The tailor…read morehere (Mimet) came highly recommended from someone who's worked in the Men's clothing business for years. And the recommendation is well deserved! I called in on a saturday morning, and got a quote from Mimet over the phone. I needed to have a suit jacket taken in a bit, and the rate he quoted me was more than reasonable. I stopped in and knew instantly that I was in the realm of a seasoned pro. As mentioned by one of the other reviewers, not only do you get your clothing professionally fitted when you come in here, but you also get a proper schooling on some of the finer points of men's furnishings and fittings. The tailor here is extremely personable and friendly. He did a wonderful job, and I am eager to recommend him/them here on the pages of Yelp. Excellent work!

He has an extensive selection of premium fabrics including some of the most beautiful fabrics I have ever seen. They also have a greater selection of lining than I found anywhere else. I honestly can't say enough good things about Gustavo and the entire process. If you need a suit made definitely check them out you won't be disappointed.

I've mostly bought my suits at Men's Warehouse and Nordstrom, so I was wary to go to an independent designer. I didn't want to spend the time or the extra money, but the quality, style, comfort, and durability of my Gustavo Apiti Couture suit far exceeded expectations. And not gonna lie, I like bragging that my suit came from a local designer instead of a fast-fashion chain.

Customer service was great. I took my wedding dress in for some minor alterations, length and…read moresleeve adjustments. They did offer to let out near the bust to make the dress a touch more comfortable and ran into a snag, the dress maker did not leave additional fabric for this. Since the fabric was too delicate to restitch the zipper they ended up having to do a corset back. This was not my ideal outcome but the work was wonderful and done timely.

Visiting their beautiful shop and going through the fittings, I felt like I was seeing true artists…read morein their element. Their professionalism and skill was borderline intimidating (in a good way). And I don't mean to imply they weren't warm; quite the opposite! I left each fitting glowing with confidence from their compliments and encouragement. As far as the work product is concerned, I was blown away. From fitting one to the final fitting, this dress was transformed. And it wasn't particularly easy -- my dress had tricky lace at the bottom that had to be hemmed without creating an ugly line. They did a gorgeous job of working around the design in a way that I actually think enhanced it overall. They showed me how to bustle the dress and let me take videos. They took a hundred photos for me. And again, the fit was perfection. In short -- get your alterations done here! You won't regret it.

This was my first time getting any type of alteration. I actually had my first fitting with them…read morewhen they were in West Seattle. They're now in Tacoma. It's in a residential area but the workspace is still separate from their living space. This isn't like a traditional bridal studio so I wouldn't bring all of your bridal party/family to your fittings, maybe just 1 - 3 other people. I got my dress used off of Still White. I'm only 5'0". The dress and the slip it came with were over a foot too long and impossible to walk in. I reached out to Lek and Beam to fix the hemline and add a bustle. I didn't know what a bustle was before researching wedding dress styles but it's a way to hang up the train of your wedding dress (usually after the ceremony) so that it's easier to walk/dance and doesn't get as dirty. Lek and Beam were easy to communicate with via email and text. They were also very thorough in-person to make sure that expectations were aligned before doing alterations. I felt that the pricing was very reasonable considering that my dress consisted of three layers that needed to be hemmed, they hemmed it so that it matched the outline of the embroidery (not just a straight hem), and they do a special way of bustling that hides the loops until they're ready to be used. They also fixed my slip straps and added a missing button for free. I received a number of compliments at my wedding specifically on how well my dress fit me! First fitting tips for alteration newbies like me: - bring the exact shoes, underwear (and/or pasties), shape wear, veil, jewelry, and accessories (ex: coverups) you are planning to wear on your big day. These can all impact the fit and styling of your dress. For example, if you're wearing a necklace, you can see where it falls in relation to the dress' neckline. - When buying a dress, it's better to size up to fit your largest measurement (whether it's bust, waist, or hips). It's much easier (and generally less expensive) to bring in a dress compared to letting it out. - consider leaving some space at the waist rather than it being skin tight. Remember that your waistline may change when sitting vs standing, after eating/staying hydrated, etc. - if you're getting a bustle, try to bring a couple of key people to your final fitting so that they can practice bustling and unbustling your dress. It can be tricky! All of my bridal party and family are in Hawai'i so I made sure to take a video of Beam showing how to bustle, and Beam also had me try to do it myself too.
