I ordered two pairs of glasses. Each one had a different frame. Went to pick them up. Talk about a royal fuck-up. Each pair had the same frame and neither one had the correct prescription!!! The lenses were worse than the pair that I have been wearing for the past few years!!! The woman "helping me" had a name tag with the title, Licensed optician." This woman had zero understanding of customer service. Not once did she offer an apology(!) nor an explanation as for what went wrong. I asked for a refund. Not once did she offer anything to compensate me or to fix the issue. Nothing. Not one fucking apology. This woman needs training in customer service. Never again will I buy from this business. Over the years, I have purchased several pairs of glasses. Now they have morons running the show. I hope that this licensed optician is treated the same way that she had treated me. Booked online, confirmed appointment via text, submitted admission forms via email, arrived for appointment and was told that it was cancelled because they had tried to call me to get the same information I submitted online. The eye doctor was very blunt and seemed to have an "it is what it is" attitude and she seemed very irritated when I asked her questions. I can't say if her diagnosis of the condition of my eyes was accurate and feel like I need a second opinion. She also said that I have something since childhood that no other eye doctor has ever told me before, which I found very surprising. In the end when I asked her whether my power had changed and whether I needed new lenses she casually said something like it was up to me if I wanted them or not as if she didn't care to give me proper advice in the capacity of a doctor who'd normally be concerned about their patients welfare. In addition the staff at the front desk were so slow and inefficient. They made me wait almost 20 min just to give me my prescription after the exam. In the end I just felt like getting out of this place and not even bother browsing for a new pair of glasses. read more

First when I went in things were crazy busy. The woman at the desk asked if she could help me and when I started telling her want I wanted, didn't get to finish my sentence, the doctor came out and I was dropped like a hot potato. Here is a hint, don't say "can I help you?" if you can't. First, she told me to sit at a table, I did. Then she told me to sit at another table, I did, then she had someone come out to help me and HE sat at another table; so I had to get up and move over there. It took forever to get what I wanted... I asked if they had my prescription from a while ago I had no idea how long it had been. The employee gave me the prescription and I said I wanted to get glasses. The employee goes... do have you have a prescription? I am like, you just gave me one... I thought he was kidding so I pushed it toward him and he goes, that is expired. I mean.. really? What did you think I wanted the prescription for -- my scrapbook? And then to be so passive aggressive going.. do you have a prescription? There is also nothing on the prescription that would allow me to know it had expired. As pretty woman would say ..big mistake --Huge -- I had a ton of money to use out of my health savings account won't be using it here. read more

Had to get new glasses, as my prescription had changed. Decided to give Visionworks a try. Was greeted by Lauren, the General Manager. She asked what style of glasses I was looking for, and right away pulled several off the shelf. It was very obvious, that Lauren had a lot of experience in the eyeglass world, as she knew what style glasses fit and looked good on my face. She was honest, when a pair was too large or just wasn't right for my face. Within 20 minutes or so, I had decided on a pair of glasses, as well as a pair of sunglasses. Both prescription glasses were in within 3 1/2 days. When I went to pick same up, the Optometrist came right over and had me try both pair of glasses on, made the correct adjustments, and I was out of there within 15 minutes. Hassle free experience. Highly disappointed by the lack of customer service. I greeted the older guy working in the front to ask a quick question. He made no eye contact while barking at me for not wearing a mask. I asked if they had masks and he used his pen to point at a box of masks that were empty. I reiterated to him that it was just a quick question I wasn't doing any shopping. He told me to go get one from my car or ask my question from outside. He was very rude and attacked me verbally from the second I opened the door. I have been going here several years, since before they moved. They have always provided me with reasonable prices and good customer service when I have needed things. My one issue is they always seem to be chronically under-staffed. The phone is constantly ringing off the hook which is annoying to me as a customer waiting. I know the front line staff are always busy and going from call to customer. I feel sorry for the employees. read more

I really, really struggle with Visionworks. I've had to go to this place a lot more than I thought I would due to issues with glasses, prescriptions and additional frames. My initial visit was nothing remarkable. The doctor gave me an eye exam and suggested that we change my prescription to something stronger. I was a bit apprehensive as my eyes don't do well to change but we moved forward with it. I went out, picked a free set of frames and also decided to purchase a nice pair of sunnies (as summer was underway at this point) and take advantage of a sale that was going on at the time. I won't bore you with this extremely complex and long story BUT over the next 3 weeks, I went back and forth to Visionworks an additional 3 times for a total of 6 or 7 visits. Between wrong frames that don't work with my prescription (I have an astigmatism that doesn't work with curved frames), damaged lenses that resulted in getting an additional pair of glasses rushed to the store before my vacation (huge shout out to Lauren for all of her help) and then finally returning to get the proper frames, it was just an exhausting procedure that frankly, turned me off. Overall, the staff was nice and courteous, with the exception of Kirk who frankly is one of the most rude, sarcastic, and obnoxious people I've ever experienced in the service business. He tries too hard to be funny and is just down right obnoxious. The saving grace of this location is Lauren who went above and beyond and made sure that my sunglasses made it before my vacation. She really was awesome. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this location, I think it wise to seek out a private optician and give them a shot. We'll see! read more

Bad experience. Had an appointment, took time off work, arrived early as asked, was told they were way behind due to computer scheduling issues and asked if I could wait. Unable to wait, she then said she's going to check with doctor to get me a better idea of wait time. 12 minutes passed and I gave up with her stalling or absent mindedness or whatever. Just a waste of my time. What's the point in making an appointment? Clearly mistakes and delays happen but be polite and clear, not awkward and vague. read more

This location gets 2 stars and it's only because of their front desk employee Katie. Went in this past Friday (after a medical procedure) because my insurance was going to charge my a copay 3 days later. I scheduled this appointment for a contacts exam. When I went in, the doctor determined that I needed a medical eye exam because my issue was with eye dryness, which she believed wasn't contact related. Well today, upon calling to purchase new contacts as my supply is running low, I am told my contacts prescription is expired and that I need to come in for another separate contact exam. Now we are outside of the time that my insurance will not cover my copay, and I have to go in for an additional appointment for contacts. Instead of completing the contacts exam as I requested when I went in on Friday. It seems like every single time I go into this facility the bar is moved. Earlier this year I went in and purchased contacts and was told that I could also purchase glasses with my insurance (VSP) as it owns Visionworks. When I came in a few months later for glasses, that wasn't the case. Now this. Associate Katie has said that she will look further into my insurance to see "what they can do", but it's likely I'm SOL. The only reason why I continue going to Visionworks is because of the proximity to my office. Otherwise, I would certainly not recommend, to anyone. read more

Beware - Eyemed benefit only for Doctors Services I have a Tufts insurance plan that specifies a $150 lens/frame benefit for Eyemed network (thru Tufts) providers. The Visionworks website claims "Hundreds of insurance plans accepted including:" , Eyemed is clearly mentioned. No exclusions or exceptions are listed for their coverage. I visited their store in Framingham and was told the Eyemed benefit is for doctors services only, not lenses and frames. Having just updated my prescription the day before, it was of no benefit for me. Conversations with several store individuals were worthless, no explanation was provided. If you accept an insurance plan and it does NOT include lens and frames it's not really a plan, it's closer to clickbait ! read more

I had to get new glasses and went to Visionworks on a weekday afternoon. It was very easy to schedule an appointment by phone (got next day appointment). Once I got there the wait wasn't very long to be seen and altogether with the exam and picking out glasses I was out of there in 45 min. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, from checking me in, to the exam, to picking and paying for glasses. They accept insurance. I would go back again. read more

Despite being an unexpected 'walk-in' I was warmly welcomed, and attended to with grace, sincerity and a charm more expected in my home area. I got my Exam at this Vision Works and that was good. I liked the doctor and his procedures. The only thing I hated about this store is the Staff! There is only one person who knows how things work in their system. They do not care to be polite with customers if you go later in the day at around 7 PM if their store closes at 8 PM. I had to make at least 3 trips where I spent at least 1 hour with no productivity. I still ordered my glasses but I will definitely look for options next time. read more

If you are unfamiliar with your insurance plan, it is best to call your insurance company before visiting Visionworks. The staff assured us that we would be covered by submitting receipts to our insurance company, Eyemed. This is a huge red flag, meaning it is not covered if they cannot submit it for you. Find a glasses place through your insurance company, not on the word of the store. Turns out, our plan does not allow for out of network providers, which in this case, Visionworks of Framingham was not in our network. (Visionworks took our insurance cards and everything). And our plan does not cover out of network providers at all. Well it's too late, we already have our glasses. read more

Recently, my glasses broke. Because my insurance offered discounts for shopping at Visionworks, I went here for replacements. Since my glasses unfortunately broke near the 4th of July holiday, I was told it would take longer than usual to get my new glasses, and that they would be ready in five days. This was obviously already a long wait, but given the holiday, it may have been justified. Now, here I am, TEN days later and still no glasses. Repeated calls, repeated excuses (someone on vacation, now a lightening strike at their plant) and, if I am lucky, my glasses will come in three days from now--two weeks after my initial visit. Nor have they offered any compensation or further discounts as compensation. I don't care if my insurance does offer subsidies to shop here, I will never, ever purchase glasses from Visionworks again. read more
