Nice office. Came here to get my annual eye exam and I was very happy with the exam. Dr. Hoang seemed very careful and diligent and she was patient with me when going over the different lenses to see which was more clear for me. I also noticed that they had some new high tech machines for testing which I have not seen at other offices before. They were able to apply my insurance and my new glasses are super clear. I cannot say enough good things about Mary. On Tuesday night I came in with an eye issue that turned out to be a retinal tear. She immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and took action. She clearly explained the problem, made phone calls on my behalf and was willing to drive me to the ER herself as they were nearly closing. The entire process feels rushed and I was handed a prescription to buy glasses in the end with no explanation of any of those readings were. I have never before had to wait close to two months after getting an eye exam to get glasses I ordered and paid for upfront. For context, I've been going to this optometry organization since I was 19 years old. (I'm 44) It seems like their organization, was allergic to picking up the phone and providing updates when glasses are delayed. At one point I asked the female on the other line to please call me rather than just me waiting to receive a text message. (No Follow-Up) Finally after multiple follow-ups on my end and just flat out walking into their business they told me my glasses have been sitting there for over two weeks. It was my first time at this office. Dr. Hoang was very kind. No problem with her there. After the examination I was told to try a frame from an specific place because my Insurance only covered $345.00. I was told that that amount only covered progressive and nothing else for that amount. I agreed to go ahead and get the glasses. after 4 weeks they called that the glasses were ready for pick up, it was impossible for me to read anything. All the letters were on top of each other, that never ever happened to me before at another optometrist. The person there didn't want to cancel my order nor make another glasses. I said it was an error en the prescription she ordered or something else. She continue pushing me to take the glasses with me. she said, "take them, are yours" I said NO, I can't use them. She said, well your Insurance already paid us, you have to take them. I said that I would call my insurance to tell them about it. then she change and said well I will give you another chance. I will return it to the lab who made them. Today, 3 weeks later I went to pick up the new glasses and are with a different frame than the one I ordered. too big for me. And they just put it on my heands, I asked for a case and she just put it on a litle plastic bag. The worse thing is that None of them care. Because I ask to let me talk to Dr. Hoang which was there, but she said that she was bussy and couldn't came to talk to me, very different than my first contact with her, well, they already had been paid, why would she care.....I will never go back to that office again. bad, bad experience. Dr. Hoang and her staff are the best. They treated my kids and I so well. As a single mom it can be hard to manage 3 small ones at once while trying to go through eye exams but Dr. Hoang was attentive and patient and her staff were so good talking with the kids and making them feel comfortable. Everything was explained in a way the kids could understand and the staff were clear with what my insurance coverage included. I have seen Dr Mary Hoang twice now and she is outstanding ! I was going to Dr Booth for 20 yrs and was sad to see him go but Dr Hoang is fantastic. She took her time w me and explained alot . I can not remember the last time someone took that much interest in my health and questions. All her new equipment and her staff too are incredible. Booth decided to move out of state and sell their practice, we were so disappointed since they were the most caring eye doctors in the world. We decided to stay with the practice and met Dr. Hoang last summer. I am so grateful to say Dr. Hoang is continuing with the same excellent customer service and eye care that we have expected from Booth. She doesn't stop until you're fully happy and will go to work for you! My husband, two teen sons and I are 100% satisfied with the care we receive from Dr. Hoang and her equally wonderful staff. I've been a customer for years since my coworker recommended it. I have to admit the Drs are caring and professional. But their staff are something else and made me decide not to go there anymore. I overheard a conversation today while waiting. The conversation was between their front desk and a racist customer. The customer is taking English class somewhere and she said: it's all Chinese in my class and they are like Ching Chong ling long, it gives me headaches". I was shocked when I heard that and wondering what the front desk lady would say. Very professionally she responded with a laughter like it's just so common to hear comments like that. You get three strikes, then you are out. Strike One- when I set up the appointment and tell you I don't want to use my VSP benefits, and explain exactly why, don't reserve my benefit from VSP. Strike Two- On my first (and only) visit don't make me sit and wait for 50 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Strike Three- When I do finally see the Dr. don't tell me that you can't make contact lenses for me without having the curvature, etc., information given to you. That is what you are supposed to be able to do! Don't tell me that the Optometrist that made my last set of contacts 2 1/2 years ago would need to supply those specifications for you to be able to order contacts for me. Terrible and poor service!! OMG, I believe that they really employ unprofessional temp workers. I come to this optometrist since I was in college, due to part is that the owner goes to the same local church as myself. So I decided to support the business, since I know the optometrist and some employees. But recently, one employee really pisses me off. I called in to inform him to fax my current prescription to one of the LensCrafters for fitment (I accidentally broke my glass). I went to the LensCrafters and waited for an hour, BUT NO FAX! HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO FAX OVER A PATIENT'S PRESCRIPTION?! I will NOT visit this optometrist anymore regardless of whether the owners go to the same church! Wasting my time, POOR SERVICE AND BAD BUSINESS! But, I have to be give a great review for Dr. A Booth; she's patient, soft-spoken, and understanding. I love her care very much. BUT I CANT STAND THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! FYI - POOR front desk employees who takes phone calls and provide customer services MEANS BAD BUSINESS. BUYER BEWARE I needed new glasses to replace my old ones so I went to Booth Optometry Group where I have been going for over 10 years. Since my last visit my work provided insurance company had changed. Booth Optometry never once said that they were no longer recognized by my provider but instead told me I had to file a refund request to recover my expenses. Imagine my frustration when my carrier informed me that Booth Optometry Group was OUT OF NETWORK and I was responsible for payment. Makes me wonder why I even bothered to pay for insurance. I have been going to Dr. Booth's office for at least 20 years, even though I no longer live in California. My eyesight is that important to me! Dr. Lowell Booth is honest, smart, up-to-date, insightful, thorough, plus caring and understanding. And I would use more adjectives if my vocabulary were better!! When I moved from California to Texas, I went to a highly recommended optometrist in the city I had moved to. Later, due to a trip to California, I was able to return to Dr. Booth's office. He realized through the thorough testing procedures he always does that there was an error in my current prescription. He indicated I would feel much more comfortable with the new prescription for my glasses. This is when I decided I would make a biannual trip to California. Again, I like my eyesight to be 100%.
