The beauty of the grand room ,complete with chandeliers above and so many eyeglasses to try on, made me feel that this would be a fun experience for sure. No exaggeration, finding Dr Sheen and this vision center was one of the best things to happen to me in 2018. It wasn't until my insurance changed and I was forced out of my comfort zone to find a place that was covered, that I researched and ended up choosing Eye Life Vision. Staff at front desk are friendly and helpful. The intake forms are tricky and need some revisiting (the idea of wipe off markers on laminated forms is good in theory but when the makers start to wear this just turns into a mess). But we're here for glasses and contacts, and this is what I'm reviewing. Dr. Sheen answered all my questions, spent significant time checking my eyes, catching an issue that had previously been overlooked by my last Optometrist, was thorough, answered all my questions and was very personable. I was worried I wouldn't find frames that would fit my head correctly but we did (and they rock!). Dr and front desk staff helped me with rebates for my contacts as well. It added up to $$ but given I chose the most expensive frames available I can't complain. The lenses for my glasses were made by a lab that makes Nikon camera lenses (I believe this is what she said) and are extremely high quality. I have NEVER seen so clearly and well with glasses. I literally almost cried when I put them on. Completely blown away, I still can't believe how well I can see. Nearing 60 years of age, I've had a wide range of optometrists over the years. I've been a patient of Dr. Sheens for the last two years or so. I'm trying to think of the words to express how thankful I am to be her patient. It seems every time I meet with her, I'm more impressed than the last time. Why? Because she's so thorough. And listens. She takes her time so she doesn't miss anything. She's kind and empathetic. She actually even personally helped me pick a frame on my last visit! Normally, it takes me a good 20-30 minutes and sometimes more to pick a frame. When she assisted me, I was done within 10 minutes! She helped me find the correct frame for my facial structure and what looked good on me! I was shocked b/c that was "record time" for me! She later told me she personally picks out every frame in the office and knows what frames fit her patients best. Honestly, I couldn't be happier and more satisfied in being her patient. I'm definitely in good hands and my daughter is going to her now as well. I followed Dr. Sheen here from South Windsor and have not regretted it. I have a very difficult prescription to fill and she's been able to adjust it to the point where I am seeing very well. State of the equipment definitely helps, as does also being the optician and being able to provide the best possible lenses available. I have diabetes, and her preventive care and examinations have been very thorough. I also have high risk for glaucoma, and she's been good about following up with that. She's also provided the required reports to my primary care physician. She and her staff are all very nice and pleasant to work with. They are good about taking the time to work with you and never rush you. Dr. Sheen is very willing to take the time to explain everything and answer any questions. They have also been very helpful with adjusting appointments when I've had sudden changes in travel arrangements that prevented me from making it. Her new office is lovely, and they have a good inventory of frames and glasses to choose from. As I said before, the diagnostic equipment is state of art and included quite a few capabilities I have never seen before. They definitely did not hold back when investing in the diagnostic equipment. The prices for the eye exams are reasonable. They provide fairly large discounts if you pay direct without involving insurance. The glasses were expensive but were fairly priced given the very high quality level and the complexity of the prescription. They do provide a full warranty on the glasses for a year. In summary, I've been very happy with Dr. Sheen and Eye-Life Vision Center, and I will continue to go there for my vision care. read more
