Just don't waste your time there. Both my husband and I tried them recently. Everyone is clueless. No one respects appointments and you'll wait 20-30 minutes every time. If you're waiting for a contact lens trial, good luck. They will never call you but if you're willing to check in constantly with them, you'll eventually get another try. That's before we even get to more subjective matters such as how good the optometrists are at refraction and making judgments on complex prescriptions. The entire situation seemed like coersion and perhaps a scam. The week before calling and setting an appointment for an eyeglasses exam, two of us called on speaker phone and we both spoke with Lilliana who confirmed three times, after checking with her supervisor, that since I do not have insurance they do not need my birthdate (DOB) or social security number. Ironically, the person who I was on speaker phone with owns an eyewear business and she too knows that a birthdate (or SS#) is unnecessary when the patient does not have insurance. In the days of identity theft people must be cautious as to whom they dole out personal information. And that information is too often asked for when it's not needed. Yet, so many people have, without question, provided it. Then, two days before the appointment, Lilliana called to confirm the appt. and that they do not need a birthdate (DOB) or SS#. Upon arrival for the appointment, Karen asked for my birthdate so I explained the previous conversations I had with Lilliana, and that she had noted in the computer about those conversations. Karen then checked the computer and spoke with the supervisor and after awhile she said "OK" and then completed the exam in one of the rooms. Then, without introduction or a "Hello", Dr. Monique Velasco came up to me and brought me into another room. I asked who she was & she said she's the doctor. Cold as ice...not an ounce of kindness or professionalism. She then repeatedly attempted to get me to tell my DOB & kept telling me that she would not give me my eyeglass prescription without it. Then she left for approx. 25 minutes & returned with the same hogwash. I then spoke with the supervisor who fabricated a story that I had told them (all) that it was only on the phone that I wouldn't provide my DOB, thereby I'd provide it in-person. Really? So, out of all the phone conversations, confirmation to the two of us on speaker phone, AND in-person confirmation, they then created a false story in order to coerce me into providing information they don't need & even said they don't need it. IF, and only IF, it were true that I said I'd provide my DOB in-person, then how can it be true when Karen & I spoke about it IN-PERSON that I would not be providing that at any time? In-person is NOT on the phone! Yet, Karen gave the eye exam with her & the supervisior knowing that very fact. Clearly, they lied to attempt to cover their tracks & coerse me into giving my DOB by withholding my prescription. After more than one hour of that nonsense, I left. They owe me for the expense it cost me, of time, money, inconvenience, frustration, etc. to travel there/back and the over-an-hour time in their establishment. And, they owe me my prescription...and an accurate one. Additionally, they should provide a complimentary complete exam and eyewear. read more

I didn't read the reviews. I didn't have to wait for the doctor. I interacted with 4 staff members and every one treated me very well. Big smiles, strong knowledge of what they were doing. My RX is unusually strong and therefore is limited to certain lenses. They also know their product. They identified the solutions and explained them to me. I don't know what could have been so awful for so many reviewers. I think the optical sales industry is a poor model for establishing clients' confidence and trust. LensCrafters in south elgin transcended this. Stephan and Danny were true professionals. Very good experience depends on the people. read more

The staff is always amazing! I was nervous since Dr. Miranda was gone. Dr. Velasco was great. Very sweet and caring. Qiana and Sheila were amazing as well. I bought a pair of progressive glasses. They cost $785. I thought that was a big investment but wasn't worried because the claim you can return within 30 days. This is true but when I went back in to return them (I had a receipt and glasses in perfect condition) it wasn't so easy. I arrived and was asked what I needed. I shared that I wanted to make a return of some glasses. I was told to take a seat and wait while they helped sell several people their glasses. I waited for 30 minutes while the salespeople helped several people get fitted for prescriptions etc. I finally started to realize they wanted to try and help me find a new pair which is why I was seated. I then told the salesperson that I wanted to make a return and wasn't interested in another pair. He said it was their process. So I ended up waiting.... Don't bother with this location Make the drive to Stratford Mall I called So Elgin and they gave me incorrect information and when I called Lenscrafters at Stratford, they were so pleasant and helpful with totally different information! I called back to So Elgin and asked why the info was different and received no apology, just wondered who I spoke with. I questioned how the information could be soooo incorrect and they didn't seem to care! Stratford was very helpful with my problem and assisted in solving the eyeglass issue promptly and efficiently! read more

I waited for glasses to be delivered for over 2 weeks. That's too slow. The store didn't call me either, I called them twice. i usually go to For Eyes and their delivery is 1 week, and they call you. The optometrist was good at this location, but delivery of glasses should be faster. Customer service can improve. read more

I've never left a review before but I have to with this place. They are the biggest scammers and liars over the phone and to your face. They want your money but don't care about the service they should proved which they don't. PLEASE do not go there. Period. They lie when scheduling the appt. they lie when they charge you then they lie when you try to get your prescription information which you paid for during the exams. Can I give something zero stars. Called to book an appointment and was told "I ain't got no time for speaker phone you want to talk to me you fix that." Then I show up for my appointment and they didn't have me in the system. After being told to stay and they would get me in... I waited an hour and still wasn't in. I rebooked fir the next day. My husband waited on their assurance it would be less than 15 minutes for 2.5 hours. I'm here now for my rescheduled appointment and have been waiti f for more than 30 minutes..... There's a reason they have such a low rating! I've been there with my son 4 times now and don't have our lenses yet! If it wasn't for our insurance, we would have gone elsewhere. We just returned from there now after a 2nd week with a second set of trials.... my son forgot to put in his contacts and we just wanted to confirm that the lenses he had just trialed were good and we just wanted to order that prescription. They would not order without seeing him once again with them IN his eyes. So we need to make a 5th appointment just so they can confirm what we already know!! read more

Ordered contacts over the phone no reciept obtained in box had me go into location get rebate and receipt sent my husband only getting the rebate called said they would call back never received a call back. Quana office manager was very rude and had an tone when explaining they could not email me a reciept. "We don't do that." cut me off while I was talking trying to explain the situation after multiple interruptions hung up on me after holding called back multiple times with no answer until I called back from another number and finally an answer they are sending in mail now hope to receive the documents. Would not recommend this location and will not be doing business with them. read more

I was nervous switching locations as I had moved to the area and we always went to the one at Fox Valley Mall and loved Dr. Alexander. Logistically it didn't make sense to drive all the way out there. We took a chance and tried the So Elgin location. I'm happy to report that all was good. Dr. Velasco was very good and took her time to explain everything. I was there on Saturday morning and received my glasses by the next Wednesday. I never had that turn around at Fox Valley. All the staff were professional and extremely helpful. The frame selection was excellent. I found a frame I had wanted last year and Fox Valley didn't have it. read more

My daughter had a terrible experience here. They have an archaic way of ordering frames. Apparently their lab doesn't contact them when the frames are out of stock, they just find out when the glasses don't show up after two weeks! We were told her glasses would definitely come in before she left the country, but of course the frames were out of stock and the lab didn't bother to let them know. When the glasses finally did come, they left a message on a phone number that doesn't even exist! Save your time and money, don't go here! read more

I've been coming to this location for years and have always been satisfied.. honestly no complaints. My whole family gets there glasses here. I cannot believe all these bad reviews, however I do believe that if a customer approaches with an attitude you deserve attitude right back. Terrible service, employees always giving attitude, always problems with delivery doesn't matter what it is. I've ordered frames, contacts, sunglasses, and they've all been delayed. I was in here today to try and price out a new pair of frames. The staff just seemed like they couldn't be bothered. The lady who came to help me was rude and had no customer service skills whatsoever. She told me my prescription was not current so I wasn't able to purchase the frames.. I agreed to schedule an appointment for an exam and her response was "ok" and she walked away to help someone else. No attempt to try and help me schedule an appointment. I have to state up front that the Doctor that did my exam was very thorough and professional. The good experience ended there. The staff member that took care of me after, the exam was sorely lacking. It took a week longer than what was promised to get my glasses. After spending over $400 for one pair I couldn't believe how badly they made the glasses. I have no R/X in my right eye and only -2.50 in the left. They made the lenses out of two different materials. Polycarbonate for the left and plastic for the right. The right lense had a very distinct curve to it. So much so that the top of the lense would not seat in the frame. The frame broke two weeks after receiving them. Naturally breakage is not covered in their policy. They make garbage and mark their products up ridiculously high. The lack of precision in their craftsmanship is sorely lacking. Do your self a favor and go to WalMart. They at least have better replacement policies if there are problems. As to the reviews about how wonderful the staff are in the store front, I must have gone to another store. When picking up my glasses there were two staff assisting one women with their opinions about how frames she was looking at looked on her face for ten minutes, while they left me sitting to pick up my glasses. read more

If there was a way to give this place a negative star review I would. My daughter and I had an initial consultation in February 2017 and we had a wonderful experience with the Doctor and the salesperson. Purchased my glasses and we got contacts (for a year) and glasses for my daughter. My daughter had problems with her contacts and made appointment to return and purchase new ones. We had the worse customer service I had ever received. We talked the office manager Quiana and treated us like dirt. First she told us that she only had one appointment available at 3 and we took it Had to make some changes on previous commitments. We arrived to the office and was packed no one greeted us or even acknowledge us. We noticed how Quiana acknowledged other customers when I finally said something she asked another representative to check us in and told us that the appointment was at 11:00. Quiana was very rude and even made comments to other customer about us. Regret going here. The office Manager Quiana is extremely rude and and complete liar. read more

My closer store closed and I made the mistake of going to a closer competitor. The helpful patient staff at this location verified my suspicions about the competitor product. Well, sad to say but I have decided not to deal with this store any more. Dr. Miranda is very good, but the staff are ridiculous. I spent over $1000 on two pairs of glasses here. I wanted to have my measurements so I could get a cheap backup pair to have in case I was wearing sunglasses in the car and didn't have my regular glasses with me. I picked up my prescription but the full measurements were not on it. I called and first was told that they could not provide the information. I insisted on talking to a manager - she (Melissa) said they could give me the information but I would have to come in and get it on paper because it would be a HIPPA violation to tell me that. I asked her to ask me their privacy questions and she refused. So the only way to get the information was to take my time to drive to the store. Well, I drove there and got it - but I returned their overpriced glasses and will no longer deal with them. read more
