Thuy (pronounced Twee) is - hands down - the bhadddest tailor ever! I've lived in the Skyway/RB area for over 50 years & have never found any other tailor as gifted as her! Thuy tailored my wedding dress in 1999, replicated my mama's mother-of-the-bride dress from a pic my mom found (no pattern), and then 25 years later she hooked up my youngest's prom dress (purchased in AZ) to exactly what she asked for - the dress actually turned out better that what we had envisioned! Thúy is phenomenal. The first job she did for me was an alteration to shorten a silk Vietnamese dress that I needed to wear at a wedding. She pinned it up, advised me as to proper length, and advised me as to the type of hat I should wear, because I always need a hat outdoors. The job was ready well on time, and it was perfectly done! The second job I took to her was a letting-out of my husband's corduroy trousers. Another business that he consulted could not do it. I showed Thúy the trousers, told her what he told me had to be done, and a week later they were ready, "Perfect!" my husband said, and he is fussy. My wife and I dropped off several garments on May 25th, 2019. Thuy said she'd have them ready by Wednesday the 29th. My wife and I went back on the 2nd, and we were told to come back next week (June 9th). We agreed to come back as she had a mess of clothes strewn about, and the shop was in disarray. Fast forward to Tuesday, June 18th. My wife showed up at 13:10, knocked on door and saw the main seamstress Thuy sitting there. Having been ignored, my wife knocked again. Thuy motioned a dismissive wave of her hand, and continued to converse with someone in the shop. My wife stood there for 10 minutes in disbelief waiting for service, only to be ignored and leave with no update on our garments. Fast forward to today, June 21st. I went into the shop. Thuy informed me that she's been busy and will have our garments done tomorrow (June 22nd). She also informed me that she had yet to even start work on our garments after one full month! At this point, I feel like she has deliberately made my wife and I wait one month for garments we were told we'd receive back in no more than 1 week. I'm so fed up that this business would place so little value on our patronage. For her to think it's ok to assume care of our garments for 1 week, yet hold them hostage for over a 30 days is unacceptable. I wrote this so that no one else has to deal with Thuy's bridal. My clothes should supposedly be done tomorrow. They are my work clothes and very important. If they are not complete in full by tonite I will post an update. I'm extremely frustrated because I have given Thuy the benefit of the doubt so many times. I have given her opportunities to fix her mistakes, yet all we have received is the run around. Given the current circumstances, broken promises, complete lack of customer service, and basic disregard, I have to say that (in my oppinion), this is the worst tailor/alterations/bridal gown service in the city. read more

Thuy (pronounced Twee) is one of a kind. I am so grateful I stumbled upon her shop. Her shop is so special and has years of her incredibly talented craft all over the wall. Thuy's prices are beyond fair (she added an incredibly difficult bustle to my chiffon and silk wedding dress in two days and it was $20, when we inquired about hemming some jeans, she told us $8). Thuy is a master at what she does. She makes wedding dresses by hand, hand stitches dresses with THOUSANDS of sequins and is just so incredibly talented. Her store tells many stories and it so increíble to walk in. The way she added the bustle is nothing less than masterful. I highly suggest coming here and giving Thuy your business. Thuy is awesome! She does high quality work at very reasonable prices. I first came to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed. She did an amazing job and charged probably half of what it would have cost at David's Bridal. Since then, I've had pants zippers fixed and had my boyfriend bring in pants to get hemmed, which were all done perfectly. Please note that there are no business hours posted. Calling ahead to see when Thuy is open is helpful. If there is no answer, you can leave a message and she will call you back. Once, she even let me come after hours because I couldn't make it in any earlier due to work. Cash only, so be prepared upon pickup. Highly recommend for all your alternations needs! read more

I was really let down by Thuy. :( I dropped my bridesmaid dress off on Friday for it to be hemmed since it was a tad bit too long. I apologized and told her I was doing everything really last minute but that I needed it done soon because the wedding was next Saturday. She told me that was totally fine and that she could have it done by Thursday. ...........It wasn't totally fine. I went in on Friday afternoon to pick up the dress and at first she couldn't find it. Then after lifting up some things on her desk, she found it. SHE NEVER STARTED ON IT!!! "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!! It's because someone else had the same colored pink dress, so I thought it was that one and I did it for them." Uh, what? Don't you look at the receipt papers you fill out indicating when it should be done? I seriously should have let the messy store be a big red flag, but that's how a lot of small shops in that area are, so I wasn't judging. I'm familiar with the area and the upkeep they have (and don't have) with their stores. Big mistake on my part though. She apologized more than once and said she would start on it right away and that I could get it the next day. I had my boyfriend pick it up since I was busy preparing for the wedding. He said when he got there, she had no idea what to charge him because he didn't come with the receipt. He said $20, although she told me $25, but she ended up just charging him the $20 since that's what he told her. Again, super unorganized. Why don't you have anything written down? =( read more

This is a good, independently owned small business. The woman who does the work is very nice, speaks English well, and has good prices. I have also noticed that she is proud of doing good work, and often does things that are beyond the scope of the work requested, without additional charge. Today I went in there and she had hemmed some pants of mine, that someone else had done a repair on earlier. She let me know that she took out a bunch of stitching from the previous repair because the thread didn't match, and redid it. This is what I mean by someone who wants to do things right. I appreciate that. I note that some other reviewers mentioned that she didn't get things done when she said. I've had that experience once or twice, as well. I would say that you should tell her you need it a bit before you do, and maybe even call to check with her to see if it's done, if you don't want to waste a trip there. I am close by, and I love the rest of the service and the prices, so I would definitely recommend them. read more

I had tons of dresses, shirts and pants for her to fix and she even customized one of my dresses without me asking! She won't disappoint! She's definitely my go to lady and the cost is reasonable! UPDATE: The seam of my dress was ripped apart a little on my right side! I didn't notice until I saw the side of my dress in the restroom at my prom dance. Thank god I had emergency pins in my clutch! Extremely disappointed my dress ripped. The only reason I'm giving her 2/5 instead of 1/5 because I was the one who asked for the dress to be a little tighter so I feel I should take part of the blame. However, it was because I asked her to take my dress in a little more that the zipper was aligned better, the flaps on the inside sides of my dress were sewn down, and the useless white elastic bands were taken off. In the end, I wish I had not asked her to take in my dress a little bit more. My advice is to sit and account for bloating when altering your dresses. Still had a great prom night though, I refused to let the slight wardrobe malfunction ruin my time :) read more

I brought Thuy a navy bridesmaid dress that I had to have altered within 48 hours before I left town. She had it done within 24. She was very friendly, her prices fair, and her craftsmanship was solid. When I went to pick up the dress, she completed the alterations to my liking and even attended to a last minute request to have some pleats sewn down along the bust, as I thought they looked awkward. She dropped everything to do it at no extra charge. She was also the only tailor in Seattle I could find working on a Sunday, which was lucky for me. It is true that there is a lot going on in her shop, as she gets a lot of business, especially among the Vietnamese community, but if you are concerned, just give her a call the day before your scheduled pick-up to make sure she'll have your item ready for you when you want it. Your satisfaction is her priority, but English is not her first language, so don't be shy about expressing very clearly your needs and expectations, particularly if you are unhappy.
