I used my trusty Yelp app and looked at reviews for businesses located in both Seattle and Shoreline. I decided on Sunshine Cleaners in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood based on the solid reviews. It's helpful that they have an adjacent parking area since they are located near a very busy intersection and thoroughfare. I brought in both his wool peacoat and one of my dressy business jackets with intricate detailed threading. I was greeted promptly, items assessed, contact information collected, and a cost estimate stated as I was handed a claim ticket. I returned a few minutes after the stated date and time on the claim ticket a few days later. Note - I wasn't in a hurry and didn't need it expedited. Both items were ready on hangars and plastic covers as promised. The price was very reasonable, both items were undamaged and looked great! And bonus, without that distinct dry cleaning chemical smell I recall from items taken elsewhere years ago. Convenient, professional, prompt service experienced with my first visit!

One place I called said they wouldn't guarantee the stain removal from silk, and another place couldn't guarantee turning things around in time. When I talked to Sunshine, they said it was no problem and I could have it in 2 days when I needed it. I dropped it off, pointed out the stain, and left my name. I got a ticket and was told it'd be ready by 5pm on pickup day. Pick up was easy as well, the skirt looked great and it was pretty reasonable priced as well (i think around $8). The employees here are masked, so I masked up as well. Only thing is I didn't get back the hanger that I brought it in on (it was one of the clip ones since it was a skirt), but they gave it back on one of their own hangers as well as a plastic cover bag. So if you are attached to your hangers, I wouldn't bring them.

Sometimes though if you're like me, far from that, you just need a tailor to repair some clothes. In my case I had a couple pairs of pants with popped buttons. I dropped them off and the lady, perhaps Elsta, was kind. She took my info and told me I should hear back in 5 days and took down my info. She did warn me that if I did not hear back, to call. I understand it gets busy here, the rack when you walk in is loaded with clothes and another with dresses. I came back in a week later as I got busy and was close by coming off work and it was not ready. The lady was very apologetic and told me it would be ready the following day. Sure, enough I got a text the following afternoon to come pick up. The pants were nicely and tightly rebuttoned. Only cost $11 which is less than I expected. So, if I inevitably have to bring more buttons to be sewn or zippers to be repairs, I'll come back.

I am very happy with the results and excited to wear this dress for my friend's wedding! I thought the pricing was fair for the work completed, and discounts were provided depending on payment type. They notified me at drop off that the dress would be done in 2-3 weeks, and it was ready for pick up the VERY next day! I will be bringing more clothes here in the future.

A couple of other factors - the seamstress was going on vacation in so her calendar was really booked up for the next 4 weeks. I attempted to get a dress hemmed and altered, unfortunately due to her going on vacation she wouldn't be able to hem it at all, so we looked at just shortening the spaghetti straps that were too loose on me - $38. I was shocked! The folks before me got their pants hemmed and a shirt repair for about that much total. She was very understanding when I changed my mind and decided to shop around more, but in hindsight I wonder if I was charged more because she was really booked, didn't want the job, etc. Or maybe shes just pricey? Who knows. Mixed feeling and mixed review, again I've heard great things but not sure I'll be back myself.

The experience was disappointing from start to finish. We waited around 45 minutes just to be seen…read more We were then charged $28 for a simple hem, which is on the high side, but since we had already waited so long, we decided to just pay and leave. At checkout, we were told the pants would be ready for pickup in 7-10 days. After 10 days, we called to check on them and were told it would actually be another 8 days. When we reminded them that we had specifically been told 7-10 days, they were very resistant and asked what we needed the pants for. They repeatedly insisted that they had told us it would take 18 days, which is not what we were told and is not a timeline we would have agreed to. Unfortunately, the quality of the work was also poor. Less than two weeks after getting the pants back, the hem started fraying badly (see attached photo). For $28, I expected a much better-quality alteration. Overall, the long wait, inconsistent communication about the turnaround time, high price, and poor quality of the finished work made this a very disappointing experience.
