a vm stating they found the initial letter and have mailed the records. Sight MD has ruined the former Fitchman practice by getting too big too quick, lack of staffing and lessening the quality of care.

I can't say enough good things about this location. My husband had cataract surgery with Fichman,…read morethe initial appointments and follow up's were in Torrington but the surgery was in Manchester and he came out with 20/20 vision and was extremely happy with the whole experience. Fast forward a couple of years hubby comes down with a case of shingles on his head that also affected his left eye. I called around to make an appointment and was told, well we can fit you in in 2-3+++ months...blah blah. Then it came to me, Fichman!!! Called and the angel Merrell said "we consider this a medical emergency" and got us in the same day! It has been a tough road with loss of vision and another emergency same day visit with a flair up but this office has done everything they could possibly do with no delays and with the utmost compassion. I truly believe if we didn't get an appointment quickly my husband would probably be blind in that eye now. Many thanks and forever grateful!!!

I had an appointment here a few days ago, and this was my first time visiting the Torrington…read morelocation after always going to the New Milford office. This review is really two parts because one aspect of my visit was outstanding, while the other was extremely disappointing. I don't think employees who do an excellent job should receive a poor review because of decisions completely outside of their control. The real reason I'm writing this review, and the true highlight of my visit, was the technician who helped me, Sophia. Sophia was incredibly kind, professional, attentive, patient, and genuinely caring throughout my appointment. She turned what started as an experience that had me frustrated and ready to walk out into one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a very long time. If it hadn't been for her, I honestly don't believe I would have stayed to finish my appointment. I'm not someone who writes reviews. In fact, this is the first review I've ever written. That's how impressed I was with Sophia. Her communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to keep me informed every step of the way were exceptional. What impressed me most wasn't just her technical ability, it was her emotional intelligence. She could tell I was frustrated before I had to say much, yet she remained calm, patient, respectful, and reassuring the entire time. She listened to my concerns, answered every question I had, and treated me with genuine empathy. She completely changed the direction of my visit simply by making me feel heard. Sophia never made me feel like I was being helped by "just a technician." She was confident, knowledgeable, and explained every step of the process so well that I felt completely comfortable in her care. If nobody had told me she wasn't the doctor, I never would have questioned it. My frustration wasn't with Sophia, it was with MyEyeDoctor's decision to schedule me with a virtual doctor. Personally, I believe an eye exam is one of the last medical appointments that should be done virtually. Vision care should involve an in-person doctor. After Sophia completed nearly the entire exam, we waited about 20 minutes for the virtual doctor, whose portion of the appointment lasted only about two minutes. She spoke briefly, didn't ask if I had any questions, and disconnected almost immediately. The interaction felt rushed and impersonal, and it simply wasn't the level of care I've come to expect after nearly 15 years as a patient. I can confidently say I will never choose another virtual eye appointment. That being said, employees like Sophia are the reason customers remain loyal. She represented MyEyeDoctor with professionalism, integrity, compassion, and genuine care. She didn't just provide outstanding customer service, she retained a customer. I walked in prepared to leave frustrated and seriously consider finding another provider. I walked out because of Sophia. I sincerely hope someone in management reads this because employees like Sophia deserve to be recognized. Outstanding employees often don't receive the credit they deserve, and I wanted to make sure hers didn't go unnoticed. I've been a MyEyeDoctor patient for nearly 15 years. If it weren't for Sophia, this appointment likely would have been the one that caused me to leave. She was the reason I stayed. Thank you, Sophia. You turned what could have been a terrible experience into one that reminded me why exceptional employees make all the difference. The virtual doctor may have signed my prescription, but Sophia was the one who provided my care. If MyEyeDoctor wants to know what outstanding patient care looks like, they already have the perfect example working in their Torrington office. Her name is Sophia.

Following suite, my request for my own medical records, something I am unequivocally entitled to as part of my HIPAA rights, was immediately followed by the termination of care not only for me, but also for my wife and my five-year-old son. This sequence of events strongly suggests their decision was retaliatory in nature. It is particularly troubling that my child's care was discontinued despite him having no involvement in this matter. You can see the letter sent to a five year old! Terminating treatment for a minor under these circumstances reflects poorly on this practice's judgment and raises ethical concerns. Though we found the doctor to be very good, there were repeated instances of unprofessional and dismissive behavior from their front desk staff (a trend, I see, according to other reviews). These included: -Resistance to addressing a defect in an expensive, newly purchased lens -Dismissive communication when I attempted to clarify that I had not received my prescription -A general unwillingness to acknowledge that patients are legally entitled to receive their prescriptions without needing to request them These experiences demonstrated a pattern of prioritizing administrative convenience and financial interests over patient respect and basic professional courtesy. This practice's response to a lawful records request--culminating in termination of care--only reinforced our concerns. Patients should not feel that exercising their legal rights will result in punitive action.

When I was waiting and asked her staff why I had to wait, I was told that she wasn't even in the office yet and they don't know when she will be in. I scheduled an 8:00am appointment every time and recently discovered that her first appointment isn't until 8:30am. Two problems here...If she doesn't get in until 8:30am why did I have to wait an extra 30 minutes until roughly 9:00am? Second is there is ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. She told me she would have a firm talk with her staff and they shouldn't be making 8:00am appointments. I don't buy it. Instead of throwing your staff under the bus, how about apologizing and making it right for the patient. Second, Every time when she came in to the treatment room, she was on her computer for 15 minutes with her back to me looking at her notes and then she would ask me questions as if she has never seen me before.
