I was very pleased to be greeted within a few minutes by Giovanni who immediately took care of my eyewear needs without making me feel intrusive because I didn't purchase them from this location. I ordered photo-gray transitional lenses a year and a half ago and the color change quit working after about year. I brought this defect to LensCrafters and their position was that people generally change eyewear every year or so. What's the problem, in other words. Well, I prefer to keep the same glasses for several years, so I have a real problem with this inferior product. If you feel the same way then by all means avoid LensCrafters. I went into LensCrafters after I had called first and talked to Aleks there about getting new lenses for my glasses. He let me know the different options and I decided to go in to check them out. When I arrived, I was greeted right away and asked for Aleks. I had no idea he was the store manager. He was so kind and very detailed with my millions of questions. I haven't purchased prescription glasses in about decade and needed a new one for an upcoming eye exam from the DMV, and the staff at this LensCrafters helped throughout the whole process. I picked some random frame, but Luna gave her honest opinion and recommended one that fit way better. I have been to this place twice, and that was because I wanted my new glasses with my old glasses prescription. I made it clear to the person who was attending me. I told them twice to the point that I had to make two trips. As soon as I got them and started to use them, I noticed right away how after I stopped using them, my vision would get super blurry and my vision would get worse. I love how everyone was nice, but I didn't like how it seemed like they didn't care about what I asked and wanted. At this point, I don't even use them anymore. read more

Brian showed me some cool Ray Ban frames that change colors (get darker) when they are outside-frames, not lenses! Very enthusiastically, he walked me outside to show me. And I was sold. How can management at LensCrafters hire such stupid people? I walked into the store on Jamboree in Irvine and spoke to the dumbest salesman to walk this green earth. Dumber than 2 rocks, hasn't shaved in a week, not smart enough to wear a mask properly and doesn't know what an iron is, he looked like he just rolled out of bed and went to work. In the span of 10 minutes I had to repeat my question 4 times because this salesman was just plain stupid. And after the 4th time asking me what I needed, he still couldn't understand his job, I could have given him written instructions but I don't think he could read English and/or have the appropriate amount of brain cells to formulate a proper answer. As a disclaimer, I have worked in a private practice optometry office for 2 years before heading back to school, so I do have experience with working in optical (I am not currently affiliated to any office). I know that LensCrafters and corporate optometry receive a bad rap, but I figure don't knock it until you've tried it. Below is just my own personal experience at this LensCrafters, so read however you will. Like many others have already mentioned before, this place lacks customer service. The first time I walked in, I was not greeted, nor received any help until I asked for it. Lucky for me, I do prefer to browse on my own instead of having someone follow me around. I got to work with Dakota the first time where she helped me price out how much it would cost with the different options that I wanted. My previous lens I had were a specialty lens, and it was the first pair of glasses where I absolutely loved my prescription so I wanted to keep the same exact lens type with the very slight update in my prescription. Unfortunately, LensCrafters does not have the option for this lens type (Eyezen) because they were still being trained on how to work with/order the lens that my insurance covers more. Instead, Dakota recommended LensCrafters' own version of the lens type (Modern Lifestyle), which cost a little more. I decided I wanted to come back at a later time to get the glasses made because I wanted to bring my parents in to check out LensCrafters as well. When I came back the following week the pair of glasses in the color that I wanted had already been sold. I worked with Dan who pulled a lot of strings calling up every branch of LensCrafters in the surrounding area to find if they had the color frame that I wanted (*major claps for him*). Unfortunately, no other store had the frame color that I wanted so I settled for a different color. Some pros about this LensCrafters: -lots of selection: literally there is something for everyone! I appreciated that they had "alternative/asian" fit glasses that fit my face! Even my mom who has a hard time finding glasses found something she liked -reasonable prices: i found that the price for single vision lenses were very reasonable, despite having to pay a little extra for the specific lens type I wanted -I loved working with Dakota and Dan who were super helpful on my visits -they do take insurance. if you got it, use it! Some cons about this LensCrafters: -lack of customer service: don't expect to get immediate service when you walk in. While I was being helped, I saw someone stand in line for about 30 min just waiting to get her glasses adjusted, which should have been a really quick fix. -if you like a frame, but want to come back at a later time, ask them to put the frames on HOLD for you. This is a busy location, so the frames do get sold fast and they're not always available to be reordered like mine :( -make sure you are asking them for an itemized copy of what you are paying for. I noticed that there was a $35 charge for a "One Year Eyewear Protection Plan," which was not explained to me. It was explained to me, however, that if I ever needed to replace the lens, I would only be paying $25. After doing some research online, I found out that the $25 to cover the cost of lens is in addition to the $35 that you pay for your glasses (kinda like insurance). I asked to take this $35 charge off because I'm usually pretty good about taking care of my glasses, and didn't think I would need this option. Additionally, in my experience in working at private practices, they usually cover the glasses your purchase (scratch on lens or manufacture defect to the frames) at no extra cost for up to one year. It's just something to keep in mind about if you are debating between LensCrafters or getting glasses from your local optometrist. read more

First of all, don't be so sure that you will get the Dr. That you made an appt with. Customer service just decides to put you with another Dr. without letting you know. After my visit, Dr. gave instruction to the Front desk lady on what changes should be done to my prescription. The girl, kept nodding her head and then she passed it to another person to take care of my order without even transferring what the Dr. had explained to him. So basically the Dr did all those explanation for nothing! I sit with this new person and he feels that he knows more than the new Dr. because he's been working there for a long time and here I am have to convince him to go with what the Dr. prescribed and change my prescription. Luna was very courteous and helpful and took her time to answer all of my questions. She also offered to adjust my glasses in the future if need be. From the looks of it, and generally speaking, the staff here seemed friendly and respectful towards all of the customers/patients. Also, I felt no pressure to make any sort of purchase. We tried to fix it ourselves but we're unable to (we took it apart and couldn't put it back together). I brought them to the store with no idea what to expect. This location is small and seems to always be very busy. I've had to wait over 45 minutes past my appointment time to get seen by the optometrist. But wait times aside, my experience with the optometrist has always been great. Venus Tsai is professional and personable, answers all your questions and makes appropriate recommendations for eye care. Big thanks to Lulu for helping me out the other day! The store didn't have the sunglasses in the color I wanted, but Lulu happened to have the exact same pair and was gracious enough to grab his to let me take a look. He took the time to price out my options with discounts v insurance and never rushed me to make a decision. I have just scheduled my appointment on their website and had to call today to check on my insurance. A lady answered the phone and said, "I can answer your question after I'm done with a patient. I'm with a patient right now." Well, why answer the phone then if you were helping a patient. Rude! For both myself and the patient. Worst customer service, esp with the way she talked on the phone, you could tell she wanted to end the conversation because, "she's WITH a patient." I cancelled my appointment right away and scheduled with a local optical place here in Irvine Jeffrey and Trabuco- which by the way have the best reviews on Yelp. May I suggest that customers should check Yelp reviews first before making future appointments with this Lenscrafters branch. I saw so many 1 Stars, now i understand why. read more

WORST service I've received at a LensCrafters. I walked in and wasn't even greeted. After the staff would answer my question, they would walk away and continue their task on the computer up front. After my husband helped me decide on the glasses, we sat down to discuss pricing. I asked about insurance and right away Ashley said, sorry we don't take your insurance.. She didn't even look up my VSP, and was so quick to turn me down. I felt no friendless from her and walked out. On a much better note, I still supported your company and had FANTASTIC service at the LensCrafters at the Main Place mall. They are friendly, quick to help, and they had the eagerness to check my insurance in a few different ways. And guess what, it worked! I also waited 30 minutes on the phone today after being put on hold. Initially I was told the glasses would be ready in 7-10 days. On the 10th day I called and they said it would be ready in 3 more days. I called on the date I was supposed to pick up and they said it would be another 2-3 day for the coating.
