They won't allow any negative reviews on their site. Don't believe their 5-star rating. I purchased a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarer Stories. When I purchased these, I was told that transition lenses weren't available, now they are. These frames offer ZERO adjustability. The location made me feel rushed and that I was inconveniencing them. I wanted those glasses but they didn't have adequate information about the frames to help me. The nose slides down constantly as the arms (or whatever they're called) aren't long enough to loop behind my ears. I tried going back for adjustments but as I said, there is no adjustability. If I could return these I would, but as it is, I'm stuck with them for the next 2 years. This is information that would have helped me decide before purchase. I was rushed into making a choice. Their website indicates that they close @ 9 pm. But when I got there at 6:45 pm. they told me they close at 7 pm and that the website was wrong and that it was my fault for not calling. I did call, you didn't answer the phone. But even still, if your website states you close at @9pm, a customer shouldn't need to call. LensCrafters: You should have tried working with me and the three-star review I left on your site. But since you moderate your review section, you get a one-star review on Yelp. read more

I have called and left messages 5 times to book an eye exam, with no call back. The owner, Dr Jewell, says in the message when you call, that all calls will be returned by the end of that business day. The reception staff are unprofessional and unreliable. I will be going else where! read more

Top notch! My son smashed my glasses at 10 am. I made the treck to Solomon pond, and by noon I was all set for a new pair of glasses. I came back an hour later, and it was glasses town USA, population me. Though there was a small mix up with the prescription, I went from obliterated glasses to brand new pair with the span of a day. Im updating my review because this Lenscrafters reschedules your yearly appointment for you without your consent and pretends like you're going to drop everything to go to an appointment they made for you in another state in the middle of the day. Then, when you cancel the appointment they made they have someone call you every week to tell you to reschedule your appointment. I don't have time to be dealing with this right now during my busy season at work. I told the woman the first time she called that I would deal with my personal eye exam on my own time when I had a lighter schedule and wherever I felt like going. Since, that initial conversation they've called weekly to harrass me. It's absurd. I've blocked the number now (it's not the direct store number it's a corporate lenscrafters number) Hopefully it resolves the issue. I just do not appreciate any business calling every week to harass me for my business and not taking NO for an answer. If Lenscrafters is using personal cell phone numbers in that manner they should be letting us know on the intake forms so we can opt out of giving our cell phone numbers. read more

I cannot believe how inconsiderate, rude, and greedy this place is! They wouldn't even bother to put my insurance through. They just insisted that since the card said California (where my company is based) that it wouldn't work. Didn't even call them. Then they tried to charge me outrageous add ons for lenses, when I only wanted what my insurance would cover. They told me no, I had to get those and it cost $179. Forget that, I went to a nice family owned place in Hudson and got my exam and glasses worth scratch resistant coating for $68! AND got treated a whole lot better. read more

I'm writing this review a bit late... I went to LensCrafters because a friend of mine had a better experience than I did, apparently, and he recommended it. I went to the Leominster location and all of the times that I either walked in, or made a phone call, they never had a doctor on site, so I could never make an appointment. When I finally did get a doctor, he informed me that they were book a month and a half out, but to try another location which had full openings. When I called this location, [Marlborough], I spoke with someone, got a doctor right away and was given an appointment two weeks out. I waited until the very day, and when I traveled out there I was informed that I was not in their system. They asked if I was sure I booked with them, I said yes. They asked what number I called and I said, "I googled LensCrafters at this location and dialed whatever number came up. I made the appointment two weeks ago." She replied, "Well, you aren't in here. You could wait an hour; you have five people ahead of you." I declined and did not make an appointment to go back, even though I think I get a phenomenal deal with my insurance. Honestly not worth the hassle and the run-around they gave me. read more

This review is solely for the optician located at this LensCrafters location (Jewell Eye Associates). I have frequented an optician at another LensCrafters location for many years and loved them. I recently moved to the area and decided to give this (Jewell Eye) optometrist a try. I scheduled my appointment online a few weeks in advanced (about 3 weeks, I needed an after work hours appointment, so I had to wait). After scheduling my appointment, someone from their office called to confirm and asked for my insurance info so that I would be all set for my appointment. The day for my appointment came and the place was ok. Not as clean or organized as the other place I had gone to but it was decent. The guy who checked me in, informed that they couldn't verify my appointment as it was after work hours and my insurance was now close and due to this I had to pay for my visit up front. I told him how I had given my info before but didn't put up much of a fight and paid for my visit. He then went on to tell me that once verified I would get reimbursed. Fine! This was in August. A few weeks went by and I called the office for an update on my reimbursement, someone told me that it would take 3-6 weeks but not to worry. I called back in December and someone told me that it's not 3-6 weeks, that it could take 6-12 weeks. I said OK and hung up. I went on my insurances website and discovered that they had paid for my visit in September and Jewel Eye had cashed the check that same month. I called back right away and demanded to speak to a supervisor, she gave me the run-around and once I mentioned that I would contact the BBB she right away "magically" found my reimbursement paperwork and was going to mail me a check instantly. Three weeks went by and no check. I finally called and told them that I would be filing a complaint through the ethics committee because what they were doing was illegal (they were double dipping-I had paid for my visit and so had my insurance, it's fraudulent activity) and low and behold 2 days later a check came in the mail (with a date of 02/19) I think that they only decided to reimburse me because I put up a fight, usually people forget about things like this. Please save yourself the trouble and avoid this place. read more

I felt like an idiot so I left. I just checked my email and sure enough they just decided to move my appt the day of. Only decided to tell me that by email this time, there was no phone call. went there yesterday because I had a scratch on one of my lenses, had been there before originally for my glasses, and spent close to $500,00. girl at the counter looked at them and said I needed new lenses, and I said if there is anyway they could fix the scratch or get a new lens, said they only come in pairs and it would cost me close to another $500.00. I said that I would not pay that kind of money for just a little scratch on the lens. Good customer service. Can't say anyone was rude. But I was disappointed because I thought prescriptions were filled in an hour. I have a line bifocal with a prism lens, which the tech was astute & caught the latter part of the prescription without my pointing it out. Had to point it out where I last went. Anyway I was told "Not too many people wear 'flat tops' any more as most people have switched to Progressives." I've never heard the term "flat top" before except in the song "Take This Job and Shove It" about the boss' hair cut. I'm not comfortable with the price or the idea of adapting to multi focal progressives, & line bifocals usually work fine for me. But they didn't have my lenses in stock, so now I'm stuck waiting at least a week for my replacement pair. Bit of a disappointment compared with previous experiences with this chain. read more

Worst place ever in the history of eye examination. After waiting for 1 hour, i was taken out of the examination room by the doctor just because i asked why the reasoning was for such a wait. I first thought the doctor sent me back to the reception again to make arrangements for examination. After 5 minutes, i asked the administrative person what was going on and she told me that i declined the eye exam!!. It was wow!. I could not believe my ears and wanted to talk to the doctor. He did not show up for 20 minutes and I had to leave. I won't let this go as i was heavily discriminated ( by looking at the other comments, i see that I am not alone). Besides administrative personnel was very rude, unfriendly and my 2 cents for Lenscrafters: " please stop your contract with this doctor, it is going to ruin your reputation if not already". read more

i'm little surprised by the bad reviews for this place as my wife and i used them four times within the last 18 months and never had any issues. they sometimes don't call you when your glasses are ready but that's as bad as it got. at least for us. most recently i got oakley prescription sunglasses as i was able to save little with my work's vision plan. nevertheless, few months into getting the new sunglasses one of the lenses started to randomly fall out due to poor workmanship on oakleys side, so i got to the store and learn that i have to deal with oakley's repair provider called luxottica. little annoying as i bought them here but ok it is what it is. long story short luxottica customer service SUCKS!!! so i call oakley direct and tell them about my experience with luxottica but get nowhere with them. so i call the store and speak with the manager (think her name was liz?), and vented to her about the horrible service from oakley and luxxotica. she took some info and told me she would call me in twenty minutes and she did just that saying that she ordered me a replacement pair at no charge, which would be in about two weeks at which point to bring my old ones in. again, this would be done at no charge. i will NEVER buy anything made by oakley again... NEVER! however i will be returning to this store based on what i considered was an exceptional customer service. read more

I purchased a pair of glasses with transitional lenses and l started getting spots on the lenses that got worse each month. After one year I took them back to Lens Crafters and the sales person looked at me with a cocky attitude said.....Too bad you didn't get the insurance because we could have got you new lenses for $35.00. You'll have to pay about $365.00 for new lenses. He just kept talking about the insurance and how he encourages every one to get it. There was no warranty. I've worn glasses over 40 years and NEVER had this happen to a pair of lenses and I've never had to buy insurance. Obviously LensCrafters makes shitty lenses and for them to fix it you have to buy their insurance. Go somewhere else!! read more

The staff at the Jewell Eye was very friendly. They got me in for an appointment due to my glasses breaking. So glad i came there!!

My eye glasses were damaged by someone else. In order to be reimbursed I need to get a receipt. The only thing is, I got several discounts when I originally purchased my glasses. Unfortunately, I will not receive any of those discounts when I re-purchase my glasses. I asked if they could provide me with a quote for what it will cost me to re-purchase my glasses (cost without discounts). They said they couldn't do anything like that. The manager at the store was very 'un-customer service' like so I contacted what I thought was their corporate office. Needless to say, 4 months later and I still do not have a resolution to this problem. I have 4 people in my house that wear glasses and I've shopped at Lenscrafters for many years. Since I can't get resolution to any easy request, I will no longer shop there. read more
