The plus side: The office is very friendly especially the woman at the front desk. They had a great selection of frames including Coach, Versace, Calvin Klein, Ed Hardy and a few other designers. Prices were a lot better than your Lens Crafters or Pearle Vision stores. My appointment was at 3 and they took me at 3:02 so there wasn't a huge wait. Dr. Conrod was extremely personable and polite and explained my many options for eye care. The negative: The tech or whomever that I first saw was really rude and possessed the listening skills of a toddler. If I have to explain to you multiple times in a five minute conversation that I mainly wear glasses and rarely wear contacts and I want to wear contacts daily and use my glasses as a back up, you really are not listening to me at all. It's frustrating to be a new patient with a new provider and have the staff treat you like you're stupid and you wouldn't possibly understand your own eye care or eye health. In a similar vein, the woman at the front desk gave me the fifth degree over my insurance plan, corrected what I said and then ended up being wrong. However she, unlike the tech or whatever, apologized and corrected her mistake. Honestly? LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS! If it wasn't for the doctor himself, I would have gone elsewhere. I'm hoping that when I go back to for my contact lens follow up, I have a better experience.

Well, that was the 1st I have heard that I had cataracts, and I told her there was no way in the world she was going to operate on my eyes. She said that she may not allow me to drive. Now, I can decide if I'm safe to drive or not. I asked her if she was legally required to report it to the DMV and she said no, but sometimes she does - well, first, that's illegal. That is against HIPPA. Second, I am NOT going to let anyone bully me into something I am not comfortable with - especially with SOMEONE I'm not comfortable with. For that, alone, I will never go back to them. Also, though, the visit before that, I think I got the wrong script for my glasses because the glasses I had were not good, and she said my eyes got better - I know for a fact that was not true. I still haven't gotten my new prescription...

Sadly, the prescription that I use for my dry eyes is VERY expensive ($250) but the eye drs always write up the prior authorization so the insurance will pay. Well, I called FIVE times last week and left messages bc no one was calling back. They ignored my calls every time. I spoke to Miranda who could have cared LESS! I did MY job, I made the appointment and showed up on time and paid my bill. This office has NO CARE to do THEIR job-to return a phone call and fill out the paperwork! I am so disheartened and frustrated! If there was ONE light at the end of the tunnel, I was able to get a hold of a different office in Deep River. There is a LOVELY lady named Donna who actually answered the phone (shocker) and called CVS and called me back to follow up. The problem still is not solved, but having someone in the office that gets back to me is a huge win. I am hoping to get this problem solved. :(

As politely as I can say this.....never, EVER again!!!! Last 6 months have been so difficult…read more Insurance issues. They never bothered to submit to insurance (never told me) and when I was due to pick up glasses they told me I could get the frames now and the lenses in a year! Of what benefit is that? It took an entire day for ME, without their help, never disclosing they failed to submit to insurance and were deceptive about ordering glasses three weeks prior, to straighten this entire mess out. An unbelievable nightmare. They finally submitted to insurance and immediate coverage of course but I had to wait an additional three weeks for glasses to come in for a total of six weeks unable to see. They never offered to expedite. Then the glasses come in and I can not see a thing through them. I was told to keep wearing and get used to them. Could NOT see. Had horrible headaches from straining to see. Then the final visit for a lens prescription change when the frustrated doctor changed the exam lenses so fast that vertigo was brought on snapping at me "which one you see better" and my ability to answer because I could not either. I just guessed to stop him from snapping at me. Finally I could not take it anymore, gave up, left in tears NEVER to return EVER again! They were good upon initial opening. Now it is incredibly difficult and I truly do not want to leave this bad review but hopefully the Dr and the VERY, VERY rude staff will understand there is very real problem that needs to be addressed. Customer service is horrendous. Horrendous! Now I know why. If the doctor is snappy of course the staff would be the same and incredibly incompetent as well. I hope they can fix their issues, I truly do. As long as nobody messes up they are adequate however if there is an issue you are in for one heck of a long, impossible nightmare.

I could list a few more positives however I…read moream compelled to share the down sides because I think this office could do a better job if more people would give them constructive feedback. I suspect that the majority of patients they see are not into the social thing so any poor experiences would most likely not be posted. Anyway here is my experience: 1. Professional Staff? Other than the doctor herself and a lab tech, my interaction was with the elaborately decked out adolescent staff members, pasted with makeup and extremely long flashy fingernails (I suspect someone's daughters). I felt I had entered the lobby of "Teen Magazine" or something like that. Definitely did not make me feel I was dealing with professional offices (or maybe I'm from the wrong generation. I don't know). 2. Get what you pay for? They did not provide the full service they are billing insurance for. I told the Dr. I had seen a retinal specialist in the past. Therefore did not give a full test for glaucoma or diabetic issues (I am diabetic), she said "I'll leave it to them do this". Didn't bother to ask if I was still seeing them and it didn't occur to me to question her at the time (had a senior moment). Once home I called the office to state my disappointment, wanted to have the full service due to me. Manager said she'd look into it. Almost a month now, no one has called me back. 3. Reasonable Delivery Date - Supposably about 14 day delivery for new glasses however mine took over 3 weeks to receive. No one called to alert me to the delay. So I called, was told they had to be remade due to breakage. OK, but still 3 weeks? The basic response was it was because of my health care provider stating THEY required them to use a lab that Durham Eye Care does not use. Well, nice if they would have told me this before I order my expensive glasses from them. At that price I would have ordered from another supplier had I know this. I needed something quick. 4. Did not give me a copy of my prescription. I emailed them stating I needed a copy and to please forward it to me. Going on 4 days not...crickets....no one calls back. 5. Voicemail - You get voice mail a lot with them. Can't understand why, they seem to be staffed well enough (including the kids). I don't bother leaving messages, too frustrating. Personal/General Observation - The medical industry has evolved in to point where patient care and service is secondary to healthcare management. I've experienced this with many family members in a number of health related offices. Here, this office has been non responsive AFTER the service. Call the health provider to inquire and report an issue, you struggling to communicate with service representative in the Philippines, Mexico, Nicaragua, etc. By its own nature a deterrent for the patient to pursue or petition a corrective action. Take the above four comments for what it is worth.
