We managed an appointment within a week of calling -- very rare! -- and were taken to see the doctor with less than five minutes waiting. The exam was carefully done, eyes dilated, and the waiting precess comfortable. When it came time to pick out glasses we had a reasonable choice of affordable frames, though if you have the cash they have some really upscale frames (think Tiffany, Coach, etc.) They didn't push us to buy more, much appreciated, and they helped fit the frame and got us out in not much over an hour. We thought the doctor, the front desk staff and the young woman who fitted us were knowledgeable and helpful. This is not a large operation, but the interior is clean and they have a nice public restroom. Curiously, the outside of the building looks abandoned with grass and shrubs way overgrown. Somebody needs to fix that right away. We initially thought the place was shut down. But -- unless they get our prescription wrong or it is delayed arriving, we'll stick with four stars.

It happened with my primary care physician (as well as his replacement). It happened to my dentist. And it happened to my eye doctor. So that explains why in December 2015, I became a patient of Solinsky Eye Care when they took over my eye doctor's practice upon his retirement. Solinsky has ten locations across Connecticut, and I visit Dr. Jessica Olewnik at the Avon office. She has been fantastic to work with. She is friendly, personable, and extremely thorough and helpful. Solinsky is very proactive on keeping up with technology and industry advances. Did you have one of those field of vision exams? Just a few years ago, the current technology would have you stick your face into a contraption that reminded me of a submarine captain peering into a periscope, like Sean Connery did in "The Hunt for Red October". Well, that is no longer state of the art. Yesterday I had the same test using a Virtual Reality headset! And I have to mention Solinsky's Front Desk Associate (I'm embarrassed I can't remember her name) who may be the greatest goodwill ambassador I've ever seen in a medical setting. She's been there forever and is a holdover from Solinsky's predecessor.

Looking for a new Doc as I have recently moved to the area. Initially office seemed great,…read morefriendly staff and there is a dog who hangs out there. Went for a basic eye exam with dialated eye exam. Doc did not do the dialated eye exam, and I didn't understand why at the time, he just said I didn't need it. Paid my co-pay and left, thinking I was all set. I now get a bill for $100. Called the office and it ends up instead of doing the dialated exam, which would be covered, Dr. Fitzpatrick took pictures of my retina instead, which is not covered by insurance and is an "extra" procedure. I do not appreciate extra procedures being done with out me knowing especially if they are not covered under insurance. The office assistant said Dr. Fitzpatrick makes it part of the routine eye exam. I have never had to pay more than my copay at the eye doc unless I have been first informed and then been able to make a decision. Seems dishonest to me.

I've been a patient here for about 20 years, going back to their old location in Old Avon Village when they were pretty much next door to Bruegger's Bagels. The new place has tons of parking, a brand new roomy reception area, waiting rooms, offices and examination rooms. Really nice staff -everyone I interacted with (reception, technician, and Dr. Dolin) were very courteous, pleasant and professional. I was seen at my pre-determined appointment time with no delays. If you need a nice friendly eye doctor- here's your guy.
