I thought I was saving money using BJs optical bc I didn't have insurance. The customer service and…read morewomen working there were very kind; the exam was done over a video visit w a provider. I get my prescription from BJs and go and order a year supply of contacts and expensive designer glasses. Immediately when I get my glasses I notice My vision is so blurry, i get headaches I've never gotten before, I can't see to drive and I keep tripping. Long story short, I went to an a reputable eye doctor bc I was so worried that something was wrong with my eyes. He did an exam and compared my prescription with BJs and it is completely off, the astigmatism correction is incorrect, the lens strength and curvature was completely off, not even close. Now I had to order new lenses for my glasses and a year supply of totally new contacts. It ended up costing me twice the cost . I'm so disappointed I trusted BJs optical and now I'm out OVER a grand between these eye doctor visits, contact fittings, glasses , contacts etc. I just feel others should know this too, and I think it should be looked into.

I do not believe you need a membership to use there services for Optical. Eye exam was thorough and efficient. Overall took standard time 30min to an hour . Doctor and technician are on zoom call and able to operate machinery effortlessly and effectively. Speakers and microphones are fully capable to utilize and facilitate seamless communication on zoom. Would recommend. At my appointment was 74.99 just for eye exam single vision (it was the same last year as well). They call you to confirm and for pricing before you go. Exam is made online and very easy to do. You do obtain paper prescription and ability to have them emailed for convenience. Any other specific needs needing specialist care would be a referral for your own choice of care provided..

I had an appointment here a few days ago, and this was my first time visiting the Torrington…read morelocation after always going to the New Milford office. This review is really two parts because one aspect of my visit was outstanding, while the other was extremely disappointing. I don't think employees who do an excellent job should receive a poor review because of decisions completely outside of their control. The real reason I'm writing this review, and the true highlight of my visit, was the technician who helped me, Sophia. Sophia was incredibly kind, professional, attentive, patient, and genuinely caring throughout my appointment. She turned what started as an experience that had me frustrated and ready to walk out into one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a very long time. If it hadn't been for her, I honestly don't believe I would have stayed to finish my appointment. I'm not someone who writes reviews. In fact, this is the first review I've ever written. That's how impressed I was with Sophia. Her communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to keep me informed every step of the way were exceptional. What impressed me most wasn't just her technical ability, it was her emotional intelligence. She could tell I was frustrated before I had to say much, yet she remained calm, patient, respectful, and reassuring the entire time. She listened to my concerns, answered every question I had, and treated me with genuine empathy. She completely changed the direction of my visit simply by making me feel heard. Sophia never made me feel like I was being helped by "just a technician." She was confident, knowledgeable, and explained every step of the process so well that I felt completely comfortable in her care. If nobody had told me she wasn't the doctor, I never would have questioned it. My frustration wasn't with Sophia, it was with MyEyeDoctor's decision to schedule me with a virtual doctor. Personally, I believe an eye exam is one of the last medical appointments that should be done virtually. Vision care should involve an in-person doctor. After Sophia completed nearly the entire exam, we waited about 20 minutes for the virtual doctor, whose portion of the appointment lasted only about two minutes. She spoke briefly, didn't ask if I had any questions, and disconnected almost immediately. The interaction felt rushed and impersonal, and it simply wasn't the level of care I've come to expect after nearly 15 years as a patient. I can confidently say I will never choose another virtual eye appointment. That being said, employees like Sophia are the reason customers remain loyal. She represented MyEyeDoctor with professionalism, integrity, compassion, and genuine care. She didn't just provide outstanding customer service, she retained a customer. I walked in prepared to leave frustrated and seriously consider finding another provider. I walked out because of Sophia. I sincerely hope someone in management reads this because employees like Sophia deserve to be recognized. Outstanding employees often don't receive the credit they deserve, and I wanted to make sure hers didn't go unnoticed. I've been a MyEyeDoctor patient for nearly 15 years. If it weren't for Sophia, this appointment likely would have been the one that caused me to leave. She was the reason I stayed. Thank you, Sophia. You turned what could have been a terrible experience into one that reminded me why exceptional employees make all the difference. The virtual doctor may have signed my prescription, but Sophia was the one who provided my care. If MyEyeDoctor wants to know what outstanding patient care looks like, they already have the perfect example working in their Torrington office. Her name is Sophia.

I'm honestly so frustrated with my experience at My Eye Dr. I have been a patient for a long time &…read morealways had wonderful experiences until today. I had an appointment scheduled, and when they called to confirm, they mentioned it was a "virtual appointment in the office." Wait, what? Only one doctor does in-person appointments? Why on earth is that the case? That feels so strange for a practice that should be providing direct eye care, especially when the need for an in-person evaluation can vary so much. When I arrived at the office, they told me they were running a little bit behind, I had another appointment to get to, so I asked how behind & she said 30 minutes. Fine, I get it, things happen. But I waited over an hour for my virtual appointment. No one bothered to reach out ahead of time to let me know the delay, and that just feels incredibly unprofessional. If I were late for my appointment, I'm pretty sure I'd get rescheduled or not seen at all, so why is it acceptable for them to be this behind with no communication? The whole experience raises so many questions. Why is the in-person option so limited? Only one doctor doing in-person appointments? That doesn't seem like great eye care, especially when the purpose of these visits should be to ensure patients are getting personalized attention. I expect more transparency and respect for my time as a patient. Really disappointing overall. When I spoke to the virtual Dr, everything seemed rush, we had a miscommunication about the type of lenses I wanted and I just felt defeated leaving the exam room. I even asked if it was possible to try a different option and was told I'd be charged for that fitting, you're already fitting me, what do you mean? When I checked out, the woman checking me out (Mary I believe was her name) was shocked I was still there since my appointment was 2 hours prior to she apologized and was so super helpful to me. I told her I wasn't comfortable placing an order at this time. But if I decide to do so, I will speak with her directly.
